I am a mother of 3 amazing children and as a single mother of 3 with no family to help raise them, I must admit life took a toll. When i first moved to L.A. about 1 year ago i was on the search for perfection and to find the right go-to cosmetic doctor. It took me many tries, every doctor I talked with didn't have the same vision I had for my body and some doctors were just down right rude and unhelpful, didn't give me direct answers to my questions. There is a lot of health risks going into surgery and I wanted to know everything before going under. I was feeling really discouraged and almost gave up on my whole search. My last attempt I came across a surgeon review site and stumbled across Dr. Azad. I noticed he had really positive reviews and really happy clients. I immediately gave his office a call to schedule a consultation! ALL of the staff were very friendly and so knowledgeable ready to answer all my questions. My consultation was wonderful, Dr. Azad thoroughly explained everything so I could understand exactly what he was going to be doing. I was looking to give my booty a little boost and make it more plump, Dr. Azad explained in detail what part of my body he would take the fat from and why it was different to everones anatomy. After that he began to tell me how to prep post surgery for the best results, and sent me home with an easy step by step handout packet for aftercare instructions. I was excited and ready that day to go in! We scheduled for a month in advance. The day of the appointment I was so worried and nervous, I went in and they had the bedroom already set up for me, no additional waiting and made me feel so comfortable offering me a water and a heated blanket. I finally was the most relaxed i was going to feel.....next thing you know I wake up!! felt like 5 mins!! my body was sore but i knew it was for a good cause! I was astonished with the results, no scaring and exactly what i was looking for X10! Consultation: I had a great consultation experience with Athenix. My consultation was straightforward. We went over options, and I decided on what I thought would be best. After a follow up meeting with Dr. Azad, we actually reduced the number of areas because he didn't think I needed some of them done. (And I agreed). Procedure: Smart Lipo on abdomen, flank, lower back, axilla Recovery time: I was back at work 2 days post op, back in the gym 4 days post op. I admit, these are not typical timeframes, and yes I was in pain, but the pain was similar to a REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY bad workout. Yes, tat's 4 really's, but I was able to tolerate work and gym using only ibuprofen for pain relief after Post Op day 2. Overall rating: 5/5. This place is horrible. OVER priced, they care all about you, right up until your procedure. Once they take your money and the procedure is done... crickets. I sure got lucky when I found Athenix Body Scupting Institute. With so many choices and procedures out there, I was nervous that I wouldn't pick the right place or get good results. I honestly never saw myself writing such a review as my first impression wasn't the best. I walked in with a 9:30am appt and about 30 min later I still had not been seen. I decided at that moment that this place was just not for me... Boy was I wrong, the moment I stood up to walk away I was greeted by their office manager Melissa. She was so very apologetic and explained how they were short handed that particular day. She asked if I would give her a chance for a consultation, I could tell from the start how genuine she was. 0 STARS!!! THEY TOOK MY MONEY AND DECLINED MY SURGERY!' WASTE OF TIME, MONEY AND TEARS!!! I went to Athenix Body Sculpting in Pasadena CA, to have a consultation for chin and neck liposuction. I was seen by Stephanie their sales representative, the consultation lasted approximately 10 minutes. I agreed to move forward (not because she was convincing but because the location and appointment time was ideal). Fast forward two weeks later. I was declined for my surgery ( ALREADY CHANGED INFULL $3521.00) after Dr. Vendemia sent me to have blood work on two separate occasion (each test costing $75). Dr. Vendemia stated it was because my PT/PTT levels were " Elevated". I did what any person in my situation would do, I asked for my money back and schedule a doctors appointment with my primary care doctor. After paying a $25 copay for my Doctors visit my primary looked over the original printed copies of the lab work and said that my PT/PTT labs were in a ACCEPTABLE RANG and didn't see why I was declined and gave me the green light for any future cosmetic surgeries!!!!!!! REALLY??!!! Let's fast forward another 2 weeks. After MULTIPLE CALLS, I MEAN MULTIPLE CALLS to Athenix begging for my money back Rena at Athenix claimed she processed my return and that I would see the reimbursement immediately on my end. I called the CC company the next morning and was told that it would take 15 days before my credit would post "IF" she processed the return. The CC company was confused as to why a business would promise a immediate reimbursement. I waited the 15 days in good faith for my credit but was disappointed