After a 25…read moremins wait to get inside to order at the counter I got a variety of tacos which included carne, chorizo, tripe, and a adobada. I will say not only was I impressed, I would dare to say this may have been the best tasting food I ever had. The seasoning and taste was literally heaven! So many flavors in your mouth that I wish I ordered more. There's no other way to describe it besides you haven't lived till you tried these tacos. This is my first restaurant that'd I've ever given a 10/10 in the food iteself. A must try no matter the wait. Food(50%): 10.0 Staff/service(25%): 8.0 Value(25%): 8.0 Overall: 9.0/10

Living in San Diego and having so many taco options, TEG just didn't live up to the hype for me…read more The tacos were fine but nothing special and overpriced in my opinion. This location is in the heart of Gaslamp right next to a lot of the clubs and bars. It's busiest in the late nights. The line is long but moves fast. There were about 25 people in front of me but I was able to order within 15 minutes. The security guard asks what type of meat you want and directs to you to that specific line. They have several tables outside and a dining area upstairs (but note it doesn't have AC and gets hot). The tacos were $4 and the mulas $7. They were both tiny, like gone in 3 bites lol. The meat had a burnt taste to it. After spending $28 we were left still hungry. It felt more like an appetizer rather than a meal. If you want to be full, you'll likely need to spend at least $20 per person. Not sure if I'd return...

I knew my kids bought way more than they were going to be able to eat so I did not order any more. I got to taste my daughter's carne asada quesadilla and my son's buche taco. I was a little disappointed that I asked my taco guy to make sure there was pineapple in my Adobada taco but no pineapple. Still, very delicious. Loved that they had radishes and limes but my local taco places also have cucumbers, which El Gordo did not. Everyone was very happy except for my wife who said her carne asada was very "nervy". But for full disclosure, I rarely like ordering her carne asada for that reason. I would only order her a carne asada taco at a place that sells premium beef [like my local taco place in Anaheim]. One very interesting thing about this place is that you get in line for the tacos you want. I stood in line for tacos and mulitas made from Adobada or al Pastor [same thing, at least here per the man making the tacos]. My daughter got in line for the carne asada tacos and quesadillas and my other son got in line for the buche and cabeza tacos. We just kind of gave our order to the person that was standing in the right line. Then we went over and paid all together. I happened to be in line when my taco guy stopped to assemble a phone order for 27 tacos. BTW, who orders 27 tacos. Two dozen, sure. Thirty, makes sense. But 27????? So I waited a bit but the person behind me knew that there are two Adobada lines and left for the other line. If it's just you and a date/friend/wife; I am figuring that you are not going to get in more than one line [per person]. It was packed and even though it went pretty fast, it would be super inconvenient. Plus, I was the last one to get my tacos because of the large mobile order that was made before me. Overall this place is pretty good but you guys saying that this is the best taco place, PERIOD. You need to come up to Anaheim.

They have drawings all over their walls which was fun to look at. They have a few specials which are a good deal if you're going to get a drink anyway. There were a couple of groups dining in and someone picking up a to-go order, but there was still plenty of seating available. The employee working the counter was friendly. They also serve alcohol, and during my visit drinks were 20% off. Options included Pacifico, Modelo, Blue Moon, hard seltzers, and a selection of canned craft beers. I ordered: * Mahi Mahi Taco: the fish tasted fresh, and I liked the crispy onions on top. There was quite a bit of sauce, which made it pretty messy to eat. While the fish was good, it felt like a very heavy taco overall. * Surf & Turf Taco: this was loaded with steak and topped with two flavorful shrimp. The shrimp had an amazing flavor, and this taco was much more enjoyable and balanced. Overall, the service was great, the prices were very reasonable, and the protein quality was excellent. My only critique is that the tacos felt a little overdone with toppings and sauces when the quality of the protein could easily stand on its own. Still, it's a solid spot for an affordable late-night bite. One thing to note: there are no restrooms available inside the restaurant.

Chula Tacos in Nestor is definitely worth a visit if you're looking for authentic, flavorful tacos…read morewith generous portions. Every item we ordered was packed with delicious flavors and made fresh. One thing that stood out was their attention to detail with to-go orders--they provided plenty of condiments, including a variety of salsas, cucumbers, radishes, and peppers, which really elevated the meal. The highlight of the menu is the Keka Taco. It is incredibly delicious, loaded with flavor, and so filling that it can easily satisfy even the biggest appetite. The only downside to this establishment is the limited parking, which can make picking up your order a bit challenging during busy times. However, the amazing food and generous portions more than make up for the parking inconvenience. If you're in the area, the Keka Taco is a must-try!
