I often will hit up this MB when I head over to the The Walmart next door. I really like the size and variety of this store compared to the closer location in Ashland. It's much larger. The produce is fresh, and they have a wide variety of Brands. The 3 stars is because the parking lot is a nightmare!!! Often time you are waiting in a aisle waiting for someone to pull out. It's small and poorly laid out. If you go early or later in the evening parking is easier. read more

I hate this store so much and I'll tell you why. First, let's get the prices out of the way. Yes, they are great. Having great prices doesn't completely make up for a horrendous shopping experience. There is not a day of the week or time of day that this place isn't a total shitstorm. Seriously, it's ALWAYS packed. 7 AM on Sunday, noon on Monday, 8 PM on Saturday, it doesn't matter. Not only is it always packed, it seems to be exclusively patronized by people who have never been in a grocery store in their life. They don't look when they're coming out of an aisle, they'll park their cart in the middle of an aisle, they'll walk straight into you. It's stunning. The parking situation is awful. Grocery stores half this size usually have three times the parking. The store itself is... not the cleanest. It's not disgustingly dirty but the flooring and especially the refrigerator shelves are really beat up. It's in desperate need of any kind of update. I know most Market Baskets are like walking straight back into the 80s but this one is just old and dingy in every way. The employees are fine. Most of them, especially the adults, care much more than the employees I've dealt with at the likes of Shaws/Star or Stop and Shop (both stores which are also chock full of maniac shoppers like this one is). All in all, the prices keep me coming back occasionally, but I would much rather drive a little bit further to Big Y in Franklin than go here, even if it is more expensive. read more

Outstanding Customer Service from Aaron Boulder! It is Saturday evening and the can of Capatriti Olive Oil I use to make my most prized Italian meal was on sale that week. Therefore to my dismay the shelf was empty. As I stood at the top of aisle 2 awaiting any employee for several minutes patiently; up from Aisle 1 came a young man "Aaron" obviously on a mission. I caught his attention, he asked if he could help me? I replied I was hoping that someone could check out back to see if there was any oil? He replied let me get someone to help you. I thanked him. Seven minutes passed still no workers in sight; another couple of minutes Aaron walks passed again, stops dead in his tracks! Very politely asks Has anyone helped you yet? No they haven't... Again he went for assistance. I heard the second announcement for assistance in Grocery Aisle 2. As I continued to patiently wait with no assistance Aaron now at the end of his shift with his coat on walking to the exit saw that I was still standing there and once again came to my aid, this time he took action by going to the front end Manager Dimetrio who was happy to help. No oil in back. Turns out GROCERY was at Dinner! ALL of them. So in that 25 minutes of unnecessary inconvenience a young man DISPLAYED his true CHARACTER. Market Basket should be pleased to have Aaron as a part of their team. Furthermore I went back Sunday morning to check and see if the oil had been restocked.... No luck; But I turn to find and old friend standing behind me we chatted on the other side of the aisle for several minutes. When we hugged to say goodbye I saw there were in FACT 4 CANS of CAPATRITI oil on the bottom shelf back against the wall. Point being perhaps if someone from Grocery had been available Saturday evening they very well may have been able to direct me to the overstock hidden on the bottom shelf. I think some people reviewing Market Basket might work for the competition or want to scare people away so the lines are shorter. The prices are great and the employees are friendly and helpful. This store was built years ago so it is smaller than the area requires, but they have employees filling the shelves during the day to try to keep up. If the owner is reading this, please build a new mega store in our area; if you build it, they will come. You can't blame the store for rude customers, they are in all stores these days. I see comments about old people, they aren't bad compared to the obnoxious, oblivious people on their mobile phones blocking aisles. They need an area to sit (like the newer Market Baskets) and have coffee so mothers with kids that meet up can sit and chat rather than block aisles. I tend to park in the back of the lot or up near T-Mobile and walk, it gives me a little more exercise and gets me in and out faster. If I go an hour before closing in bad weather, I park in front of the store and there are no lines. read more

