Ceviche plate
Angie O.

The food was just okay. I ordered a tostada El Chaka which includes shrimp, octopus, and scallops. My tostada was missing scallops. When I told our waitress she brought back one scallop cut into 8 pieces and told me that the cook said she did put it in my tostada, but she didn't. My son ordered the ceviche plate. He rated it a 7 out of 10, 10 being the best. It comes with 3 tostadas and avocado. Service wasn't the greatest. They were busy and still the service was slow. The was good, they played Spanish music and had multiple TV's on, volume was slow enough to have a conversation at the table.

Noted a few people come in for the drinks and thinking they'll find something other than mariscos (seafood) to eat. If that's your hope, you're mistaken. This spot is great for those who love seafood. Pros: The vibe. Either music is played by a band or through recordings. Would be an ideal spot to hang with a group. The mariscos is delicious! I'm a fan of the mejillones in particular, but agua Chiles is good too. There is a bit of spice on most meals. Variety of alcoholic drinks which are consistently made. My recommendations are a flight of margaritas, candy shots, or miche's Cons: Price. Understandably, seafood in the desert but it has kept increasing that even a meal for two won't be less than $100. I'd recommend coming on Wed/Thursday when there is a deal. Solicitation. The restaurant allows a variety of people to come in and sell you items as you dine. In the span of 15 minutes, we were approached by 4 separate vendors "do you want candy, balloon, bracelet, bags." It's exasperating when you're trying to have a meal and converse with your party, but interrupted by vendors (some who are persistent even after saying no thanks) Cleanliness. Tied to my previous bullet, I saw one of the vendors hock a loogie onto the bar floor. Ruined my appetite. But also noticed on several occasions that the seats and table are left feeling sticky.

Very disappointed in the terrible service me and my wife received tonight on 03/23/25. We arrived to Mariscos el Chaka at around 10:30pm, waiter took 20 minutes to acknowledge us then another 40 Minutes for our food to come out. He also was not very attentive at all during my time here. We asked for a desert a couple of lemons and refills... NONE ARRIVED. MY wife and I are very disappointed because this place is very beautiful and has very good band music. Unfortunately it has horrible customer service this is the second time we come here and the service is bad. I feel that this is the way they treat every customer who is not drinking any alcohol. Definitely will not recommend this place to anyone, Mariscos el Kaliman is smaller but with awesome customer service. Mariscos el Chaka has lost two valuable customers.

The seafood is good and the drinks are good. It was late and we were allowed to navigate the music. Good service as waiter was very nice and fun. Had a great night after bowling. Seafood was great. The steak was a little chewy.

Was craving some mariscos and this seems to be my go to when eating close to home. I have not been disappointed with anything on the menu so far. I went with the Ceviche El Chaka plate this time and it did not disappoint it has a mix of different seafoods and was really good. The pulpitos as an appetizer is a must, they are so addictive. I tried the Flan instead of the fried ice cream this time and it was bomb!! Service is always on point and they have a live banda on the weekends. Really great spot to have in the High Desert

Man,,, I really don't see those low reviews at all, the service has been great all 3 times I've been. I ordered seafood twice and it was delicious. The third time I ordered the molcajete mixto and damn that thing was delicious. Best seafood and Mexican food in the area,, if you're in the mood for a fire appetizer order the chicharron de pescado and dip it in the agua chile green sauce OMG

The food was pretty good, I was brought by someone who goes there a lot. I absolutely adored the atmosphere, even if the live music was a bit loud for my taste. I'm sensitive to noise so that's probably why I thought that. But all in all, the drink was super smooth despite being very strong.

I finally turned around and the female staff met my eyes and told the young men again, I wanted to place an order. I consider that not good customer service being as that their conversation wasn't about work. I have a new review of Shabang after 6 years. I have always purchased 1lb peeled shrimp, Classic seasoning and mild heat seasoning. This has been my go to. Today, I don't know who was playing in the kitchen. The sauce was watery and not red and thick in color. Shrimp was uncoated (see pic) Imagine my sheer disappointment not getting the same quality of food as I have been these past 6 years. I have brought people to eat here, near and far. Now the cook is playing in the kitchen. I hate when establishment know that their stuff is subpar for a takeout order and they're gonna throw it together thinking that you know the people aren't gonna say nothing or they're not gonna open their bag until they get home and they're gonna keep it. Well that's not me. I'm a shout it loud.

The food came out quickly and was plated beautifully with both lemon and lime wedges. I was asked if I would like a mild, medium, or hot salsa. I chose the medium one but it had only just a little hint of a kick. It was a good tasting accompaniment for the seafood. The beer batter was crispy on the fish. There is plenty of shredded cabbage and a good crema on the tacos. Fish was very fresh and clean tasting. The grilled shrimp was seasoned well but were small and a bit dry. I would probably try the beer battered shrimp next time. Potato taco was crunchy and the filling tasted good. Altogether, the food was very delicious and left me feeling light. Service was very welcoming and friendly. Bar and dining areas were inviting and clean. One of my favorite songs, The Smiths' "There is a Light That Never Goes Out" was playing on the stereo so that was very nice while dining. I will certainly return to try the other items on the menu.

We also ordered the chips and salsa. The fish and shrimp tacos came with limes and sides of different house made salsas which were really good. We were ready to cash out and asked for the check, after we got the check we told them we wanted another taco each and another round of beers! The service was great, the place is really clean and they have a bar serving beers on tap. They play different types of music like Banda and oldies. They served my favorite beer, 805!! I'd recommend this place and definitely come back here again!
