Decided to come to Nordstrom marketplace and it was one of the best decisions ever. Lunch was delicious. I had the chicken tomatillo soup and it came with a crostini. I ordered the biscuit. They gave us some ciabatta rolls. The soup has some nice spice to it and nice little chunks of chicken that were really good. It was along with all the breads my friend ordered the Cobb salad with grilled chicken and that was also a hit. I think overall the greatest hit was the hospitality. Great customer service and just an elegant lovely spot to have a nice little afternoon outing Either before or after shopping at Nordstrom. The service was great. The menu is very limited and so is the drinks list. The burger is good but the French dip is terrible. The meat was old and grisly, not cut correctly and I think that was fat from the meat instead of cheese. I ate one bite. Beef is not supposed to be grey. We also had the chicken tacos for an appetizer - I'm not sure there was any chicken in them, but hard shell tacos are hard to eat without making a mess and you can't put enough filling in them to taste it over the shell anyway. It's been a while since my friend and I met at the Nordstrom's Marketplace Café, but like a familiar friend, it's like the cafe is frozen in the early aughts, which is not altogether a bad thing. We almost had the cafe to ourselves in the early evening and sat at one of the large booths. You order at the counter and the menu is familiar, soups, salads, sandwiches. My friend ordered the creamy tomato soup, which comes with some toasted bread and I ordered the cilantro and lime salad with salmon. There were mixed greens, cherry tomatoes, toasted seeds and tortilla strips ( a little stale) nicely dressed with cilantro and tangy citrus. The salmon was cooked well. The wait person brought our drinks quickly and then timed our food to come out together, after a short wait. He checked on us, refilled drinks, took away plates and gave us a lemon ricotta cookie, gratis. It was almost like a biscuit with a nice lemony and tart frosting. As I remember it, the cafe can be busy and crowded at lunch but for dinner it's rather quiet and sleepy. My friend and I were able to catch up without being disturbed or rushed. read more

Old school in-store dining survives in just a handful of department stores. The chow in this café, which has a combination of counter- and table-service, has been consistently fine through the years. But the décor is starting to look timeworn and, compared to stand-alone eateries of similar caliber, prices are a bit steep. The menu continues to feature both trendy dishes and comfort food standards. I ordered the wild salmon with roasted vegetables and saffron couscous ($19.75). The salmon was a tad dry (I prefer it grilled or poached), but the portion was more than ample and the fish was expertly seasoned. The generous couscous & veggie side was as scrumptious as it was colorful. My Missus began with a cup of tomato basil soup, a longtime menu staple which we've enjoyed here in the past. Her entrée, the grilled skirt steak ($22), used to be one of her faves here, but the chef has revamped this dish. The meat is now accompanied by a polenta corn cake and baby carrots, and anointed with salsa and queso. She was not pleased with the toppings or the sides (I tasted the polenta and it was really very good). I have always been a fan of Nordstrom cafe. Kids love their Mac and cheese and chicken tenders. I love their salads: shrimp and arugula, berry salad, and the chicken, apple and goat cheese salad! The food here is absolutely delicious! Although slightly overpriced, I don't mind spending the extra $ for the high quality food here. The menu isn't very dense as there are a few pasta, salads, sandwiches selections. I most always go for the pasta here since the few pastas I've had were perfect! The portions are perfect as well. I had the chance to try some of my sister's salad and wow... the salad was amazing too! It was fresh and perfectly tossed! My go to restaurant every time I'm at old orchard (seriously the best dining option). Food is amazing and always fresh. Service is on point. Atmosphere is really nice for a department store (there is also a super cute outdoor seating option). This past Sunday I decided to try something new: prosciutto and arugula pizza. It was delicious! I'm personally not the biggest fan of pesto but the combination was great. My mom and I split the pizza and had the cilantro lime salad (this is her favorite and she always orders it. I also very highly recommend the shrimp and arugula salad (my #1 favorite), salmon nicosie (tied for #1 as well), blackened salmon Caesar salad and if you are looking for a hearty option the skirt steak chimichurri is bomb!! Love the food here. From the chicken to the pastas and salad everything is so good. If your in mood for salad make sure you try the Cilantro chicken salad. It's so good and a lot of flavor. The Tuscan Chicken is also really good comes with tons of veggies. I went here with my husband on a date afternoon for lunch. The menu looks good and there is something for everyone. The food is somewhat overpriced for what you get. I got a tuna sandwich which was on par of what I could get at Corner Bakery. The spiced chips were very heavy on the spice and not very good. Service was good but the restaurant needs to decide whether it is table service or quick service. This hybrid is kind of strange. As a mom, I noticed a lack of high chairs as well. read more

