The line can get pretty long, but honestly I get it. There's this moment of wonder that happens when people realize what this place offers. I've waited plenty of times and never minded, especially when I see families light up because their kid with allergies can actually eat here. Though yeah, the prices can be a bit of a shock! The line isn't any worse than most spots in the Ferry Building, especially on Farmers Market Saturdays when everyone and their mother is there. What I love most is just being able to exist as an allergy-prone city person without the drama. My friends and I split up to grab our coffee and breakfast, and for once I don't have to deal with my friends thinking "wow is she going to be able to eat anything?" Sure, I'm spending more per treat, but having a place I can trust without second-guessing? That's worth every penny. The ham and cheese was in perfect ratio. The croissant has a little sweetness to it that complements the savory ham and melty cheese. The cheese tasted like it's guyere. They can warm the food for you. The cinnamon roll had a thin layer of cinnamon spread between the soft bread dough. Not too sweet. Better eaten warm. Noticeable that it's gluten free because there's no stretch to the dough but still better than other traditional cinnamon rolls I've had. It was soft and not dry. I ordered the bacon and egg breakfast sandwich and it was excellent. Everything was gluten free, which is always a plus, and you would never know it from the taste. The bread was perfectly chewy, and the spicy mayo really tied the whole sandwich together. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. I tried the bagel and didn't like this too much. I had better gluten free bagels, but my partner got a hot breakfast sandwich and I liked the bread for the sandwich way more. I'd get that next time I visit. I purchased flour for $7.50, a bag of 4 biscuits for $20, and a couple of croissants which I don't remember how much. I took advantage of their day old pastry discount, got a chocolate croissant and toasted it in the air fryer when I got home. It was delicious! Also those biscuits were crazy addicting. This place offers the most delectable sweet and savory pastries, pies, sandwiches, and more. It was so hard to choose what to get when everything was so tempting! I opted to try the bacon olive and cheese spiral, and mariposa mcbiscuit. Wow, that biscuit was so buttery and tasted freshly baked, the egg and melted cheese adding to the delicious breakfast treat. The variety of GF offerings is amazing; I had never even seen some of the foods in GF version before (e.g. biscotti, hand pies). While waiting, customers stopped by, only to keep walking after announcing, "Oh it's all gluten-free." You do not need to be GF to enjoy these very yummy foods! Came here for a light lunch on a Sunday. There was a line, but the wait is not too long. Ended up getting a cinnamon roll, a pop tart, and a calzone. Everything was delicious! If I hadn't known this was a gluten-free bakery, I never would have guessed. I'd argue that the cinnamon roll was even better than most cinnamon rolls from "gluten" bakeries. While in San Francisco, I kept hearing about Mariposa Baking from all my gluten free foodie friends. I was luckily staying right across the street so I got to enjoy breakfast and lunch here a few times! The first time I got an "everyseed" bagel because bagels are one of the things I miss the most in my gluten free diet. The bagel is definitely not an "everything" bagel as it was missing the salt on top. I found it to be a bit lackluster in flavor because of this. They also no longer carry lox which I was sad to find out upon arrival since it appears in some menus online. The next time I visited Mariposa, I got a spinach and feta pocket and a ham and cheese pocket. Both were a massive serving size and too big to finish in one sitting - but both very delicious! When was the last time you had a GF hot pocket or cheese pie thing??? Never? oh right! But alas, this place has it. Line could be better organized because it gets cluttered in the small hallway, but it moved fast enough. Last mention: the donut holes. I went by here recently on a Sunday morning before a meeting to grab something hot to eat. I love their hot pockets. However, it was 9:30 am. A number of people around me and I started to form a line. Some people asked the staff questions about the pastries and they answered while putting stuff out. None of the staff thought to tell us that they didn't open until 10 am on Sundays. After about 5 minutes of being ignored, I saw the small sign for their hours. I pointed it out to others and we all left. That was a horrible experience as I was hungry and now didn't have time to get something else before my meeting. On Pi Day, I came by and was pleased they had a number of pies available in different sizes. I picked up a small Chocolate Pie that was low in sugar and a small Cherry Pie. They were the perfect size for the three of us though they could have fed more people. We didn't finish the pies ourselves. The Chocolate Pie was yummy and perfect for me but my husband said it wasn't sweet enough for him. We all loved the Cherry Pie! We went back recently and picked up their pizza dough. Got a cake here for my friend's birthday -- one of our friends is vegan, so I went on yelp and this was the first vegan bakery that popped up near me. The cake was very affordable ($46) and honestly really huge for the price! I got a chocolate mocha cake which was pre made and already ready in the fridge, so it was super easy to grab and go. Very very sweet, really thick buttercream frosting, and the cake texture was quite dense rather than fluffy. It almost tasted like a fudgey brownie texture. The chocolate covered coffee beans on top were a fun touch but quite bitter obviously. If this is your preferred type of cake, run don't walk! read more

The ferry building Mariposa location is certainly better in some aspects than the Oakland location. However, the price still remains ridiculous. I got a Reuben for $17. For this price, I was expecting a normal size sandwich with normal size bread. Yes, gluten-free is often smaller, but at a gf Bakery, where they are charging you $17 for your sandwich, It's not a ludicrous assumption that the sandwich might be normal sized. It was not. It was made with small bread. The sandwich was good, the rye bread was good, they were generous with toppings, but I still couldn't really get over the $17 charge attached to it. I also got two pastries to take home with me, the spanakopita, and the curry turnover. The curry turnover was in that usual piecrust that they use, and the spanakopita was actually in a nice flaky sort of dough similar to their croissant. A little bit gummy, and doughy, but definitely flaky. The curry turnover was really pretty good, filled about halfway not all the way. For the $13 charge, again, I expected it to be larger. It was the size of your standard turnover. I really sort of dainty pastry. The same goes for the spanakopita in terms of size and price. The spanakopita was definitely filled more though. The spinach leaves were entirely whole which means every time you take a bite, a lot of extra spinach comes with that bite. read more
