I know this is a bad time of year with college students taking off, but please, for their sakes and the sake of your establishment, give these workers some better training. The food was amazing and presentation was very good. The service was disappointing and the sound level was horrible. The staff and owner were catering to an extremely loud table that overtook the whole restaurant. My spouse and I went there for a special anniversary, anticipating a pleasant evening. We were greatly disappointed by the severe lack of attention and how the owner and serving staff did nothing to discourage the loud and obviously, drunken group, from waylaying the dining room. I would give an even lower star rating for our evening there, but this is not par for the course for this restaurant, where we have dined many times before, for breakfast, lunch and dinner and also, because the food was outstanding. read more

We experienced a warm, welcome from Debbie who made our early Sunday dinner outside in the restaurant's patio with our teen daughter a special, intimate dinner. My husband and I both chose the 3-course prix fixe menu because we wanted fish. His white fish filets were prepared in a classic pan seared style while mine were blackened. Both of us "won" with perfectly cooked, moist fish. He had a lightly dressed mixed green salad while I enjoyed a yummy cheddar potato chowder. Dessert was a cherry brioche bread pudding... not to be missed. Our daughter ordered the crab cake entree which was good and we all noshed in their raclette ( warm cheese) appetizer which was excellent. A lovely evening made even more special by live music. Outstanding people, we arrived here at a quarter to three they informed us that they close at 3 and reopen at 5. But despite this they were very hospitable. They took an order for a quick sandwich and a cup of coffee irregardless to the fact they wanted to go home before the dinner crowd came and the dinner hour workers. The food was outstanding and they were happy to allow our puppy dog to sit on the porch with us while we ate. Two thumbs up for this place. read more

I love eating at Martha's Leelanau Table.The food is excellent and the staff is very friendly and fun. I ate there last week and paid with my debit card. For some reason my debit card was charged twice. I called to let Martha know and was told this would be taken care of. Well it's been a week later and still has not been resolved. I am giving 3 stars as I can't review the food and it wouldn't be fair to give one star, which I am really feeling. After we were seated in a very friendly and professional manner, we were then ignored for 30 minutes, no one coming to the table, bo one asking about drinks, wait staff not acknowledging eye contact so we politely excused ourselves and left. We were in no hurry and could gave easily grabbed a server as they chatted with everyone around us but I was more interested in seeing how long this would go on but my wife pulled the plug on my experiment after 30 minutes. I am so very disappointed in the seating. The Chef's table, I could see everything. The waitresses verbally abusing the host. Our waitress Debbie was good, but slow as she had a big party. Westly should be fired as she was the trouble maker. My husband as hit, shoved and kicked all evening in his chair. The food was good. But doubt I will be back any time soon. Too bad. read more

The Puerto Rican breakfast was one of the best I've ever had. Comparable to Traverse City's Patisserie Amie and Frenchies in presentation, service and taste. The pre-meal scone was excellent. Highly recommended. read more

Whether a "local" or a visitor to the area, the staff at Martha's treats you you like a friend with service that is superior but not obtrusive. The entrees are creative, and include a range of choices from "UpNorth" to cosmopolitan to international. Not too many restaurants do so much with fresh ingredients, creative prep, and great service. My family of 12 recently went to Martha's when we couldn't get into an across the street competitor. Even though we had a large group with no reservation they seated us outside and gave us water while two large tables were set inside (between 5-10 minutes). What a treat! The food was spectacular. Most everyone raved about their main course with special praise for the scallops and crab cakes. The desserts were sublime. I'm still thinking about my raspberry white cake two weeks later and several times in subsequent days I debated going back in for just another slice. I cannot think of a better piece of cake I have ever eaten. The ambiance was charming; dining takes place in rooms in an old Victorian house with wooden floors. Of special note was the "wall of roosters". Noise level was reasonable--which was important to our group, which contained three mid-80s adults--two of whom have hearing issues. The wait staff was attentive, but not overbearing. We even met Martha after dinner when she stopped by our table. Entrees run in the $15-25 range and are a good value. Salads and appetizers were very reasonably priced. read more

We were there for lunch. The waitress was very friendly. I had the French dip. It didn't have much flavor. The aujus was bland and the grilled bread was not so fresh. My husband had the cheesesteak. He wished the bread was grilled and it was stale. He asked for a side of BBQ sauce and when it came it was a bottle of Jack Daniels BBQ from the grocery store with the price tag still on. We are locals from Northport and we come here every chance we get. The food is outstanding...every bite a treat. I had the rack of lamb (the special that night) for dinner and it was out of this world with a dab of pesto on it that was made from fresh ingredients..what a delight. The setting is lovely, the staff friendly and it was fun to talk with the owner (Martha) who gets out to meet her customers whenever she has a chance. The soft music on the patio was an added bonus and not too loud so conversation was possible. Haven't been to Martha's for dinner in ages and it was wonderful! The salmon "was out of this world" said our three guests and my husband loved the bacon wrapped walleye. We came for a late night dinner and it was exceptional!! The food from the soup to start to the dessert was amazing. The whitefish was some of the best I've had - crispy on the outside and flaky and moist on the inside. The lamb rack was a special and it was amazingly special....the mint sauce made it even better!! The only reason I didn't give it four stars as the service was a bit on the clunky side - a little slower than I would expect. The house was not full but things like iced tea were slow to materialize and at a small table, we had to ask to have the unused wine glasses removed. It was a minor thing but could have been better. Food OK but wait staff pretentious and slow. I've been there 4 times for lunch and dinner and was disappointed my last 2 times. The food is usually delicious but the last time I only ate a few bites of my dinner, the fish was grainy tasting (corn meal). I was so excited to try this restaurant based on the rave reviews. We got the french onion soup. It was okay. It looked like it was made with chicken broth over beef which made it not taste like the real thing but still decent. I don't know why I order crab cakes when I go to restaurants, they always sound so good but this place like about 90% of the places I've had them were dry. The potatoes were cold and we were there as soon as they opened so there wasn't an excuse for them to be that way or to taste like instant. (I'm sure they weren't but they tasted that way and I think it was because of the temp) We weren't going to get dessert but he overheard them talking about carrot cake (his favorite) so he ordered some. I got tempted by the "sugar and spice" cake. Since spice is my favorite I figured I couldn't go wrong. I gave him the first bite and he said it was okay but not as wonderful as his carrot cake. I went in for my bite and the cake crumbled apart. I smooshed it together with my fork and it was bad. I tried for one more bite but it kept falling apart. I didn't eat any more. Not even 1/4 of it gone and the server asked if I didn't like it and I told her no, it was really dry. She offered me something else but nothing else appealed to me. It would've been a nice gesture to take it off the bill but they didn't especially since the servers attitude changed from welcoming to "you can leave now" after politely telling her I didn't care for it when she asked. Brunch was excellent again! This visit I had the breakfast burrito. It was excellent. The coffee is also very good (think Europe when you're ordering or you will be surprised) and the waitress was patient with my kids. It's pricy but you pay for quality ingredients.
