I brought my Silverado into Maritime due to it not being able to start correctly. I brought it here 3/21, and was told that the diagnostic results will be given to me by the weekend- leading to a call about the supposed issue being the cylinder and key. I received another call about their ALSO being electrical issues, and the technicians were going to check and see what was failing; therefore telling me I had to wait until next week to get my car back. After they figured out the trucks issues they gave me my price and I gave them the go ahead- they told me I should have my vehicle by Saturday, then by Monday, and then eventually today 4/1 I finally got it, but I can't say I'm satisfied with the results. The key fires right up- they also gave me two new ones, and the replaced cylinder works just fine. Since I was getting my trucks issues repaired, I decided to fix my broken cylinder on the drivers-side door. To my surprise I get a call saying that they replaced the broken cylinder, but it doesn't work because the rod and actual lock inside of the truck is broken too- ???? You mean to tell me that they opened up my door panel... and didn't realize that the rest was damaged? They still had the audacity to tell me they could charge me more to order parts and whatnot, and fix the issue but one of the parts was discontinued so it would be a little harder to find. Yeah, no thanks. This was a hard lesson to learn, but at least my car starts up normally. Lucas was great, but it started getting old quick. Hopefully I won't need to bring my truck to the dealer again, but if I do- it probably won't be here. read more

The worst. I brought my 2019 Chevrolet Bolt in for what should have been a simple brake job and it cost me over a thousand dollars and took two days to complete. I had previously brought tis car in for similar brake service less than two years ago and they didn't warrantee any of their work from that visit even though they had to replace the brake caliper that they had serviced before. I asked them if this new caliper would be warranted and the said "Two years". So why wasn't the original caliper covered? They just gave me the runaround and syphoned all the money they could. And here I am two days later. I just drove the car to New Haven and back, about 40 miles on the highway, and the vibration in the steering wheel has returned. When I got home I checked the temperature on the front wheels and now the RIGHT SIDE front wheel is too hot to touch! Previously, the problem had been on the left front wheel. Obviously, these idiots didn't bother test drive the car after doing their work and they didn't bother to check the right side when they were making repairs. Rather than throw good money after bad I will take the car to Brake Centers of America in future. I have attached photos of the temperature taken by remote sensor at both front wheels. read more

I needed a few parts for my Silverado. The parts department did not have the parts, listed as discontinued and refused to provide the part numbers I needed. I tried in vain to locate them. I was given a phone number which supposedly had the principal part available and that number was out of service. I was directed to a web site and could not find the part without a PART NUMBER! Finally I called Martime Motors and had to threatened to write a 1 star review. I told them that would be the result if they could not provide the part or the part number. Why I am still giving them a one start review? Because there was a second part number I needed. According to the previous call that part, a small wiring harness, was listed as discontinued. I was told they did not have that part number. THIS WAS A LIE. I was able to located the second part number, through the first, and find that part somewhat readily available. If this dealer can't provide parts, lists them as discontinued, and then refuses to provide part numbers to help customers find these parts themselves, then do they actually expect people to buy new cars, service cars there, or buy parts there? I have been a customer with Maritime since 2001, purchased my K3500 Silverado LT, from them, and have used them for many services for 23 years. I have been a Chevy owner for my entire life. My first car was a new Chevy couple, I've since owned two Corvettes, two Blazers, and currently a Silverado. Six vehicles, over my lifetime. That is brand loyalty. I will likely be buying a loaded Suburban, or Corvette in 2025. I can assure you it will be from another dealer not this one. Loyalty goes both ways. One Chevy parts manageger in Sacramento gave me last years part book as a favor since I bought so many parts for them. I could call in and make their lives easier. It saved everyone time. I was assured of getting a quality part. Things have changed. I am stunned this dealership would rudely poke me in the eye about simple thing like a part number, for a part they no longer provide. I would be happy to pay a premium for a GM part, but if they can't provide it--help me find it. Do not stand in my way. Nothing irritates me more than people standing in the way or progress. The general manager needs to know about things like this. I tried to contact him and no one will pass be through. So here I am. He can read about it here and it is my sincere desire that everyone reading this will choose another dealership for their next new car. They do not deserve your business. I hope the General Manager is fired and replaced with someone with common sense. Several years ago, one of the parts guys at Maritime Motors gave me bad advice, to cut four nubs off my front hubcaps, causing them to rattle. His advice causing me to damage two brand new parts I purchased. I could have forced them to take them back, trash them and give me new ones. I did not want to make him look bad to his parts manager. I was able to make spacers to fix them but I finally tossed them out. I was kind enough to let this pass because I'd been treated generally pretty well by the parts department in the past. I've always, until recently, had a good relationship with my local Chevy service department, and in particular the parts department as I often service my own vehicles. I now regret not making a big deal about that other issue. I can only conclude that the owners of this dealership are deliberately putting the squeeze on people, to lock people into buying parts here locally, and issued an edict to enforce that, and never thought to consider parts might not be available, and part numbers need to come from Chevrolet if research was needed. The only source of information is blocked. It is abusive behavior. This is how customer loyalty is turned enmity. read more

