Market Grill is a decent diner but could be so much better. We recently dined there and I ordered the green chilies burger. When it arrived the burger looked good, the green chillies on top looked delicious, but the cheese was just unceremoniously flopped on top of the cold green chillies. As such it could not melt and looked less than appetizing. I moved the cheese to the other side of the hot burger so it could melt. Once this was done the burger looked and tasted great. Little things like melting the cheese on a burger can take a fine establishment like Market Grill from average to very good. The rolls were to die for I must say!! I grew up in Cedar and back then a place like Market Grill was considered high end dining. 30 years later not much has changed with Market Grill but with so much more competition out there (even in little old Cedar City) it's time to move into the next century. If you're asking where the locals go for breakfast? This is that place. Don't go there thinking it's a fancy/trendy place. The decor is the same as it was in the 80's but when you want a great manhandlers breakfast, you overlook the decor. There are regulars there daily and if you can overlook the MAGA hats and right wing hate speech in most booths, it's worth the great meal. The wait staff are the most friendly in town and if you go there more than once, they will remember your name. I only know it as a breakfast joint even though they serve all three meals. You're in for a treat if you go there on Thursday morning as you will see a real life livestock auction as it is attached to the building in the back. read more

I love the market grill. It is truly one of Cedar's Treasures!!. I always go whenever I visit Cedar( miss it when i am not there:).I agree with the previous reviewer on, the bacon is absolutely the best I have ever had, potatoes are great with the white gravy(some of the college kids come here just for a take out order of them!!!) and the pork dinner special is excellent (don't know the day the special is on?)but it is very reasonably priced and is great!!!! The service is great, they seem to take extra care of you and give great prompt service with a smile. I highly recommend the Market grill and can't wait to go again on my next visit. read more

Went in there for lunch. Small diner. We walked in and there was no "please wait to be seated" so we sat in the one empty booth. There were at least five waitresses standing behind the counter about seven feet from us. Two were talking to a young man in the back. One was standing at the counter staring into space and the older woman wouldn't look our way. The fifth one was talking to the table next to us about where she went to school (SUU of course) for a long time. We wondered if we had did something wrong and tried to catch someone's eye. The menus were in sight and these gals walked right past them. It was a table service diner. After ten minutes of no one offering us menus or any sort of service we walked out. I hate when local places act like this. They have no customer service. Although it's far from our first choice for lunch, we ended up at Applebees with great service. Cedar City, Bryce, Panguitch and Kanab local restaurants really stink for customer service. They rely on tourists who don't come back so they don't care how horrid the service or food is. read more

This place has a great heritage in Cedar City, located at the live stock auction, the true cowboy feel rings through the decor and food. They have the best BACON I have ever had. The food is simple but great. I feel like I'm at my grandmas house every time I go. I would highly recommend it to anyone! Especially to BACON lovers! read more

My first sign should have told me what to expect - I didn't want to even touch the front door. We walked in, seated ourselves at a table with the most God awful, filthy kitchen chairs. Perfectly cooked savory slab bacon, huge tasty pancakes, creamy hash browns with a wicked crust, excellent sourdough toast... Our party of five left stuffed and satisfied. I stayed in Cedar City for 2 months and went to Market Grill every weekend. This place is the perfect diner to grab a delicious brunch. Nothing fancy. They keep the menu simple and make the food good. You are always seated quickly by the hostess, greeted quickly by the waitress, and food comes out hot and just how you order it. I never expected a Michelin Star quality restaurant because that is not what they are trying to achieve. Simple, affordable, delicious food is what they aim for and they hit it every time. read more

We ate at the Market Grill the other morning and this time it was a lot better than the times before. But the cook was different it was a girl instead of the guy that usually cooks, The food came out hot and quick. It tasted good and was not to greasy. read more

