We've been here a few times and have been pleased with everything we have tried. From the garlic French fries to the chicken schwarma! Hummus is great, fish and chips not on the menu but they make it for you. Used to have a hard time getting the hubby to Mediterranean restaurants but he always says yes to Marilyns. My new year resolution is to try and eat more plant based food, going out has made this kind of difficult but I am so thankful that Marilyn was so helpful, she happily explained the menu options ingredients and etc. I ordered the hummus appetizer, falafel, and a couple of other items I don't know how to spell. We've ordered from Marilyn's a number of times and every single time it is delicious.

Exceptional value- started with ceviche made with Halibut was a little spicy but excellent. Our waitress let us know that the rice was being freshly made as they ran out for kebab plates and they went above and beyond with bringing us pita and hummus plates as well as another complete ceviche bowl: no charge. As impressive as that was it paled in comparison to the kebab plates that all of us ordered. I have been to restaurants serving this plate and none were as tasty, or tender as as this one. You could cut the meat with your fork and the spices used only make you long for more. While I've had "greek" style salads before the dressing used on mine wasn't a favorite for me. Yet, the rest with the basmati rice that bedded the kebab was equally delicious with I believe a curry type of seasoning. My wife who's Anglo Indian has had many dishes like this and barely rates kebab dishes as warranted them higher than good but rated this meal a 5. She's even inquiring about having them cater her sisters upcoming birthday so that's a huge endorsement. The price relative to other venues offering the same type merit this establishment very affordable and superior value. We will be back or order as take out as it's so popular that it might make more sense to pick it up. Almost standing room only. Perhaps reservations? One thing to add: This Home Cooked style so if your on a hurry, I suggest you not expect anything speedy we especially if your on a lunch break depending on what you order. My hubby and I went there last night. We had the best service/food experience. It's definitely a family owned business and feels like a mom and pops but I think that's what gives this place character and makes it Simi valley's gem. The food is delicious and the servers were extremely bubbly, well mannered, and attentive. We will definitely be back. We shared the soup of the day, I forgot what it was called but it was delicious and had some type of meatball dumpling in it. We also ordered the falafel platter, shared the lamb kabab meal, chi tea and baklava. Everything was Delicious. And we are excited to try their seafood as they also own the seafood/fish deli/shop next to the restaurant. One of the best things about this place is that this place is extremely reasonable. Great comfort food. If you have a fatuous salad its sharable. The quantity is a lot, but so savory. Fries are crispy and hot. The falafel sandwich is very filling, they really pack it in. I am surprised by the negative reviews of this restaurant. I wish these individuals had the same experience we did on a recent visit. The server was attentive, the food was fresh, delicious and way more than I could eat at a single serving. I was really excited to try this place after so much hype but was a little disappointed. The falafels especially were pretty bad with an odd texture....very gummy and cold in the center. We had to return food a few times (kabob was really undercooked, order mix up). The place is small, the service was pretty attentive despite the issues. This place is amazing! It's a mom and pop's restaurant with that family feel. I had the Chilean sea bass and it was the best I've ever had (and I'm picky about my seafood). Went here with a friend for dinner on a saturday night.The food was good, I had gyro plate, however I felt like they were rushing us as seating is kind of limited and they were starting to get pretty busy. We had never been there before and the waiter also didn't tell us that when you're ready, you pay at the front, so we waited for a few minutes wondering where our check was (duh us). I would visit again, however maybe for lunch or weekday when they seem to be less busy. Overall, good experience though. read more

I found out about this place from an acquaintance and had to check it out. I love Gyros and Shawarmas, but have not had any since I left the middle east when I was in the Navy. These folks did not disappoint! Their beef Gyros are awesome! Plenty of meat and all the fixins you could want at a very reasonable price. Don't forget the desert! This is the worst Gyro meat, Taziki, and Kibeh ever. The Gyro meat is shaved not sliced so the meat is dry & tough with no flavor, the Taziki is watery and thin and also without flavor and the kibeh was dry and burnt, rice was also dry and crunchy. We ordered to go and only got part of our order so had to go all the way back and it was terrible. They did give us a free baklava but it was dry and the layers seperated. I am only giving it 2 stars because the French fries were amazing. Do yourself a favor and go to the Greek house Cafe on Sycamore. Great food there Every time. read more

The chicken was delish, it had great flavor. The tahini dipping sauce was also really good. Their seafood is fresh as they own the sea food market next door. I really don;t like to rave about many places, because then they get super popular and the business gets super busy. But I guess that is the point of Yelp!! Excellent food. I ordered the beef kabobs and my wife ordered the kufta kabob and we shared so we got a little combo plate (hint, hint) The meat was well flavored and tender and tit was a nice serving size. My son got the snow crab and shrimp special with pasta. It was nice. I was just confused at the theme of the restaurant. Is it a seafood place, or is it a Mediterranean place? This valley needs a definite infusion of restaurants other than taco joints and chain restaurants, so we always try and go to family owned local restaurants that feature different cuisines. To get good Mediterranean food I normally have to go to Studio City or Glendale. So why not focus on the Mediterranean portion of the business? Not sure. I wish more traditional dished were offered like kibbeh balls, and falafal. While they had a lovely babaganoush, there was no tabouli. This would be a great draw for the vegetarian crowds I guess, but it's not my restaurant. I will be back again next time to try some other dishes. Service was good. We got there early for dinner and it filled up fast. It's a small family place, but EVERY table was taken and there even was a table of 7 on the night we went. Hope this review helps!! read more

SHOUT OUT to Marilyn's Mediterranean near Ralph's market. Not only FRESH Halibut ceviche each one of my kids (adults) truly enjoyed their own meal. Everything is prepared fresh to order so don't expect your order in 5 minutes. Everything is made from scratch here, even the hummus.... Super garlicky and a great consistency. Pretty extensive menu with lots of fresh ingredients. Got food home and realized I was missing pita, humus, a salad and tzatziki for two meals. Nothing pisses me off more than when I place a simple order and there are items missing when I open up the bag. I called to complain and although the guy who answered the phone was nice and said they would give me credit next time I order...do I really want to come back if you can't even get a simple order right the first time I order from you. It's unfortunate because the food was tasty but when you're pissed off before you eat, it kind of ruins your meal. Could of been good but you blew it. Came here for the first time several weekends ago and placed an order to go (2 chicken kabob plates). They were short staffed that night for a Saturday night...ended up waiting 50 minutes for this simple order! They initially said it would be 30 minutes, then it took an additional 20! Got a different dish that was much better. 2 stars because first impressions are very important, and restaurant failed to impress. Doubt we'll be returning. Wow! We decided to try a place we hadn't been to today and saw the reviews on Yelp and decided to give Marilyn's a shot. We couldn't be happier with our decision! We both ordered the Chicken Gyro Plate (lunch) and almost fell out of our chairs when our plates arrived! The portions are huge! The flavor of the chicken is delicious and it was so juicy! He pita is soft, warm and tasty! The salad is super fresh and the dressing is delicious as well. The Tzazaziki was perfect too! Our server was great! So attentive and friendly! He knew it was our first time and brought us a small amount of hummus to sample as well as a piece of their homemade and fantastic Baklava! We will most definitely be back.