Too many people taking stars away from this store for reasons like beeing crowded or bad parkin, and not enough giving it a 5 star for the price you pay. Well if no one here knows how to rate a store taking what matters in consideration then i will! 5 stars here. But lets start with the cons: . parking lot is a joke, in the weekend i just park in front of game stop dont even bother trying to get a park near MB. But i dont mind walking. Costumer service... well i dont go to market basket to Chat, so i dont care. Pisses me off when the workers there make you move when youre trying to shop so they can go through the aisle with whatever theyre carrying like theyre the priority, but once again, deal with it, world aint perfect kid. Old people everywhere, theyre old, and theyre slow, go around them kid, stop crying about it. The Deli line sometimes takes 30 minutes? TRUE . Do it like me and shop half your list while you wait for it (or do you really sit there and wait for yout turn? what is wrong with you?) The Place is crowded? YES, ALL the time! Learn your way in there, its not the first time you shop in a supermarket dude, so by now you should know where the stuff is without having to ask, so once again, GO AROUND THE OLD PEOPLE, shop in 2, someone picking up stuff the other one getting the cart around. The lines in the end are LARGE. so save 3 itens in your list, leave your buddy or girlfriend waiting on the line (remember shop there in pairs) and finish your list while he waits there. Or in some cases where im by myself, leave the cart unatended but IN LINE, and use that time that you would be wwaiting (just like for the deli section) and finish your list. I can do a 35 - 40 item list in an out in less than an hour, just cry less, complain less, buy in pairs, go around the old people, learn where everything is, use the deli waiting time to buy more stuff, dont cry about walking half a mile back to your car. and there you go not a single star taken from market basket cause i dont rate based on stupid stuff like this. i rate because 95% of EVERYHTHING in there is cheaper then anywhere around Mass. (just one place called Aldi, in milford is really cheap too but far to smal for me to even compare them). So save a lot of money, and save your patience, being smart, and not just a cry baby. 5 stars and i hope to god they never close again. read more

To all the complainers, "get a life!" MB is the only store where I can still fill my basket with all the basics my family will need for a week for under $60. This is what food shopping is all about. Yeah, Aldi's prices are good if you like the brands they sell. But when I shop there, I always wind up back at MB to fill the gaps. read more

I've been having issues with rotten chicken for months and months now. I finally gave up buying chicken from your stores. Check your chicken! Also front end managers need to be a little nicer to cashiers and baggers in front of customers. Very rude to some of these older cashiers and it's disgusting, what ever happened to respecting your elders? The younger baggers that come into work after school need to learn how to bag properly instead of bagging my tomatoes and bread with caned veggies and eggs. My husband and I usually shop at Stop & Shop, but every now and then we try Market Basket. Honestly, you can't beat the prices here. We usually spend at least $40 less here than we do at S&S. They have a pretty varied selection, although it takes a while to find some things if you're not used to the layout. There are a few reasons for only the 3 stars. First, the kids that work there seem as though they couldn't care less. I almost wiped out in the water aisle because a gallon of water was overturned in the middle,. When we told the boy working near there, he put a 12pk of soda in the middle of the HUGE puddle. We finally heard an announcement 10 minutes later calling for a mop. Also, the girls working the checkout are practically zombies. One girl bagged our groceries and put them in the cart all crazy, so the milk was sitting on the bread, everything was squashed. Weekend days are craaazy. The parking lot is a shittshow and the wait at the deli is always at least 20 minutes. Be prepared if you do go on Saturday or Sunday. read more

I try to avoid this place when possible. Yes the prices are cheaper here than any other store other than Aldi but I'd rather pay a few cents more per item to avoid the dredges of society that seem to frequent here. And that feeling somehow it doesn't seem limited to just the Bellingham store. Every Marketbasket store seems to share the same narrow aisles, lack of general cleaning, and asinine parking lot layout. read more

