This review is long over due. Mark the mover completed my move in August and I can't say enough good things about these guys. The phone estimator knew his business and gave all the necessary details and disclosures. One of my worries was that my move would take 2 days (as another company had suggested) but the guy at marks assured me it could be done in a day easily. He suggested 2 trucks and 5 movers and that worked perfectly. I have moved numerous times - mostly long distance moves with one of the big 4 companies. There were always damages, delays, lost boxes, etc. so I had learned to expect moves to be difficult and stressful. This move was the exact opposite Our crew was marvelous. It was a cohesive team that you could tell had worked together for a while. If given the opportunity, request Charlie's team. Charlie is a no nonsense overseer that has been in the business for 30+ years and it shows. I had never used a move that was by the hour - only not to exceed estimates - so I was nervous about an over run in time. Don't worry about that with this crew. They finished 2 hours ahead of the estimate and with NO damage. I still can't believe it. When the company that was scheduled to move our big screen and computer array flaked, Charlie said, "don't worry. We will take care if it." And they did. Flawlessly. Bottom line: lowest stress move ever, honest sales people that don't use fear tactics and a marvelous crew. Definitely a 5+ star rating for this company - and to Charlie - you are the best! I was browsing Yelp today and saw a review for Mark the Mover and thought I would chime in. I used them in 2000 (yikes! have i lived here that long) to move from my apartment to my first home. It was a whopping 3 miles away but this is still the best $$ I spent related to my home purchase. I think the whole move, plus tips was $400. The whole move took 3.5 hours start to finish. They showed up when expected, were fast, were clean, were polite. What more could you ask for. I still remember the guys who moved me - 1 crew leader who was a tall, really really skinny hippie looking guy and two larger strong looking men. The really skinny guy - who I figured would just "supervise" - walks into my laundry room and 30 seconds later comes out with my washing machine on his back! Well, OK then. Glad to see that 9 years later they are still being rated highly and, if this market ever improves and we can move as we hope, I will call on them again. read more

I've planned a wedding, I've had a career change, I've gone through childbirth. These are all very stressful, life-changing events. Would you believe that moving was more stressful than any of those three? I've lived in the same place for 7 years. Uprooting my family and moving (and, worst of all, packing and unpacking) to a new neighborhood brings on all sorts of anxieties. The movers were nice guys. They had a great attitude the whole time. Both the house I moved out of and the new home have all sorts of narrow turns, steep stairs and other obstacles. The guys never once showed that they were tired or over it....even if they were. They kept a smile on their face and had a great attitude the whole time. Also, I was never once concerned that they were going to run off with any of my belongings. There were some issues after the move with damage to the walls, furniture and flooring. Anyone who has ever had a home service provider do damage to anything in your home knows what a difficult and arduous process it can be to actually make the provider fix and pay for the damages. I once had a large, hardware company that is headquartered in Atlanta (who shall remain nameless...although it doesn't take a genius to figure out the company....) install new windows in my home. Their contractor burned a hole through my carpet because he was talking on his cell phone while doing repairs (which is a story in itself...). It took nearly a year to get them to pay for and fix the damage. This was after hundreds of phone calls and an eventual talk with the district manager at the company. I was dreading going through the process again. Mark the Mover was absolutely amazing about it. Paul, the COO, never once made me jump through hoops, he never made me make countless unanswered phone calls to their insurer and he never once made me prove through expert witnesses that the damage was indeed done by their guys at the time of the move (yes, I went through all of this with said hardware company). Paul called me a few days after the move to address the matter. Within 24 hours, the repair people called and set up appointments to come out to fix the damage to my satisfaction. It was that easy. That right there is why I highly recommend this company. Any company in the world could move some furniture. But I guarantee that they would have been a pain in the arse to deal with had I had any damage. The only thing that sucked was that there a few items that were damaged that I didn't notice until after the movers left which means they weren't written down on the inspection sheet. Unfortunately, I cannot be compensated for those. For instance, the movers folded my memory foam mattress in half to fit it into a doorway. My mattress will now forever have a huge lump right down the middle. I now have to save up money for a new one which is a couple thousand dollars. My piece of advice for Mark the Movers is to train their moving team better so that all the damages I experienced do not happen to another customer. read more

Crew leader Charley Anderson, and movers Dylan Birkett, Fausto Lorenzo, and Keith Weaver were excellent. They arrived on time, kept us fully informed, offered effective suggestions, and WORKED nonstop during the entire move. When you move, especially if you aren't fully packed when the movers arrive (!), your personal life is on full display to the moving crew. These gentlemen were respectful, friendly to our kids, and nonjudgemental about our state of disarray--even when our 13 y.o. decided to stay in bed until the very last minute, snoozing while heavy furniture was being shrink-wrapped and carried out all around him. We will use Mark the Mover again when we move back into our newly-renovated house, and we will request Mr. Anderson and his crew! read more

