Don't take your vehicle to Marlow for inspection or service. The falsely failed my less than 2 year old wrangler saying it had excessively rusted rotors. Rotors rust, they are bare metal and where the pads don't touch there will be rust. This wrangler was purchased new new the spring of 2025. If rotors put so badly in Virginia weather that they will not pass inspection then it's a part material defect, covered under warranty. Marlow Motor Company is a dirty dealer who tried to get me to pay them to put new rotors on when they are not needed. The Virginia state police will be notified once it is in a different shop for inspection and Marlow motors will hopefully have their license to do inspections revoked. Avoid this dealer and service department, they are crooked!!! effective operation, fluid leaks, visible damage, excessive wear, and obvious defects in components. Surface rust: Light, even surface rust on rotors (common after sitting) that does not affect pad contact or braking performance is routinely tolerated. Rotors often clean up after a few brake applications. Failure conditions: Inspection failure is likely when rust results in any of the following: Deep pitting, grooving, or severe corrosion that compromises rotor thickness or structural integrity. Flaking or spalling metal creating uneven braking, severe pulsation, or loss of braking efficiency. Rusted-through rotors or broken/cracked rotor material. Any condition that produces clearly reduced stopping ability or potential for sudden brake failure. Observable signs inspectors will act on: Thin or uneven brake pads due to rotor damage. Severe rust visible through wheel openings, with loose or detached fragments. Loud grinding, severe pulsation, or inability to actuate the brakes during an operational check. Practical outcomes: Minor surface rust -- pass. Significant corrosion visible during the inspection or causing poor braking -- fail; inspector will issue a rejection specifying the defect. Repair options: resurfacing (if within service limits), rotor replacement, pad replacement, and addressing seized calipers or rusted mounting hardware. read more

I purchased a Certified Used 2016 Ram 1500 pickup from Marlow Motor Company on March 16, 2024. The vehicle was purchased at 80,000 miles. Since that time I have had two service appointments at Marlow Motors with oil changes, tire rotations, and inspections. I have had the battery replaced, replaced the serpentine belt, replaced the CPCH and valve-purge control, and spent $970.50 in parts and labor along the way. Then, on March 3, 2025, after just over 10,000 driving miles in the first year, I was due for inspection. I confidently returned to Marlowe for the inspection thinking that since the purchase of a Certified Used Vehicle, regularity of service and inspections, and just over 10,000 miles of usage in the first year, I would pay my $20 for a successful inspection and be on my way. Some time later while in the waiting room, I received a text telling me that my vehicle had failed inspection and that there were 5 items that "required immediate attention" to the tune of $1683.58. Fourth on the list of these items was "Replace Rear Brake Pads and Resurface Rotos." A service representative soon joined me in the waiting room to further explain that it was the brakes that had failed inspection. The first three items on the "requires immediate attention" list included brake fluid exchange service and four-wheel alignment, and differential service. The fifth item was "replacing cabin air filter" which I was pretty sure did not "require immediate attention" in relation to a state inspection. I asked the service representative what it meant to purchase a Certified Used Vehicle and he mumbled that everything is in working order and safe. When I queried how the brakes of a Certified Used Vehicle could be deemed unsafe with only 10,000 miles of usage, I was told that the inspector did not look at my purchase and service history. I told him that I had lost trust and confidence in Marlowe Motors as my service shop and how disappointed I was in that I was planning to continue my service with them for the vehicle, but now simply wanted my vehicle returned. They had lost me as a customer. For the cost of $22.87 and a failed inspection sticker in my windshield, I went to another local state inspector, paid my $20 and passed inspection. I called service at 9:30 PM last night because we were on our way home from vacation and our Jeep wouldn't start. Said auto start control was disabled. We were in Woodstock, VA, Jeep wave and Marlow would not help us at all. They left myself being 5 months pregnant, my 13 month old, my 13 year old and husband stranded in an area that doesn't have anyone available to provide emergency services. I bought my car here over 2.5 years ago. At that point I had trouble, come to find out recently that the Salesperson I was working with switched to a competitor. Around the 2 year mark, I started having major issues with the vehicle. I have brought it back and had it in the shop 4 times (about to be a 5th) for the same issue. They keep saying it is fixed. After the most recent issue, I went into the sales department to see if they could do something and they said they would do it no worries. Well, their process is a mess and I never went through the pricing breakdown. Come to find out they didn't do what they said they were going to. The sales manager shrugged and said o well, the general manager basically told me to screw off and his sales manager did everything he could, and I even reached out to the owner and have not heard back at this time. They play like they are a family, honest dealership but they are even more shifty than most dealerships. Use caution when going here. read more

