Zach was a good server. Made good suggestions. The place was empty and smells a little moldy but it's my trainers favorite margarita so we went. The salsa was fresh they also give you a jalapeño onion mix which added to the food was a good spice. The tortilla soup had good flavor. I went with the carnitas tacos. The pork was flavorful and the rice and beans were good. Honestly I was not expecting to enjoy my food based on how empty it was but I was pleasantly surprised. Seems like my trainer enjoyed her black bean soup and chicken bowl. The draft Modelo was $6 but the top shelf margarita was $19. I wish I were rating Marita's in the late '90's early 2000s. I would have gladly given a 5-star review. Sadly, in 2025, I think one star is generous. I do believe it's the same owner, but I don't know what happened. This place is NOT what it once was. I miss old Marita's. I have been told that the drink specials and cocktails at Marita's are excellent and, after five or six of said drinks, the food is palatable. I unfortunately don't drink, and it wasn't. The steak fajitas I ordered arrived luke-warm. The "steak" used is clearly of a lower grade as it was chewy and it would not surprise me at all to find it was purchased pre-cut and/or pre-seasoned. The salsa and guacamole tastes like it was spooned right out of a tub. The cheese was very thickly grated which, as anyone knows doesn't melt consistently when applied to hot food (not applicable here). The rice was somehow both undercooked and overcooked. It tasted like they made rice for the first time, with no instructions, in a microwave. A "wet-crunch?" The two flour tortillas were cold and probably straight from the package. 2/10 as the tomatoes and lettuce were clean and fresh. So, good job there I guess...? My daughter ordered a burrito with beef and what she received was a soggy diaper filled with under-seasoned meat and covered with a film of cheese and a sweet sort of red sauce which was probably supposed to be enchilada sauce. I mean, it was massive so if you are starving and don't care, this may be right up your alley. Maybe... I brought the issues to the attention of the waitress and she seemed accustomed to hearing these complaints as she shrugged and simply asked if I wanted the manager. She never quite stopped at the table while I was talking, kinda just did a slow pass by on her way to the "noisier" tables. About ten minutes later she put our check on the table as she did another pass by without a word. We weren't asked about refills even once. The staff seemed more inclined to serve and flirt with the suspiciously young looking guests who were definitely enjoying the food (see need for drink specials above). Come to think of it, I do remember issues with serving underage patrons here in the past. History repeats? Maybe. Regardless, no manager ever came and I realized if the staff doesn't care enough to hear complaints, the manager won't either. I paid the bill, tipped 15% (my minimum), and we left hungry and disappointed. I read some of the reviews and it seems the manager/owner likes to respond with apathy and tongue in cheek jabs. The restaurant labels itself as a "Southwestern Bar and Grille" but I'm not so sure that doesn't mean the "Southwest side of Restaurant Depot." If you like unimaginative bland food straight off the shelves of a grocery store, save some money and pick up a Hungry Man from the Weis down the road. Frankly, this place used to be great but if the owner/manager/chef or whoever has lost their spark, the best this place can do is close its doors to make way for something new. TL/DR AVOID!!!!! We went for lunch on a Tuesday and it was fairly dead in the restaurant. No problem there. Service was fast, polite, and appropriately timed. I ordered a Rum Runner and it arrived quickly. While it had plenty of alcohol, the proportions were off, so it was not great. In their previous location they had a taco Tuesday deal, but that is no longer available. Again, not an issue, but worth mentioning. We ordered 2 taco meals: carnitas, and bang bang shrimp. Both came with 3 tacos, Spanish rice, and black beans. The rice and beans were adequate, but also, not great. All the tacos came on flour tortillas with no corn tortilla option available. The bang bang tacos were good. About 4 shrimp on each, lightly battered with a purple cabbage slaw and boom boom sauce ( yes the one you can buy in the store). The carnita tacos were watery and not flavorful. The pickled onions on it were quick pickled at best, and the cilantro mayo was underwhelming. Overall our trip to Marita's was middling to disappointing at best. Comparitively, local food truck street tacos in NY that cost about $3 each are far more flavorful and a better value. Honestly, for the price, we'd have been better off going to one of the local fast food bowl/taco spots. At least the disappointment there costs half the price. read more

