a plate of fried chicken, rice, and salad
Denise W.

For me, the only reason I will give this place any stars is for the waiter, Omar. Very sweet guy, attentive, and friendly. My husband may give it another star on top of mine as he said his battered fish and french fries were good. The margaritas didn't have a kick to them and priced at $9....it should've had something. I'm a vegetarian and besides side dishes of white rice and beans, there is absolutely nothing else to choose from on the menu. At least have a salad section! If I were asked, "What do you recommend for a vegetarian?" My answer would be....another restaurant.

Dining area decor
Lauren F.

After years of driving by this place, multiple times per day, I finally decided to stop in and have lunch last week. The decor here is super fun and the vibe is really like being at a Mexican beach shack for lunch, with the bar at the heart of the restaurant. The service was great and our waiter was really attentive. That being said, the food was pretty "meh" and run-of-the-mill. I wouldn't say there was anything that really stood out in terms of flavor and everything was prepared appropriately, so it really was just kind of boring food. If you aren't into a lot of spice and want more mild flavors, especially with your seafood, this is a great spot. Additionally, there's almost nothing on this menu that isn't at least $20 per plate. So, for higher prices, I'd sure be expecting better food. I probably won't be back here, but you might have a great experience, so if the mood strikes, check it out.

Pulpo Cocktail. DELIGHTFUL!
Michael S.

Stopped by tonight for a medium Pulpo Cocktail ($14) and 2 Fish Tacos ($4 each). The slices of Octopus tentacles were plentiful and tender in a rich marinade of tomato, onions, cilantro and lime juice. I added a little bit of hot sauce and more lime juice. The freshness and flavor really popped! Then my 2 fish Tacos arrived. Lightly beer battered fish filets on corn tortillas. Mexican relish and cole slaw were added to the Tacos with lime juice and hot sauce. Delicious! Hot and crisp fish surrounded by fresh veggies and held together by a tortilla. I enjoyed my meal tremendously. It was a light meal yet very satisfying. Total after tax was $23.35. I shall return! The ambiance of the restaurant is very pleasant as well. Service was courteous and efficient.

Ours was 1/2 that size x2. 2, 1/2 corn on cob not 2 full cobs as expected, but 1 cut in half. What a total rip off and false advertising!!! We complained the minute we saw how small the KING crab was. About 10 inches long total with about 3/4 inch in diameter in shell! Now I have had king crab before and the legs were at least 2 feet in length not 10". We went home hungry and $104.00 less in our pockets. Manager was our server and only gave us 10% off! This does even cover the cost of the sausages we paid for but never got. WE ARE NEVER COMING HERE AGAIN AND NOT RECOMMENDING!

I was greeted by the bartender who was SUPER friendly and made me feel very welcome. There were others at the bar that asked if I needed a seat at the bar. Very cool vibe. Sports bar vibe....with a family friendly place as well. The second bartender that relived the first one was..nice and friendly, but I did not get that "happy your here "feeling. I ordered the HH cod tacos with slaw, avocado lime sauce, and salsa. They were so good!! The blend of the fresh fish with the slaw....YUMMY. The fish was perfectly cooked. Crisp and not greasy, and so flavorful. I wondered why they delivered a bunch of napkins and ....a few bites in I realized. All over the face, and dripping down the chin....good!! :-) I got a burger to go, with added green chilies. I asked for rare, and I got medium to medium well. Sad panda, but it is still a good burger. I just really love to taste the burger at a rare temp. I also asked for a cup of the gumbo. My first bite was SO salty. I don't know if it was in storage or not fresh, but it was a salt lick. Could not taste the flavor past the saltiness. Good locals place, and prices are reasonable. I appreciate a Veteran owns the establishment and since I am a Veteran as well....I will always support Veteran owned!!

Two visits doesn't make a pattern. But so far my experience is that you can walk in at any time and receive the same dismissive attitude. To be clear, I don't necessarily fault the individuals - this is typically a management issue (coming from someone who has worked behind the bar). Bottom line, a simple hello goes a long way, just sayin. Our business favors those who realize their patrons have options. FWIW this is my first-ever "negative" review. In any state. Take that for what it is. If I don't like a place, I just don't go back. But there's a missed opportunity here, y'all. We went to a different Trident in Tucson and met the best server ever, no lie. I googled "closest Mexican restaurant near me" and this place popped up. Having eaten at the Speedway location and liking it, I opted to try this location. It was 4pm on a Sunday and the parking lot was near-empty. There were several people waiting to be seated when i walked in. I was by myself so I asked if I could sit at the bar. I guess that is a weird request? A server who was cleaning up the dining area helped me with the chips and salsa and then ended up taking my order. I requested the chicken mole enchiladas with a glass of water. My server was gracious. He didn't have many customers but he was busy getting tables ready for the dinner rush. He let me know where there was an AC outlet where I could plug in my phone. I appreciated that gesture. I walked around the restaurant to look at the wall art. The high vault ceiling gives this place a ranchito ambiance. I like the transparent kitchen, too. My meal came out within 10 minutes. The chips and salsa were fresh. The pico de gallo and green salsa were quite good. The mole was a nice balance of sweet and spicy. The chicken was finely shredded and the corn tortillas homemade and thick. I ate the entire meal except for some beans. I left very full 45 minutes later. The only thing I didn't care for was the tipping suggestion. I tipped 20% but according to the chit, the 20% included the sales tax. You always tip on the value of the food and not the sales tax! There is also a 3% service fee for using a credit card.

I didn't anticipate that bc I live maybe 6 minutes from this place. I got the fried fish, fried shrimp and Marine tacotote. All tacos came with avocado and premixed coleslaw/mayo, which I didn't know. Fried fish was soggy and the premixed coleslaw and avocado was just too rich and wrong for this taco. I really wish I had known it came like that. I'm used to having a some sort of crema and fresh component like pico or chopped onion and cilantro. Shrimp taco was exactly as described above with the toppings. The shrimp was way way waaayyy over cooked. Marine tacotote was interesting. It had a huge piece of fried fish, 2-3 fried shrimp, and a tomatoe vegetable, cheese medley with a grilled fish on the botttom. It was...nothing like I've ever had. I can't say I enjoyed it bc the coleslaw was too much and it didn't add anything to the taco. The tacos were HUGE. I didn't need to buy 4. The price for what you get is extremely reasonable ($17) I would give it another chance but no coleslaw or avocado and I would eat it there. The people who own this shop are wonderful and kind.
