Tiki bar is what it is. We had a good visit here in July. It was busy and packed, but we were able to find a spot on the beach and had our bar that we kept returning to for drinks. The DJ was fun and lively, however the food was subpar. I'd recommend getting food elsewhere. I would return, but only if someone else suggested going or a group wanted to get together

Had dinner at Martel's on 4th of July. We sat outside and the dj was playing some great music. It was a little busy as it was a holiday by our waitress made sure to check up on us. I enjoyed my drunken clams and sushi. Drinks were very good as well.

Love the concept of tiki but the cover charge is ridiculous. Multiple bars make for ordering drinks easy as long as the bar tenders aren't ignoring you. We ordered nachos and I recommend not getting them. They are smothered in fake cheese sauce and the hormel chili from a can. The coconut shrimp was good.

I come here at least 2-3x every summer. It's a good spot to be with friends or a date of you're into taking someone to the beach. The entrance is cash only but once you're in the bar is card (no tap) or cash. The area is clean and has a place for water, drinks, and to wash your self off. You can also have some food here. The staff are amazing and super friendly. Of you can, visit on a Monday for tiki Monday. It's a blast!

True Score: 3.5 Stars Huge This place has live music, another level with a DJ and a beach serving drinks. If you love music and the beach this is the place to check out. Age ranges from 25-50. The food is ok, but it's a real chill spot to go with friends or family. This spot is right off the main boardwalk so you have everything right there. Music entertainment, food and drinks on the beach. Biggest problem and it is to be expected is the price. 25 dollar sandwiches for sub par food. 8 dollar beers, 14 dollar weak drinks. We hung here for a football game on a Sunday. 4 of us with food and drinks spent nearly 450 dollars in 3 hours. It adds up quickly, beware. Great location. Thanks

Lobster BLT sandwich was packed with lobster and delish. Can't wait to get it again. Reasonably priced too.

4 Stars Great spot with a laid-back vibe and incredible views! We had a dozen Old Bay steamed clams (perfectly seasoned), a cheeseburger with fries, and drinks--a Red Bull and a Diet Pepsi. The barmaid/waitress was super friendly and attentive, and the service was quick. Definitely a solid place to relax, grab a bite, and enjoy the scenery.

What an awesome fun bar right on the boardwalk of Point Pleasant. YOU MUST HAVE VALID ID TO ENTER. Regardless of your age over 21. Come hang out for several hours. Eat, drink, and listen to live music.

Cool spot for drinks and live music right on the beach. Bartenders are relatively friendly and attentive considering how overwhelmed they were with drunk people swarming the bar. The skinny beach margarita was pretty gross. We could barely finish them. Such an overwhelming artificial flavor that had a punch with a cheap tequila flavor. Good beer selections.

I think this place is a solid 3 stars. Why? -they have booze. -they are in an oceanfront setting. -the bartender was quite good considering he had to handle an entire bar that was packed on an "unseasonably" warm mid-April day. He wasn't the type for friendly banter but he got the job done. -the fries probably come from Sysco or whoever supplies elementary school cafeterias. After a few drinks they seemed quite good. Slightly salty but aren't they always? The draft beer selection is pretty weak. They had patron tequila but the only variety of "1800" Brand was coconut. Nikki loves it, I think it tastes like old school suntan oil. There's always been some band playing every time I've gone. Are they good? I dunno, do you expect a band playing in this sort of venue to be top tier talent? I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the tiki bar if you're at the shore and want a drink with mediocre food. For satiety, one would be better off getting a boardwalk slice before or after imbibing, or sticking to bar standby's like the fries or chicken tenders. Then you can walk it off and enjoy your shore day.

Nine Deeez Nite band. They are great!!

*** update 9/19/2023 - I am removing one star because this past Saturday I went back to Martell's and after opening a tab, giving my credit card, we left our bags on the table near the stage and walked to the bar near the water to take a few pictures. Once we got back our waitress (Rachel) had moved our stuff to another table and gave our table to another family (probably regulars). There were many tables available at that time. Once I brought this up to her attention she said that we should have informed her we were leaving. So what's the point of opening a tab? I wasn't going to run away! We were gone for less than 15 minutes. *** ** original 4 stars review ** I visited Martell's this past Sunday and was overall satisfied with my visit. Keep in mind that on Sundays it doesn't get crowded like on Saturdays or Mondays (Tiki Mondays) and there are no DJ's so it's a quieter ambiance. If you are looking for a spring break type of party avoid Sunday. But if you just want to have a good time, listen to live music and have a few drinks you will have fun. On the plus side on Sundays it's easier to find parking on the streets nearby and there was no line to get in. If you go on Saturdays I would suggest arriving earlier than 11am. We had a burger which was pretty decent and both the beer and drink prices are also decent. I paid around $6 plus tax for local beer and my wife's Pina Colada were about $10 plus tax. For a Tiki Bar at Point Pleasant beach where hotels are $200+ per night and pizza slices are over $5 on the boardwalk I believe Martell's prices are ok. The waitress was friendly and the afternoon band (Nine Deeez) was great. We had a lot of fun! We didn't stay for the Sunday evening band so we can't comment on that. I will probably return on a Saturday and update my review at that time.

