My best friend visited the salon for the first time and was very disappointed in the weave that she had done. I told her that I had purchased a Groupon for a mani-pedi and she was relieved that I was not getting my hair done. Her weave looked like an amateur had done it. So I booked my appointment for my mani-pedi, only to have my appointment cancelled because the person who was scheduled to perform it called off. That was almost 3 weeks ago. I keep calling to reschedule and now they don't have any appointments available for 6 weeks. I really regret purchasing the Groupon. I will call before I purchase another one. read more

Let the buyer beware...I purchased groupons for a no-chip manicure and regular pedicure. It was a really bad experience. The tech did the pedicure first and I kept looking at my heels and I knew she had not done a good job getting the heels smooth. The pedicure was so bad that I decided not to do the no-chip manicure. She also did a poor job on the manicure, she just clipped and filed and did a half job on the cuticles (there was a hang nail that she missed). In addition, I have never had a manicure where they didn't soak your hands before clipping and filing your nails. The tech said it was a "dry" manicure which I believe is something they made up. DON'T GO TO THIS SALON. They deserve zero stars. I smeared one thumbnail on the way out of the door and went back in to get it fixed, along with my other nails that had not been allowed to properly dry, and were smugged from putting on my boots. I had been looking forward to getting my nails done and getting a little pampering for myself. I was so disappointed with the whole situation (I wanted to cry) that I just decided to get out of there, without getting the nails repainted. Do not spend your hard earned money at this salon. I typically don't write reviews but I must say Chari is the best!! It's unfortunate others haven't had a great experience and the reviews aren't as nice but it's probably because they aren't going to Chari. I get my hair done often and I hate being in the salon. Chari is always on time and gets you in and out. I never feel like I'm waiting around and she ensures her assistant is providing the needed attention to all of her clients. I was a loyal client to this salon for months. Although thought the time I was seeing my lash extension professional Barbra she never cared about my time. I always tried to be on time and respect her time. Sometimes things would happen to prevent us from keeping our appointment. But I would always call or text if I would be late or if it was a problem. I consistently asked for a 2 week standing appointment and every 2 weeks I was asked to reschedule or move my appointment so she could accommodate other clients, which I thought was extremely unprofessional. If a client wanted to give me money every 2 weeks I would take it. But not this lady. My final straw was when I asked if I could come at 9am on Thursday, she said sure and then called me the next day to ask me to come another time. I said sure so we made it 10:30am. So at 9:25am on Thursday morning I got a text asking if I was coming to my appointment which I thought was weird because we made an appointment. I wasn't able to reply back until 10:15, so from 10:15 to 11:05 I sat in my car and waited for a response. FINALLY when she responded she stated "I text you to see if you was coming why didn't you text me back?" Well I stated that I had my hands full I texted back as soon as I could. She had the nerve to be angry at me like I didn't show up or was late. She never would even be woman enough to answer the phone and speak to me like an adult. She could only text. So if you like your time played with this is the place for you. I will pay 3x's what they ask just to be treated like my time was important. Get your nails done here if you love to waste money, hate having nice looking hands/feet and have hours to waste. I bought a groupon for two no chip mani and pedi here. SO DUMB. The first time I was here, I waited an HOUR for the nail tech. I have NO idea what she was doing since I had an appointment and there was no one else ahead of me. My no-chip started peeling after 3 days. I was in Mexico and could get them fixed so I had to rip all the nail polish off all my fingernails. I was very hesitant to go back but I figured I'd at least get a pedi out of it, the first one was at least mediocre. This time I had to wait another 1/2 hour for the nail tech, different girl this time. She made me soak in lukewarm water that turned cold because she ran off someone to talk on her phone for 20 minutes while I was soaking. When I told her about the peeling from the last no-chip, she tried to tell me it was my fault because I was in water a lot. Ugh...that's why people get no-chips! SO they can go on vacation!!!!!!! this time, my no-chip had some color on the cuticles so I wanted to peel that off. It pulled a little color off my actual nail, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the whole finger doesn't peel off because of it. My toes have a big chip on it 4 days after the mani. Bought a groupon for a mani-pedi and have had the hardest time using it. Wish I had gone on Yelp first. Groupon didnt post the reviews, I wonder why? I see that other have also experience difficulty in scheduling. Groupon is to book a mani-pedi with the listed nail tech. Like most salons I was hoping for a weekend date. There were no openings. All of the nail techs openings were duing the standard work week and work hours. Well it became impossible to schedule anything without having to take off work! Finally I spoke to someone who said that the nail tech who listed the groupon has been the only nail tech for several months and has not worked weekends in several months and therefore is always booked. Well...it wouldve been nice to know thar prior to purchasing the groupon. I give two starts since I have not actually been serviced there and can not speak to that. read more

