First time here. Good stuff. Tried the bibimbap and the bulgogi. Should have ordered banchan but next time. There will be a next time for sure - this was enjoyable. I always feel bad posting shots of takeout but it is what it is. On a dreary rainy day I can't get the better half to eat out so takeout it is. Fusion is a good descriptor for the offerings - one thing that stood out was the kale. Never in my life did I imagine I'd be raving about kale :D but the tempura kale was really, really good. Updating my review after giving this place another try--and it definitely redeemed itself! I think the last time was just a one-off with the dish being too salty. This time around, everything was much better. Thr mom box either bulgogi is my go to. My favorite part is still the tempura kale--it's so good--and I always love getting a side of the tempura and a side of their pickles. Definitely a great lunch spot if you're in the area. That said, it's still a bit on the pricey side, but the quality makes it feel more worth it now. read more

I think people are way too kind to this place. And I can see why they want to be. Simple bop box food is trendy and hipster-friendly. But this particular food is not made with love. It's crude. It's over spiced. It's over cooked. It's over heated. And it's overpriced. I wonder if it's not made by an angry chef. I'm sorry but it just doesn't hit the mark. What yummy food! We went to BopBox because we had an event nearby in Georgetown, but also because of its stellar Yelp reviews. We were not disappointed! The place is tiny! There were 5 of us, and we were lucky enough to get one of the two large tables in the establishment. There's some additional seating along the window, but that's about it. The person at the counter indicated that the place isn't really a sit-down place; most people order to-go. And he was right about the latter; there was a steady stream of Uber Eats and Grub Hub drivers coming through the place while we were there. My girlfriend ordered the stir-fried Yakisoba Soy Braised Tofu (vegetarian for her!), and I ordered the Eemo's Kimchi Fried Rice with Spicy Tofu, with a request to be made extra spicy. I love spicy food, and the Fried Rice, with yummy kimchi in it, did not let me down! My girlfriend loved her dish. Two others of us ordered exactly the same dishes (although less spicy). I noticed that they had the Yona Yona Ale from Yoho Brewing in Japan. It used to be that you couldn't find this beer in the US. It was tasty complement to our dishes that three of us ordered. We wanted Kimchi for the table, but they were out that day. I was seriously bummed. Note: you'll use their in-store kiosk to place your order if you're eating in. Went for lunch on a weekend afternoon. Food was great and they have a decent amount of variety with proteins and sauce options. The tempura kale was something my I'd never tried before but was very fun. The potions are huge! I'd recommend sharing unless you're famished. Super fast service and the employee was very nice. Cute vibes in a cute area. I don't think I'll trek down to south seattle just for this spot, but if you're in the area it's worth a try. read more

I found this place on Yelp. I checked out the pictures, and the food looked absolutely amazing. I stopped by for a late lunch. I ordered on a tablet at the front. There is also staff towards the back that take food orders. It took me a few minutes to decide because everything looked and sounded really good. There are a few tables to dine inside and a few tables to dine outside. It seems more like a place to grab and go. The food was ready in fifteen minutes. I decided to try the Mom's Medley with chicken and a Bulgogi Ribeye Bowl. Both items were delicious. I really liked the variety and how colorful the medley bowl was. The eggs, the kale, the wings were all incredible, but when I got the exact same order as takeout a few weeks later, it was massively disappointing. BOPBOX is a good Korean Restaurant. I ordered two Bop Bowels, which consisted of the bulgogi ribeye bowl and the kimchi fried rice bowl with bacon. The bulgogi bowl was excellent, the bowl had amazing flavor, and the portion size was large. The kimchi fried rice bowl was good, but the kimchi was the only flavor you could taste in the bowl. The kimchi fried rice bowl was topped with an egg, but I personally thought it needed 2 or 3 eggs to balance the flavors in fried rice and add richness to the dish. I'm always a little hesitant to try Korean places because my mom's home cooking has set such a high standard. But I am so happy I tried out Bopbox! This small shop is in Georgetown and their menu offers a selection of rice bowls. They have bibimbap, which is a classic korean dish, as well as a bibim salad, kimchi fried rice, and bulgogi or spicy pork over rice. They also have noodle dishes - a japchae bowl and yakisoba. The item that caught my eye was the Bopbox'd dosirak (it's called a bento on the menu) - it was really pretty and colorful and offered a variety of everything. You get rice and your choice of protein, a gochugaru napa slaw, pickled red cabbage, kale tempura (twi-gim!!), japchae, a soft boiled egg, and a small piece of tofu spring roll. For my protein, I picked the spicy pork bulgogi - that's one of my favorite Korean dishes to eat. I ordered through the self-service kiosk. The shop has two tables that can seat 4-5 people and then two bar seating areas that seat two people each, so it's not huge. But a lot of people were picking