So, Maritime responded that the car was fixed on Saturday, but I was not contacted until Monday morning that the car was ready. This speaks volumes in and of itself regarding their service department. Now, the Energy information icon no longer exists on the user interface and, therefore, Energy related functions for the car's software are no longer available to a user. No way I am spending the time and energy to take it back and lose the car again (for how many days???). read more

Purchased my first vehicle (Chevy) in 2016 from this dealership which began a great relationship until now. I've had nothing but chevy vehicles since then from a Malibu all the way to a Suburban, even if I didn't purchase it there, I still got them all serviced from recalls, to oil changes and to entire engine replacements. Chevrolet states they honor veterans and first responders but that is the total opposite at this dealership. I would not recommend this place to my family, friends, and co-workers ever again. During the summer of 2022 I brought in my suburban for a complete brake job front and rear. I paid utilizing GM/Chevrolet coupons and my points. Out of pocket I paid a low price which I thought was great. Come December I began to have brake problems so I bring it back to Maritime and they stated I needed a brake booster vacuum. Cost just under $900 in total. Note, I barely drive my suburban, it's more of a weekend traveling vehicle at most. So a few weeks and drives go by and I realize there is no change in the brakes. I figured maybe the part needed to be broken in. A month goes by and I bring it back to Maritime with the same exact complaint as I did prior. They then state that I needed front and rear brake pads and rotors as well as a brake fluid flush. I advise them that both were done in last summer and that can not be the case. Furthermore, if they were low, I should have been advised of this last month. After "checking the system" they could not see the exact work done to my suburban in the summer only the price and argued that I only got the front pads done for the price I paid. They then replaced the front brake pads (without my permission) to elevate the issue. After going back and forth with the Manager Ralph over the fact I paid almost $900 and the problem was not fixed. He insisted that I needed pads when I knew this was impossible since the brakes were just done not even 5 months prior. I told him I would go else where and he stated "you can do that". That set the tone for the rest of my experience. I then took my suburban to another Chevrolet Dealership where they stated my aster cylinder was losing pressure upon braking. This was another almost $900 job. So I go ahead and have them fix it. After this repair, everything is perfect. I then return to Maritime and request a refund to Marissa. She looks at me as if I have 5 eyes and became very rude stating they don't do refunds. I advised her that they completed work on my vehicle and did not fix the issue that I paid for. I then provided all of the paperwork from Maritime and the other dealership to prove they misdiagnosed my vehicle and charged me for it. Ralph then states he would call me the next day, which he never did so two days later I show up. Ralph then stated he sent the paperwork to "management" and he will call me next week. A week goes by, no call so again I show up in person and Ralph advises me that the check was sent via US Mail and I should receive it in a few days. After 3 weeks, I then again return to the dealership since I did not receive a check. Ralph then states he will call me after he finds out what happens. Another two days go by, no phone call so I again return in person to the dealership. Note, each time I enter, Marissa just ignores me and Ralph acts like he is busy fixing phones and behind a computer. After he decides to give me some time of his life, Ralph then discovers they sent it to the wrong address. Which I find hard to believe since they have my correct address on file. However, I then state to him I will return the following day to pick the check up in person. When I return to retrieve the check, it is a fraction of what I paid. Ralph stated that they can only refund the labor and not the part. I advised him that they took out a perfectly fine part and charged me for it. Ralph stayed the diagnosis stated