My partner and I went to look at a Jeep renegade there and after settling in a price some things went very wrong. 1) they tried to tell us the floor mats were not included on the price as later tried to use them as a bargaining chip. Come to find out after going to different dealership and buying another trailhawk, all trailhawks come with floormats, they lied. Upon final pickup (mind you it was on their lot for a few weeks while thy prepped it) of the truck the chips in the hood they agreed to repair were done with a different color touch up paint, there was now a dent above the back door handle, and someone hit the car and they tried to buff it out to hide it!!! The car haven't been cleaned well and the back trunk cover they agreed to install as installed poorly and falling off. They were going to let us drive off the lot with a car that had been hit on their lot after we agreed to purchase!!! Can't you believe it?!? The buff job/coverup job of the area that was hot was amateur at best. Furthermore after getting frustrated they agreed to give whatever accessories we wanted with the Jeep and paint/fix all the issues. They also said they owed us oil changes as a "sorry". Mind you this was a Jeep with ~80 miles on it! We already felt like we were getting a used car. When agreeing and deciding to request some extra accessories and lifetime oil changes they reneged and stuck to their inclusion of floor mats as an acceptable offer due to all our unhappy experience- floormats which should have been included anyway. They are not honest straight and simple. They will get away with what they can, obviously. We went to a different dealership bought another trailhawk and couldn't be happier with the results, no hastle at all. We tell all our friends and coworkers to avoid this car lot. I stopped by to test drive a Durango as I was almost positive that was the vehicle I wanted to purchase. I already test drove 4 different cars. We were greeted by gentleman that told me no less than 7 times (in the 30 minutes we were there) that "these are expensive" I was put off the first time he said it and he just kept repeating himself. I knew he didn't take us seriously when the test drive was over he never even asked to get our info or run numbers. Thank you very much sir. I gladly spent way more on my Tahoe. First, let me say that the service department is top notch. They have very workable with hours, and the dealership rents cars. Whenever I have needed a car to rent, they get me one within a few days. Because I like them so much, I have been trying to buy a car there, but the prices are always above what they should be, but I keep trying. One sales man said we are "cyclones," but that's not fair. We want to buy a car there. I have had 11 cars in the last few years, so it's not me that can't buy a car, it's their prices, and unwillingness to budge. Today, my son found a car that we really felt like we could buy. It is $2500 above, according to Car Gurus, but the sales person was so disrespectful and scary that I don't think we will try again. He said we were trying to pull something, yelled at us, and said to not rely on "third party sites that could be run by the Afghanees." I don't want to ruin the relationship I have with that dealership, and I value that more than I can express; however, the person at the sales desk insisted we work with this sales person, and he is the worst one, one I on purpose avoid when I can. Nice guy, but not nice at the same time. I can't go into why he is back and forth between nice and moody, but I know he can't help it, and he doesn't even really seem to know he is doing that, in my opinion; however, he said we were there today "ruin" his day, threatened to punch my son in the head several times, then said he was kidding about the ruining his day comment, but it didn't sound Ike kidding. He never said he was kidding about punching my son in the head. He raised his voice at us, drew pictures that he said were Ike kindergarten drawings so we would understand. Treating customers like that is not going to encourage a sale. I do spend a lot there, just haven't purchased a car there yet, and like I said, I have been trying. I'm so upset about today, as it was unnecessary. I did call and asked someone there if I had to work with him. I didn't tell her who I was, and asked she not pass it on, as I didn't not want him fired, but I also don't want to work with him. She said I could request someone else, but then I feel he will find out and it may hurt his feelings, or destroy my relationship with the dealership, and I don't think he realizes how he comes across. He was angry, then nice, then obnoxious. Kept making faces of disgust at us. I was almost afraid, but I tried to be understanding as well, but I didn't like how we were treated. He acted like I wasted his time, and we really wanted to buy from them, and have wanted to for awhile. It's not us, it's them. Sometimes the cars even have accidents on the car fax, and we are told it's no big deal, but it is to us. If the sales department were as wonderful as the service department, and the department that handles reservations and payments, they would be the dealership in my eyes. I think we may travel to get a car, as the prices are better everywhere else, in my opinion. We see cars online with better prices, less miles, and newer models of the car with are interested in. It's a shame. I wanted my next car to be from them, despite what the sales person thinks. There is nothing like being able to buy locally. My son thinks it's a safety issue to ever go back to the sales department, but I don't think management would allow harm to customers, but I won't work with that particular sales person again. read more