Ok normally I wouldn't review a grocery store and normally this market basket is clean and stocked and has friendly service, but with what happened to me today I feel I need to so hopefully a manager will see. Today I stopped in to pick up a few things before heading to work. I stopped at the Deli counter to get some hot dogs after I got my hot dogs from the Deli lady while I was walking away I notice 3 of the hot dogs were green! I walked back grabbed a number an waited to speak with someone I told them they are green and not good, they tried to tell me it's just a funny color but they are fine but they will replace them. I worked in a meat department at BJ's for years a a kid and I could tell instantly this the package of Hotdogs had a blown kryovak(they were exposed to air and not Edible anymore that's how you get Is bacheloism! Seriously that's dangerous luckily I noticed but other people might have believed that they were just a funny color and possibly gotten really sick. I was in a rush so I didn't ask to speak to a manager so hopefully this will be seen because that's dangerous and both people I dealt with needs to be retrained in food safety. read more

Ok why 5 stars? Well, the reason it is so crowded is that it is THE BEST place to shop if you consider budget and quality together. No other supermarket is cheaper. They also have a growing selection of non-meat, organic and vegan foods. The aisles are large and the place is pretty large. In order to combat the crowds we go at odd hours like first thing in the day. It makes it fun, even when we take the kids because then there is almost no one there and you get done incredibly quickly. Sometimes I do go to Whole Foods to get specialty items but for the most part I find everything I need at Market Basket. read more

More cons than pros here. Start of with the good. Their prices in general are pretty good overall. The cons now. Their parking lot is a nightmare, especially to get out of. Then they are always so busy, their aisles are narrow and it is difficult to move around. Not a fan of their produce as well, in general I get better produce elsewhere. And lastly, they dont have enough cahsiers, i often have to wait in long lines. Best recommendation is that if you are watching your $, go there at odd hours, otherwise go elswhere. read more

The prices are great! Shopping here will definitely save you money but it might make you crazy!! The parking is terrible, the store is always way too crowded and you have to wait about 30 minutes at the deli line. People are pushy and bumping into your cart, texting on the phone, yelling at their kids. It's like a zoo. The store has narrow aisles that are always clogged with people stocking the shelves and they are often out of the items I want. Then you have to wait 8 people deep to check out. The store never appears to be really clean either. You will get good prices but not much else! read more

Wanted to share kudos for the staffing at Bellingham Market Basket this morning. We are forecasted to get hit with ~12-18 inches of snow, so EVERYONE is out shopping to stock up. Yes, it was crazy in the parking lot and in the store, but MB had extra staffing to: - open up all cashier lines, and I mean all. Even the 20items lanes were double/triple up. - load/unload from cart to check out and back to cart - gather up all the carts from parking lot (so every space can be used for car) and plenty in the store for shopping - and restocking the shelves when items were low in supply. I've been to a couple Market Baskets and Bellingham's store ranks somewhere in the middle. They don't have the conveniences of the newer market baskets, but they aren't as dirty and cramped as the older Market Baskets. Their prices are pretty good, and pretty much no matter what you buy, it's going to be fresh because of the sheer volume of people that shop there. If you want Lobster and it's been advertised on the front page of their flier, you better do a Hail Mary on the way to the store... at 7am... and maybe you'll get one. So why did the store get 4 stars instead of 5? The parking lot. I don't know who designed a parking lot (there's a Market Basket, a Staples, a Walmart, a McDonalds and handful of other stores), but they thought a 4-way stop and only one way in or out of the parking lot would be a great idea... clearly it was not. read more

Great place to fget food a little bit cheaper, but it is always overcrowed. The parking lot needs another exit.

Some good and some not so good here. I have stopped going there after just a few trips. Their produce is nothing to write home about, I've thrown out most of the fruits I've bought there, especially their cantaloupe and pineapples. The place is usually jam packed, difficult moving a carriage around people and other carriages. The place is a bit dirty on average as well, compared to your S&S. The best thing about them are their prices- you can't deny that. So for packaged/canned items they are fine if you can overlook some of their negatives. read more