Decided to stop by and pick up some lunch from this place after often driving past it and now I understand why it is always empty. I recommend you spend your money elsewhere, anywhere else!! Placed an order of the steak and shrimp fajitas and the chicken fajitas and they were practically inedible, felt bad even feeding it to my dogs. The steak and shrimp were rubbery and tasted old and stale. The chicken was burnt and dry as well. Both accompanied by 2 hard and burnt flour tortillas and a generic tasting blend of shredded cheddar and mozzarella. At about $22 for each dish the quality was really laughable. My girlfriend and I stopped at Marita's for lunch during our anniversary weekend, and it was unfortunately one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. We started with chips and salsa -- the "salsa" tasted more like marinara sauce mixed with onion and cilantro, and the other option was simply chopped jalapeños and onion. Ironically, that ended up being the best thing we were served. I ordered the BBQ pulled pork tacos with pineapple salsa, and my girlfriend ordered the carnitas (steak) tacos. When we swapped to try each other's meals, she immediately noted that my tacos tasted like store-bought pulled pork with bottled BBQ sauce and little to no pineapple flavor. I tried her steak tacos and, unfortunately, trusted that the meat was cooked properly -- it wasn't. I became extremely sick for the rest of the day and continued to feel pain and discomfort into the next. My girlfriend later checked her tacos more closely and found that the steak was undercooked and inedible. It's unacceptable for a restaurant kitchen to serve food that is not properly cooked or checked for quality before reaching a customer. Even her margarita tasted like a pre-mixed sour mix -- nothing fresh or balanced. We were walking down Main Street when we were attracted to this restaraunt with the way it looked so we went in! I didn't see reviews and rating until after but quite honestly I think they have it wrong. It's a great restaraunt. You get chips and salsa when you sit down. There is a red and a green salsa. The green salsa is the hotter one, but I believe it was just diced up pickled jalapeños. We started with the empanadas. Which came out pretty quickly, it also came accompanied with a red sauce that looked like a sort of red enchilada sauce. The empanadas were great, the ground beef had great flavor! My wife ordered the Buffalo chicken quesadilla and I ordered the Queso Burrito with steak, which also comes with a house salad. The salad came out shortly and I chose the option of raspberry vinaigrette as a dressing. The salad was lettuce, shredded cheese, scallions and black olives. The meals came out shortly after. My wife's quesadilla was a great portion and had an amazing flavor. Nothing too over the top like a lot of places do it and we liked it how they did it here today! She couldn't finish all of it as it was a lot so we had to take it home! My burrito looked awesome! And tasted Eve better! It came on a bed of Spanish rice and smothered in cheese dip! The burrito itself was very filling but also having the empanadas I was stuffed as well! So I had to 1/3 of it to go! My girlfriend, roommate, and I were driving down the street with hungry stomachs and open minds on a restaurant. We passed Marita's, and it was PACKED! So, we assumed it was delicious and tried to find parking. After about 10 minutes of circling the area, we found a spot and got on the waitlist to sit outside. Dogs are allowed, and there was a great golden retreiver outside that we got to pet while we waited. Finally, we were called and seated. A few minutes later, we were brought chips and salsa. One red salsa that was very bland, and one green salsa that was basically chopped jalapenos in hot sauce. Neither were very good. We ordered some queso instead to eat the chips with. It was worse than canned cheese dips. We ended up mixing up the jalapeno chutney into the queso to make them both edible. We all ordered top shelf margaritas. You know, because once your buzzed it tastes better. Plus, MARGS! So onto the entrees.... My girlfriend ordered a taco salad. It was finely shredded iceberg lettuce, like the kind you would get pre-cut from walmart for toppings. She did not like it. After about 1/3 the way through she dumped the rest of the queso and salsa dip onto it. My roommate ordered the fajitas, and it kind of blew my mind that one of the most iconic dishes in a mexican restaurant, was so underdone here. At restaurants you see, smell, and hear fajitas. They are on a sizzler and tons of smoke fills the air. Here, it was served like everything else, on a regular plate, some of his meat was even kind of cold he said. Lastly, I had a chicken chimichanga. It was extremely doughy, not well cooked. Just very bad..... We had ordered another round of margs while eating. They showed up about 5-10 minutes after everyone finished. The waitress was blatanly new. She didn't know the menu very well, did not know the flavors of margaritas or liquors offered. And once she finally brought our last round, we were already ready to leave... so we chugged them in anticipation for the check... and it took another 10 minutes to get that. Not in any major hurry to come back to Marita's, they have a lot of improvement and training to do. Overall generally enjoyed this restaurant. Didn't intend to come here but I am sure glad we did. The service was excellent, the outdoor seating was nice and clean, there was no wait. Whatsoever to sit outside. We shared the kitchen sink nachos which were absolutely delicious. And their queso dip was perfect. It was definitely fully loaded not skimping on any of the goodness. We also shared the Bang Bang Shrimp that had the boom boom sauce. The shrimp itself was fine but the sauce was lacking. My daughter had a basic cheese quesadilla which was oozing with cheese. And my mother had buffalo chicken quesadilla that was so ginormous we had to cut it or use a fork. They're servings are very generous and for everything it only came out to about $60. 2 stars because our waitress was very friendly and attentive. But the food is awful. I mean I know PA isn't known for their food but this was just so low effort like they didn't even try. Everything just tasted like frozen microwave food. Even the complimentary chips and salsa were greasy and bland. The food was pretty much equivalent to Taco Bell in everything but price of course but I'd argue Taco Bell has way more flavor. It's a shame because the outside area is actually so spacious and the inside seating area is nice too. If they had better food I'd come back here for drinks too. read more