I called Marlow yesterday and was put forward to a gentleman's voicemail. No big deal, it was the end of the day. I called back this morning and the woman who answered the phone said it was a woman I needed to speak with. She said "oh she's not in right now I will send you to voicemail." I then heard her attempt to cover the phone and say to this woman "hey don't answer your phone." So I hang up and call back and ask to speak with a supervisor. "He's in a meeting, I can put you through to the service supervisor if that helps you." Sure. Straight to voicemail. Whatever you do, go to another dealership. To begin with I cannot attest to Marlow's sales department as I've never engaged them for a vehicle purchase. However, I must seriously question the performance of its service department. I recently brought my Jeep into Marlow Motor Company initially for a factory recall. Moreover, since the vehicle required an up to date state inspection, I requested that this also be done. The service department further convinced me to have a differential service performed due to the vehicle's current mileage. Cost: ($400). In the end the experience was less than satisfactory to say the least. Marlow did provide a loaner vehicle for which I was most appreciative. However, after several hours I contacted the service department for a status update. I was informed that the factory recall, differential servicing and an oil change had been completed but that the vehicle inspection was being conducted at that moment. Soon after a service technician explained to me that the vehicle had failed the inspection due to its oversized wheels exceeding the distance of the fender flares. I questioned this as the previous inspection was conducted by the dealership in which I purchased the vehicle. No alterations have been done to the vehicle since its purchase. Why did it pass then? No satisfactory explanation was provided on why two dealerships would have different interpretations on Virginia's inspection policies and guidelines, i.e., wheel sizes and fender flares dimensions. Having said this my biggest angst was why the inspection wasn't performed first rather than last? With the vehicle failing, common sense and courtesy would dictate that the service department would have informed me of the situation and whether they should proceed with the differential service and oil change. In this case the answer would have been a resounding NO and I would have saved several hundred dollars. The vehicle is now "deadline" in my garage until next spring or summer. Again, I cannot speak about the quality and performance of Marlow's sales department. However, for those looking to have their vehicles serviced for maintenance my recommendation would be to look elsewhere. read more

She apologized for not being able to return my call sooner and then very politely listened to my problem. After which she stated that she needed to research the issue and would call back or have Ed Sullivan call me. Within just a little while Mr Sullivan called. YMMV - Your mileage may vary. 2004 Jeep Liberty - Two problems that were encountered that showed extremely poor "trouble shooting" on their mechanics part, back in 2004. First, from day one taking it off the lot, the Tire Pressure Sensing system didn't work properly. Four trips later, it was still not working, before I took it in the fifth time, I kept detailed notes while driving, would tick-mark on paper which wheel showed "-" as in not present ... and which showed a pressure. After a week of doing this I took the information in spreadsheet form, mileages, which tires showed pressure, which didn't ... and as it turned out, which was my suspicion .. the issue hadn't been two faulty computers (850 a pop on chrysler's dime) nor the part of the unit that "read" the wheels, but in fact had been the sending units (?) inside each wheel. This was determined, because in my notes, the right rear tire *always* responded as there, and with pressure while the other three "disappeared". Marlow's tech's finally *rotated* the tires ... and no matter what position the right wheel was rotated to, it would always show up at that new wheel location. This is something I had asked them to try first off when bringing it in the second time ... but it wasn't until the fifth trip in ... where I had meticulously documented the problem for them (a problem they *could* have seen if they also had taken it out on the highway at highway speeds as I had instructed them) and so after the fifth trip it was FINALLY fixed by replacing the "cheap" 20 dollar sending units in each wheel. That was my first warning that their service dept was stocked with non-troubleshooting techs. The second came in mid to late 2004 just after a hurricane passed through. I wake up after the storm to find my battery dead. Free tow to the shop, "oh your battery must have had a bad cell" new battery, pick up ... and the very next day after getting it back .. the new battery was dead. Jeep goes in again ... they replaced the battery a second time ... the next day it wouldn't start for them! .. THIRD battery goes in.. ONLY THEN does it seem they checked and found there was a sufficient current draw on the battery .. day three .. they haven't figured it out .. day four .. I'm calling in.. they still can't find the problem .. day 5 I'm calling them again.. and I'm told they just couldn't find the problem. It was on day Five I then asked the service manager ... well did they try pulling all the fuses? because if they did that and they stopped seeing a current draw.. then they would know the problem is in a *fused* circuit ... they could put the fuses in one by one and *FIND* the circuit that's drawing the current.. 2 hours later .. the manager calls me back.. they found the problem.. it was in the ABS Braking system ... its module had an improperly installed rubber gasket .. and it had a gaping opening where water from the storm had come down upon it, and soaked, corroded, and destroyed the module. Replacing that, and putting the forth battery in (since it destroyed the other three with deep rapid discharge) and the jeep was up and running again. This was in 2004 .. they've had a lot of changes since then .. I still don't have much confidence in them .. but they are what I have available. I didn't bring any of my other vehicles too them that often, especially given that they charge exorbitantly for their oil changes.. and once the warranty was gone on the jeep I never brought it back into them for service, instead taking it to a *Great* Local Mechanic. I guess the end result .. I would only take my vehicles to them if they were under a warranty repair .. or if I'd shopped around and found them to be the cheapest (they were so, for the timing belt on my 2000 neon.. and that they performed service on without issue). read more