it was failing, however of course there's no proof of it failing on top of their diagnosis was false to begin with. In all, this dealership as a hole has gone severely down hill. When you purchase a car they bring you to the service side to see smiles but in all no one knows that they are doing and they are rude to customers when they mess up. But if they hire competent mechanics this issue won't happen. It's a shame Maritza and Ralph are both still employed at this business. I elected to wait for the service and it was performed quicker than the promised completion time. They priced a car for a certain amount online and when we showed up at the dealership they said it shouldn't be so low, but they would honor that price. Great! two days later, we made plans to get a loan and even got insurance because we thought we were getting the car at that price per our verbal agreement. They called right before we were headed over there and said "I'm sorry, we can't honor that price and have to sell it at full price". This isn't what was said two days ago and you waited for us to go through all this process to tell us this?? If you couldn't honor the price, you should have said that when we first asked about it. All I can say is buyer beware. I wish I had read these reviews first before attempting to purchase a car from Maritime Chevrolet. All I can say is simply stay away from them. I was working with Mike Atkins, who seemed nice enough at first, but turned out to be just another typical car salesman. Definitely watch out for the car deal shell game these guys like to play when it comes to working out the numbers for a car. Their math doesn't make any sense. if you do the numbers yourself, you will realize they are taking money right out of your pocket without you even knowing it. In my case @ $1300. I ultimately got tired of the "let's make a deal shell game" that went on every time we went back and forth with the numbers. Sure they will take the dealer markup off the price of the car, but then watch your trade-in's value drop and so on. I ultimately decided to drop the deal. I needed an oil change and decided to wait with vehicle. Approximately an hour passed and vehicle had not been brought into the shop. When I asked the adviser (Marissa) she appeared frustrated and in a rude tone told me to wait because she was busy doing something. She then grabbed my repair order and went to the back of the shop and I could see her through the clear glass windows to the shop yelling while approaching a tech. My vehicle eventually made it into the shop after the tech who was yelled at pulled in the vehicle. The advisor is extremely unprofessional and rude to customers and staff. I cannot believe she is allowed to work there. Very unfortunate experience. I will not be returning. read more

Always nice to see a very clean service area but the guys could sure use AC- it was hot and humid in there. I met with service tech Alex prior to the work being conducted. Alex was most knowledgeable and I felt comforted knowing he was doing the work. Alex's demeanor, personality, and knowledge are what every tech should have- he is a class act who did the work on my truck without issue. Alex did what needed to be done to get me 100%. Nothing spared. Sebastian the service writer was very professional and contacted as promised to set up an appointment once all parts were in. Sebastian took care of what needed to be done to have me very pleased with the experience. I certainly recommend Maritime service to anyone needing their vehicle repaired. read more

Stay away at all costs. I went to return a leased vehicle for a very good client of mine. Upon arriving I met with someone who claimed to be the sales manager named Josh Kestenbaum. He explained to me that because the vehicle was not purchased there and he didn't have space that they would not except the vehicle. There was multiple empty parking spots in the back of the dealership and I explained to him that they were contractually obligated by GM financial to except the vehicle he still refused and I ended up going to another dealership Devan Chevrolet of Norwalk polite and professional and accepted the vehicle with no issues. I might add there was 5 salespeople sitting at their desks doing nothing. I have most of it on video and will share with anyone interested. read more

