I took my shirt in for a repair of a metal rivet because he was recommended by my dry cleaner for this particular type of repair. Mark replaced it with a mismatched rivet size and claimed that he fixed it. Not only did it look terrible but after unsnapping the shirt in front of him, the existing part of the rivet that was already part of my shirt fell apart. He still tried to charge me for his shoddy work and when I said I didn't feel comfortable paying for work that was not completed he ripped off the part of the rivet that he stamped into my shirt. I don't think he expected me to check the rivet by unsnapping it because he immediately became defensive and blamed his poor workmanship on my shirt. I hired this guy one time before to do a zipper repair. At face value he is very nice and pleasant. But his business dealings are very dishonest. I will never come back to this place again because Mark is completely untrustworthy. read more

This review is LONG overdue! We've been bringing our high-end shoes to Mark for well over a year now. He's been consistently phenomenal with basic maintenance and sometimes even coming to the rescue in resuscitating life back in to a pair of severely scratched up or warped from rain shoes. my purse was ruined in his shop and he was so mean about it!! i brought a valuable purse in to have the interior zipper fixed and was returned the bag crushed and deformed, having been haphazardly hung in his shop. also the zipper repair was awful and the lining is uneven now. he trashed the purse! he pointed at a tiny sign that says after 30 days, your items are not his problem anymore. this man was unapologetic and downright nasty. I'm a bit old school when it comes to my boots. I prefer to have them fixed then to just get a new pair. However, it's getting very difficult to find a good shoe repair since they seem to be closing down for lack of work. So glad i found this place. Thought I would take my worst conditioned boots to c what he could do. I felt it would b a good test cause i hadn't found anyone to fix them adequately. I am not a gentle person and i treat my boots like everything else. Heel has worn down and chunks were missing from areas of the wood, sole was splitting from body and they had not been polished in years. Even the shoe laces were bad. I wasn't expecting much but when he brought my boots out (2 days later), I feel in love w/ them all over again. They looked new! I couldn't believe it! And it was so inexpensive! I found this place on Yelp after I was told by a shoe salesman that it is cheaper to have shoes resoled than to buy new ones. She was like, "you can shoes resoled for about $15 a pair." I took in a pair of shoes (cost $59.99) to see what the cost would be to have the pair resoled. The case was $59.00. But here's the thing...if the new soles last 3 times as long as the ones that were on there (because they are much thicker), then it does actually save me money in the long run. But only time will tell whether that assertion is true...at which point I will post an update. The dude who runs the place did a great job and the shoes look brand new. He does try to up sell you on stuff, so be prepared to say what you want and hold your ground. A guy in line before me wanted his shoes shined, but the owner kept trying to get him to buy new heels as well. Shining is $6, while heels would have been another $20. All in all, the guy does great work and provided his promise on longevity holds true, I'll go to him in the future. read more

I went yesterday to pick up 3 purses I left to be cleaned or repaired. A Marc Jacobs, a YSL and a B Makowsky. I needed a rivet replaced on the YSL and the other two cleaned. He told me he could not just clean the MJ or the BM, but that he would have to dye them. He gave me my ticket for pick up and I returned yesterday to pick up my beautiful clean bags only to find he had done such a POOR JOB and had PAINTED them both with ACRYLIC PAINT!!! I know this because he showed me the bottle of paint. Not I have two of the ugliest purses ever. They are all sticky and completely the wrong colors and feel like plastic now. I urge you to use your best judgement on letting him "FIX" anything. read more

Ordered chaos... Well one might be overwhelmed and perhaps a bit skeptical of this place upon first visiting, you won't be disappointed by the service or pricing. I've tend to walk hard on my heels and am constantly breaking the tips off of them, but thanks to Mark I've been able to salvage many pairs of shoes and ultimately save money by re-tipping or re-soling my shoes. But I saw great reviews about Mark's Shoe repair so I went there. It was late on a Fri night & he was still working hard. He checked it out & said he could fix the shoe. When I picked them up he said to go easy on them & that it wasn't easy to fix. Needless to say, I went trompsing all over Hollywood that night, dancing like crazy on them & staying out til the wee hours. Quaint shop in studio city! Have taken many shoes for repair or cleaning. Most recently took my expensive suede common project Chelsea boots to get cleaned. Prior to leaving them with Mark they looked as if they got ran over by a semi. Unfortunately, experienced the worst show repair, given the circumstance that it wasn't my first time repairing my shoes there. Came in a week later to pick up my 2 pairs(one were boots in which the locker needed to be replaced, the other was the shoe in which he needed to glue in an accessory) not only neither of those were done, he went ahead and accused me that I didn't ask for the right way to fix the locker. I was looking all over the Valley to find someone who could sew the patches on my leather motorcycle jacket. Marks was recommended and he really performed! Some of the patches were pretty large and detailed and some were on pockets. He proudly showed me the special sewing machine that he used to sew on pockets. Mark does a great repair. He did a beautiful job on my boots. I'm a heel walker, and I ground down the heels of my favorite boots to the point where they looked like ramps. Not wanting to be a slope slut, I took my boots in to Mark, and boom. Beautiful new heels like a mofo. I also took him a pair of my sandals that I broke while I was walking down the street. I hit a busted curb, and tore my shoe up. Dammit. .. couldn't believe it. Got embarrassed while walking home too, because the bottom part of the sandal was no longer connected to the toe attachment. Soooo it flippity flopped like the sad bargain brand it was, all the way to my apt. Stupid curb. Anyway, I took both pairs in on Monday and was told to return Thursday.
