Welp.....gave it a 2nd try and yet I was let down yet again. I went and bought a $100 gift card for my parents because they love it there. They have been going there for their Anniversary for the last 5 years. I get the gift card because they're open for breakfast and not a word was said about not being open for dinner. Where do I start . 2.5 hours waiting for food or how rude the host was .. 6/5/2020 We arrived at 7pm . We decided to do outside dining. We had a party of 8 people .4 adults 4 children ages 2 yr 4yr 6 yr old & 12. As we were seated we asked the Host to turn on the propane heater . He didnt send a waiter until 7:40pm for our drinks. We asked again about the heater . They say they ran out of propane . After waiting 2 hours 9pm my kids were so cold and tired we sent them back to our hotel room Me and my brother waited another half hour clearly upset. The host was a coward. He would send over the waitress to tell us sorry your food is on it's way We had enough and asked to speak with the manager and wanted our food to go. These people have no respect for family's. They littery would seat a party of 2 and serve them within 20 minutes. If you have a party over 2 ppl go somewhere else. Dont waste your time. They treated us like trash only did they know me & my brother both own serval businesses . Here's the funny part . After all the b.s they put us through they came out with the food to go and a 400 dallor bill . And said we took off the drinks . We ordered 2 cokes . They try taken off $10 bucks We almost walked away . Then my brother said no way do something better . They finally gave 50% Never again . Beautifully updated restaurant with comfortable seating on Atlantic Ave. No water view but it is across from the beach. We went here twice because I wanted to give it a second chance for 4 stars. The first time, we sat at the bar and enjoyed half price apps from 3-6, however there are no drink specials. We enjoyed The Mussels (which they are known for) they had a delicious sauce but were a bit small. The margarita pizza was great- thin crust, fresh herbs, light and not heavy with sauce. Great value for the food during happy hour. The second time we sat at a table. The pasta was cooked well (slightly al dente) the bolognese was slightly over salted but good. Service is a problem both at the tables and the bar. Service at the bar was slow even when not busy. The timing at the table was way off-no time to finish a drink before dinner was brought out. Dinner order requested before we had our first drink seWait staff are idly standing around. Update: we returned a year later (July 2019)and service has definitely improved! I am in disbelief how horrible the manager was tonight. He came to the table , offered us drinks , walked away. Then had our server come over and say we could not drink any further. Why would you come over and ask for our orders and then have your server say we couldn't drink further ? After one round of drinks. In a desireable area like Misquamicut I am always concerned a restaurant might rely too much on location to carry the day. That is not the case here, we had a great meal. Awful!!! I am a local and enjoy my once a year visit to Maria's but today the food and service were awful!!!!! I paid $40 for literally a cup of food. it was suppose to be lobster risotto and It had zero lobster, the scallops were overcooked.. the risotto was cold. Food was decent but drinks were absolutely horrible, we couldn't have more than a few sips. Our waitress was extremely cold. She was so accommodating to other tables around us but basically ignored us the whole time. Every time we tried to make eye contact and get her attention, she flat out ignored us. I had to call over the manager (I'm assuming) to get our check because we were waiting for so long and he was the first person to walk by. I also went a majority of the dinner without water because no one came over with a refill. We didn't ask for anything out of the ordinary and feel like we expected the bare minimum from this place and that wasn't able to be delivered. First off I want to say Marco was the best. He was so nice and a wonderful server. However I got the bolognese which was not only over priced, but the meat was over cooked and lacked flavor. I'm not to keen on Italian dining since my mother is Italian, and I can enjoy Italian cooking any time I desire. However, last night I decided on italian, and was disappointed. the inside of the restaurant was decorated really nice, and the lighting and the music made me feel like I was in an authentic italian restaurant. There seemed to be a lot of people at the bar, and they all seemed to be enjoying themselves, but we decided to get a table since there was one available. When I first looked at the menu I was a little shocked to see that going rate of a meal was somewhere from 15 to 30 dollars, and I thought that the food must be really good, or the portion sizes might be on the larger side, but instead I was given mediocre tasting food, and not a lot of it. The service didn't suck but it wasn't the greatest either I always seemed to find my cup empty, and having to ask for more water, but they were courteous, and friendly. The food it's self was presented really nice, on modern plates, and it looked like the chef put a lot of effort into how it was presented, and if the food was grossly over priced I might have rated this place 4 stars. read more

