Stream that is on the property

Had a great dinner there last night. Sat outside in the back - where we could have our dog with us. The salmon burger was very good and reasonably priced. The cheese curds were ok, though a bit overcooked (and kinda pricey at $16). I really liked the atmosphere. While waiting for our food I walked around the yard with my 2 year old and even went down to the stream to splash in the water. Looking forward to our next visit.

Loved the drinks, cheese curds and chicken sandwich. Fun, chill vibe. Sat outside where they had a small fire pit. Well done!

They are doing a wonderful job, and I am so, so glad they didn't come and go like the other restaurants in that spot before it. You probably knew that from the other reviews, but I have another reason I am writing this. I came here with my husband one night months ago, and he got a cocktail that had cherry and bourbon as the main flavors. I stole most of it from him :D. It was so good that every time I get another cocktail somewhere else, even if it is good, I just wish it was the cherry bourbon one. So, if you're there and they still have it on the menu, I suggest you get it. And if the establishment is reading this, my vote is to keep that one around.

We got our little buzzer and we were told to stay within a half mile. We sat outside across the street on a bench. We watched numerous groups of 3+ go in and not come back out, which means they were seated. When, after 40 minutes, we were called in, none of those groups were at the bar. Kinda makes you wonder. We ordered cokes. $5 each and got refills, but when the bill came was shocked to be charged for every refill! We spent more on cups of Coke than the actual effing meal!!! Ordered the steak medium. It was rare. Oh well, was hungry and didn't want to wait any longer. But it was good. Buffalo chicken cheese curd fries were good, but chicken was dry. The cheesecake was not tasty at all. The burger was "mid," according to my son.

Before dinner, we walked down to Caspian lake with a cocktail from the beer garden and enjoyed the evening breeze. We ate dinner on a beautiful porch that had a prime view of the lake. Our dinner was excellent and extremely well-priced. They had vegetarian options for several dishes, which was perfect for my friend. If you are staying in the area, this local gem is definitely worth visiting! I would recommend making a reservation - You can email, call or text them the day of to confirm a spot! I know it was October, the end of the season. but I still expected the cabin to be clean. The bathroom mirror was a mess and the baseboard had a season's worth of hair and dust from other guests. There were unwashed coffee cups and a big smear on the picture window. It was disappointin. Breakfasts were tolerable, melon the best part. Under the prior ownership, the lodge cooked custom breakfasts with the best muffins ever (fond memories of French puff and raspberry muffins), not a lukewarm buffet. We had dinner for 6 there one night and it was a debacle. Service could not have been worse. One fellow ordered an appetizer as his main course and it was dellivered to the center of the table for people to share. Plates came out at random so some people ate while others waited. One friend and I waited more than a hour while everyone else finished their dinners. We finally got our two dinners as one of our party finished his dessert. The timing was the worst I've ever experienced. The waitress was incompetent and had to be reminded to bring anything we needed. The dining experience was so wretched that I don't even remember the food. The cold lack of hospitality, the state of our cabin, and the at best mediocrity of our dining has led us to find another place to stay when we visit. We can do better and pay less.

Workers were very friendly and welcoming inside. The inside had some bar seating and some table seating with someone playing piano. The menu has a variety of different sandwiches. I started with a hot chocolate and the elote dip. Hot chocolate was nothing special but was good on a cold day. The elote dip was delicious! Warm and cheesy! Yum! I then ordered the falafel pita. It wasn't my favorite. The falafel was crisp but I didn't love the homemade gluten free pita. It was not fluffy and was just kinda bland. The fries were made well! Thick and very crispy. So while on a trip and looking for a spot to grab some lunch naturally we ended up picking this spot. I've been aware of Lost Nation Brewing but it's been since 2016/2017 when I had a beer from them last. To start they have ample parking and have a nicely painted mural on the side of their building. They have an indoor section we did not check that out and instead sat at the bar in the outdoor section. How can you pass up looking into the kitchen and also the wafting scents of burgers, fries and everything else being cooked. Despite a chillier day than most we have had lately it was worth it! Besides their own brews they had guest taps, guest botttles/cans, and even some cocktails including some spiked apple cider for that fall feeling drink. For beer fans they even had a rotating Hillfarmstead DIPA for a guest tap. I ended up getting their Kolsch and my wife got their gose. Both very solid beers and worth grabbing. Food wise they had a couple burgers, fried chicken sandwich, pulled pork, turkey sandwich, hot dogs, and some small plates. My wife ended up choosing the burger and I got their fried chicken sandwich. She enjoyed the burger and thought it was cooked very well. The chicken sandwich was delicious, the fact it was smothered in honey did make it a bit messy to eat but tasted so good! The fries we got were massive and well seasoned and the side of pickles were great too. Would be a no brainer to get either one again if we visit again! Bartender was friendly and we didn't wait long at all for the drinks or food! Well made brews paired along side delicious food, really what more could you ask for? If you visit during warmer weather it appeared they have a huge outdoor area further back than we were in as well! If you like visiting breweries add this to your list to check out!

Anyways, came back from Jay tonight and needed dinner and even though I stopped at the gas station/mart down the road and grabbed a sandwich I still felt I needed dinner (saving the sandwich for tomorrow.) Popped in and knew this was the right decision. Missed the special menu but the pesto flatbread sounded good. I went with the pot roast dinner which was phenomenal. Fell apart with a fork, vegetables were cooked spot on, and think they were deep fried mashed potatoes? That or panko covered. Ether way they were like cheese balls that were yummy. Service was excellent. The cashier had the best cheerful smile and attitude. She also served and bused the tables so she was always asking everyone one everything was. Place is inviting, I can only imagine what the vibe is in the morning when they serve breakfast. Probably will pop in when I head out of town to fuel up for the ride home. This place is definitely worth the stop not only because of what I wrote but because it's a local business and you should avoid the quick fast meal spots.

A destination dining experience that quietly rivals Michelin-level restaurants…read more Some places are good. Some places are memorable. And then there are places that make you stop mid-bite and think, "How is this here?" The Dinner House is absolutely one of those places. Tucked into the most charming corner of Vermont, this restaurant feels like a discovery -- elegant without being pretentious, warm without being casual. During my stay, the dining room was packed every single night, with real waitlists and a steady buzz that confirmed what was already obvious: people know this place is special. The food is on another level. Thoughtful, refined, and deeply satisfying -- every dish is executed with precision and heart. It's the kind of cooking that feels effortlessly confident. Honestly? This is Michelin-consideration legit. The kind of restaurant you'd expect to read about in a city dining guide, not stumble upon in rural Vermont. Behind it all is a true culinary powerhouse: Steve, the chef, and Maria, the baker. Together, they are magic. The savory dishes are layered, balanced, and beautifully composed, while the baking is exceptional -- the kind that lingers in your memory long after the plate is cleared. Their collaboration elevates the entire experience. Sunday brunch deserves special mention -- indulgent, comforting, and flawless. Come hungry, expect to wait, and trust that it will be worth it. This isn't just a great local restaurant. It's a destination. If you care about food, hospitality, and experiences that feel rare and intentional, make the trip.