We loved this place, visited when in town for a ski weekend. First it's rustic and a bit of a time warp. If you are looking for a legit western feel it's your place. The diner is in front of a livestock auction house. It feels western rustic country. The staff was super friendly and attentive. We have prime rib and a ribeye steak..... with the chef salad and homemade apple pie with caramel and walnuts. The price was good. We will be back. read more

What a dump! The little boy does not know how to cook and the old lady does not know that the food is bad. I ordered Chicken Fried Steak, it was tasteless and almost burnt. Over priced and dirty! It's like this place is never cleaned. ..EVER! Flies were everywhere, just disgusting! I'm very surprised the health department has not done something about the cleanliness. Now the food, small hockey pucks for burgers that are overcooked (small, dry and bland). Huge disappointment! read more

My food was ok; my wife's was burned. I had the double patty burger with jalepenos on sourdough. It would have been a good sandwich but the toppings were too skimpy. Picture a large toasted sourdough slice of bread - big enough it takes two hamburger patties to cover it. Cover one side in melted swiss and jalepenos. Cut it in two - each half is still a respectable size and give just enough onions and lettuce to either cover one half or give a light sprinkle to both halves. And only 1 slice of tomato. Each sandwich half was bigger than the entire tomato slice. The sandwich tasted good but lacked enough toppings for a top rating. My wife's sandwich - chicken cordon blue - was burned on one side (conveniently put face down on the plate in the hopes we wouldn't see it). One doesn't need to see it to taste it. It went down hill from there. We left unsatisfied and disappointed. read more

The pies (yes, pieS... coconut there and chocolate for later- no I don't weigh 300 lbs but probably could) were great and these are the places that road weary travelers should frequent. Yes, it's adjacent to a livestock market, but that's what makes the bacon so delicious. I was totally impressed with the hearty Manhandler breakfast (eggs, bacon, hash browns and toast). Great service! You could tell this is where the local ranchers eat. A real gem. read more

We really like this place, but haven't been back in awhile because we have been forgotten about, twice. We got sat at a table in the back when they were busy and went unnoticed until I got up to flag someone down, 25 min later. Crap happens so we came back, and the same thing happened again. I understand being busy, but don't forget about tables in the back. Just be sure to sit somewhere in front and you should be good to go. Great breakfasts! I'M IMPRESSED!!! The French toast was excellent. The corn beef hash was fantastic. REALLY impressed with the hash browns. They weren't too burnt, still a little moist. All I can say is I'm really impressed. read more

Stopped here on our way to Bryce Canyon. I had not been to a good small town cattle country grill since my travels to Montana in years prior, and this brought me back. Tasty grass-fed beef grilled up right. Also good pie. First time my girlfriend had been to this sort of place, and she was an instant fan. The Market Grill is a legend in Cedar City and is well Known threw out Utah and beyond. All of their food is homemade. You don't find that anywhere any more. You can eat here cheaper than a fast food joint. Simply hands down the best breakfast and burgers I have ever had read more

I have been in as a group of 8 for breakfast. 4 children 4 adults. Twice the the waitresses serving us seemed annoyed by our presence. It was very uncomfortable. The first time I thought it was just a cranky waitress. That's why we tried it again a week later. Different waitress, just as annoyed by a group of 8. Now when family comes from out of town for breakfast we go to American Diner. Ordered dinner for take out. Chicken fried steak dinner was great. The ground sirloin steak was a wafer thin hamburger patty that was dried out and tasteless. The green beans had a strong vinegar taste and the gravy was tasteless. Won't go back. Too bad. This is THE PLACE for breakfast in Cedar City. They have the best PORK CHOPS and eggs I've ever had. The pork chop was as tender as tenderloin. The biscuits and gravy very good as well (mind you, everyone has their prefences when it comes to B&E). This is a place where real ranchers come to eat. Stopped on our way home to Arizona. Small place but friendly. Was between the breakfast and lunch transition so a little slow to get our food but waitress was very apologetic. Ordered chicken noodle soup, excellent, grilled ham and cheese, very good and a cheese burger. Small patty so if you are hungry get the double but flavor was good.