but NOT surprised that there was NO REFUND! My first payment would be do in 3 days!!! I called Athenix Pasadena and spoke to Rena AGAIN wanting answer. She was apologetic but stumbled over her words trying to give me an explanation. She asked if she could call me back and when she did she guaranteed that this time it's been taken care of. Going to a plastic surgeon should make a woman feel ecstatic. But sadly, my experience with Dr. Perez has not been that. I did research about my breast augmentation for two years and decided to go with Dr. Perez. I'm not unhappy with the results, my breasts look good but they don't look great. Overall as a surgeon I would give dr Perez an 8/10 but the reason I am left with a sour taste in my mouth is due to his staff. I have had my follow up appointments rescheduled multiple times. Today they rescheduled my appointment from 430 to 1:30 and then I came in to them saying that Dr. Perez was stuck in surgery and I would have to wait minimum an hour. Now as a retired nurse, I understand that emergencies come up in surgery but this is not the first time this has happened. There is zero communication from the staff at the front desk. As I searched high and low for a plastic surgeon for my upcoming mommy makeover, I decided to go to Athenix for a consultation. WOW! was that a mistake. Not only was I NEVER seen by a Doctor, the consultation must have been no more than 10 minutes long. I was seen by the receptionist, or payment coordinator, she never told me who she was....although it didn't take much for me to find out she worked the front desk. From the moment I was placed in this very small room, I realized something was wrong. The same girl at the front desk went in the room with me, asked me to disrobe and then just by looking at me said "oh yeah, you need lipo, tummy tuck and a breast lift".....noooooo really????? I proceeded with my list of questions and all of her answers were "ehh, no not really", "um, not really"....What the hell does that mean???? Maybe if she would have somewhat certified, I don't know, like a doctor or something, she would have answered my questions better. She immediately proceeded with pricing, $25K and I was never seen by a doctor; I don't think so!!!! If you must, please go and see for yourself. After all, I learned that places like these really exist and now I am more cautious of where I go. When considering any type of surgery, please do your research and check their reviews. After some digging, I found that the "Dr." at Athenix is not even a certified plastic surgeon. Remember, any doctor can perform surgery, but when considering plastic surgery, ONLY go to a board certified plastic surgeon. Like Karina, I got the Groupon VelaShape deal for 3 sessions. On my first appointment I wasn't even on the books because of a scheduling error and the staff was BEYOND friendly, still taking me in that day instead of turning me away like I'm sure plenty of other places would have done (and I live outside of Culver City so that would have been a horrible drive back). During all three sessions the staff was amazingly sweet. Sometimes when you're a Grouponer you're treated less than ideally. Not the case here! Definitely recommend Athenix. As for VelaShape itself, I was told that not everyone gets results. However after three sessions I'd lost an inch in my stomach (which was fantastic!). It didn't hurt at all and felt like a warm massage with a sucking sensation. Hard to describe, so just take my word for it! read more

I felt fat and purchased a groupon - 3 sessions of Vela Shape. It's suppose to help diminish fat cells. Am I nuts for trying it? Yes. I got denied the Micro-body Contouring, but I thought ok, I'll try the Vela Shape. SERVICE: GREAT service. The front desk are so awesome and the technician who did the Velashape were so sweet. Great service there. They consult with you your problem areas and you go in the room to show your body to the specialist. I didn't have much to lose and didn't qualify for Micro-body contouring. I work out 6-7 days a week and eat healthy and I felt like this didn't really help me. I didn't have much fat to lose in the abdomen - I only wanted my lower abdomen because it's been hard for me to lose fat there. I am fortunate not to have cellulite on my legs yet and so she said not to use it on that. But it's recommended for that! So if I did have it, I'd SO use it on that. VELA SHAPE: It hurts because it pulls at your skin and it's hot. The heat didn't bother me that much. It was the pulling of the skin that was hurting. Make sure you put on some nubbing cream before you do it. And then rub lotion afterwards because it hurts. Even after the third session - hurts. I think it'd work for someone who had more to lose and do it many times. I felt like it didn't work on me. Even with more sessions I felt like it wouldn't had worked on me. I was not expecting to get any treatment done at Athenix, because I was scared. Walking into the office and meeting with Dr. Azad and staff changed my life. The receptionists, and nurses were very helpful in recommending the services, without trying to push anything on me or trying to pressure me to get anything done.
