Beware of their parking lot. My brand new Audi got hit in the parking lot and no one left a note. I went inside to speak to the store manager and she stated that the parking lot is not owned by Marshall's- it's owned by another company. She refused to give the contact information or the name of the company that owned the parking lot. I didn't see any cameras outside the store-which is unfortunate. Customer service in this Marshalls location is the worst i've ever seen. This is my 1st time giving a review...We we looking for shoes yesterday and trying them on to see which will fit me and here came a rude sales person named Lucy telling us that we did a mess and we're not supposed to open boxes and just get the size we need....note: the way she approached us and her voice tone was a really off. We were holding two shoe boxes to purchase and looking for the third one. We were shocked with her mean attitude. This store has issues. 1. You can't use the restroom until an employee can become free to let you in. (Grow Up) 2. The men's selection has become smaller and smaller over the years, now the purses alone outnumber men's items. the entire store is marketed to women. I don't remember this being the theme of Marshalls. 3. When asking about the size of the department, they just say "That's all there is." OBVIOUSLY!! I'm asking you why your department for men is only 3% of the store. No accountability for decisions made. (I'll stick to the studio city location.) Hey Yelp ... This Marshalls is truly a hidden gem of sorts. It is very easy to drive right past it without noticing. It doesn't exactly stand out from the street and has no windows on the front side of the building. But, onto the good stuff...soooooooooo many goodies to find here. I found a great 2nd set of dinnerware that was under $20. I also got great drinking glasses set of 6 for less than $7. Tons of throw blankets, but only a few really good ones that you really have to hunt for in the piles. Pots and pans selection is minimal, but not awful by an means. I even found a great set of guest towels a few aisles down from the dishes I bought. They were "on sale" for $8 for 4 of them. I can't believe it. I love Marshall's and I love Homegoods however this Marshalls Homegoods combo in Encino is a big fail! This use to be my favorite Marshalls but not anymore as the merchandising of the clothes is over packed racks that you could barely move through to look at the merchandise. It was a frustrating shopping trip today and I will not do it again at this location! How do you merchandise half of the store and leave the other half a disaster?!?! If I could give less than one star I would. I very seldom write a review, but my experience with returns was unbelievable. First let me say that I had my receipt which was three days old. I was returning two blouses that I decided not to keep. They had not been worn, but I had removed the price tags, which I placed on the blouses so there would be no problem. I was met with a so called cashier that looked at me like I was a thief and a transaction that should have taken 5 min took over 15. A woman who was supposedly the manager never said a word and when I asked her what the problem was, she was rude and offensive. Finally I was given a return of $5 and $7.99! I shop here often. Tonight was a completely Sour Taste. I'm in line to go next to try on 3 items! Mind you no big bag! Which should not be an issue if you have one! The girl before me goes in Ema Z who was in the dressing room counter. counts her items which were 2 pair of leggings. Comes out and leaves with no Issue. I go in she counts my items super normal protocol and I come out and she grabs my item to count and says I need to make sure they have the Price tag. My look said it all! I said what do you mean!! It's protocol we do this all the time.. I said no you don't! Mind you I saw the previous customer come and go, and I'm there often.. It's not Ok to Profile customers and I asked her for name and she said why! I saw her batch and as I walked away she said it's protocol whatever I said have a good night and spoke to the Coordinator! I hope the Manager Ramila, who was nice enough to open the restroom for me earlier when I arrived with my husband and son, guided me to the athletics department. I had the worst experience at this Marshall's I went in at 9:00pm they close at 9:30 , I grabbed some items and wanted to go to the fitting room around 9:15 , Mashid Said to me I can't go in when the person Infront of me just went in the fitting room she was talking to her friend at that time ... I told her the store just announced we have 15 minutes till close time why can't I go in ( Of course she didn't want me to go in because she didn't feel like folding the clothes I had about 10 items , the min she saw me she was just like in shock like omg I am not about to fix that ) I asked for the manager Jennifer came and she said of course I can go in , as I was walking in she 299was yelling and yelling for me to come back and take a number ... ( as if I had more patience for her after the way she treated me ) Jennifer asked her to stop . I have a love/hate relationship with this Marshalls, but since I'm a regular, there must be more love than hate....right? Anyway, this Marshalls is on the smaller side and the parking lot isn't huge, BUT I never seem to have an issue finding a spot. They seem to have a decent selection that changes frequently, which I appreciate and I've recently noticed a change in staff that is quite fresh and friendly. (Shout out to Sally with the lovely British accent and sunny disposition) However, there are some issues with this place, namely the clientele. YES, it seems that the Encino Marshalls is a gauche-customer magnet. By this I mean, the kind that take up two parking spots with their land rovers, yell to eachother from across the aisles, stare you down but never acknowledge you, have loud cell phone conversations and quite frankly have no shopping etiquette. I realize this seems to be the norm in LA in general, but when confined to a small discount store with crowded aisles, it seems to be magnified. My advice? Come here really early when the local (& polite) seniors are doing their retail therapy or have a cocktail before entering to take the edge off... enjoy! (and be nice tot he cashiers!) read more