Long/Short...Maritime Chevrolet at 985 Post Road Fairfield CT 06824 billed us $689 dollars for swapping out a throttle body that had nothing wrong with it.... I initially asked Maritime Chevrolet to do $5000+ in various repairs and up-keep on my Tahoe; to include fixing a "sluggishness" that would occur when I'd accelerate. After I picked up my Tahoe from Maritime Chevrolet (TWO Different times in Sept 2020) the sluggishness performance degradation was still present. Green Chevrolet in Louisiana found nothing wrong with the Throttle body and determined that it was a bad "accelerator sensor" that was causing my Tahoe's sluggishness and slowing down issues. Better trained mechanics at Green Chevrolet? or Just more honest? I don't know if Maritime Chevrolet just thought we 'wouldn't notice or would choose not to worry about this'...but doing false work replacing components in someone's vehicle when there is nothing wrong with the component is not good business it's trashy conduct...and the service manager Ralph choose to engage me in nonsensical denials and avoidance rather than simply acknowledge the findings and successful repair completed by another of their own at Green Chevrolet in Louisiana. Also, Walter, their "Customer Experience Manager" whom they say is a "customer advocate" was never around to be contacted and does not return phone calls left on his answering service". So bottom line, at this point I'm saying if you need to buy or fix a vehicle in Fairfield CT do not go to Maritime Chevrolet because you can get ripped off at this particular dealer. They will do false work as in unnecessary component "swap-outs" just to take extra cash from you. read more

Horrendous service. The manager Ralph is rude and abusive. No way I will ever go back. He called me while I was at work I told him I couldn't talk. He kept calling from both the work and his personal cell phone until I answered. He told me I had to leave work and drop off the loaner I was supposed to have until the repairs were ready. If I didn't he would report it stolen. I told him I would return it the following day by noon. He agreed. The next day when I tried to return it it wouldn't start. He reported it stolen thru onstar and killed the engine. I will never go back Ralph lied he is just a pathetic feable old man that abuses any little control or power he has. It's sad. read more

This is easily the most pleasant experience I have ever had with a dealership service department. The dealership at which I bought my Chevy had closed when I received a recall notice, so I made an appointment with Maritime, the closest dealership to me. I assumed it would take months to get an appointment but I got one within the week. When I dropped off my car, I asked if they had time for an oil change and to repair my remote key fob which had stopped working just a few days before. They said no problem, and offered to drive me to work, which I declined. I asked if the car would be ready by the end of the day or the next morning, but they said it would be ready in a couple of hours. I got a telephone call at work even before that, saying the car was ready. They also recommended I keep my eye on something that may need service in the future. Did I mention how polite and friendly they all were? I will be sure to go back asap to address the other problem with my beloved Malibu! read more

EXCELLENT...took a 2014 Equinox for brake inspection due to grinding noise and pulsating pedal. Rotors were turned, pads replaced, and quickly. By contrast, the Midas shop next door declared the need for four new rotors, 20 new lug nuts at $180 (!), a costly "slide service", all at a total of almost $1700. Maritime saved me over $1000 and did not try to rip me off. Highly recommended based on a very positive experience. read more

