    Braised Pork Pizza
    Mike N.

Makawao, HI. I really liked this restaurant . We were seated without a reservation and the place was very busy. All the staff ladies were exceptionally friendly and helpful. This was about 6:00 pm for dinner. The vibe is casual but trendy. A buzz of activity was going on. Everything we tried was just bursting with flavors! We started out with the meatballs which were as good as grandma's, who made the best, of course. I would categorize them as "Memorable Meatballs". The sauce that came with them (2 of them) was perfect in every way. The chopped salad was large enough for three people and was fresh and delicious. The dressing was a great complimentary addition to the greens. The braised pork pizza was over the top good. Just the right amount of char on a sourdough crust and a sauce that was just full of flavor. The Lilikoi butter provided a bright spot on the tomato palate. This I believe, helps make this pizza unique. The prawns were large and you get six. They tasted great , soaked in chimichurri . They would be perfect with just a little less salt and a bit more garlic. Mushrooms in crème fraiche, just outstanding. Note that the emphasis is on the sauce, not the mushrooms. For dessert was the gelato with fennel pollen, honey, olive oil, and sea salt. This is an absolute must to try, it's divine. The Panna cotta is rich and silky, nicely done. There is a decorative crumble on top that adds a little crunch and gives the dish a good presentation. There are some sweet floral notes in the custard, most likely cardamom. The ginger fizz drink is very good with a nice ginger kick without tasting like ginger ale. A well constructed mocktail. The vibe in the morning is about a 180 degree turn about. There is no table service, not busy enough. Order at the counter. The cheerful night time ladies have been replaced by a solitary glum teen who is not happy and maybe don't even like the people she has to deal with in the morning. She is efficient though. Nevertheless, the quiche was great. Great flavor, great crust, interesting top glaze that was different from any I've seen. The latte featured the same topping of fennel pollen, etc. that was on the gelato last night. Pretty amazing version of a latte. My suggestion, to make it perfect, is to order it with an extra shot in a large ceramic cup. The bathroom here is clean and I never encountered a line.

Good Food from salads, starters, to artisan style, neapolitan sourdough pizza. Everything is delicious! They have a daily specials menu to choose from as well as their regular menu. Service is always friendly upon arrival and they are helpful throughout your dining. Ambiance is casual. Great place to have small special family events or group party celebrations. Recommend if in Upcountry Maui and looking for an Italian restaurant. Reservations available on line.

Super chill lunch spot after our bike ride through Makawao and Paia. The pizza was honestly some of the best I had, the dough was so good. Cocktails were so fresh, and service was also great. Totally recommend if you're in the area.

Meatballs were amazing. The bolognese was so salty we couldn't eat it. The pizza was good. Wasn't worth the hype for me.

I love marlow. Have never had a bad experience here. This time we put stopped after the farmers market for lunch. We're seated quickly right around the time their dining room opened (11a). Their chopped salad is good, their potato pizza is good, and their veg of the day was DELICIOUS! Beware, the jalapeño romesco is quite spicy but it's so delicious.

    Fungi pizza.

I was on Maui to help out at a big Yelp Elite Event, and many MANY local Yelpers told me I must take the journey to the Upcountry and order a pizza from Marlow. So, of course, I obliged! But first, I stopped at Mahalo Aleworks next door, as I wasn't quite ready for lunch yet. I was excited to find out that I could order a pizza to go from Marlow and eat it at the brewery. It was hard to decide what to get, but it looked like their Fungi Pizza was a popular choice so I grabbed one and waited while I finished my beer. It took awhile, but was well worth the wait. The pizza was phenomenal. Hot, cheesy, and covered in tender mushrooms. It needed nothing, as it was the perfect slice on its own. My only regret is that they don't make a "small" size as this pie was HUGE and could have fed an army. I was only inside actual Marlow for a few minutes while I picked up my pizza, but I loved its quaint, rustic vibe. It was full of people and there was a waitlist - if you go in person, I recommend getting there early (or enjoying it from next door as I did). They also have some tasty-sounding non-pizza options. I'm still regretting not trying the meatballs!

Food SO good. Drinks BOMB. Get any special they have going on. Ask for a side of bread to dip in all the sauces from the appetizers.

The portions are HUGE, especially for the price, and the food is absolutely delicious. Everything we ordered came out fresh, flavorful, and you can tell they don't hold back on the portions. You definitely get your money's worth here, and honestly, you might even be leaving with leftovers. What I also really love is that it doesn't feel like they're trying too hard to be fancy. It's just really good food, generous portions, and a comfortable atmosphere. The kind of place where you can actually relax, enjoy your meal, and leave satisfied. The service was also friendly and welcoming, which makes such a difference. You don't feel rushed and you actually feel like they appreciate you being there. And don't skip the desserts! Their dessert case alone will have you trying to figure out what you can possibly fit after eating such a big meal. Kula Bistro is absolutely worth the drive upcountry. Great food, huge portions, good value, and a welcoming atmosphere. This is the kind of restaurant I'm happy to recommend to both locals and visitors. Simply put, come hungry! HIGHLY recommend Kula Bistro. We will definitely be back!

The owner was our waitress who was personable, gave great suggestions and made our visit very enjoyable. We all loved our meals! The focaccia bread on the sandwiches was SO delicious and the bread is made onsite. All the ingredients were very fresh and the salads were really tasty too. The portions are very generous. We look forward to visiting this wonderful restaurant when in the area in the future.

You can see by the occupied tables that is not a place you come just one time. The menu had lots of choices, but we were recommended to try the roast pork and hamburger steak...so we did The roast pork was so tender and had a great flavor worth trying. The hamburger steak came with two tasty homemade Pattie's and gravy. Very tender and you could tell the patties were not prepackaged...homemade. Both plates came with one scoop rice and Mac salad that I loved, not just the flavor, but it included a dash of tuna, onions, chopped celery. So ono! Everything pulled together with the brown gravy. I saw a lot of people taking food to go and they package the food with care (mine had foil so it wouldn't soak through the container). Comfort food indeed. The rice with gravy and chicken hit the spot. I think it'd be really good as a bowl so you could mix it all together. The Mac salad was pretty good too. It was too much food for one person though- not a bad thing but as a tourist I dont have anywhere to keep the leftovers. Husband had the surf and turf sandwich with Siracha and thoroughly enjoyed every bite.

They are of the same company as Gather down in Wailea, and the menu reflects that. It is a high-end ingredient and creation experience. So far, we have had the curry, Mac nut mahi, fried chicken sandwich, fried noodle dish, and wonton appetizer...everything has been top-notch. We did try the crab pizza which seemed like an aberration to everything else. Definitely do not order that. Cocktails were pretty great too. Service is solid. If I had to nitpick, you are paying high dollars but the ambience is not quite the same as a four-star hotel or Gather. I mean, it is a general store...so there is a slight value to price mismatch. The setting and ambience is very inexpensive, but everything else is expensive, but the dishes deliver. All in all, this is a place that deserves repeat visits. Each time we try something different, it is fantastic. Next time, I can't wait to try the lobster cream pasta. Just like Gather, the menu is not huge. Once you go a few times, you have the gist of what it's about. If you're a foodie, you're looking to move onto other experiences versus to keep going to the same place.
