The first thing you may notice is that most of the diners here are Mexican. The decor transports you to Mexico and all of the staff are friendly and helpful. This place is the real deal. So far, I've only eaten fish - a complete, delicious meal for $20. Next time, I'll try the amazing looking $25 fajitas. The restaurant is also fun - quite loud inside, with a very nice patio area. For those wanting a drink or three, there are plenty of options. The prices are not on the menu though. My wife and I love this place and will be back quite regularly. DO make a reservation for a decent sized party or from Thursday to Sunday, unless you want to eat outside. read more

Unfortunately the worst dining experiences I've ever had in phoenix... Service: our server was awful. She never refilled our waters so I had to have some of my friends. We finished our beverages and she never asked if we would like another one. I tried to order the ceviche and she said we already get it as a house gift so that we shouldn't order it so that was nice but then we never got it! The table next to us got it with their chips and salsa (different server) then when she dropped off the food she just put it in front of my friend and we didn't know what was what because she didn't say anything at all. She only had two other tables so it's not like it was busy. We never got more water and had to ask her for more silverware twice because she didn't bring any. We did ask for the house ceviche and she said it was on the way Food: no one like their food we all took a couple bites and asked for the check. However the server didn't ask us once if we liked our food. The ceviche tasted like it was canned tuna. If I could give 0 stars I would. Terrible service, the wait is extremely long. The food is stale and not edible. The customer service is by far the worst part of it all, they talk about their customers. Cuss and etc. it's so overpriced as well, and if you don't buy enough food to hurt your pockets even if you already bought meals, you will not be able to order more drinks. Spicy grilled shrimp, bacon and special sauce, uh....yes please! I've had fun dishes like this in New York. So glad to find something unique and compatible here in Phoenix. If you like Tequila and if you're lucky you might find La Ofrenda on the menu. An all black margarita themed as an offering for the day of the dead celebration. Sooo good. Got invited to a large birthday celebration here, we had a group of 16! Frida, our server did an amazing job of keeping up with all of us. Seriously, she needed help. We tipped her extra for sure. Once inside I realized this is a top rated restaurant in Phoenix. I had no idea. It's always best when you don't know what your missing. Anywho, The restaurant is loud, with delicious food and lots of fun to be had at the table. The Michelada (red Beer) is large and in charge. In a very pleasant way, It screams to my taste buds. This place is not great. My family and I really wanted to like this place, but not. I had the shrimp Fantasia, in the menu this dish didn't show a price, I asked the our waitress and she didn't tell me or didn't knew. So I ended up paying 18$ for 6 shrimp that where not good, at all. My son order shrimp tacos, the just had lettuce, and shrimp, that's all. No avocados no pico, no crema, nothing much and also tasteless. My husband order a stuffed Chile or Chile relleno, I thought it would have some sort of protein but no, just cheese. The way I see it they charge way to much for rice and beans because that's what's mostly in the plate, the food is bland, insipid and way too expensive for what you get. Service is not good, our plates where all piled up until we had to ask the server to take them away. The place feels small and so little so basically no space between tables. And because they have the blenders going on (perhaps for making drinks at the bar)it's really noisy. For what we spend on a disappointing dinner we could've had amazing sea food or the best sushi in town at an actual nice restaurant, with ambiance. The Ceviche was also somewhat tasteless. It's seems like their trying to profit the most and the food and service is really suffering. My thoughts. We really wanted to like this place. read more

I always enjoy coming to MPH. The food is amazing, drinks are always spot on, and the service is always wonderful. My partner and I stopped in last Wednesday (forgot to review that day) and we had wonderful service! Our server was extremely attentive and even gave us a free appetizer just because! About halfway through our meal a live mariachi band arrived and started playing music inside the restaurant while we were eating. It was amazing! Growing up in New Mexico, this definitely reminded me of home. The food portions are huge, so be sure to come with an empty stomach and a big appetite! read more

Service was extremely slow, and the timing was awful, my husband got his meal served. He waited a good 10 minutes, before I begged him to eat. I was ready to tell the server to forget my entree, when it finally arrived 15 minutes later. ( hubby was finished with his meal.) I came to this restaurant on a busy night, parking can be hectic as it's located on a small lot. The waiter brought out fresh warm chips with lime, green salsa, and red salsa. After sitting for a while, I signaled the host that no waiter had yet approached us -- granted it was a busy Saturday night but too long waiting for acknowledgement. Our drinks were slow in arriving but were very good. The homemade Guacamole and complimentary Cerviche appetizer were outstanding. When we placed our dinner order for one of the house specialties Red Snapper on the menu advertised as grilled, our waitress informed they do not grill and never have! What? They only fry.! Stunned... we ordered it anyway.. When it arrived, It was a beautiful presentation but fish was over fried and so dry. A very bad experience. :-( MPH, please revise your menu...advertising grilled fish is false advertising. Best mariscos in the valley. Hands down. Nestled in a small parking lot of central Phoenix, we took the time to visit during rush hour on a Thursday. It's a beautiful bright colored building, with colorful tiles and detailed paintings inside and out. They have a beautiful patio. We decided to sit outside, since they had misters, umbrellas, trees, and plants everywhere! Beautiful inside and outside decor and atmosphere. We were greeted at the table with fresh fried homemade chips, and two types of salsa: red and green. My SO liked the green, I went for the red. Our waitress was patient, funny, and hospitable! SO ordered a modelo, and we put in an order for their Ceviche de Camarone. We usually share everything we eat at restaurants, so for our entree, we figured the Molcajete Caliente. We went with the verde Culichi sauce and we did not regret our decision. The Molcajete comes with: 3 pieces of carne asada, 6 pieces of grilled shrimp, 3 pieces grilled chicken, and 3 pieces fried fish. It also came with two plates of rice, beans, salads, and tortillas. Needless to say, we were stuffed by the end of our meal. The ceviche came out first. It was seasoned perfectly, topped with avocado slices, and served with tostadas. We wanted to finish the ceviche so badly but we knew we had to save our appetites. The chicken, shrimp, carne and fish were all cooked to perfection. Tender, incredibly flavorful, and the best part is dunking the meat in the sauce in the bowl. The sauce is a fish based sauce, with octopus and different fish inside. Don't let this scare you if you are a timid eater. Everything was cooked perfectly and the fish was incredibly fresh. Our waitress came to check up on us, and we asked for more chips.... that's how damn delicious they were. Come here just for the chips and salsa if nothing else. We checked in to yelp as well, and received a free slice of chocolate cake to end our meal. Even though we were stuffed we still somehow had room for a giant slice of decadent chocolate cake... that's usually how it goes, right? Anyone who visits Phoenix must eat here! MPH is the best Mexican restaurant I've ever experienced. It's family owned and operated. The attentive service is impressive. Wendy was our waitress and was patient with our large party. She explained the dishes and drinks and met our every need. The mouth watering entrees are made from scratch. My favorite was the molcajete. In addition, the carefully crafted cocktails are not to be missed. Many of the beverages have a sweet and spicy mix rimming the glass instead of just salt. This restaurant is well managed. Tom was working the night we were there and he came out to see how things were and made sure we had everything we needed. Really yummy food! Huge portions and very impressive presentation. We say outside with the mist going on a hot day. The staff was attentive and kind when I asked for recommendations. We really liked the food. It's definitely worth the trip if you are coming from far away. The only reason I gave them 4/5 is because they have a website that takes reservations.
