The food was just okay. I ordered a tostada El Chaka which includes shrimp, octopus, and scallops. My tostada was missing scallops. When I told our waitress she brought back one scallop cut into 8 pieces and told me that the cook said she did put it in my tostada, but she didn't. My son ordered the ceviche plate. He rated it a 7 out of 10, 10 being the best. It comes with 3 tostadas and avocado. Service wasn't the greatest. They were busy and still the service was slow. Noted a few people come in for the drinks and thinking they'll find something other than mariscos (seafood) to eat. If that's your hope, you're mistaken. This spot is great for those who love seafood. Pros: The vibe. Either music is played by a band or through recordings. Would be an ideal spot to hang with a group. The mariscos is delicious! I'm a fan of the mejillones in particular, but agua Chiles is good too. There is a bit of spice on most meals. Variety of alcoholic drinks which are consistently made. My recommendations are a flight of margaritas, candy shots, or miche's Cons: Price. Understandably, seafood in the desert but it has kept increasing that even a meal for two won't be less than $100. Very disappointed in the terrible service me and my wife received tonight on 03/23/25. We arrived to Mariscos el Chaka at around 10:30pm, waiter took 20 minutes to acknowledge us then another 40 Minutes for our food to come out. He also was not very attentive at all during my time here. We asked for a desert a couple of lemons and refills... NONE ARRIVED. MY wife and I are very disappointed because this place is very beautiful and has very good band music. Unfortunately it has horrible customer service this is the second time we come here and the service is bad. I feel that this is the way they treat every customer who is not drinking any alcohol. Was craving some mariscos and this seems to be my go to when eating close to home. I have not been disappointed with anything on the menu so far. I went with the Ceviche El Chaka plate this time and it did not disappoint it has a mix of different seafoods and was really good. The pulpitos as an appetizer is a must, they are so addictive. I tried the Flan instead of the fried ice cream this time and it was bomb!! Service is always on point and they have a live banda on the weekends. We sat in the dining area but enjoyed the music and vibe so much that we'll be sitting in the bar area next week! The drink specials are pretty good too! It was empty when we went & there were maybe 4 other tables in the entire restaurant, & she wasn't the only server attending people. I'm completely understanding of people working the service industry, but I can't stand when people don't put in any effort when being a waiter/waitress because their table is already 6 people so they're automatically getting a tip regardless of their effort. I even had to get up to ask for our check, while patiently waiting for a few minutes, a group of young men walked in & were waiting to be seated. My waitress completely disregarded me & sat the group of men that showed up. After about 7-10 minutes of standing around, the waitress finally approached me & asked me if I needed the check which I had told her yes, I then kindly asked her if she could please remove the automatic gratuity so we can leave our own tip, to which she claimed she was unable to do. I let her know that I was well aware they are able to remove it, to which she stated the managed would have to do it, I told her it was fine & she could get the manager, to which she responded "Did I give you bad service? I think I did good.." while having attitude. I kindly told her that she failed to check up on us at all & that we had to flag her down every single time, she didnt apologize or take any accountability. I love this place. By far my favorite restaurant in town. The food is on another level. Their shrimp are on steroids, or something, because they're massive. If you order the shrimp cocktail, it's a mouthful of fish from start to finish. I bring the fam here often, and usually get a cozy booth with plenty of privacy and room to spread out. They keep the lighting down low which I like, and the walls are covered with decor. It's a fun and relaxing vibe to say the least. Bring some cold-hard cash though, even if you're paying for the food with a card, if you want to purchase things from the vendors walking around, or for some live music at your table - though it's pretty pricey. They don't force it on you though. As for the service. Well, it could be better. The only reason I wouldn't give this place 5 stars, despite the quality of the food, is the service is frustratingly slow. You can run out of something to drink pretty quick and not see another drop for a while. If you ask for limes, for example, it may be 20-plus minutes before they arrive at your table, and I'm not exaggerating. I think they're just trying to do too much with too few people honestly, as we've noticed one waiter/waitress serving a big share of tables, but this may be different during peak hours. We usually come by around 4-5PM. It's worth noting that later in the evenings they have bands, and it can get pretty deafening for small children. For 2 adults and a toddler, we spend around $120 after all is said and done. That's with entree's, a kid's meal, a side that we share and a couple beers. A little expensive, but worth every penny in my opinion - I don't ever leave feeling ripped off in any way like I do with many other spots in town. Very disappointed with the service and staff. My friend and I went in for dinner and drinks. Our server left early and although he was very nice We closed out before he left so that he would get his tip. We were not done eating. We just wanted him to get his tip. After he left, No one checked on us to make sure we were OK . There was a lady short blonde hair who came to our table, asking us if we were staying for the event. We did not know of an event going on there was nothing posted. She then said that if we were gonna stay for the event, it was gonna be $30 a person. We weren't even done with our food yet and we were already made to feel like we had to leave because we weren't paying for the $30 event per person . There was nothing posted saying that there was a $30 charge . So if you go into this restaurant, know that you may get kicked out if you don't pay the $30 for the event, I guess they don't take it into considerations they are a restaurant and you go there to eat .We asked the lady with the short blonde hair if she could get us containers so that we can go she never brought them them we asked another server. If I could give 0 I would. I went and ordered Aguachiles and my friend ordered the ceviche. Both of our shrimp came back gray. We explained that our shrimp wasn't cooked long enough in the lime juice and that the shrimp was very chewy because it wasn't cooked long enough. The waitress wouldn't acknowledge any of our concerns and kept telling us "that's how it's cooked". We both understand how these meals are prepared (with lime juice ) because we've done it ourselves. The waitress had an attitude the whole time then proceeded to tell us she would not refund our money. once we pressed about it a little she then told us we could come in and the manager could refund us at 3pm that day. We showed up and then was told by another waitress the manager was on PTO that day and wouldn't be back until that Sunday. We decided they lost customers for life instead of the hassle. My group of 4 came here on Monday night and the restaurant was empty. It was clean and the music was not loud so we were able to talk and enjoy the meal. The food was very good. Everyone was happy with their food choices. The beans served with the chips and salsa is ALWAYS a nice touch when you come to a Mexican restaurant. Our server did not speak a lot of English but we were able to make do. The drinks took a longer than average time but were all tastefully concocted. When I checked in on Yelp as I always do, I got a check in offer of 10% our entire bill. When I presented it to the waitress she wanted me to show that to the manager. After showing it to the manager she stated she did not know about this and contacted the owner. The owner also stated he was unaware of the discount and did NOT honor the check in offer. The reason for the 3 stars is directly because of this. They had not charged me yet and did not intend on giving us the discount. Our bill was over $300 and although I did not need the discount, it was bothersome that they wouldn't take off a measly 10% from our bill. In my opinion this was false advertisement. The staff tried their best and were helpful but the owner should have honored this offer. For the price of all the plates and their lack of acknowledgment of the offer, I will look to other restaurants for my mariscos fix. read more

We've been eating here for the past 3 years but it had been quite some time since the last time we visited. Service was terrible and it wasn't even busy. There were maybe 5 other occupied tables, including us, between 2 servers. We ordered the empanadas as appetizers but came out along with the rest of our food. My mom and I shared the mixed fajitas which was a hefty serving - but wasn't given tortillas to eat with it. Waited about 10 mins and the server never came back so we had to get up and ask her for tortillas, in which she only gave us 2. LOL. Do tortillas not come with the fajitas and why only 2 when you see TWO people sharing the meal. My husband ordered the Asada plate but got Asada fries. Never got refills on our waters- had to get up again and look for our sever just for some water. Took forever to get anything from her honestly. Food quality has decreased but prices have increased.
