I've never met a margarita I didn't like but I did here. They say it's the best happy hour in Kapaa but we found that it really was lack luster. We ended up getting a margarita that wasn't on the happy hour menu and for the first time ever I had to send it back. They were kind enough to take it off the bill, but I was just disappointed. I took my wife and daughters to this place because we craved Mexican food. What an expensive mistake! The service was horrible. The waiter made us feel as if we were bothering him by coming in. We had to repeatedly ask for chips and salsa. I can kind of understand slow service if the place was busy but there were two waiters and two bus girls serving 5 tables. When our waiter took our order he kept getting it wring. Then when the food came out, he still got it wrong! How difficult it to NOT put sour cream on the plate? We ask for corn tortillas and got flour. The best part is I ordered Dos Equis draft. The waiter brought out the beer in a warm mug! Does he go to the extra step of putting the mug in hot water? We went to Marachi's last night to watch the UFC fight. We had the chorizo cheese dip and the bacon wrapped shrimp. For dinner my wife had the avocado salad and I got the steak burrito they were both delicious and fresh! Also, I had the margarita with a corona upside down on it. It was very delicious! Since I'm from Texas, I figured I needed to try some Mexican food on Kauai. We were seated very quickly, chips brought quickly, water and food brought quickly and then we were forgotten. No refill on water, no check-ins and I had to get them to prepare the bill. We had a taco salad which was very large and a special burrito with potato, corn, avocado, black beans etc. But it was a burrito- nothing else on the plate, nothing on the top of the burrito, nada. I've never seen a burrito served all alone on a plate. Maybe at least some pico or sour cream? The restaurant was clean, but attention to customers could use some work. read more

What thieves. My boyfriend, friend, and I came in for happy hour. We ordered three shots for $4 each, two mixed drinks at $5 each, and one house Margarita for $6. The total without tip was over $50 and we were in a hurry and didn't notice we got so overcharged until after we left. By my math, the bill should have been around $30, not over $50. I won't be going back here, which sucks because we live here and love Mexican food. Food and service blah. I got chili relleno burrito- it was a rice and bean burrito with a 1/2 can of chopped green chilis in it. My husband got a flavorless chicken enchilada that came with no chicken and cost the same. One of our favorite places to go-- the staff is always kind, super helpful, and so welcoming. The food is great, and you can't beat sitting by an open window and enjoying the fresh breeze and colors of Kauai's sky. My family and I just dropped in today for cocktails and some food. First let me start by saying the woman that brought our chips and salsa was horrible. She made it a point to say your required to wear your masks if your not eating or drinking. That was no issue for us what so ever. Then shortly after she left our table we looked around and noticed not one person had masks on and some were even waiting for their food. We received our cocktails and noticed they were pretty much minus the liquor. As we waited staff seemed to walk by and look at us like we were from another planet. That was all we needed. We canceled all our food and asked for our check with the drinks paid and left. I would never recommend this place to anyone. Hospitality is what is called when you decided to work in the food service industry. We know this because one of us works and a server/bartender and kills it as far as tips go. The food was amazing, with generous portions, and very reasonable prices, especially considering the location. They're happy hour features of radio drink specials, and their salsa is fantastic. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY. I downloaded yelp just to write this review. Mariachis was the worst service I have ever experienced. We waited for 10 minutes before even being acknowledged, then ordered 1 drink each. My boyfriend's rum and coke was unacceptably weak for a $10 drink. However we watched an employee chug a 24oz beer while working. We then looked over the menu and decided we should just head next door to the taco truck and thank god we did! Mariachis charged us $5.50 for chips and salsa that should be complementary in every Mexican restaurant. But the taco truck, El Taco Feliz had GREAT fish tacos that we got in less than 5 minutes. The clientele was indeed mostly tourist --- lots of back-home T-shirts and sweatshirts --- but the food managed to be savory without being greasy.