First off, who doesn't like market basket because I absolutely love it. I'm not a fan of their somewhat small and very busy parking lot, but I'm a huge fan of their prices! I used to spend double the amount when I went to other known grocery stores until I moved closer to a market basket a year ago. I have been coming to this market basket for a little over a year and I am very glad I chose to come here. The employees are very helpful and nice. Everything is stocked neatly and organized, but don't get your hopes up thinking you'll get the same brand every week. Sometimes they don't re stock the same things every week (yogurt, cream etc) the deli is always busy, but their deli meat is always fresh. I always get salmon on my shopping day and Mike, the employee always helps me. He always has a smile on his face and is so helpful when I have questions! They always have tons of meat, fruit and vegetables! When I'm checking out I always go to the same woman, Pat and she usually has the same bagger and his name is Bob. They really put a smile on my face before I walk out of Market Basket. Every employee there matters and every one of them are so nice and pleasant. There is always someone asking if you need help to your car whether you have a lot of groceries, if you're elderly, if you're alone, or pregnant. Those employees may see it as just a regular day, but I truly enjoy seeing the same faces every week when I go food shopping. Cons- I do not like their shopping cart straps for my son, I wish they had made them like a normal strap. Other customers will always be talking in the aisles and not thinking of shopping customers trying to shop. There are always employees trying to stock the shelves (which is a necessity) but sometimes you get a traffic jam. The parking lot gets VERY busy. I suggest you come early in the morning. I don't even dare you to come during a holiday, shop a few days before if need be! Pros- very helpful, nice and happy staff. Shelves are always stocked. Market basket has very low prices and a great variety of produce. Their greens in particular are wonderful, and very fresh. A few of my favorite items are so much cheaper there that I'll drive the extra 10 minutes just for them. The sushi isn't bad at all, and very reasonably priced. Expect a rather crowded parking lot, and lots of fellow human beings from all walks of life doing their shopping. So be patient. Enjoy hearing a few languages, and give a smile to a senior citizen even if they're not moving as fast as you. Don't expect it to be a convenience store; you won't be first in line at checkout. Relax and you'll have a great experience and save a lot too. (If you want a spacious parking lot and an elite shopping experience, go to Whole Foods in the facing plaza. Just bring lots of extra cash.) read more

Bad Milk Taste I've noticed in the past week or so that the taste of the Whole Milk Market Basket sells has had a sour taste to it. To the point where I will no longer buy Milk from your chain, Why buy sour tasting Milk if your going to pour it down the sink. I will tell you this I have not purchased Milk from Shaws Supermarket for well over a years because of this bitter/sour taste. Up to a few weeks ago I'd go out of my way to purchase Market Basket milk because it tasted better. Now this has changed in the last four gallons of Milk I have purchased at Market Basket just taste bad. If Market Basket is buying Milk from a different source than go back to the original you had a few weeks ago. There is a big difference... I will stop buying Milk from your store as well. Please look into this, has the Milk quality rating or grade dropped. I know I'm not the only one that has detected this sour taste in your milk. Just do a search on the Internet. Absolute worst raspberries ever. Every time I try to get a box from there, they're always awful. They sell a lower quality produce at a lower price so things like apples/oranges are less than stellar but they're usually much cheaper than other stores. The raspberries, however, are the same price as elsewhere at around $4. The quality is unacceptable. They're OLD and tasteless and have been in fridge/freezer for weeks and are completely inedible. They should either be at a significant discount, or thrown out. I can't imagine how anyone would be happy with them, they're mushy, bland, and belong in the trash. read more

This place probably has the best prices of any market, however it does have quite a few downsides. First of all the quality of the produce is retched. You buy fruits and vegetables one day and they will likely be rotting within two days. Secondly the place is always mobbed - day and night - you never have a down time here. Walking through the parking lot is to take your life into your own hands, and trying to get out in your car must rival commutes in L.A.! Not to mention some of the rudest and most inconsiderate people seem to shop there. However, as I said before the prices for non produce items are unbeatable - so I will continue to go. read more

Parking is a nightmare. Whatever time I go, aisles blocked by staff stocking shelves; in my younger days, I worked a night shift stocking a supermarket. Too many people with aisles blocked, restricted access 'cause skids in aisles. Deli crowded most all the time. Not big enuf? Not staffed enuf? Fish often smells fishy and gotta go find somebody if you want fish. Checkout lines too long, staff too slow there and staff too chatty with friends, other staff. Prices OK but not compelling enuf vs the other shortcomings to warrant more than a complete stock up, once a month visit. read more