Rude, rude, rude! Studio City Marshalls has the best cashiers. Friendly, helpful. Will never return to Encino! Did a return and was treated with such unwarranted suspicion it made me uncomfortable. The way the cashier pored over my receipt - and questioned my desire for store credit. I had my ID. It is my right to get store credit if I want it! Then she gets the manager because the return will be more than 100.00. Since when is that a thing?? Again, I had a receipt and it was within the time frame! It all felt very uncomfortable. They had me flustered at this point, saying that some of the items were on a different receipt, etc. I found the correct receipt and they completed the transaction but I actually called them on their attitude and they apologized. I purchase clothes for my elderly mom and I don't always know which receipt goes with which purchase. A little kindness goes a long way. I will stick to Studio City! read more

Customer service here isn't the greatest. There is always a long line. The prices aren't as low as I would expect from Marshall's. Some of the clothes are priced okay while others are just as high as some department stores. I was shopping with my mother and overheard a sales associate talking trash about my mother and gesturing "oh see that lady over there she filed a complaint against me" as my mother walked past her, and two other employees and customers into her fitting room. The sales associate laughed and mocked my mother making additional comments "I don't know what her problem is" again this was in front of two other employees and customers. As the sales associate walked away from the fitting room I approached her and another male employee who I came to find out was actually the store manager. I explained that it was me who filed the complaint for poor customer service and rude behavior which was proven yet again this second visit. The manager assured me that the sales associate was previously reprimanded but couldn't share details. I expressed interest and concern because this was the second incident where the same sales associate went out of her way to make my mother feel uncomfortable and attempting to embarrass her. I was baffled by the managers response but considered him making light of the situation earlier with his employee not realizing I over heard the entire exchange and conversation as they walked away from the fitting room. Based on this fact I advised him I would continue my complaint toward the regional management team, to which he responded that's "ok you can choose to do so but all complaints end up coming back to me any way" After my conversation with the manager I went back to sit in front of the fitting room and wait for my mother to finish trying on clothing. I soon realized I didn't have the sales associates name even though I recognized her face, and recalled the last incident based on her rude outburst toward my mother. I looked at the sales associates name badge but couldn't make out a name because the font print was too small, it was smaller than every other employee's name badge I encountered at that store that afternoon. I politely asked "excuse me miss", she ignored me, I asked again "excuse me miss", again she ignored me, I asked a third time "excuse me miss can I please have your name?" She gave me a dirty look and said she was "talking to her friend right now and even if she wasn't she would still not give me her name and said if I wanted it I should talk to the manager" while holding a walkie talkie. I was shocked and again embarrassed, I looked toward her co-worker working the fitting room area who overheard the entire exchange and asked "is this normal behavior, was it something I said?" To which she replied "I'm so sorry I've never seen this and don't know what to tell you, it's not right." At this point I walked away toward the front of the store and requested to speak with the manager, to share my most recent experience. The manager accused me of following his sales associate around the store and making her feel uncomfortable advising me that she felt threatened. This was a lie because I was sitting outside the fitting room waiting for my mother when I asked for the sale associates name and security footage can prove this fact. The manager then advised me that I already had her name assuming remembered it, or could actually see the name printed on her badge. This response was another showing of poor customer service this time on the managers side, lack of empathy, active listening, and ultimately not addressing my original question, which was asking for an associates name. Sometimes people remember faces not names, sometimes a tone of voice and behavior or an overall poor shopping experience rather than a name. It was obvious at this point that the manager was not planing on pursing or making any remedies to correct this sort of behavior. Due to this exchange, it will be the last time I visit the Sherman oaks store, and will share this experience with family and friends so that other individuals are aware of the pedestrian service the store and brand offers its customers. read more

I was excited when I came into this store because it was a lot more organized than most other Marshall's that I have been to. For the every day discount fashionista, bargain hunting usually consist of grueling rummaging through mountains of clothes to find the steal. But not hear. The sizes and seasons seam to be organized accordingly. The house ware section was neat, clean, and featured a wide selection! Not to mention the shoes....the best names for us girls with eye for fashion, with pockets shallow as a kiddy pool :) read more