I really liked this salon. I have been looking for a full service salon for quite some time and I believe that I've found just the place. I am a new client. I booked an appointment for a perm and a trim. When I arrived at my appointment, I was greeted and seen right away. Someone took my coat and offered me a beverage. my stylist, Felicia came out, introduced herself and went right to work. I liked the following: 1. The salon sent me an email confirmation after I booked my appointment. I was impressed. I am very busy and do not always have time to check my voicemail messages for reminders. 2. The total attention of my stylist during my appointment. I was impressed that I was not overbooked with another client. 3. The place is beautiful. The salon is loft-style and is light and airy. i felt happy in this place. 4. Everyone was kind and professional. When my service was completed, the salon's esthetician. Melissa, introduced herself and the skin care services that the salon offers. I was impressed. 5. As I was getting my service, I observed a stylist, who I later found out was the owner, mentoring a young stylist. I heard her giving positive feedback, tips and pointers to improve his craft. That interaction went a long way with me. 6. The pricing. The salon was not too expensive,and i did not receive any hidden fees or surprises with my bill. Flew from NYC for a wedding and had to get my hair done. My hair is extremely curly and I knew I had to wait until the day of to get my hair done so it would remain straight. A good friend of mine that lives in Chicago recommended Marimarshe and scheduled an appointment for me on Friday. Unfortunately, the weather didn't play nice, due to rain, and the wedding rehearsal went longer then planned. My hairstylist, Shari, was very accomodating and allowed me to come the day of the wedding, Saturday, at 4am. Extremely early, but I was extremely grateful. Parking was easy to find and I was buzzed into the shop for the magic to begin. I was offered tea during my styling. Some people are intimidated with my hair because of the curls but Shari was up for the challenge. I must say she did a great job and I was very pleased. After writing the below review, they called me and were extremely apologetic. I got the impression that this was *because* of the review. When I actually went in, however, the woman who took care of me was VERY good (I believe her name was Melissa). I got a brazilian, and I have tough hair. Almost every single waxer I've been to has complained about how how much hair I have, and how resilient it is. Not Melissa. I mentioned that I get a lot of complaints, and she just laughed and said her clients are usually much worse. It was nice to hear for once. She was very thorough, didn't leave any patches or bits (has happened to me a lot). It was one of the least painful waxes I've had, and she didn't have to go over spots she had waxed again (THE WORST, it really hurts a million times more afterwards when they decide to do this). The place itself was clean and bright and pleasant. Since the actual experience went well, I'm bumping my rating back up. read more

Marcia has been styling my hair for a while now. I can't say enough good things about her! She is a phenomenal hair care professional and business owner! Her eye for color is amazing! Thought I'd get a treat by purchasing a Groupon here for a mani-pedi and boy was I wrong. I went after work hoping for a relaxing experience and it wasn't really. The actual service was provided by Erica. From the finished product of my pedi I should have known that the no-chip mani was not going to go over so well. The callus on my feet were not paid much attention to, my toe nails were not filed and there is still polish left around my cuticles. As for the no chip, because I've had it before I know that this is not how it is suppose to look. I'll start with the fact that Erica said that it was going to be a dry manicure....huh? A dry manicure for no-chip...that was new! I said I wasn't aware of this and had to check my Groupon and it says nothing about that; all it says is you'd receive a 60 minute manicure with gel which I probably received 35-40mins of. After I got over the fact that I wasn't receiving a full manicure, the next upset came when Erica was using the metal cuticle tool to clean up the dried gel lacquer which hurt like hell. She apologized, but continued and said they ran out of wooden sticks used to do this. The finished product was horrible. I was embarrassed and I didn't even do the job. The fact that there is a whole groupon page dedicated to this salon's no chip offer and 510 people have purchased it and they RAN OUT OF GEL TOP COAT while doing my nails only goes to show me that they are not real serious about business. I was told that the owner would be informed but what does that matter now while Im sitting in the chair and my nails are half done because there wasn't enough top coat. Sad! I mean I have gel running along the side of my cuticles and underneath my nails. Im sitting here now trying to figure out how to clean it up, but realized I am going to have to strip my whole nail with acetone because I can't go around with my nails looking like this. Overall, I don't feel like the business will succeed based on the service provided, its location... oh and the fact that its winter and was about 50 degrees in that place tops it. It's been quite a few years since I've been to this salon for the first and only time, but the experience left a lasting impression that has stuck with me through the years, that I've been wanting to share for quite some time now. I was going on to my sophomore homecoming and I google salons near me, and I came across this one. I wanted a simple sew-in weave, with the ends of the hair lightened to give an ombre or balayage effect. I made an appointment with a stylist at the salon, who's name I don't remember, for 11:00am, days before