I am writing about Mario's of Commack to warn others not to order for delivery. The staff and management here believe that you should eat whatever they make for you, and not necessarily what you have ordered. I have patronized this establishment for years and had no problems until the last year or so. It seems when I have an issue with something not being correct or not cooked as per instructions...it is my issue not theirs! I have had multiple issues that have ordinarily been rectified, by them, usually either sending out the right food, or giving credit for future use. That has now changed...I am on their black list because I have complained too many times when they do not deliver what I order. Assuming I am a complainer and no errors on their part. First they indicated that my phone number was some sort of business that they would not deliver to. I was able to order however, under an alternate phone number. Each time they don't get something right it is my fault, nothing to do with possibly their incompetence. I utilize them because they deliver directly and had been going to the Restaurant for quite some time. Their delivery personnel are friendly and courteous as well, initially the management was too. I had an incident where my online order was delivered and the items were incorrect...so I called asked for the manager and he told me that I was wrong and I received what I had ordered. He was telling me "maybe you hit the wrong button" and other nonsense. I had a screenshot of what I ordered, and it did not match their printout. He kept telling me I was wrong, basically implying I was stupid or crazy. After a heated exchange and quite a few expletives, I drove down to the Restaurant and apologized, and showed the screenshot to him. It did not phase him whatsoever, and, as if he already knew, that the IT was at fault. I know this is lengthy and not many will read it, but it must be said. I have never experienced in my lifetime, an food establishment that automatically assumes the customer is wrong, or in fact is not aware of the food they order, and does not try to improve their staff. When anyone goes to a Restaurant they should expect to receive quality food that they have actually ordered, not what the places wants to give them. Had I been in the Restaurant I would not have accepted these mistakes. There are too many items to list here, but just be forewarned if ordered from them, do not be surprised if there are errors in your order. The Manager, said "you're the guy that gives us a bad review in our Email when something is wrong". I told him I was and I was expecting thing to get better. He told me to go to LaScala across the street from now on...which I believe is a great idea. The customer is first priority at LaScala, so it is a great idea. Apparently Mario's of Commack doesn't need Customers. Their food is decent, when it is cooked to order and correct...but at all costs avoid their delivery or you just may find yourself with whatever THEY decide you should get! read more

It's bad enough the nonchalant cashier, and pizza chef bumbling on his smartphone, butchered my order [from earlier today] for a room temperature eggplant slice... Making me wait a good chunk of time for a slice that was far too hot to eat right away. (And I made it a point to repeatedly emphasize, "NO HEAT," which also means no wait time...) What's worse: at the beginning of this month, a manager from this location was reassigned to a sister pizzeria [that I swear by]... And barely lasted there for a few weeks before getting sent back to this dump. (I had no idea "professional" = an insult used by creeps who feel threatened by my mere presence.) Spent my sisters engagement party in the side room rental space, it was a great experience and the staff was beyond accommodating especially John, any thing we needed he was ready to assist. The room is equipped with a private bathroom and space for a great buffet style dinner. They allowed us to make the space out own and decorate with photos and flowers. I was advised that I have the option to drive the pizza back and pick another but it was "going to be made the exact same way and no pizza leaves their location that's not perfect". Absolutely one of my favorite pizzerias on Long Island. I have also been to their locations in Great Neck and Syosset. The pizza is always fresh! Which means it's not sittings round all day. Clearly that makes a difference in taste. I enjoy the thick crust and the sauce is always flavorful. The serious is always fast and efficient so don't worry about your bellies growling for too long during lunch. They serve a variety of Italian meals. The salads are awesome and the portion size is enough for a snack later. Oftentimes they have entree specials. The specials change daily. At this location they have a side room which has great natural lighting. It makes a perfect place for group meals. Of course you know I'm going back!! read more

