If you've seen one decent Marriott, you've seen them all. Beware that during tourist season things can get CRAZY. Cruise companies have a deal where you can stay at the Marriott and then giant coach buses pick everyone up and take them to the ship the next morning. The entire hotel lobby was filled with suitcases and rowdy children. Also, the concierge floor was decent but the food and beer selection isn't great. I've experienced a lot better. But their breakfast buffet was a Marriott breakfast buffet which means it was great. read more

I've been coming here for years and this is a pretty average Marriott. At least they renovated the place a few years ago so things aren't too beat up yet. The location is pretty good and it's walking distance to most things downtown. read more

Kind of a drab skyscraper in downtown Anchorage. There didn't seem to be too much to do right around the hotel. The valet and bell staff were very helpful, especially since we had more gear than they brought with them to D-day. Rooms were ok as was the view. No shuttle to the train station, unfortunately. read more

I checked in to this hotel yesterday. I read the other reviews, some giving five stars for customer service. Maybe so, on a good day with the right staff. So far, day two, valet staff is lame. "I don't know. I just got here" when we asked if keys were in our car. The girls at the front desk were pleasant but sort of robotic. The restaurant is overpriced. Use Yelp and check out the other great places nearby. Oh, and queen beds are double! You can see the 6" gap from the edge of the mattress to the edge of the wall mounted headboard. But they were comfortable enough. read more

Parking is hard to find, and the pillows are horrid. Might as well not have any. You also have to call down for extra blankets.... this is Alaska guys! That being said, all the staff are extremely friendly and everything is quite clean! read more

Stayed here for 1 night and wish I would have stayed at another Marriott property, but you cannot beat the downtown location. I arrived and Valet was no were to be found, left the car and then went to check in. My room was nice and clean but the chair had a coil loose and ripped my jeans when I stood up. Management was very nice though and offered to replace the jeans. The next morning was an early once since I had to catch a flight and valet again did not realize that I had called down for my car so while they were looking for my keys, I stuck my head out the door and saw my car (at least they had it started to warm it up). I will stay here again, but will probably try another Marriott property first before coming back here. read more

Great hotel. Rooms are clean, big and have sweeping views of the city and bay. I love the big windows. The decor is modern and has the standard marriott amenities. What sets this place apart is the staff and service - I have been consistently impressed by the concierge lounge service (amazing! Better than most restaurants!) and front desk, which really works to help out travelers. I always look forward to my trips to anchorage. read more

This review is for two stays, one on July 30th and one on August 11th, 2015. This hotel is OK. Considering the competition in Anchorage (which is not much) I gave it 3 stars. If it were in a bigger city, or had more competition, I'd only give it 2 stars. Overall, the place is clean enough, except the rooms are showing some wear. Carpet in the rooms is old, somewhat matted, and a bit dirty. The common areas are limited, but nice. There's a lot of cruise traffic through this hotel. Both times we stayed here, we had to (practically) climb over piles of luggage being offloaded from tour busses run by cruise lines, to get through the front door. So consider if that is important to you. My biggest gripe was with the room service. I haven't ordered room service in any hotel in at least 5 years, and my perception is that its not a popular service anymore. This hotel had poor service both times. The first time, I called at 6 AM to order breakfast for two. I was put on hold for 5 minutes and nobody ever took me off hold. I hung up and called back, explained that I needed the breakfast by 6:40 at the latest, otherwise I would not order because I wouldn't have time to eat. They took our order and said the food would be there by 6:30. At 6:45, I called to find out where the food was, and nobody had any knowledge of it. We were quite upset at this point, and they promised to get our order made and delivered in 10 minutes, and that there would be no charge. We had a tight schedule, but agreed. The food did arrive in 10 minutes, surprisingly, but they got our order wrong. We ate it anyway, and left the hotel. We ended up getting charged for the breakfast, and I'm still fighting with their business office to get the charge reversed. On our next stay, we ordered our breakfast/room service the night before for a 6:15 delivery. It arrived right on time, but again, the order was wrong. We didn't bother to get it corrected because we had to leave to catch a flight. All in all, I would stay here again, because there are not a lot of options. But I would be careful about the room service, or any communication over the phone with them. read more

I have stayed at this hotel many times over the past year. I must say that my experience has gotten worse each time. The rooms while clean are in need of some repair. There appears to be some mold issues. The hotel staff in the past has been nice and friendly, but my last stay they were very abrupt. They used to offer a bottle of water and were helpful on places to dine. Last time they offered nothing. The only bright side to this last experience was the valet parking. The guys were very quick and nice. I will be moving to another property on my next stay. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone staying in downtown Anchorage. read more

Big rooms. Nice gym and pool. Nice cold water and lemonade offered at elevator lobby. Very nice and helpful young man at the front door. He was so helpful with giving us a ride to a local laundromat for a quick wash and dry. About an hour later he was back to pick up laundry for the hotel and we got a ride back. read more

