    25% off for Happy Hour

We went on a hike at Hosmer's Grove and decided to stop in for happy hour. For drinks my husband ordered a beer and I ordered the margarita. For nibbles we ordered the Maui Mezze and the Kauai Prawns. The mezze was very good but the prawns were not so good. First of all one the prawns was not cleaned well and the sauce was not to our liking. The service was great except the person that brought out our mezze brought it to the wrong table and left so quickly that the couple sitting at the table didn't get a chance to say anything. After a few minutes our server noticed that the mistake was made and brought it to our table.

Love this place! Must go when in Maui. The drive is beautiful to this Upcountry Kula restaurant. We sat outdoors. The ambiance is perfect with nice views and garden paths you can take a little stroll. There are water fountains which adds to the relaxing feel. We felt like we were on vacation. Service was friendly upon arrival. Our waitress was also helpful and happy. The food was delicious! We had the Hawaiian Omelette which was filling for the 2 of us. Also ordered the Oatmeal Brûlée. Y-u-m! We will definitely be back! It's our new favorite brunch spot!! Looking forward to trying their pizza next time. It smelled so good cooking from the outdoor oven! They do offer Kama'aina for the local residents which was a nice surprise. If you sit outdoors just look out for the birds! They so like to grab a bite if they can. There is indoor seating with beautiful views if you prefer.

We came for a special breakfast and a view. We were so glad to be here. They offer military discount on Tuesday and Wednesday and Resident discount with a Hawaii License. The Garden below is like a private home with curving paths and small fountains. Special to come here every time.

Everyone was super friendly but I mean, we are in Maui! The Brussels sprouts were so delicious and crispy. My eggs Benedict was tasty and filling. Perfect for after watching the Sunrise.

Sitting at the window is an incredible experience. As an architect I just find this building to be so beautiful with so much soul. The shakshuka was a little underwhelming and the burger was average but I really really enjoyed the pizza and the spicy Bloody Mary! And you can't beat that view! The waitstaff was so polite and attentive as well. My parents sent back their ice tea to swap for water because they thought it tasted bad (comes out of a gun they said so the pipes probably need cleaning) and she was incredibly understanding and a true gem. Can't wait for an excuse to come back! I only wish happy hour menu could sit at the window!

The service, food, and view here were all great. Prices reflect the quality and location, but still felt reasonable overall. We enjoyed everything we ordered except the ceviche -- the dressing just wasn't to our taste. That said, it's a lovely spot for a relaxing lunch, especially after coming down from the summit.

The view was great but the price is a little bit expensive. We came here after sunrise since many people from travel blog recommended this place. The service was great and we enjoyed the food!

A hidden treasure amongst the slopes of Haleakala. This historical property hosts one of the best meals on Maui! Incredible view, atmosphere, people and dining experience. A flora of specialty drinks and vegan options avaliable. After experiencing sunrise at Haleakala, stop at Kula Lodge and warm up at their lodge while enjoying a fulfilling breakfast. Afternoon and evening, enjoy their garden terrace with sloping views of Maalea.

Decent breakfast spot after Haleakala. They had limited options when we went due to some water restrictions but a good place overall. Great service and they had live music when we went. Nice views from their indoor seating. Note that they will have bottled water and paper plates and utensils due to the water shortage. Note that not all menu options may be available so they will have a limited menu and are doing the best they can. Be kind to staff and Come support a local business!

The food is always amazing and I love stopping in when I'm home visiting. The service is always full of aloha with amazing views and grounded ambiance. The drive up is always peaceful and the selections are always great. Please stop in and visit when you have a chance. This is one of my many favorites of Maui.