Went in one day a while back to look at a used Saab 9-5 I wanted to upgrade my Daewoo (yes I have a Daewoo and I love it). I was ready to go through with it and buy the car but I didn't have time to go over everything with them and intended on coming back the next day. By the time I drove the fifteen minutes it took me to get home, I already had a message on my answering machine from someone there asking if I made my decision yet. While I thought that was fast, to my horror I received a call from a different person there again within the hour. And another again a few hours later. And the next day, when I realized I had too much to do to go back in, our message machine filled up with questions on when and if I was coming back. That right there turned me off to Maritime Motors. I stayed away for years, and noticed their remodel on a recent visit downtown before I moved. (My Daewoo is now enjoying life on a mountain overlooking the Mediterranean. Sadly I am not with it.) This time I went in and only had one person ask me for help, but I knew enough not to leave my number this time. Did not get harassed as I walked around like some places tend to do, so maybe there's new people with much better etiquette working now. Some family members did mention they had a bit of an issue with their service department, but since I wasn't present for the situation I cannot really speak to that. I do know they are one of the only places around that still can work on Saturns under warranty so if you have a Saturn that still happens to have a warranty, that is probably where you'll end up wanting to go for service. Kudos to whatever new staff or management are there making things better, and hopefully things continue to remain on the upswing. read more

I would not recommend buying a truck/car if you are out of state from Maritime. I'm just over the boarder in Massachusetts (1H20min) away. Let me start off by saying the sales process was fine. We handled everything over the phone and agreed upon a fair trade in and new truck purchase price. I wasn't in a rush for a new truck, I needed it for this winter when my wife is expecting our second child. Upgraded my 2016 2500 double cab for a 2022 crew cab 2500. I Happen to stumble upon a truck from maritime that checked all the boxes I wanted, to my surprise it was available after a customer backed out last minute. Might have been the $5,000 over MSRP price tag. Anyways we agreed upon a good deal to me and I purchased it. I drove out on May 28th (Saturday Memorial Day weekend) to pick the truck up because the salesperson, had said if I was comfortable with it he'd like to getting the sale done in the month of May. He was so helpful up to this point, I agreed and drove out. The trade in and picking up of the new truck went fine.After this is where things became a problem. We all agreed to swap my plates, I left my old registration in my trade in, as I knew they needed it for the RMV plate swap. I get a call Thursday or Friday (June 2nd or 3rd) from the sales person asking if I took my old Registration, I reminded him I left it in the traded in truck. He made me aware that he believed they already sent the truck to auction and they don't have the old registration. So then we changed to me getting new plates for my truck. I sent the request RMV 1 form 20 minutes later to the dealership and confirmed the received it. I gave it a few days and reached back out on Wednesday (June 8th) to check in on the registration status.In Massachusetts you have 7 days to register and inspect a new or used purchased vehicle. So I'm already past that point.Given the holiday and the fact I'm out of state it I wanted to be fair and give some more time. Heard back the next day (June 9th) that they were just getting me new plates and Mike would run all the paperwork to RMV the next day June 10th. So 13days from purchase the dealership is now just bringing paperwork to register my truck, after losing my previous registration. I don't hear back after checking in once of twice the week of June 11th, until Monday June 18th. The dealership had a glitch in the system and it filled information on the RMv1 form incorrectly causing the RMV to reject it. Paperwork was resubmitted that day (June 18th) and "it should be all set very soon, just waiting on the RMV". I've become very frustrated at this point, I haven't been able to drive my truck in over 2 weeks because it's not legally registered or inspected. I called to complain to the sales manger Mike, who was very rude and chuckled and said "not going to happen" when I asked to be compensated in some way. This is my work truck, I've had to borrow friends and family trucks just to move my work equipment from job to job. I had to put off starting jobs and estimates due to not having my truck or time after all the running around using other peoples trucks.The sales manger was unapologetic, and blamed it all on covid, normally I'd except that explanation but the fact I have conversations showing the amount of time it took them to get any paperwork to the RMV and how little time that paperwork took to get processed by the RMV is what's aggravating. The fact that the sales manger blamed the RMV and its covid policy is such a overused scapegoat. Not to mention the Finance Manger Matt said these "glitches" happen all the time. Yesterday they also tried to blame my insurance company for taking to long to send a new RMV 1 form for them to fill out correctly on the dealerships end. It only took me 20 minutes to get and email the orginal copy so they could have just refilled out the emailed copy and the time frame would have all been pushed up. I've filed a claim with Chevrolet corporate against the dealership. All of this couldn't been avoided if there was clear communication from them about the mistakes made. read more