My friend and I stopped in for a quick lunch and it was great. She got the Greek wrap which she enjoyed and I got a slice of the penne alla vodka pizza. At first I was worried one slice wouldn't fill me up but it was quite the opposite! The pasta was perfect and the slice had the perfect ratio of pasta to sauce to cheese. I couldnt finish all the pasta but the pizza itself was great, the crust perfectly crispy how I like it, and overall a great meal. I've tried their pizza a few years ago, someone at my job brought it in - and I will never forget it, it was the best pizza in the entire world. Then a few weeks ago, I saw this place while driving by and swerved my car right into the parking lot, a bit dramatic, but that's almost how the story went. Long story short, super nice inside - I wasn't expecting that. They are a bit pricey, but their service is spectacular. Every time I've called now to order to go, it's always ready in record time. The food always tastes fresh. The people at the counter are the friendliest. That's the type of place, no matter how expensive, makes you want to continue going. I did try their wrap which was good, they do give you the option of wheat or white. Chicken parm sub - bomb. Located on the borders of Hauppauge and Commack, it sees its share of an executive-type lunch breaks, and is busy and bustling at 12pm. Its decor is clean and modern, and has an efficient staff (no table service). The slices are oversized and have a firm crust. They showcase their gourmet slices, and "the Alamo" is the main attraction, a regular slice topped with chicken, bacon, cheddar, fresh green peppers, and roasted red peppers.. . believe it or not, not greasy ($3.50). They also make a decent buffalo-chicken slice, though I'm more of a traditionalist, and the standards aren't where they should be for this kind of buzz (regular slices: $2 and change). First time I've eaten in the restaurant (as opposed to takeout). We came because our favorite Italian place was packed and had a long wait, so we tried Mario's. Not sure whose idea this system is, no servers to seat you or take an order. Having to order at the register, serve yourself drinks. Timing was awful, I ordered a hero and a salad that I wanted to eat first, but it came out second. I mean all the dishes came out willy-nilly. No one comes to clean the table or take plates away, or offer to wrap leftovers. The worst part is that my hero didn't even come how I ordered it, sausage parm and got sausage, pepper and onion parm. Been coming to Mario's for years, even though it's now a 15-20 minute drive for me. There pizza is okay, but their Italian-American classics are spot-on. As a red-sauce joint, it's one of the best take out places in western Suffolk county and worth the drive. The only reason I'm marking them down from five stars is because of their weird fail on garlic bread. It unbuttered, with lots and lots and lots of raw chunks of chopped garlic. I'd ordered it with mozzerella, which was barely melted. Everything else in the meal was delicious and plentiful. This was a disaster. So me and the wife have been going here since we moved in the Commack area 4 years ago. 90% of the time we go with Mario's for pizza. Within the last year the pizza and size has gone down in Quality but the price stay the same?? So why am writing the review is last night I ordered meat lasagna, garlic bread, and a small Caesar salad. The order came to almost 30$ which I picked up thinking this was enough food for me and my wife I was wrong!! The salad was good size but the lasagna was enough for my 3 year daughter I thought it was a prank. The garlic bread had a lot chopped up garlic pieces on it way to much where we couldn't even eat it. So me and the wife had to make more food and I was out 30$. Listen I have no problem paying money for good food but this lasagna was nothing special and was a very small portion. About an hour past the estimated arrival date (I was being patient because I assumed the delay was from being overburdened from the current covid situation) I began reaching out to Mario's to inquire about the order. You know what, I'm super surprised at the quality of their salads. I'm not a huge pizza person, and I KNOW that's what you go to a pizza joint for. So, I give them extra props for having a tasty alternative to the carby carbs. I get the...V...something salad with chicken, which comes with goats cheese and a nice dressing. This thing is HUGE. I was at an engagement party today for my cousin in the side room that they rent out. It truly was a great experience. The staff was right on top of everything. John was amazing as well, friendly with everyone and was there with whatever you needed. The room was clean and the food was great. The Lemon Chicken is my favorite and the pasta Bolognese was very good too. The room had a private bathroom just for the guests. I would recommend them for a private party or just for lunch/dinner. My thanks to the staff and especially John who kept my dad Dominick entertained throughout the party. We all had a blast. read more