Used to come here with my family each visit to Pt Pleasant, ~20 years ago! I can say it has stayed great and was happy with the food and service overall. We each tried drinks from their menu (coconut mojito and the hibiscus refresh) and both were fantastic and came out promptly. Ordered the coconut shrimp appetizer and they were good, not overly flavorful but decent and fresh. Salads were great. For entrees I had the Truffle Scallops and fettuccine dish, it was amazing. Definitely will be back for that. My dinner companion had one of their specials, a fra di avo lo mixed seafood dish over spaghetti. Also delicious! Our favorite thing here was the scallops by far, don't miss out! The waitstaff and busmen do a fantastic job here. Very attentive and friendly :) Can't wait to come back, thank you Shrimp Box!

As mentioned, was here as a younger me and it was significantly better....food and cost. Parking could be a challenge there.

Unfortunately, the two bartenders were not friendly or welcoming at all. When we asked for drink recommendations, they simply said they'd never tried them and didn't know if they were good. We definitely got the impression they weren't happy having our larger group at the bar, even though it was still early and several of us were ordering drinks. Thankfully, once we were seated, the experience was completely different. Our waiter was fantastic--friendly, attentive, and great with our large group--and the food was very good. Walking into the restaurant, i also have to say that I encountered the most friendly servers I've ever encountered at a down the shore restaurant. Every single server, said hello, good afternoon, thank you for coming, have a great day, and were so pleasant and friendly. It was a nice change to be greeted happily by so many just for lunch. What I really came for was to get one last lobster roll before the summer ended and was pleasantly surprised that even though the size may be deceiving from my picture, it was a very satisfying and stuffed with fresh lobster. I also had the burrata appetizer, which came with 2 small toasts and I think some kind of mango puree, which was just okay (I think I'd skip that next time), and we also ordered the seafood platter, which was very good as well. Overall, it was a great lunch, I'd definitely go back and would highly recommend!

As usual, the restaurant was very busy--we waited about two hours for a table, and getting drinks at the bar took some patience. Once seated, however, our waitress was excellent: friendly, attentive, and one of the reasons we enjoy coming here. The only negative part of the evening occurred after dinner. My friend and I walked down to the dock to smoke cigars. We passed a security staff member while holding our cigars, and he allowed us through without hesitation and which we normally do when we go to the Wharfside. About 15 minutes later, another security staff member approached and told us smoking wasn't allowed there. I had no issue leaving, but I was disappointed by how she handled the situation. The conversation quickly became confrontational as we were walking off the dock, and I felt I was spoken to disrespectfully [she called me a dick for no reason. We were lucky enough to score a table right on the water, with water views and a live band. The atmosphere was fun, lively, and everything you'd hope for in a waterfront restaurant. Midway through our meal, however, a sudden rainstorm rolled in and created a bit of chaos. Everyone rushed to grab one of the limited covered tables under the tent, making the experience feel a little frantic for a while. The staff did not help figure out where to go, what to do or anything really helpful. Food-wise, the best was Mike's Signature Bang Bang Shrimp. The rice bowls were less impressive. The vegetable component was more of a slaw than the stir-fried vegetables we expected, the dishes could have used much more sauce, and the panko-crusted mahi bowl felt heavier and more fried than anticipated. We also ordered a bucket of High Noons, but there was confusion about the happy hour deal. Neither the menu nor our server could explain the bucket pricing, and when the bill arrived, it appeared we paid the same as ordering the drinks individually. That was disappointing and took away from the experience.

We went out to eat twice while there, once for dinner and once for lunch. I will review both places using this as my intro to the reviews. For dinner, we ate at Jack Baker's Wharfside, which I also see listed as The Wharfside Seafood & Patio Bar. Frankly surprised it has very average ratings, as I would not say that was our experience on Tuesday night, August 4, 2026. It was reasonably busy and likely explains the somewhat slow service. We were 4 adults and a toddler. We had a few cocktails; all were reasonably good and fairly priced. There were also a few glasses of wine with the meals from a decent, but not extensive list. Everyone had seafood, including the toddler, which included the spicy garlic shrimp appetizer that was a crowd pleaser, and main courses that consisted of snow crab, mussels, shrimp, scallops, and lobster. i was the only one to have the lobster bisque, which I thought exceptional, as it had a creamy consistency and loaded with lobster chunks. There were no complaints though about any of the dishes and we were all happy customers. The prices were reasonable considering the fare and the location, especially as the patio featured a live band, We dined on the patio, but far away from the band, so the music level was pleasant, having seen some reviews suggesting it can be a bit much. It would be hard to complain though about the scenery, as the patio faces a calm channel that leads out to sea. All in all it was very a successful evening. I felt this rated a solid 4, understanding some would rate it a 5, but difficult to understand why anyone would place it lower than a 3.
