It's got that comfy, vintage feel that makes you want to hang out We got the thin crust deluxe, and it was awesome. Super crispy, tons of toppings, and so much flavor. Marion's really knows how to make pizza, it's a local favorite for a reason But...we had a weird thing happen. We ordered the same pizza as another couple, but theirs came out in 10 minutes, and we waited over 30. This is a childhood favorite of mine from coming here after swimming meets during the summer. Now, it's always a must stop over when I'm back in town visiting family. Just the smell alone will entice your appetite! I love everything about Marion's pizza; the super thin crust, the tiny square pieces, the touch of sauce and the way the sausage is crumbled. The meld of flavors is phenomenal. Service was friendly from ordering the pizzas to the bar service for our drinks. If you are interested in something other than pizza, they have an excellent deluxe dinner salad, as well as other salad options, fish sandwiches, meatballs, and submarines. One of my brothers-in-law selected Marion's as our post funeral gathering for my dear Mom-in-Law's funeral last week. It is spacious and would be a good place for large groups and has a game room on the way to the restrooms. The first thing I noticed was the carpet. What about tropical themed carpet screams pizza and Italy? Also, the dusty fake flower arrangements on the walls were the next distraction. Their drinks [that I could discern] are in reach in coolers like at a convenience store. I was hoping for a decent wine option and all I saw were the airplane style Sutter Home variety in a 4-pack. Hard pass. I didn't see any water/fountain drink dispensers, or pitchers of tea for sale. Daughter had a bottled water. The staff working the counter were friendly and polite and didn't rush me as I was pretty emotionally drained after the funeral. Our group was probably 20 people around 1 in the afternoon on a Thursday. Daughter had a side salad and said it was good. 1 brother-in-law got the veggie pizza and daughter had some and enjoyed it. Hubs and I opted out of food or beverages. The group ordered quite a few pizzas, and everyone seemed to enjoy their selections. The highlight for me was the walk down memory lane as I really enjoyed the walls of black and white celebrity photos many of which are autographed. The photos included Bill Bixby, Sonny Bono, a young Rob Lowe, Mickey Rooney, Shirley Jones, Billy Crystal, Barbara Eden, Rip Taylor, a super young Robby Benson, Tim Conway, Jim Nabors and more. I was passing through Dayton on a road trip and Marion's Piazza popped up as a suggestion while we were googling while driving on 70 Eastbound. We got pretty excited about eating really good pizza and it was going to be the high point of our evening before we called it a night at the hotel to get on the road again in the morning. Google led us to a weird location that wasn't the restaurant. We had to hit a U turn a few times to figure out where it was. We arrived at 9:15 PM - I figured we'd be good to eat some pizza and get back to the hotel. We told the staff that it was our first time and they seemed to have major issues with explaining the pizza. We found a menu on the counter and figured it out by ourselves. I guess they were trying to close up early for the evening or maybe only wanted carry out? It was empty inside and they seemed to be upset that we were ordering pizza. The pizza itself was fine. Not amazing or anything. I've had many like it. The service ruined it. The entire experience left a bad taste in my mouth and ruined the evening, to be honest. I would have rather stopped at McDonalds. Or Hooters. Or anywhere else. I guess the takeaway is to only order takeaway and know what you want, exactly. first time ever getting Marion's pizza. this pizza is good but not the best in Dayton. I got a large pepperoni and bacon and the bacon was nice and crispy. Not sure what has happened to one of our favorite pizza places lately. Our last 5-6 pizza's have not been very good at all. Here is a pizza I ordered in Centerville last night. waited 20 mi s for pizza just to be told they couldn't find it! I literally stood there the whole time watching after i paid for it. Manager decides to finally ask me what i was waiting on. Finally made a new one because they could not find original order or pizza? We finally got pizza 37 mi s after we ordered it. Which they stated 10-15 mins as usual. Fast forward. We get home to Kettering and find out pizza is still dough soft and cheese not even melted all the way. Called manager and he tells me he can give me a 25% coupon on a $21.00 half baked pizza. i told him to replace it for next time as it's been an hour now. He insisted i needed to bring back tonight or they can't replace it. So done with this pizza place. quality and service sucks anymore. $21.00 pizza in the trash. read more