I went to my Local location and was greeted by a cart boy named Dylan in a very mad mood. As I browsed the limited selection, I finally went to check out. The boy Anthony at the register made me very uncomfortable and I wished to leave as soon as possible. He then showed me that he had no idea how to input my plums, he had to ask for assistance and finally as I was attempting to leave he was unable to get the recipt from the machine. I am very dissatisfied and will not recommend this location again. read more

I may be old-fashioned, but I go to the grocery store to buy groceries. If I want pampering, I go get a pedicure. The prices at Market Basket are wonderful. People shop with smiles on their faces, not that frozen, Oh, God, is there anything I can afford look that you see at Shaw's. There's a rumor that they're going to open a store in the Attleboro area. Let me start by saying I've shopped at this store for a few years now. The prices are great, the selection is great, and the employees are for the most part very helpful. So why did I rate this store a 1 star? Well that stems from my experience this morning. It was around 8:45 or 9:00 AM and I was waiting in line at the deli counter (yes, there is a line that early). I normally don't mind having to wait, the workers seem like they are working pretty hard, and I've seen some of the Jack Asses they have to deal with. Today though while I was waiting I decided to check out the weeks deals on seafood. While standing there I over heard one of the employees complaining about all the dead lobsters that were left over from the previous days. To my disgust, I saw them start to cook them! That was it! I used to shop here all the time....but one time while shopping my husband stood in the hour long deli line....while waiting for his cold cuts the deli guy slicing his order had a runny nose....my husband witnessed him wipe his nose with his hand and proceed to slice away - smiled and handed him his order....which he ditched in the fish case (maybe that's where all the bad smells come from :) ...MAYBE everyone else doing the same thing - DISGUSTING! He won't even step foot in the store anymore. If you are stocking up on packaged items for your pantry - you can't beat the prices...but the gas to get there and the time it takes to get a parking spot and then exit.....I'd rather spend the few extra bucks and shop closer to home. read more

Bait-and-switch! It's the third time I've been to the Bellingham, MA store only to find out they're out of a sale item. Witness: Minute Maid OJ was on sale for $2.00...big sign on the store-front window. I'm only to find that their shelves were stocked to the brim with Market Basket OJ at the same price. No Minute Maid to be found. Store Manager, Peter, 31 yrs. (Badge) never went to the back room to check if the juice was in stock. When you travel 10-15 miles to get the sale price on a product, you would expect them to have the product on the shelf. It is a bit out of my way but I go here once in a while when I need some odd items, especially ethnic items I may not find at the other places. It is not as busy now so there are hours that I don't mind going there without the need to fight for parking. I may end up making it regular if they keep having good specials. I CAN'"T believe my need to defend market basket surpasses my personal no replying to strangers on the internet rule ( I came on looking for coupons!) but here I go...... For ALL of you who cannot figure out the give and take of market basket allow me to explain. 1. Low overhead means lower prices for consumers. If you want to stand in cash register line and be enticed at a ten dollar box of Lake Champlain chocolates go to Whole Foods if you want a .25 cent hershsey bar go to market basket and save thousands a year. 2. Must you beat up the baggers at MB-many of whom are physically or mnetally challenged? Help them-don't hurt them-is it so difficult to give gentle advise?How about praising the company for hiring them, probably even providing them health insurnace and STILL keep thier prices to consumers low. 3. The butcher is a moron? Oh I'd watch it if I were you. Calling a man with a meat cleaver a moron is just plain stupid. I personally love those guys. They do whatever I ask when I ring that silly bell as well as the men in the ever present maroon coats. They just need a little respect and it goes a long way. 4. If possible go early a.m. or late pm and duh why he person who went Tues a.m. could not figure out by the blue head war zone it was senior citizcen discount day??? ......easy observation-stay out of there on Tues a.m. 5.