On vacation on Maui for a few days and we were mostly hitting the grocery stores for snacks throughout our stay, but had planned one restaurant day for my friend's birthday dinner. We had 2 vegetarians and a vegan in our party of 5 so it was great to see there were some options on the menu! The lodge itself was cute, quaint, and offered amazing views. There is no air conditioning (only negative for the review--most people are used to that in restaurants, so it was a little warm), but it's high enough in elevation that there was a nice breeze when they opened the doors. If you're used to AC in restaurants, you can ask for a fan (limited availability) and plan to dress lighter. Our waiter (Taylor) was very high energy and took time to find out answers to our questions about different menu items. He was attentive but not overbearingly so, and was very kind to my teenager as well! We ordered the vegan cheese plate and bread for the table. Our omnivores ordered a seared tuna dish and the daily special (another fish dish) and reported that they were excellent. The vegetarians ordered the cauliflower piccata that was so good, the ends were crispy and the sauce was creamy and delicious. Our vegan ordered the vegan burger and was happy with the texture and flavor. We all helped with the plate of fries! They also had live music, a violinist was performing the whole time we were there, and was quite talented. Take a walk through the gardens while you visit!

    Great views!

This visit felt really different. Today we brought family visiting from off-island after a walk on Thompson Road. We decided to stay and dine in instead of taking it to go. Looking back... maybe takeout would've been the better option. Ugh. I honestly hate writing this. The only reason I am is because I'm hoping someone from the Grandmas team reads this and actually cares enough to make some changes. If you don't know, you can't grow. Today our experience looked like this: * Watching several people get served after us even though we ordered first. Waiting for almost 30 minutes. * Our order getting mixed up and handed to the wrong person * Confusion about what muffins were available... okay fine, I'll take a blueberry muffin. Then halfway through eating it, I found a hair baked into it * Ordering potatoes without onions because of an allergy, having it made wrong twice, and needing it redone * Noticing the restaurant itself looked like it could use a deep cleaning, including ceiling fans with layers of dust And maybe this was just an off day, but the staff vibe felt... off too. Disconnected. Kind of cliquey. Like everyone seemed more interested in talking amongst themselves than serving guests. The warm, welcoming feeling Grandmas always had just didn't feel like it was there today. As a customer, I honestly felt like I was intruding or inconveniencing the staff just by being there, and that's a really strange feeling in a place we've loved for so long. That's honestly the part that made me the most disappointed. We've loved Grandmas for years, which is why this was tough. After reading several other reviews, it seems others may have had similar experiences too. I really hope things improve and staff morale lifts, because as customers, we feel it. Mahalo for reading. I truly hope this helps and leads to positive changes.

It's cool up there, and it adds to the cozy, Upcountry vibe. Marlow is a lively spot with an open kitchen that makes the whole experience feel energetic and welcoming. Definitely make a reservation. We ran into a delay getting up the hill due to a downed utility pole and messaged through the OpenTable app. Eden, who was hosting that night (and we later learned also serves), immediately called us, walked us through the menu, and even got our order started so we wouldn't hold up service. She was incredibly knowledgeable and set the tone for the evening with genuine hospitality. At the bar, Jesse, our bartender, took great care of us. From the drink menu, he made an excellent Black Cherry Manhattan with Burning Chair bourbon, Cocchi di Torino, cherry, and Angostura bitters--smooth, balanced, and delivered tableside. We also enjoyed a bottle of Gamay wine, which paired beautifully with the food and rounded out the meal. For dinner: * Mafaldine Bolognese (Lopes Farm beef, gremolata, parm - dinner only) was rich and comforting. My wife loved it. * Steak Tagliata (horseradish crème fraîche, herb verde - dinner only) was cooked perfectly and full of flavor--my dad cleaned his plate. * I had the Funghi white pie with local mushrooms, mozzarella, garlic confit, and parmigiano, and it was outstanding--earthy, balanced, and satisfying. Dessert capped things off nicely, and by the end of the night we were happily full. A special shoutout to Kira, our server--kind, fun, and professional. It was neat finding out she's also a Maui High grad, from a different generation, but with that same local pride and warmth that makes dining in Hawaiʻi special. Big mahalo to the kitchen crew--you can feel the care and teamwork in every dish. Payment was easy using Toast, which we appreciated. All around, Marlow delivers thoughtful food, great cocktails, and genuine hospitality. It's wonderful to have a fun, lively, open-kitchen restaurant in Upcountry Maui. We'll absolutely be back.