What happened to the coffee? I have been visiting Marketplace Cafe for over 10 years and it's always been awesome. That is, until a couple of weekends ago when the served us coffee that hardly had any coffee in it! I wonder if this is a weak attempt to save money, but it's not a smart idea. One of Old Orchard Mall's best kept secrets!! After spending a super long day shopping I love to GET AWAY from the crowds and eat at Nordstrom Cafe! Why? 1) Quiet!!! The outdoor seating is so quiet and I feel like I am in someone's backyard! 2) Delicious!!! The food is amazing, filling, and nice sized portions. It is gourmet without the extravagant price! 3) Signature Chocolate Mints!!! They give away chocolate mint sticks (kind of like the Andes chocolates at Olive Garden) which is the best way to end the meal! Friendly staff and you pay up front! Excellent food, but a somewhat loud and frenetic feeling probably due to the Nordstrom anniversary sale starting the day we had lunch. It was very crowded. This is a fast casual concept where you order and pay at the register before taking your table. They have a nice mix of upscale salads, sandwiches, pizzas and entrees. We had the apple, goat cheese and chicken salad; the Asian chicken salad and the grilled shrimp and arugula salad. All were delicious and had very fresh produce. The apple salad had a spring mix of lettuces, crisp apple slices and moist grilled chicken breast. The champagne vinaigrette was a perfect complement to the mix. The Asian salad was also well balanced with slices of roasted chicken breast perfectly dressed with the sweet ginger soy dressing. The grilled shrimp and arugula salad could be perfect with a few tweaks. The yellow polenta (or were they a dense corn bread?) croutons were completely mismatched with the rest of the salad - salty, yet flavorless at the same time. No croutons would be better. There were also some stale/slightly soggy cheese crisp crumbles on the salad that detracted from the rest. The grilled/charred corn could have been more abundant and some scallions would have added some nice sharpness. Besides the 5 medium size perfectly grilled shrimp and the good amount arugula the best thing by far was the light and hint of sweet garlic vinaigrette. Would come back just to taste that again. Warm focaccia rolls with butter were brought out and were fresh and moist. Don't sit at the booth or table just across from the door to the patio- too much heat and traffic in that spot - very distracting. The prices are a bit high for fast casual service in my opinion. Oh my god the food here was delicious!!!! I recommend the chicken club/glazed bacon sandwich and their soups!!! Everyone here was so nice - our server was the most attentive and sweetest. For dessert, I had a lemon tart, and although I didn't like it, I feel like those who actually like lemon tarts would love it - personal taste. I have never been to Nordstrom cafe and my initial experience really makes me want to go a second time. Nordstrom is the best department store hands down. Perfect balance of comfortable and high end goods. With the best customer service you've ever experienced and this isn't lost when it comes to their cafe. Short but sweet menu and everything I've had from there was great. Though I travel between Chicago and Detroit I've noticed a difference in menu items. The tomato soup is the best tomato soup I've ever had. They know it's good because they bottle it for you to purchase in store. Their turkey ciabatta with cranberry chutney is fantastic. I also love their Chicken bacon club. I recently tried their pepperoni and mushroom pizza. Perfect! The mushrooms were wild and tasted fresh. The lemon ricotta cookie is a gift from God. Get one! Here's a tip: if you don't have cash make sure you add the amount you'd like to leave before they swipe your card so the cashier can give you that extra money back to leave after your meal. This is my favorite cafe at Westfield mall! Nice atmosphere, fast operation, and friendly server. I had French dip for the first time visiting here. Second time, I ordered shrimp & arugula salad by looking at the review here. They were both great!! I also liked here about the calories displayed on the website menu. It helps me counting it for my diet. Only thing disappointed me was that they didn't have cafe latte although i was able to get a regular coffee. I guess it's because E! My first taste of any Nordstrom Cafe and it was a definite hit. I love the set up, the service was phenomenal, and looking around at the food of other diners, it appeared that everything they serve would be delicious... and this was true. My boyfriend got the turkey sandwich which comes with a delicious side salad... he asked that it be split so I could have some too (there was only one thing on the adult menu that was suitable for a vegetarian and I just wasn't in the mood for it). The plates, even split, were both huge in portion size and looked spectacular. The salad was amazing and their balsamic vinaigrette was good enough to drink with a straw :::cut to me fishing my fork in it and licking it off::: I also saw the table next to us got the salmon which came with some roasted potatoes and asparagus and looked truly 5 star and made me salivate. When we were done eating the receipt came and we got 4 chocolate covered mint sticks that were FABULOUS! My bf ate one and I ate the other 3... and easily could have eaten a thousand more. The experience was delightful and the next time I go to any Nordstrom I'll plan on stopping in for a great treat. read more

Casual serves allows you to place your order at the counter and chose your seat selection, while your food is served on the table. Great selection of sandwiches, pastas, and meat entrees. Staple items I love getting are: The Chicken Cilantro Lime Salad: generous portion of leafy greens, pilled with sliced roasted chicken, pumpkin seeds and appetizing cilantro sauce. Pairs nicely with their warm tomato basil soup and great for option for a healthier alternative. Came here after years of just walking by, I'm sorry I didn't walk in sooner! The menu is very small, doesn't really change (been here about 6 or so times since November) but still is delicious. A nice quiet spot to stop while shopping, especially around the holidays, it's a nice place to recharge the ol' batteries. Love the tomato soup, it's a must try, Nordstrom is famous for it. The veggie sandwich is delicious with grilled veggies such as zucchini, squash, red peppers and onions. Additionally it had basil, cheese and a nice sauce. The salads are delicious too, nice and big. Look at the menu, go to the counter and order what you want, pay and go find yourself a seat and they bring you your food. I ordered the sandwich, soup and salad combo. I got a turkey sandwich, which was a pretty good size, tasted good and fresh and the soup of the day, which was cream of chicken and rice which was also yummy! Salad with a little side salad, I probably could have gone without it, I'm not a big salad person. All that with a drink was about $13. We also left a little tip for the guy who brought us our food and refilled our drinks.
