Amazing donuts with an amazing owner. Always looking to support businesses like these.

So first, these are vegan donuts, and they are baked not fried. With that in mind, they are tasty and more akin to a cake donut. Vegans will love them, non-vegans will find them tasty, but a donut that's fried just hits different. I will go back, but it for sure is not the same, no matter what vegans try and tell you. Owner was super nice, and I'll be back to support him as a local business and hope others will too. In the end, it's a Yummy donut, but make sure you set your expectations so you don't try and compare to fried/non-vegan donuts. It's like having food in Beijing, and trying to compare it to american chinese food, they both are good but in different ways.

My wife and I go to Whack Donuts at least once a week. The donuts are always tasty and delicious. There's usually a flavor of the month so the selection is always changing. They're vegan donuts but don't let that scare you; I'd put these donuts up against any others. The owner, Vandor, is a nice dude too. He's always done for a good conversation. The shop is has a good location right on the Embarcadero. Get some sun and some donuts for lunch....good deal imo. He often sells out before closing time so make sure you get there early.

Yummy vegan donuts! When I went there were only a handful of donuts left, I think probably because it was a Saturday and they don't open on Sunday and Monday. I got one of the special Valentine's day donuts. It was delicious, and I can't wait to come back to try more flavors! The owner was very friendly. The texture of the donuts is more cupcake-y than traditional donut, but I really enjoyed it.

Without a doubt these are the best donuts I've ever had. I'm so happy for Whacko that hood perseverance and great donuts have found success

Feels odd to be the first to leave a neutral review of this donut shop. Came here with some co-workers in the afternoon and ordered one of each - OG, Cinnamon, and Chocolate. The person working at the counter (the owner?) was very nice and gave us a few extra donuts because it was near the end of the day. The flavor wasn't quite there or what we were expecting, especially on the chocolate. We actually had a bit of a hard time telling the donuts apart. I don't know how to describe the texture, but it was on the wet side. To me, it was more like bread pudding than a donut texture. I realize these are Vegan donuts, but I've enjoyed other Vegan desserts before and these were not for me.

The flavors they had all looked amazing! Went for the cinnamon sugar one and it was great! The owner was so nice and wonderful will definitely come back and recommend to everyone!!!

Wanted something yummy after taking in the sights and stopped at this little donut shop. The donuts looked good and tasted even better. The cashier was super friendly and helpful, suggesting which donuts to try when we were unsure. Ended up getting one of each. Sweet but not too sweet, just how I like them. Got a coffee and he gave us a free sticker. Great shop, will come again.

The donuts are delicious! He has flavors for the month and they were sold out of the pumpkin spice. Come in early so you won't miss their special. Service is excellent and very friendly and professional and pleasant owner! Ambiance is a clean and bright bakery. Support small businesses!

A vegan donut pop-up oddly nearby a pre-existing vegan donut vendor in the Ferry Building (i.e. Donut Farm). The donut base seems to be the same fluffy round rings with a few rotating flavors. Tasty for vegan, though $5/donut seems a bit steep given the modest size and sparse layer of basic topping. Cinnamon: This was a dead ringer for those old time apple cider donuts. The perfect texture with a cakey donut ring and lots of crunchy cinnamon sugar. Mixed Berry: I enjoyed this icing, since it really did taste like berries. Better than those neon pink artificially flavored "strawberry" donuts sold from chains. Chocolate: Wasn't a fan of this one. It was just the frosting, not the donut, that was chocolate flavored. And it tasted a little off, like not as creamy as chocolate. OG Glaze (Vanilla): Kinda basic, but there was something nice about that. Got to really appreciate the fluffy donut base with only a little flavor in the icing. It's kinda like those fluffy donuts you get at the grocery store, but much nicer (and more expensive).

Was around noon and stopped by and scooped up a half dozen donuts to share with friends later. Although the day was a full deluge of rain, and I running around town doing errands they safely got home for an evening snack. I got 6 chocolate donuts. The donuts stand out for their senseless and balance of chocolate. Now the flavor profile is something else the subtlety and artistry for the flavors that roll over your tongue make this donut a stand out . My fiends had not idea they were vegan. The owner of this business is delightful and full of positivity. I am so glad I made a journey here and I hope to drop by again soon.

    Today's selection.

Vandor sure had outdone himself when it comes to vegan donuts. No animal product to make donuts is more health conscious than sweet. Glad I swung by Whack Donuts at Embarcadero 4 during an hour lunch last Tuesday. It's a short distance walk from my work place. A barista who happens to be in charge of making coffee will be here every Wednesdays and Saturdays. What I saw last Tuesday were the only flavor selections, so I never was upset if there's no green tea flavor. I might be back starting any Wednesday to try the coffee selection to pair with any sweet vegan donut.

Service was okay - there's no menu and it was hard for us to figure out what was what and if there were additional donuts available in the racks in the back that weren't on display. We wanted to get a dozen of assorted flavors to bring to work to share, and the worker at the time didn't seem to have any patience so we grabbed a random assortment of the 3 flavors in front of us. I got a guava malasada and a creme brulee donut to share as our post-meal dessert, and enjoyed the guava malasada. It was perfectly light and fluffy, coated with sugar, and jam packed with plenty of gauva jam - maybe even a little too much jam. The creme brulee donut was just okay, the sugar was melted so there was no crisp shattering snap, and it mostly just tasted like torched sugar on a custard donut. I'm not the biggest donut fan, but the malasada was good - I didn't know they had malasadas, so I might come back for one when I'm in the area and have the craving for one, though I wish the fillings were custard based instead of straight jam.

Parking is super easy around the area, which is a rarity in SF. Shop is bright and airy, with the most adorable pastel color scheme. I ordered two of their milk chocolate donuts ($5 each), a key lime meringue donut ($6), a blueberry & lime donut ($5), and a caramel apple donut ($6). Donuts are on the pricier side, but the presentation and use of high quality ingredients makes up for it. The sourdough donuts themselves aren't nearly as sweet as standard donuts and have a soft, bouncy texture. The milk chocolate donut was absolutely decadent. Upon first bite, you can immediately tell this donut was topped with real melted milk chocolate. This was levels above a typical chocolate glazed donut. The flakey sea salt garnished on top balanced out the sweetness nicely. Although I will say that I found the richness of the chocolate to clash slightly with the tanginess of the sourdough donut. The key lime meringue donut had a super tart key lime filling and was topped with fluffy meringue. Definitely the most eye catching of the donuts I picked up. But the key lime filling was a bit too punchy and sour for my liking. The glaze on the blueberry & lime donut had a potent and fresh blueberry flavor that went well with the lime zest sprinkled on top. The caramel apple donut was my favorite. The caramelized apple filling paired with the cream cheese frosting and graham cracker crumbs was almost like eating an apple pie + cheesecake fusion but as a donut! Overall, a solid donut place that I'd return to if I'm ever in need of a special treat!