*DON'T GET A VEHICLE HERE*STAY AWAY* I got my car back at the end of August 2019. One week in i noticed it was making noises so i took the car back to the dealer, mind you 3 time within the first 2 months. The last time i took the car back to the dealer they seem to all of a sudden find that the noises it was making was the sway bars in the rear needed to be replaced. According to them at this point i had to pay out of pocket to fix them ($250.00) because coincidentally my warranty expired the day before they called me. I then take my car to a Nissan dealership to come and find out there was an oil leak,2 gaskets needed to be replaced, front passenger side needed the sway bars also replace, OH and the control arm ALSO needs to be replaced.......SMH All things I complained about EVERY SINGLE time i took the car back to them. I dont recommend anyone going to Maritime Chevy in Fairfield. the sales people where so nice, all friendly, but when it comes to service ewwww. Im so disgusted with them and myself for not having the car checked before purchasing it. Sad part is i researched places, read reviews and yet still got the crappy end of the stick. Horrible all they car is in getting the sale. They will tell you they did everything to the vehicle to have it up to par, pssss please. Slime balls. This is the second bad service experience I have had with Sebastian, in particular. He is always combative with me, the customer, and I find this to be extremely poor customer service. Not only did I purchase a car from Maritime in 2014 but I ended up having my mom get one later on that same year. We both go there for our oil changes and maintenance but earlier this year, he treated me like a peasant over an AC problem they failed to fix in 2017. He acted as if he had done me a favor by not charging me for a service his men did not fix properly from the get go. He was rude and talked down to me. I filed a complaint in my survey and heard nothing. Today, we went for my mom's oil change and she needed extra work done. After, it was more expensive and he claims he said he told us it included a parts disposal fee. He never said that! We assumed there would be tax but he kept saying he always tells clients this but we both know he forgot this in his "schpeel." He was combative and rude when we questioned him and would not take responsibility whatsoever for maybe dropping the ball. Sebastian knows how to make money because he's a scam artist. He leaves out details and then turns it on the customer. This is the last Chevy I will purchase, I will not be treated with disrespect and I will not allow someone to stand there and consistently be rude and condescending! Most expensive battery of my life! $900!! The battery in my truck was dying after 2-3 days so I brought it to Maritime. I was quoted up to 2 hours of diagnostics time. I was then called and asked to approve an additional 2 hours if diagnostic time with not much explanation as to what was done during the initial 2 hours. I was called the next day and told that I had a bad battery and quoted for a new one. I was also told an aftermarket chime I had installed was suspected of drawing extra current and suggested they disconnect it. I went to pickup my truck and after I paid I realized the tech had disconnected power to my radio..I was forced to return the truck next day using my vacation time do they could reconect the chime which powered the radio. Based on my reading, my truck was within an acceptable range of battery draw and did not justify the STEALERSHIP to run up a huge diagnostic fee chasing fuses...they should have tested the battery in the first hour of diagnosis..checking the simplest and cheapest component first just as their work order dictates....instead their records show it was done on day 2 after I authorized the 2nd two hours of diagnostics...I could have gotten a free battery check at a parts store, or paid 9.99 at a franchise oil change shop. I brought these concerns to the attention of my service advisor "J" as well as the Service manager Ralph....neither of them bothered to make any effort to apologize or acknowledge that they approached the repair haphazardly on an unjustified fishing expedition paid by yours truly and acknowledge the visit/repair was mismanaged internally. This visit should not have entailed more than one hour of diagnostic and a new battery. I reached out to GM/Chevy Customer service and even followed up with the dealership staff to give them an opportunity to " make it right" before I left this review but they have my money and that's all that matters to them and the owners. Great service/repair shop. Ralph is the best! Sales & finance leaves something to be desired.