Great location in downtown Anchorage. Rooms were nicely decorated and large. The walls of our room were thin, we could hear our neighbor but it didn't impact us too much. No matter how beautiful the room is, and how good you slept, it all boils down to the food. I ordered the boom boom shrimp, wayy too salty, I noticed this, why is this I wonder. No I'm not sensitive. I will say I ordered this before it was perfect, and was served on top of rice, very very good. But the second time, it came with just the shrimp cabbage mixture and salty. I'll just make my own at home. I think this is best. What us up with these restaurants here in anchorage? Plus, the front counter girls wear too much make up and are very rude to villagers or people who don't look like them. read more

I was in a rush when I left in March 2018 and left a nice compact wireless speaker and electric toothbrush in the room. Well didn't realize it until a day later. When I returned a few days later and asked if housekeeping had found it, they said no. I think it's finders keepers at this place, they just take it home, or sell it on Craigslist. The maids just treat forgotten items as their own personal property and you never get it back....sad! read more

Anchorage day 2 Let's relive the frustrations of checking in. I pulled up to the curb to look for where we could check in and was directed to pull into the valet parking area because they had four buses coming. I said I didn't want valet parking and she said it wouldnt matter. So I pulled in there and went in to go check in. The next thing I know some guy's running up telling me, "Give me your keys! Give me your keys! It's for emergencies!" I said I don't want valet parking and he said, It's OK, it's just for emergencies." He had a thick Russian accent and didn't speak English well. I didn't know that Clyde had told him to go ahead and get our bags. So the Russian guy took our bags and I went to go move the car which was trapped in because it was a valet parking area with the same bellboy who is taking our bags to the fourth floor who had four other cars to move out of my way and go park at the parking garage across the street! One by one, I watched him get a car, drive to the parking garage nearby, vanish while he parked it, run back, get another car, etc. Glasses in room were dirty. We waited on hold with Expedia to get the general manager to waive our fees for leaving early. No answer, even though he was in his office, right behind the front desk! Horrible. Got charged for an extra night due to leaving early. Moved to Courtyard by Marriott Airport. A beautiful experience! Warm, welcoming, excellent service. And much less expensive!! read more

Staff is way above average. This seems to be the place for conferences and evening events in Anchorage with a great downtown location. However, it's just an average hotel with bad food for a high price. Still charging for in room wi fi? Really? Captain Cook hotel is two blocks away, has a great restaurant (Fletcher's), and offers free wi fi at the same price. Often free upgrades for military at the Capt Cook. Not very impressed by the Marriott and no airport shuttle was the last straw. read more

We held a conference here this weekend and were very very happy how smooth everything went. The banquet staff was incredible! Braden from banquets was one of the best I have ever seen. One phone call or text and he was there quickly and with a smile to help us with even our most annoying needs. We are very impressed and will definitely be using this hotel again for our future events. read more

I have stayed here and the Captain Cook in downtown. Rooms about the same, location about the same, no free wifi in the rooms at the Marriott, and no airport shuttle in either place. Cheaper at the Captain Cook. For the price at the Marriott, I expect more, but Marriott properties have a habit of "nickel and dime" you to death. Oh well, at least the room is clean, the water hot in the shower, and the in room coffee not too horribly bad. Staff is great in both locations by the way. read more

I've stayed at every marriott property in anchorage and overall the hotel is good. Much cleaner than it was a year ago. Staff is mostly fine with a couple folks at the front desk that just seem disinterested while the mgr and others go out of their way for you. Club room staff is excellent. Same guy every time who remembers me and my love of water and ginger ale. Biggest complaint here is the room service. Ugh. Shrimp appetizer $12 last night was described as having panko and drizzled in a sauce. Yeah tiny shrimp, still partially w shells on them, no panko and overlooked' on top of "napa slaw" that looked like some shredded iceberg out of a bag. Last time I was here it was an overlooked chicken breast with a creamy sauce that was separated. Yuck. Turkey sandwich was so salty I couldn't wear my rings the next day. Salad was ok but for what you pay, it was very disappointing.. They follow up on your meal but by then what's the point. I'm ready for bed. Luckily it's close to great restaurants, so walk to glacier ale house. You'll be glad you did. read more

After waiting for more than 30 minutes for a simple burger, it arrived cold. The waitress saw my displeasure and came over to ask if all was well. When I explained that the burger--though rare as requested--was quite cold, she offered to replace it. During my wait for the second burger, the head of food services came over to offer to waive the bill. I replied that all I wanted was the burger served not cold. That was 50 minutes ago and I'm still waiting for a burger. Won't eat here again-polite staff, but poorly run kitchen. read more

My husband and I ate at the restaurant on Tuesday, December 13th, I ordered a Swiss mushroom burger and my husband ordered a cheeseburger. We got sick early morning, Diahrrea and vomiting. I left a message for the food coordinator to let her know that the burgers were back and asked if she could call me back. I never received a phone call back. DON'T order the burgers!!!! I haven't had food poisoning for years, it was awful. It would have been nice to receive a return phone call. read more

This is much like most Marriott hotels, quite nice with comfortable rooms and a great location. I was happy with everything about it EXCEPT the stupid policy for wifi that it is only free in the lobby unless you are a status member. For this reason only I would not likely go back and really hope they grow up and realize this hurts them in the future and change the policy. read more