We were told to take our current car and let it be reposed. They did not want it for a trade in and we only owed $3200.00 left on loan but could not afford two car payments. The Finance manager was rude and didn't want to listen. I suggest using the current banking institute that we are currently using and the finance manager shrug it off and simply said you don't want to use them again. Yet the monthly payment they came back with using who ever they chose was way to much. We left there feeling they were looking more for there own gain and not trying to help us into a car. read more

I signed up for Yelp to write this. That's how much I think people need to avoid Marlow Motors. My car began to squeak from one of the wheels. I took it in to Marlow and they told me I needed a brake job. I was charge around $500 for the brake job. As I was driving it off the lot, the squeaking returned, just as loud as before. I didn't have time to take it back in just then, so I returned a few days later. I asked why they hadn't actually resolved the issue. They said that since I hadn't immediately returned upon realizing they had failed, I could not have a refund. They did offer however, to fix the issue at a reduced rate. I should have sensed danger when they refused to take ownership of their mistake, but I wanted it fixed, so I agreed. They called me and informed me that what was needed was a full replacement of the brakes in the rear, but that they would do it for half price as promised. This ended up being another $400. The problem remained. I asked for a manager and he told me the same story; "You got a brake job, so you're paying for a brake job." despited the fact that I went in for a squeak and had perfectly good brakes. At that point I left, disgusted. Avoid at all costs, unless you are a masochist. read more

Got the run around for 3 days. Finally we agreed on price. They attempted to run my debit card without showing me the invoice. After reviewing invoice they included the $399 processing fee we agreed would be waived. I asked why this was included after we agreed it would NOT be included and they started talking in circles. Obviously they tried to slip this in without me noticing. Extremely deceiving. I asked for all paperwork back that had my name on it and walked out without looking back. Be very careful!! read more

The service department is pathetic. They say and do two different things. They promised to diagnose the problem and return the vehicle without issue. Supposedly they diagnosed a blown head gasket without performing and diagnostics. Their recommendation was to replace the engine, in the process they failed to find the source of the problem, a failing water pump, and created at least two more problems, 4 wheel drive not engaging and the vehicle lurching as it down shifted so hard that it rattled your teeth. They refused to admit that either was their fault and said that the 4x4 was not ever touched as part of the work they had performed, and offered to fix it for $400+, when in fact it was touched (disconnected) by their technician and he FAILED to reconnect a plug; their solution being to replace the actuator. The lurching was because they failed to reset computer that regulates the air/fuel mixture. Furthermore, they were condescending and arrogant when discussing the issues. I will NEVER go to service department or sales room again. I feel so strongly that I will recommend that my friends and relatives and customers never patronize the establishment and tell all their friends and relatives to do likewise! read more

Marlow Motors sold my daughters boyfriend a used Cadillac: The third time he drove it the car went into limp home mode. After being looked at by the fleet mechanic at my job it turns out the fuel pump was shot. The part alone is $370 and it takes almost a day of labor to install it. After speaking with Greg Stedman, service manager, Marlow Motors agreed to pay $250 towards the part but insisted they did nothing wrong. After we spoke to the bank financing the car they called Marlow Motors and said they wouldn't finance the car if we weren't happy with the deal so they agreed to pay the full $370 cost of the part. When our personal mechanic put the new pump in he determined that it failed because the fuel regulator was defective. That is another $300 part plus a half days labor to install. Marlow Motors basically told us to get bent. I have spoken to the mechanic who did the work and the fleet mechanic who first looked at. After reviewing the trouble codes, the history of the issues and what was found when the fuel pump was replaced their processional opinion is that the likelihood of this car failing the third time we drove it without previous having trouble codes is about 0%. The car would have been showing trouble codes for the fuel regulator long before the fuel pump itself burned up. Even the shadiest car dealer usually gives you a 30 day warranty but not if you already know the car is a POS. I would never recommend buying from them. read more