I highly recommend Mark the Mover. I looked at several moving companies and selected Mark the Mover mostly because of their Yelp reviews and two friends also recommended them. My move was an intown move from one house to another house 4 miles apart. I have a lot of large pieces of furniture including antiques. They called 30 minutes prior to arriving, arrived on time, and were professional, courteous, careful, and very efficient. They took proper care of all of my furniture wrapping items individually and were careful moving everything out of and into my new home. I will never use another moving company! I hired Mark the Mover based its online reviews. I initially reserved another moving company and canceled that reservation because the company would not move me unless I emptied my dresser drawers beforehand. I HATE moving and the less I have to do the better. The movers were incredibly professional. The crew (Coleman, Mitch, "Fo Fo" and Kenyon) showed up five minutes before the time slot, so I pulled up with my Starbucks a bit surprised but pleased. The crew also worked fast. When movers are paid by the hour, I am always afraid that they will lollygag, but that was not the case. The team moved quickly and was very careful with my things. They also brought extra boxes for my knick knacks. The crew not only unpacked the truck, they insisted on also unpacking my car. They really made my experience easier. When I arrived at my new address I had a couple of deliveries awaiting me that required assembly and the fellows put the items together. The moving truck leaked gasoline in my driveway, and had to be towed. The company cleaned up the spill and sent someone the next day to power wash not just the gasoline, but my entire driveway! The washer, Andrew, even brushed pine out of the shrubs that lined the driveway. Needless to say, I was THRILLED. I wish they would spill gas on my driveway every six months. ;) This is not the cheapest company, but often you get what you pay for. Customer service and quality work go a long way for me. Have nothing but amazing things to say! I have had rough moves before so I was a little nervous, but all of the reviews said great things and they were right. Right from the start working with Justin, he was nice, professional and HONEST! They called the day before to confirm the move and the time and told me the driver would call when they left. My window was between 8AM and 9AM. They called at 10 to 8 and arrived at my place at exactly 8AM. The crew was very friendly, quick at their work and very careful with all of my belonging. In fact one of the guys could tell in my voice I was stressed and told me to let him do all the worrying for the day. I have moved many times in the past few years for work, including two transatlantic moves. We recently moved from Grant Park to Oakhurst and found Mark the Mover on Yelp. We couldn't have been pleased with the move. Charlie, the team leader was a pleasure to work with. He was professional, courteous and more than willing to accommodate us. There was a delay when we got to the new house as they still had the painters and cleaning crew getting it ready but again Charlie and his crew bent over backwards to help us through the ordeal. I used Mark the Mover is Sept 2013 and had a wonderful experience with them. They were extremely prompt, professional, and efficient. As others have noted, their prices aren't the cheapest but it was one of the easiest moves I've had. I was with my mother and we kept trying to pick stuff up or move boxes closer to the door and they kept waving us away and telling us they'd do it. When they moved my couch into the new place, they waited to see if we liked the spot where it was placed. After unpacking the boxes, one of the movers noticed my mom and I still discussing whether the couch should go where we had it and offered to move it just so we could see what it was like in a different spot. I honestly just went by reviews on yelp to select Mark the Mover, but having experienced it, I completely understand why people use them. They genuinely took all the concern and heartache of moving completely out and made it SO easy. I'm a big planner when it comes to moving so I was very prepared, but it doesn't change the speed in which they worked and how friendly/courteous AND professional they were. They accomodated some last minute adjustments to additional items I wanted to move and even did some extra things like stack my washer/dryer for me. First time ever using a moving company. I was very apprehensive about what to expect and fortunately I was not disappointed. The crew arrived on time and was able to assess the amount of stuff we had and got to work immediately. They blanketed everything we hadn't already packed and wrapped as well as helping us stuff the remaining boxes with items we had lying around. There was no issue with being moved into a third floor apartment. They covered the carpet in the new apartment where they knew they would walk and even moved furniture where we wanted it placed. The cost was within reason, there were no surprises and the whole crew was upbeat the whole time. First of all -- NOT a fraudulent ad. Ask Mike Addison about how he was a "no show" last Friday and then on Monday. Nothing fraudulent here about the very poor service received. Michael Addison is a very poor reference for this company. After two days of excuses, he finally just didn't show up to move us. He never called to tell us that, never returned our many calls or email communication. Rather, he just left us high and dry without so much as a courtesy of letting us know he WASN'T coming at all. He is full of excuses and still did not get the job done. I would not trust his word and find him to be very unreliable and untrustworthy. Not a good mover at all. read more

I researched for movers on yelp and booked w/ Mark the Mover b/c of the good reviews and their quote was comparable to other quotes I had received. Justin helped me book the move over the phone and was courteous and responsive when I told him that I wasn't sure whether I would need them or not since I was looking at using family. When I called to confirm the move, he was leaving for the day, but went ahead and put me on the board. He called me promptly the next day to get the rest of the details. The movers arrived on time the day of the move and called me when they were on their way. They were courteous, as well, during the move and paperwork and were all wearing Mark the Mover t-shirts. They wrapped everything in blankets and cellophane, and I could see that they were even trying not to scratch the wood floors at my new place. There was one piece of furniture that didn't fit well where I had asked them to place and they moved it to another room without problem. I had one chair leg that split during the move, and they sent over a furniture repair company to fix it for me. Overall, it was an easy and stress-free move! read more