Great experience - confused by all the low reviews. Our AirBnB host recommended Marita's and we almost didn't go after seeing so many low reviews on Yelp; I'm so glad we went! We sat outside - great ambiance, nice storefronts across the street. Our server was solid - attentive, knowledgeable, friendly. The facility was cleaner and we appreciated the custom/colorful paint job; what we expect/like about a local, unique Mexican restaurant. The food was great! Chips/salsa was just standard - as described in other reviews there's a red and green salsa, both were fine - but main courses/dessert were exceptional. My son got the chicken quesadilla and loved it - chicken well seasoned, loaded with cheese. I got the steak burrito bowl - it came out medium rare as ordered and the marinade/seasoning (citrus base) on the steak was excellent. We finished off with fried ice cream - classic vanilla ice cream rolled in cinnamon and corn flakes the fried; delicious. Being gluten free is hit/miss, especially at mid-price places. In rural areas, so I really appreciated Marita's and highly recommend it! read more

The chips were nice and hot, but were the only edible thing we had,, and the queso was just alright. The chicken quesadilla was shredded, soggy boiled chicken with no flavor. My friend had the fish tacos which were disgusting. They were served in a pool of water, with a small slick of oil on the side. She could not eat them amd just had the rice and side salad instead. I will never come here again, which is disappointing to say, because the staff was delightful - thus the one star. My question to this restaurant is "has the chef or owner ever BEEN to the southwest or Mexico?!?!" I just had the blandest, most disappointing meal at this place. For such a prime location, they are horrible and I'd def steer people to La Tolteca.. the salsas.. tomatoes out of cam witb no seasoning and raw onions. The green jalapeño salsa? It's called tomatillo salsa and salsas are at least slightly puréed. That was chopped jalapeños in a ramekin. And packaged chips (I don't care how warm they are, they're still bagged chips!) Ordered a combo plate with a beef hard taco and a chicken enchilada. First off, I think the chef used to own an Italian pizza restaurant because the red sauce on the plate was pizza joint thick marinara. It's called Enchilada Sauce. Look it up... beef had ZERO flavor. Chicken was boiled shredded chicken with no flavor.. the enchilada was covered ina gelatinous white sauce. Nothing. Rice and beans were average at best but prob the best thing in the plate.. also ordered a Veggie Burrito.. which should be renamed a Frozen broccoli burrito because thats basically what it was filled with. Again, all covered in the marinara sauce.. service was good but we actually had o go find her at the end for our check. Ambiance? We sat in front by the windows where there were neon signs and at every table we get to look at an outlet with plugs in. And a talking Grinch I had to listen to every 2 mins.. Did the owner EVER own a successful restaurant before? What a bad experience... I'd NEVER return here. That meal was so bad... wish I could give 1/2 a star instead of 1 star. The food at Chevy's or On The Border is better. It's like a Taco Bell with liquor. Don't waste your money here. I was there at 5.30pm yesterday with a friend of mine. We both had one margarita. My friend had a chicken wrap sandwich with no chips fries or anything else. The chips and salsa that they brought to the table were downright nauseating. There is nothing Mexican about their cuisine. Tastes like there ain't a Mexican in town. Our bill was $30.00. They did an OK job on re-opening this restaurant. The inside does not look very Mexican in decor and I question their use of color. Inside there were 5 tables including ours. The service was extremely slow. They also have a very nasty Older Woman answering their phone during the day. Not sure who she was but she said she's been working there a "long time". This was the absolute worst "Southwestern " food I've ever had. Having lived in Texas for 50 + years , I've eaten thousands of Tex-Mex, Southwestern, and all varieties of Mexican food meals, and a few hundred meals in Mexico. This restaurant was recommended by a local as being good food. Our first sign that this might have been a uniformed recommendation started with the waitress not knowing what a Poblano pepper is, the green salsa was nothing but chopped up pickled jalapeños, and when we asked if they had fresh peppers, she assured us they did and promptly brought us a new bowl with larger slices of the pickled jalapeño. The Chile Relleno was advertised as " thinly battered", instead it was almost a quarter inch of tasteless corn batter. Our second time visiting this place. We were seated promptly and waited on by a pleasant server. My margarita was very good, not to sour and not to strong. I had the Ahi tuna wrap which was prepared as I asked with rare tuna. The wife had shrimp and chicken fajitas which she enjoyed. I noticed people reviewing the complementary chips and salsa (which is not the traditional salsa you typically get at Mexican restaurants) poorly but they are free so if you don't care for them don't eat them but we actually found it tasty to mix the red and green sauces together.