Purchased a bookbag for daughter and needed to return it since it had a broken zipper the evening before her first day of school !! Got there right at 8:00 pm just to return the bookbag so I can go buy her a new one at Target and the store manager would not let me return it. I was inside the store and RAMILA P. stands in front of me and stops me to say the store is closed and she would not let me through arguing with me that it's 8:00 pm and she COULDN'T let me pass. Seriously???!!! You mean you WON'T. People make the difference and you COULD of if you WANTED to. That's called customer service and you lady have no sense and have poor judgement when it comes to customer service. Get another job cause you make this store look bad and you suck at your job. Not only did the store carry defective merchandise, the store manager RAMILA P. is rude, mean and nasty as can be, fighting and arguing with me that it is 8:00 pm and the store is closed in front of a long line of customers and kept a school girl from having a bookbag on her first day of school. Your Hit or Miss location! I love going to Marshall's, especially when I'm just looking for something for a last minute event and don't have time to deal with a department store. I love shoes, definitely my biggest weakness! They have a good size shoe selection but it is limited in comparison to other Marshall's, the plus side is that even though it's limited they have more high-end brand names (ie. Michael Kors, Coach, Steve Madden etc.) Their clothing selection is also limited. At the front of the store they have displays that changes depending on the time of year. I was there yesterday looking for a white top, their front display was all things Valentine's Day (ie. lingerie, gift ideas for him/her etc.) After the front display is the shoe section and of course women's shoes is the bigger selection. To the right the store layout features their "Just In" merchandise that's highlighted. Unfortunately this is the biggest hit and miss section! Some items I personally feel are way over priced for Marshall's (the only White top I thought would do perfect with the pants, shoes and accessories that I picked out was a Calvin Kline simple button down with gold buttons, it was priced at $69.99) and sadly this section is very inconsistent. When it has a large variety of new items it's a great hidden gem! But when they lack inventory you can definitely tell. About a month ago I was there looking for something for my birthday and they just received a lot of their Spring apparel, this was in January so I didn't really purchase any spring items, just looked at their selection which now I totally regret because a month later their merchandise was very disappointing. Staff is friendly but they're really only at the fitting room and POS area. They aren't really helpful and I don't feel they're approachable. Every time I'm checking out they always offer me to sign up for a credit card. I'm reluctant to say "No" because they always seem to follow up with an inquiry of why I don't want a Marshall's credit card and save 10% on today's purchase. This place is either a great hidden gem or a disappointment. There have been times where I've been very pleased with the prices and items I've found! Encino Location-Never should have shared this "small" location with Home Goods. The aisles are so narrow that another shopper has to back out of the aisle in order for you to enter the aisle. The clothing selection has gone down-hill as well. The positive of the merger is the enlargement of the parking lot. read more

This is my favorite Marshall's in the area! I think it is the largest, and it is always clean and organized. You know this is a good store because the line is always long, however the wait usually isn't too bad. The selection of designers is good, and the holiday decorations are always fun and unique. I've had several bad experiences at this marshalls. Customer service is terrible!!!! The woman that ringed me up looked like she hated her job but how is that my problem? She also assumed I spoke Spanish so that was such a stereotype I didn't know what she was telling me. Good luck at getting store credit or your money back without a receipt or the tags attached to your items. I had an argument over some pants that my son didn't fit in, I saved the tag but threw away the receipt, I told the lady how was it my problem that my son ripped off the tags? I still saved them and brought them back. She just didn't care and said sorry we can't help you the tag needs to be on the pants!!! I told her I had to speak with her manager, I wasn't having this. I'm a good paying customer. But honestly I felt discriminated, I Love shopping at this store but because of the customer service there it makes me think twice before buying anything there ever again. I also felt really discriminated. Why can't they just be happy and do their job and give good customer service? I don't understand people idk why they are so miserable and then they end up taking it out on their clients. I was so polite I wasn't going to stand there and let them take advantage of me. Sad to say this Marshall's customer service is very poor. They mistagged a pair of shoes I brought up to the counter to purchase and made me wait 10 minutes for the sales rep to run around and find a manger. The manager then explained that the item was priced wrong at which I explained that's not my problem or fault as the customer. At this point I was told I would have to wait longer for them to find the correct price! Just so inconsiderate to me and the fact that they PRICED the item $20 with a full tag on it not a sticker so clearly it was done by the which means they should honor it. I left because I didn't want to wait longer and felt they were disorganized and had no concern for me as the customer clearly in a rush and just trying to buy a pair of sandals. Don't rely on the mom to price their items right as the manager also said this happens a lot their so they can't honor the wrong price, meaning their sales department makes Continuous mistakes. Again and again and again, I will say the same thing. I hate shopping BUT I always find the best deals for running clothes at these types of stores. I mean super cheap. This place is good because it is well organized. Someone there really cares about the appearance of the store and it shows.