Makawao, HI. I really liked this restaurant . We were…read moreseated without a reservation and the place was very busy. All the staff ladies were exceptionally friendly and helpful. This was about 6:00 pm for dinner. The vibe is casual but trendy. A buzz of activity was going on. Everything we tried was just bursting with flavors! We started out with the meatballs which were as good as grandma's, who made the best, of course. I would categorize them as "Memorable Meatballs". The sauce that came with them (2 of them) was perfect in every way. The chopped salad was large enough for three people and was fresh and delicious. The dressing was a great complimentary addition to the greens. The braised pork pizza was over the top good. Just the right amount of char on a sourdough crust and a sauce that was just full of flavor. The Lilikoi butter provided a bright spot on the tomato palate. This I believe, helps make this pizza unique. The prawns were large and you get six. They tasted great , soaked in chimichurri . They would be perfect with just a little less salt and a bit more garlic. Mushrooms in crème fraiche, just outstanding. Note that the emphasis is on the sauce, not the mushrooms. For dessert was the gelato with fennel pollen, honey, olive oil, and sea salt. This is an absolute must to try, it's divine. The Panna cotta is rich and silky, nicely done. There is a decorative crumble on top that adds a little crunch and gives the dish a good presentation. There are some sweet floral notes in the custard, most likely cardamom. The ginger fizz drink is very good with a nice ginger kick without tasting like ginger ale. A well constructed mocktail. The vibe in the morning is about a 180 degree turn about. There is no table service, not busy enough. Order at the counter. The cheerful night time ladies have been replaced by a solitary glum teen who is not happy and maybe don't even like the people she has to deal with in the morning. She is efficient though. Nevertheless, the quiche was great. Great flavor, great crust, interesting top glaze that was different from any I've seen. The latte featured the same topping of fennel pollen, etc. that was on the gelato last night. Pretty amazing version of a latte. My suggestion, to make it perfect, is to order it with an extra shot in a large ceramic cup. The bathroom here is clean and I never encountered a line.

I took my parents for their 44th Anniversary and we all love outdoorsy activities so I knew we'd all enjoy this! We were asked to arrive at 10:30 am for the tour and it lasted until 1-1:30 pm. Arrive with good walking shoes, SPF, light sweater and hat (it can get either a little chilly or hot from the direct sunlight), and well hydrated if possible. We were greeted by our friendly and knowledgeable tourguide, Kate from Maryland! She shared with us so many facts about the locally grown produce from herbs, vegetables, fruits, to the friendly worms, to compost and facts about the Farm and the hardworking staff! It was interactive because we got to sniff the herbs, taste the locally grown lettuce, carry a chicken (as seen in the photo with my mom), and even pick the Cherry coffee! After the 2 hour tour, the last hour takes you back to this beautiful seating area in a garden like setting for your 4 course lunch! Each course, the chef comes out and shares details of each course. First course was a Medley of Greens grown on the farm with Tangerine vinaigrette. It was a generous portion for our party of 3 and tried to eat it throughout. There was spiraled carrots and radish with julienned snap peas. Second course was Pan Seared Ono (their proteins are all locally sourced) with Mamaki Tea and Lemongrass Rice with Bok Choy, Collared Greens and Cabbage. Third course was my favorite! I'm usually a big fan of fish but the chicken was so savory and that rub was delish! It was an Organic, Cage Free Chicken with Coffee Cherry Citrus rub with Caramelized Coffee Honey Hash of Carrots, Parsnips, Rutabaga and Celery Root. The spread was a Turmeric and Parsnip puree.
