    Bistec beef plate, very meh
    Suzanne A.

The bistec beef plate was not familiar with an almost Chinese food like sauce of tomatoes and corn starch. It was almost clear rather than a dark, thick strew sauce The beef was thin, cooked and cut into squares like the thickness of a ham or bacon. The lettuce was placed next to the hot and was ruined with the heat of the sauce. The beans and rice was good. Would NOT have it again. I like the atmosphere and so very disappointing.

Good portion sizes. Food is priced well for what you get. Ordered a burrito and it was pretty big. It fed me for like 3 meals. I just wish it automatically came with like pico de Gallo inside it. Appetizers were good too. The queso was really good.

Went out for a Friday date night and while walking through midtown my wife and I decided to go to Mari Chuy's as we have not been there for several years. I've always appreciated the location and setup of this midtown location. The summer is especially nice with the outdoor patio. It was very quiet for a Friday night which seemed strange as it was about 7:30, maybe a little too cold for most people! But fine with us as there was plenty of tables and the service was quick. We ordered some margaritas and they mentioned adding an order of Guacamole to start. Always hard to say no to fresh guac, which was good and a nice addition with the provided chips and Pico Salsa. Margaritas were good, nice large serving on the rocks. They didn't offer the option for blended, but after reading some other reviews sounds like it is an option. On the rocks was fine with us though, just mentioning it for others. Both my wife and I decided to order Combo plates, I ordered the Carne Asada Wet Burrito and my wife ordered the 2 taco plate with chicken. The Wet Burrito is huge, but it wasn't very flavorful. Basically a burrito stuffed with asada, and the sauce didn't add too much flavor surprisingly. The tacos were fresher and more flavorful. Beans and rice were standard, but a nice addition for the wet burrito. Overall a great experience and nice dinner out. My critique of the combo plates should be taken lightly, I would compare them to any other typical Mexican restaurant and the prices are comparable. I'm looking forward to trying some of their specialty dishes next time!

Stopped in for an early dinner on a Saturday. As it was early, it wasn't very busy and we were seated right away. Service was very friendly, quick, and attentive. I had ordered the peach margarita. Boy was a surprised by the size of the margarita that came out! I was not disappointed, and it was very tasty but beware if you're driving (LOL)! The chips and salsa to start were tasty. The chips were warm as if they were right out of the oven which was a nice touch. I ordered the chicken enchiladas which were tasty and my husband had the shrimp burrito which he enjoyed. The whole restaurant is cute and i love the indoor outdoor vibes. We will definitely be back to try more items on the menu and we'll probably try the south reno location as well!

Mari Chuys: good tacos, vibrantly decorated establishment, and excellent service. This was my first time at Mari Chuys. I've been to some other restaurants in this plaza but honestly didn't know they existed. We figured we should give them a try. Upon walking in we were warmly greeted by the owners. The restaurant is painted in really vibrant and bright colors. The restaurant is also clean and looks like they can accommodate groups of varying size. It also appears that there's outdoor seating. Ambiance 5/5 Service: From the greeting to all of the waitstaff everyone was super friendly and polite. They answers any questions we had and refilled our waters multiple times without needing to be flagged down. 5/5 Food: I'm a big fan of street tacos. The ingredients in mine tasted fresh. The meat was tender and the food was pretty good overall. I couldn't quite place my finger on it though something was missing from the seasoning. Maybe more citrus or heat? By no means am I a taco expert but it was a few tiers down from my favorite taco place in Reno. 4/5 Also great chips. If you're in the midtown area consider coming here for some pretty decent tacos and great chips. The price point is a little more than some of their competitors but the service is excellent!

We had such a great time Sat night! We arrived early and it wasn't too busy yet. The atmosphere and decor is so fun! It's a little small but they have outside seating if the weather is nice. The staff is phenomenal! So sweet! It was a friends birthday and they treated her so special and sang to her too. The food was decent. I felt it lacked a little flavor. I like salted chips so I just added it myself. I had a wet carne asada burrito, and it was very good, the sauce just needed a tad more flavor for my liking. All in all the night was a success.

Food was amazing, service was friendly and fast. Portions are so big as well! We couldn't finish it all. Also the atmosphere is beautiful, love all the artwork.

Love this place for the ambience, the food is just OK. Love coming here Kuz the music is good and they always have street performers around in that cul de sac it's fun to people watch Food-wise: fajitas r a bit dry, But the tacos were alright, and their margaritas r pretty yum I think they have a location At Rancharrah, in Sparks, and even in the airport, I haven't tried any of the other locations Kuz they don't seem as fun as this location

Lovely little place. We had fish street tacos with homemade salsa and homemade chips. We were part of a big tour food and mural group with a company. The service was awesome. The jalapeño margarita was very jalapeño.

This is such a cozy and unique restaurant. Everything we ordered was something I had never tried before. We started with cocktails. They have a big variety of margaritas, beer, and other signature drinks. For our appetizers we ordered the blue corn bread which is served on a mini cast iron skillet. This corn bread is sweet, but also has some spicy chili flavor. We shared the fish ceviche with tuna. It was so fresh and the flavors were out of this world. Tangy, sour, a little spicy. For my main I went with the special for that weekend which was the Sea Bass. So flaky and buttery. It was served on top of a kind of fried rice. Overall great experience here. I would prepare for a 2hr experience so that you can enjoy all meals equally!

The numerous booths were cute, but really too small for four people. there were quite a few larger tables for eight or 10 people. Four four , It's a lot of cozy togetherness, which is probably fine for a family, but not for other circumstances. The halibut entrée was very good. The short ribs were kind of average. The other two guests were mixed in their review of the entrées as well. Our our server was super nice , attentive and knowledgeable - while he was with us - but would disappear for long periods of time such that we had to get up to get their attention several times to get additional items. The restaurant was not particularly crowded, but there was something going on at another nearby table - perhaps a VIP, family friends or owner (?) that attracted a gathering of several servers for long periods of time, so it was hard to get our servers attention. I'd be surprised if that was a common scenario, but it happened while we were there. Ambient noise was fine . Prices were on the higher side for my expectation, but the presentation was very nice. It was pretty good, would probably do 3 1/2 stars if I could, but it definitely isn't equal to the various four stars I've rated locally.

The carnitas was some of my favorite in town, the guac was delicious, and my friend loved the skirt steak tacos. Plus, the three salsas they serve are all so good. The bread arrives with that perfect crusty exterior and airy interior that holds up beautifully once it's "drowned" in the vibrant, slightly spicy tomato-chile sauce. It tastes remarkably close to what you'd find in Jalisco, which makes it feel genuinely authentic rather than a watered-down version for tourists. We also got tacos dorados de papa and those were pretty amazing too. The micheladas and chavelas are just as impressive.