the day of my homecoming. I arrived 15 minutes before my appointment, and was not greeted when I arrived, I waited for about 30 minutes before the stylist I booked even spoke to me to tell me she was finishing up on another client. I waited for literally 3 hours before I actually sat in the stylist chair. I was not acknowledged by the owner, the receptionist, or any of the stylist in the salon during this time period. I felt invisible and less than a person. When my hair was finally being braided for the sew in, another stylist in the shop braided my hair, very loosely, in large jumbo braids, unfit for a sew in weave. I wasn't asked if I'd had my hair washed, and no one washed my hair beforehand. When my hair was done being braided, the stylist I originally booked with, at this point had finally finished her 2nd client she had taken for the day, despite the fact my appointment was first. She said that my braids were extremely loose and began taking them down to redo them. The stylist who braided my hair noticed and angrily asked why she was redoing the braids, to which my stylist responded by saying that I said the braids were too loose and I needed them redone. When the other stylist walked away, she whispered in my ear that she had said that to keep the peace in the shop. I felt extremely uncomfortable having being apart of a lie and overbearingly disrespected given the fact my entire day was spent in a salon being treated as if I was less than a person by every single staff member. My sew in overall was very loose and was plain hideous to say the least. Mind you, I was a 15 year old child who had never been to a hair salon on my own or even received a sew in before. I left, unsatisfied and confused as to how a salon could ever receive clients with such horrible customer service. I spent a total of 7 hrs in that salon, needless to say I was late for homecoming, barley having made it. I take full responsibility for not speaking up for myself, taking such blatant disrespect, and simply not leaving the salon, yet never in my life have I had such a horrible experience and wasted so much time and money. I couldn't imagine things having changed since I've been, despite the fact that I'm an adult now, just off the fact that the vibes and auras in the shop were plain negative and calloused. The only positive thing about that experience is that it helps me ensure I never treat anyone with such disrespect and value my current and future clients, since I'm in cosmetology school now! I still don't know if I was disrespected because I was so young but regardless I was someone with feelings and somewhere to be. BEWARE AND BE CONSCIOUS!! I purchased a groupon about a year ago. the Massage was off the chain on point--Marge i think is her name??! The facial was strong and left my skin peeling for a good week or two and the person doing the facial was big into trying to upsell. She actually did upsell me during the facial, and for whatever reason, I did not realize it until they asked for the money. However, the facial was relaxing. So much so, that fell asleep. They seem to have a nice manicurist there, however she had to leave. I was left with a young lady who probably had not touched nail polish since beauty school. Litterally, a 10 year old probably could have done better. I think it was careless of the salon to leave my services up to someone who does not normally do the services. Its like, becuase its a groupon, it doesnt really count. Overall I liked the look of the salon. Manicure service was worst than bad. I happened to read the reviews of others while I was sitting in the salon waiting for my services to begin! I was mortified at what I read! Well my experience was NOTHING like the experiences I read about...I too purchased a Groupon. My Groupon was for lash extensions! My experience was excellent from start to finish! The receptionist was pleasant she greeted me and inquired about my appointment time and my name. She gave me a questionnaire which had questions concerning my daily habits concerning my eyelash care. I completed the questions and the lash tech (Troy) approached from the back , she collected the questionnaire and read it. Troy led me to a private servicing room. She asked me a series of questions based on my questionnaire answers. Troy was outstanding! My lashes are EVERYTHING!!! I love them!! I've received so many compliments on how natural they look! Well, first I will start with the receptionist who is not friendly at all. She needs to get to know the clients name and greet the clients by using their own . She runs around the shop like a chicken with her head cut off. She walks back and forth not getting anythins accomplished. But she does make good cup of coffee. Next, the owner Marcia has bad customer service. She comes in early but makes it her business to eat breakfast while the clients are waiting. She also walks around talking to her staff or better yet other visitors while the clients are waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting and WAITING. The clients time is valuable also. Marcia is not a good styliest but she does know about hair care. The prices are extremely high and to walk out of the shop disappointed is not a good feeling. They drink alcohol while on the clock. I know we are told not to drink and drive but they should not drink and try to style hair either. This shop could be an awesome place but it is truly a JOKE. One more thing Marcia's assistant has no people skills and she is too heavy handed while washing my head. I have an headache when she is finished. I was also asked by Marcia to go on Yelp and rate the shop a 5 star and then I will get $5 off of my next visit. I cannot tell a lie and have others thinking they will be pleased with her work. Now, the other stylist Tricia is an awesome stylist and there is one more but I cannot remember her name. So, Maricia better appreciate her staff because they are the ones with satisifed clients.