up takeaway orders. I ate my food there - water and utensils are self-serve. AND THEY HAVE THE METAL CUPS AND REAL METAL CHOPSTICKS. It was just so nostalgic for me because that's something you see a lot in restaurants in Korea and legit restaurants in K-town. My food came out pretty quickly too. My dosirak was beautiful - very colorful. And it was DELICIOUS. The pork was cooked perfectly and had a great flavor - nice spicy kick. The veggies were fresh and very good. The kale twi-gim blew me away. The fried part was so light and the whole thing was so crispy. It was one of my favorite parts of the meal. I was sad when I ate all of them lol. The egg was perfect. The spring roll was cute. And the rice was purple rice - just like my mom makes!!! It was so much food that i couldn't finish it and took the rest home for dinner later. The employee working up front was super nice - gave me a lid and a bag for my leftovers as I raved about my dosirak (especially the kale). He even mentioned that they have a sister restaurant up in Fremont that I now have to check out! I love some of the twists they do with their food and love that the bowls or customizable (you can sub out the egg or sub out the rice, etc. And the veggies were so good and I desperately need to eat more vegetables in my life. Of course after trying Made in House, I wanted to try Bopbox. Got the daily bento with bulgogi and yakisoba with spicy chicken. Loved the kale tempura and egg plant in the bento. The bulgogi is so flavorful. The yakisoba was great too and loved the addition of kale in it. You get a lot of noodles with this meal! Also got the wild raspberry hibiscus drink which was a bit water downed. This place has a few seats in it but noticed most people order to go. I opted for the bento with grilled chicken. Everything about this bento was amazing, except for the chicken. The chicken was dry and hard. But other than that, it was all delicious. The egg was a perfect soft boil, the yolk creamy. The spring roll bite packed so much flavor despite being vegetables and tofu. The cabbage kimchi, flavorful without being overpowering. I was hungry so I ordered two items, ok?! I liked the japchae a little bit more so I finished that. The japchae had rice underneath but I liked it coz the rice soaked up some of the extra sauce. The pork belly was perfect with the japchae. It wasn't too fatty or too oily. The bulgogi was also really delicious! Didn't read carefully enough to realize that an egg was already on it and added another but it worked out perfectly cause I was sharing with a friend. I got the Mom's Medley and added a cucumber kimchi and an egg went with the hot boo sauce. The ingredients were fresh and a generous portion. I enjoyed the variety of textures the tempura kale was a nice touch, and the sauce was spicy but not overly. My friend bought a passionfruit spritzer for me. Parking sucks, but that's true of all businesses in the area. The decor is more industrial than Korean (but this IS Georgetown). More like "Korean inspired." This place has been on my list for a long time but I've never quite made it and I was missing out! It's a take-out only place right now. Ordering was super easy - the options in each dish are laid out in 3 steps of choosing protein, sauce, and add-ons. Lots of chances to substitute and subtract for dietary needs. I ordered two mom's medleys - one with bulgogi ribeye and hot bop and one with ginger tahini. They cooked one egg all the way as I requested it and one was sunny side up - and perfect. Both dishes were DELICIOUS. First of all, they were beautiful - colorful and fresh. Secondly, the proteins were chopped up really fine so you could get tastes all throughout - but not so fine you didn't get the texture. And speaking of texture - wow - so many different moments of crisp and fermented and dense and light. Every bite was colorful and interesting and a little bit different. I'm not sure whether you can call this place authentic Korean cuisine or 'Korean-inspired'. Is it worth the visit? Read on... THE ROSES: The food itself is actually good; quite good, as a matter of fact. Ingredients are top-quality and the dishes are very tasty. Pretty much everything - including sauces - are made in-house (and I DO love their sauces - particularly the Hot Bop sauce, which is amazing !). Staff was very pleasant. THE THORNS: If you come by car, getting here can be a challenge. Street parking is very limited. There is a pay lot about a block away, but at $5 that may seem a bit steep if you're just wanting to pop in to grab some pickup (it appears most of their business is 'to-go'). Traffic on Airport Way, particularly during rush hour, can be really bad. Inside dining space is rather limited. There is no table service; you order either online on your own device or use a touchpad in the restaurant that isn't the quickest to navigate. This can be a challenge if you have people waiting to use it. This place also seems a bit expensive for what you're getting: a 'Mom's Medley bibimap bowl with an extra egg, extra meat, side pickle and sauce with a cup of tea set me back over $35. THE VERDICT: I'm honestly not sure the food and service (which are great!) completely offset the hassles of traffic and parking. With a total bill for the Mrs. and I being around $80 (and no booze!), we're starting to get into a Fine Dining price point. I guess if you can avoid going nuts on the extras, you can get this down more into the good Value for Money range. Recommend. read more
