Great place to eat after scrambling around Vasquez Rocks, visiting Animal Tracks, or just hungry on CA 14 frwy. Just get off the Crown Valley offramp and head due south for about a mile. 1) Wild Game Sausage: Walk On The Wild Side With Jalapeño-Cheddar Stuffed Elk With Roasted Peppers & Onions. Big portion enough for 2 meals since the Elk sausage is so rich. Elk sausage is ground fine and stuffed tightly in the casing for dense, firm texture. You're getting your money's worth. The Jalapeño has a nice, warm piquancy while the Cheddar gives a dairy fermented undertone. The julienned red and green bellpeppers are pleasantly al dente; the onions are caramelized to bring out their sweetness. It's all sautéed in an agrodolce/sweet-sour sauce along with a touch of garlic. 1a) Side dish: Nice little garden salad including green lettuce, diced purple onion, chopped tomato, grated carrot. Chose blue cheese dressing to use for the "Buffalo Burger". 2) "Buffalo Burger" is extra finely ground, plush, velvety Bison meat. So when I ordered it medium rare, the patty turned out mushy. Next time, I will order it medium to firm up and give more of a chaw to the meat. Opted for two slices of not too crispy, meaty bacon. Mayo, tomato, green lettuce leaf, grilled onions, cheddar cheese, dense brioche bun. I spread on the blue cheese dressing to give a little funk to what I thought would be the blood minerality of the Bison meat. It's another substantial dish. 2a) Side dish of standard French fries which was crisp as requested although it didn't quite have that ineffable earthy, mildly sweet, potato flavour 1-2a) Allegiance India Pale Ale, Lancaster CA was a good counter to both food items. Dry, heavy bodied, fruity with scents of orange zest, lacquer, touch of cleansing acidity. 49'er doesn't leave you hungry so didn't have enough room for dessert. I took the Elk sausage home and made sandwiches for two meals. So eating at the 49'er isn't as expensive due to the big portions. 4 stars

We really need a solid Mexican restaurant in the Santa Clarita area--somewhere that actually delivers fresh, flavorful food and goes above and beyond. Service was ok. Brian H. I was in the bar when you were there. You were both being ridiculously unreasonable and outright ludicrous. If you don't have any money to spend when you go out to eat, stay at home!!! I was sitting right next to you.... you didn't order no top shelf. If you wanted a specific liquor you should have specified it and pointed it out, not acted like a big baby in front of everyone. I believe your wife was doing all the talking too. I didn't hear a peep out of you. It was hard not to notice the scene you were making and I couldn't enjoy my diner. Don't come back, please. It really irritates me when people come here on the INTERNET and bash a place for no good reason. Especially when it's a couple of bigots like these. LOOK AT THE PEOPLE THAT WROTE NEGATIVE REVIEWS HERE..... They have virtually NO OTHER POSTS!!!!.... That is so wrong!!!! I would like to write a full detailed review of this place because I love it. Food is a 4 -- red salsa is a 5+. Service is a solid 3-4 -- so why do I give it 2 stars??? THE TOWN DRUNKS ARE RUINING THIS PLACE. I say "drunks" in plural but there's really one main loudmouth that makes eating in the bar impossible. I used to like to eat in the bar because they have multiple TV's and you can eat and watch sports. The one guy I'm thinking about is a blue collar redneck looking guy missing a few teeth who seems to walk in plastered and only get louder and more nasty as the night wears on. With all the laws about over serving and the ABC around you'd think Management would really enforce some decent behavior -- they have a lot to lose. And?? If someone is plastered and sleeping face down in their chili I could care less -- I'm not some prude -- a few drinks don't bug me -- it's the really really LOUD drunks who can't handle their booze and act like a ticking time bomb that make it impossible for regular folks to relax and enjoy their food that forced me to write this review.BUT HEY THE FOOD IS GOOD -- so do take out -- just stay away from eating in the bar until they clean up the riff raff... read more

Authentic quality. You really can't find food with recipes cooked just like home. The food is 2nd to none. All the staff is really friendly and attentive. I don't understand all the whining that occurs on yelp, but I suppose that's what people come on yelp to do. (Notice most negative reviews are from people who ONLY do negative reviews)Especially if they play favorites with the staff, say they love the food, but then give a one star review. Maybe they are used to being spoiled by a particular server and expect the same from others. Every server I've had here is very nice and attentive. All you have to do is communicate with them and let them know you need something and they always do it with a smile. The authentic Mexican plates are the best. The ones deep in the menu that people overlook. The menu is so expansive that you can always try something new and you will almost certainly love the plate. This restaurant has been here since 1997 and it's easy to see why. Their quality of food speaks for itself. In a small town with not a lot of options to eat Maria's will always be a welcoming environment with a great selection on their menu! Plenty of choices and the chips and salsa are THE BOMB! I'm sharing this because I would strongly recommend that customers check the final amount that posts to their card after dining here. Our group split the bill between two credit cards. Our friends covered the 20% tip for the entire table on their card to even out what we each owed. I specifically remember crossing out the tip line on our receipt because we had discussed with our friends that they were covering the tip. The next day, when our credit card charge posted, we noticed that an additional $40 had been added to our card as a tip. Our server was Oliver. My husband immediately called the restaurant and spoke with a manager, Luis. Luis was very nice and professional about the situation. He was able to look at the restaurant's copy of our receipt and agreed to refund the $40. He also offered us complimentary margaritas if we came back, which we appreciated. The filet mignon tacos were good, and I appreciate how Luis handled our call, but after this experience I don't think we would feel comfortable returning.

Our waiter was also very attentive throughout our meal. The food was REALLY GOOD! I ordered the Mexican Benedict and absolutely loved it, it was full of sauce and had sooo much flavor! My friend ordered the Huevos con Chorizo with a side of Charro Beans, which are her absolute favorite. Overall, great food, great service, and a beautiful spacious restaurant. Definitely enjoyed our visit!