Honestly, I've given Marions a shot, over and over. I keep having people tell me its great pizza. Maybe for others it is, but honestly its just consistently not been a good pizza everytime I've tried it. I don't write bad reviews very often, this may be my first, but this was my fourth time trying marions and every time its been this way. The pizza is bland. I was visiting from Arizona and my husband, who is from Ohio, said we had to try Marion's. It was pretty large inside and lots of seating. Tables and chairs are old and the tables weren't super clean for not being busy. I thought it was odd that you buy your pizza at one counter and go to a separate counter to buy your drink. Never seen that before. The pizza came out fast and I was not expecting it to be cut in a million pieces but I kinda liked it. 1 more piece in your brain doesnt seem as bad when it's one bite :) The pizza was pretty good. If you look through the reviews of Marion's you'll see two sides - those who love it and those who think it is nothing special. Most of the time you hear people arguing about New York vs Chicago pizza styles. But alas, there probably is a third - Ohio's Marion's. It is a thin crust and has a different taste/texture than NY or Chicago styles. So if you're hellbent on one of those styles then I wouldn't even bother with Marion's. So here is the low down with my investigating. Those who love Marion's grew up in Ohio, and maybe specifically the Dayton area. Those who think the pizza is bad or meh grew up elsewhere. It is kind of like the weird love of Skyline Chili - people from Ohio have some weird tastes and Marion's is not good or bad... it is simply different. As for me, I grew up here. Marion's was a treat growing up and still is today. My aunts/uncles/cousins all go here when they come in out of town. Took my wife here (Arizona native) and her review was "It was good, but nothing great. Like the bite size pizza pieces." I think that it is good pizza, but I think for the price-point one can get "better" and more pizza elsewhere. read more

Any time I come to Dayton we stop at Marion's. It's definitely a classic Dayton staple. The pizza is great. I'm wasn't too thrilled with the service at this location. We weren't greeted & the lady walked away from the counter mid order. Even the guy at the bar was short. Maybe we missed something before we got here, but there was lots of tension in the restaurant. However, the service was outstanding and the staff had music playing, they were singing and moving to the music, smiling and laughing, had us customers doing the same! I got a large cheese which was a little under 13$. This pizza was good, not great. I loved that the pizza is thin crust, the slices are small and overall flavorful. It was reminiscent of the taste of the pizza at Chuck E. Cheese which is I guess is fitting since I only saw families there. I've been craving a pizza that tastes like my childhood and this is it! Service was great and fast, even at peak dinner hour. I also liked that you could see where they make the pizzas. This pizza is a step above dominos and papa johns. I don't care what anyone says, Marion's Piazza is THE BEST PIZZA EVER! Yes, it's super unique, so if you're not a fan of thin crust, bite size pieces or tangy tomato paste sauce then go somewhere else. It's not fair to hate on Marion's just because they don't offer every style of crust and sauce that joints like Pizza Hut do. This pie is what makes Marion's famous in Dayton, and for good reason! I've been eating these tiny squares since I was a baby, and now in my mid-30's I've got my Floridian husband addicted to the stuff as well. You will not find better sausage ANYWHERE else. It is finely ground with no fillers and no chunks of Italian seasonings so I always appreciate that. Just great meat that totally covers every inch of the pizza! This time we ordered a 13" (which is a large since they only offer 2 sizes, 9" and 13") and got half pepperoni and half sausage. We ate every single piece between the 2 of us in a matter of minutes. It's true love! Every pie I've enjoyed at Marion's has been perfectly baked and they use just the right amount of ingredients so no sauce spilling out on your face or cheese slapping you on the chin. The Super Cheese is another favorite of mine since they top the entire pizza with even more cheese and it becomes a bubbly, baked masterpiece...man, I'm getting hungry just writing this review. I'm so glad they are finally taking credit cards, and I was able to buy a t-shirt on this last visit with their iconic logo on it for only $10 so I left a very, VERY happy girl overall. So if you're looking for a normal pizza, go somewhere else. But if you want a unique pie with quality toppings that will be baked to pizza-perfection, you must try Marion's Piazza. Go to the next counter, get your drinks (draft beer, pop, water) or bring your bottled drinks to that same counter, and if you want them, buy chips here too. Go find a table. Sit, drink, and chat while you wait for your number to be called. Return to the original pizza counter, get your pie, and GORGE. The only toppings I ever choose are sausage and ham. It's salty, crumbly, savory goodness. The sausage has a unique texture that I've only ever encountered here. How in the world can anybody rate this above one star? If you think this is great pizza, you've obviously never had any other pizza. To me, this is about the same as those Big Lots $1 pizzas are used to buy when I was poor and in college. Seriously, I have had frozen grocery store pizza that has been better. Seriously, those of you that rate this as a "staple" of Dayton pizza, have you had anything else? While there are numerous photos on the wall, from the 1960s, it doesn't look like anything new has been done, or any other famous people have attended, in the years since. Great pizza! I remember stopping here when I was a kid on my way to visit family. Haven't been here in o would say 15 years but still as good as I remembered. Ordered a 13" pepperoni pizza and comes sliced into bite sized squares that are both good for kids and adults. Ingredients seem to be fresh and order was fast. We got carry out but the restaurant seemed clean. If I pass back through I will stop back by again and maybe dine in if I have time.