I wish I would have checked the reviews of Marlow before I ventured in there myself. In March of 2013 I took my Corolla in so they could change the front driver side wheel bearing. In November I started hearing noises again as if a bearing was going bad so I resolved that it must be the passenger side because I'd so recently had the other changed out. I changed the passenger side bearing myself to no avail, the noise continued. I jacked up the driver side and checked it to find the one installed my Marlow was indeed the problem. I thought "No problem, its been less than a year and I'm sure they'll understand." After all, I paid almost $400 for them to change it even though the part is only about $60. When I took it back, they told me the warranty on mileage had run up at 12000 miles and I was over, however, they were willing to replace it at $55 for the part and only $85/hr instead of their usual $100/hr. Sweet deal, huh. I truly wish I had read the reviews first and knew about how they leave you "high and dry" after you leave the lot. Buyer beware. My problem was never resolved. When I addressed this with the manager, he tried to talk his way out of it, and when I called him out on it, he told me the conversation was over and dismissed me. Thumbs down on Marlow Motors of Front Royal. Please heed this advice before you end up their next victim/customer. read more

I have been taking my truck to Marlow for a few years now for service since the dealership I bought it from closed down. At first, service was excellent. I even wrote a letter once telling them how pleased I was with their service. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly and the prices seemed competitive. But lately, I have noticed a increase in staff turnover and during the past three visits it seems they try to upsell what I am there for and tack on additional charges. My truck needed a CCV filter they didn't have in stock, the service advisor said he would order it and call me when it came in. I never received a call back! I ended up ordering the filter on line and changing it myself! The previous visit, I had them change my differential fluid. Without discussing it with me, they did the BG fluid change instead of the regular Mopar fluid. My bill was over $700! Way too much. I'm sure the BG is good stuff but I would have opted for the Mopar brand since that is was is recommended by Chrysler. And recently, I was quoted $860 for a new tail pipe and muffler. Way too much and after visiting a couple other muffler shops, I found out my muffler was fine, all I needed was a new tail pipe. I had the work done elsewhere for $350. I really don't think I will be giving them any more chances. They were wonderful a few years ago but there have been changes. The staff quality has gone down and they are trying to gouge the customers. I don't think there are any quality dodge service dealers left in this area now. read more

Customer service was very poor from beginning to end. When trying to get a sales contract I had to keep calling with no return calls until I sent a chat message.(I live 2 hours away) If I could have found the same Jeep somewhere else for about the same price I would of gone elsewhere from the beginning. When i went to sign the paper work for the sale they had my trade in as a Yukon and I had a Camry. Paper work was a mess. It has been 46 days and I still do not have my title and tags from the State of MD. I have called, emailed,sent chats and left messages and I still do not have an answer to where it is. My temp tags ran out and I called a dozen times, emailed and left many messages before I received another set of temporary tags in the mail. My bank has been calling me about the title so I called Maryland DMV and they still do not have the paper work from Marlow. The only good thing was the price. I would never recommend them. read more

The sales staff at Marlow was great to work with. Neal was the saleman I was working with specifically. He did not apply any pressure tactis to buy and was receptive to my window shopping the first trip I made there. The selection was ok on used trucks, having a range of makes and models with several levels of pricing. we drove several trucks ranging form the top of our price to the bottom as well as different makes/models. THe truck we decided on was well priced and they were willing to negotiate on price and it still had a portion of it factory warranty available. Marlow offered a very fair price for our trade in as well. Overall the dealaership had some of the best pricing in the area and were very professional and respecful to our needs. THe purchasing process was very smooth and effrotless. I was actually in and out in just over an hour, very impressive. Purchased 2015 Jeep Patriot on March 31 2015. On April 9 2015 water started coming in through the rear cargo light. Since then it has been to Marlow and "fixed" 4 times - the last time it leaked from the rear cargo light was June 1 2015 took it back after not repairing and actually damaging the car the sent it to Royal Auto Works because they were too incompetent to fix it. Marlow got my Jeep back yesterday June 12 2015 and after 4 "repairs" and a 100% guarantee that it was fixed from Ed Sullivan service manager I picked up my car. Well it rained about 4 hours later and guess what the rear cargo light was filled with water. So it is now back at Marlow. They have had this Jeep for all but 4 hours in the month of June - I have had this Jeep long enough to make 1 payment on it. I would seriously caution anyone looking to go to this dealership. After my 100% repaired guarantee (TO MY FACE) I'm not sure if they just do not know what they are doing or are simply liars. read more