These guys came to my rescue after my badly done interstate move. I had a large shipment of books to take from my home to my office. Doing business with these guys was a breeze - they came, picked up the books, drove them to my office, and that was that. We thought we had a relatively simple move in April when we moved from a condo to a 3 bedroom house about 2 miles away. Although the crew was punctual, they were not trained in assembling and disassembling wooden furniture or even basic First Aid. As a result our wood bed frame broke 4 days later. Like another reviewer noted, they also left a soiled unflushed toilet as well (after a deep cleaning the day prior). Although they did somewhat try to rectify the situation, we felt we had been put in danger after our bed frame fell apart while we were sleeping. Because the bed frame was not disassembled or re-assembled correctly, it broke 4 days after the move, while we were sleeping on it. The wood pieces had been (unnecessarily) taken apart from the nail and not re-nailed or reinforced back in, so eventually the weight caused the nail to come out of the wood socket. The young mover showed me the pieces and said, "I can just put it back together like this," but did not mention how dangerous "this" would be. I'm not trained in construction and said, "sure" not knowing that they were putting my family and I in danger. Otherwise who would agree to this kind of woodwork? They also asked me to sign a paper saying everything was fine (which initially it was because this kind of error shows up after some time when the wood separates from the nail due to weight). Later learned the technique was absolutely wrong and we could have been hurt. The owner's response below shows he knew about the damage, and the cause of the bed breaking was not an "unknown." Way to damage yourself with your own comment! Thankfully the mattress was strong enough that we were not injured. We were very busy with the move and unfortunately were delayed in informing the company for about a week and got help to fix one of the two bed frames ourselves so we had a place to sleep. We were told that this "violated the rights of the company to see the damage" (as you can imagine we were shocked at the response given we could have been seriously injured by their negligence and felt like our rights were violated). Even if it is their policy to see the damage, they should have a better way of speaking to clients who were almost injured due to their negligence. The owner was responsive after we notified him, but not apologetic in his emails (should have been less accusatory legal-ese and more apologetic that his crew was untrained and could have injured us or a child if we had fallen). In addition, in his last email where he declined to compensate us for the $20 wood we had to buy for the bed frames (which, of note, his repairman also used), he included a statement that said something like, "glad we were able to do everything to your satisfaction." That's a big assumption and also incorrect. I should have realized by some of their online responses to valid complaints that they are more concerned with accusatory responses hidden behind legalese, than apologizing for untrained staff. The wood was $20; the cost of the move was over $1000. They should leave legalese to the contract. It shows how little they care for their clients even if we are hurt by the negligence of the movers. Anyway, they sent a great repairman immediately, and saw both the beds and our repair to one of the frames, admitted that the crew had really messed up, and fixed the other frame. We were also told by another lady attendant by phone that the crew member who had worked on the bed (who looked like he was a teenager) was also new to the company. The fact they had someone so young and new doing a difficult task like wood working is very upsetting. In addition, this young man cut his hand while building the bed, and literally brought his bleeding hand cupped under another hand down the steps, and left blood in my sink. I helped him out with a first aid kit and asked if he needed to go to the ER, which he declined. Thankfully this was a minor cut, and given that they are working with wood, they should have at least had a first aid kit or training about these situations. We paid over $1000 for this move, and gave the 3 crew members $180 in tips, so we felt our right to receive trained movers was violated and we could have been injured because of their lack of training. They can do simple moves, but I would not trust them for assembling anything. Also PLEASE NOTE that the owner's comments had to be flagged, removed and edited because they initially put my name and job in the original response which was absolutely appalling since I had respected the privacy of the 3 movers who had come by not disclosing their names. Also please note how they turned my review into SELF-PRAISE! And one more thing, I didn't mention the soiled toilet in the document regarding damage because I didn't see it until later. Most people don't feel the need to go around checking the toilet bowls in the guest bathrooms after a move and deep professional clean...maybe next time I will! Yelpers Beware!!!!! read more

SUPERIOR, EFFICIENT SERVICE! After researching movers, I decided on Mark the Mover based off the reviews. I have moved a lot over the years including local and long distance moves. This was the most efficient move and the nicest movers EVER! From the first converstaion to the last hand shake, they were professional, had great attitudes, never complained once, and had a willingness to help unprecedented of any previous move. Mike, Q, and Luke called to confirm the day prior, called the day of and wanted to start early (how awesome!), and never slowed down or lost pace. This was a two-part move from a condo and large storage area with large furniture, to one consolidated new condo. They padded and shrink wrapped all the furniture and moved quickly, yet carefully. I enjoyed most their attitudes. All three were so positive and had an "anything is possible" attitude - MIke's chant every time I would ask a question or wonder something alound would be "Never fear, Mark the mover is here!"... throughout the entire day. Oh - and nothing was damanged.. furniture or walls. Simply the best, most efficient move, with the best movers that I have experienced. read more

We moved from a very packed 3/2 with a full attic into a much larger home. Colman and his crew (4 guys total) arrived promply at 8am. The did a great job making sure to be careful with our stuff. It took a long time to load it into the truck, but not as long to get it into our house. All together it took them 8 hours. It was the best money we'd ever spent!