We've stayed near Maria's the past couple of years, but hadn't tried it as of yet. On our most recent trip to Westerly we tried take-out one evening, and we'll definitely be sure to return when we go back to Westerly next summer. Maria's is located right on Atlantic Avenue in Westerly, along the beach. If you're staying in the area (either at one of the hotels or renting a house on one of the side streets), that makes it a very easy walk for dinner. Everything we ordered was great. We started with the lobster pizza, calamari, and fried mozzarella, and all are recommended as starters. I'm always a little leery of lobster pizza since the other flavors of the pizza can overwhelm the lobster, but Maria's version highlighted the taste of the high quality lobster meat. In terms of the entrees, we shared the lobster mac and cheese and eggplant parm. Again, both were quite good. Overall, Maria's is definitely recommended and one of my new favorite spots in Westerly. read more

Made a reservation, got a text verification then when we showed up on time they declined our reservation stating we didn't supply a phone number for their telephone confirmation. Not to ruin my wife's evening, we waited a protracted amount of time to be seated at a crammed in table in a room less than 50% full. I returned the next day to discuss with the Mgr. they were not there I was told to leave my number and the owner would contact me. Two days later and no contact. Service is great; they have a full staff this summer and everyone is on their game. My Espresso Martini was very sweet and not to my liking, but I acknowledge some people like it that way. Prices have gone way up. Husband's lobster pizza was bland and the crust was chewy. My Stonington scallops were watery and poorly seared on a bed of bland couscous. Raw oysters and little necks were excellent--we should have stopped there. Crème brûlée had obviously been sitting around for a good long while and was unremarkable. Our $250+ dinner for 2 should have been better and in the old days it was worth it. In the new post-Super Storm Sandy restaurant there are some really dreadful tables that the hostess will try to seat you at (can't blame her) and with modern affluent parents you're also going to get strollers in the aisles, screaming babies and toddlers, no matter how late your reservation (can't blame Maria's for that, either). I long for the old Maria's and its flavorful, memorable food. read more

I am so glad we found this place! Truly delicious. Their attention to detail is incredible. Every cocktail, every plate, is well thought out and well executed. Definitely try the homemade pasta (I reluctantly admit it's better than mine) and the scallops. The fish was also fresh and very well cooked. Always have loved Maria's food and atmosphere but the last time I went wasnt the greatest. Very slow service and not the kindest workers. After 45 mins of not receiving our apps or entrees we asked multiple times to cancel the apps because we didn't want them anymore... appetizers came out about 30 minutes after the entrees came out and we were fully charged. Used to love it here but it's pricey , service is mediocre and food is meh. I came here with my family and thought my Dad was going to walk out. The bread tasted like it was a week old. I should have know then it wasn't going to be a good experience. The calamari was so chewy I couldn't eat some of the pieces. I got the salmon and risotto. The risotto was amazing, the salmon had a weird taste and was over cooked. My husband got the pork chop parm and it was good. Pasta was over cooked but the pork was good. I heard about this restaurant on Facebook so I liked them and continued to get updates. That being said I decided to spend my birthday with them. I can't believe how spectacular our meal was! We started with the shrimp cocktail (enormous) and then ordered the veal parm and their own Beef Papardelle Barolo. What can I say other than FANTASTIC!! Our server Maria was in control and she guided our bus guy Anthony to perfection in training. Desert and cappuccino with Sambuca was the bomb! Maria's is a wonderful American-Italian restaurant located directly on Misquamicut beach. It has amazing views from the 2nd and 3rd floor suites, and the first floor is steps away from the sand. The staff are extremely attentive and professional. The food is fresh, well-seasoned, and hearty. For the type of restaurant that Maria's is, the food is high quality and worth every penny. By the way, if you are looking for authentic Italian food, you should shut up and go to Italy. This is America. It's time we embrace this type of cuisine and stop comparing it to the food in a country across the Atlantic. In conclusion: at Maria's you will find high quality, Italian-inspired or American-Italian cuisine, with views of the Atlantic Ocean. Maria's is top-notch. End of discussion. I think this is a great spot if you're on the beach looking for a nice meal. It's way more tranquil than some of the other joints on the strip (although when it's busy it is pretty hectic) and the food is just a notch or so up from the other spots. I've had pasta, steaks and fish here and all were excellent. The service is usually pretty good, although I've had some off nights. Overall, I'd say that this is a great seaside restaurant if you're already in Misquamicut but it might not be someplace I would travel to if I was somewhere else. read more
