I've come here many times and have never been disappointed. It's always busy and full of regular customers. The menu isn't overwhelming but still has many items to pick from and its always a challenge picking something because everything sounds delicious. I really love this place! Got take-out the other night, and it was possibly the best meal I'd had in a long time. I had steak and the shrimp enchilada combo, it comes with beans, rice, tortillas AND side salad with their amazing avocado/cilantro dressing. The steak was served with sautéed onions, peppers and mushrooms in a perfectly flavored sauce. It was ample food, enough for two meals. I love the friendly atmosphere and for dining in, the back patio is a great, jungle escape from the bustle of main street. Looking forward to my next visit. read more

This is the best Mexican food restaurant I have found, ever. I have lived in Mexico before, for 4 months, and this is not like the food I had down there, but it is great California Mexican food, which I love. I always get Crispy Chicken Tacos, Burritos, and Enchiladas. Those are my favorite, I have had a chimichanga, really good, but so rich for me. I am a Crispy Chicken Taco guy. I could not imagine my world without them. The only thing I don't like about this restaurant is that it is closed on Tuesdays, because I wish I could have it every day. I have brought some of my friends from Mexico, as in have Mexican passports, and even they say it is amazing and they wish they made food like this in Mexico. Lets just say, the quality is very good, and the service is great, and it is always incredibly fresh tasting. read more

This place made me realize how much I hate $hitty Mexican food. This place fits that to a tee. I almost think all $hitty Mexi joints get their food from the same place. The carnitas was bland, the beans burnt and the chile Colorado was like Hunts. Speaking of canned foods, the salsa seemed like it was that pace crap from Piggly Wiggly. The waitress was not present, but after she heard they left the chicken out of our daughters burrito, she checked back in. The busboy (dont have a name) was great...earned them one star. This is probably my favorite Mexican restaurant to come to in all of Sonoma county. I have been coming here since I was a wee tot & have always had wonderful experiences. The patio in the back is so fun & colorful & it feels like you're eating in a jungle! The staff is always friendly and the service is great! Not to mention the food....is amazing! The first ten times time we went it was ok. The next time it was awful. My taco salad was dry, the lettuce limp, the man at the counter EXTREMELY rude. It's better than el favortio that's the ONLY reason we kept going. Now we make the drive to 4th street to la rosa. It's worth the drive. Don't waste your time or money in this town on Mexican food. Oof. This meal was depressing. Can't understand the rave reviews this place gets, but it makes me think people in Sebastopol have no taste. Let's start with the positives: -Fast service. -Friendly waitstaff. But neither of these things are my big concern when I get Mexican food. I just want the food to taste good. On to the negatives: -Salsa was bland, not spicy, and tasted overwhelmingly of pepper. -Salad was iceberg lettuce drowned in a sad "creamy avocado" dressing that was indistinguishable from Ranch. -Margarita was unforgivable! It's made with wine, which should have been a red flag. It basically tasted like super sweet margarita mix with no discernible alcohol or lime :( -My partner's chicken burrito was bland, mushy, and salty. He asked for some salsa verde to liven it up, but it never came. -I ordered the chile verde and it wasn't offensive, just bland. No spice or depth of flavor. -The fact that the food came out almost instantaneously signaled to me that there was not a lot of cooking from scratch going on behind the scenes. All in all, a pretty demoralizing experience that left us feeling yucky afterwards. Don't waste your time with Martha's--head over to Sebastopol road in Santa Rosa and enjoy any number of its fabulous Mexican restaurants. read more

So disappointed with this place. The restaurant has the worst decor ever, to start, and is dirty. I got a bad taste in my mouth before we'd even started... I didn't like having to wait so long, even though it wasn't busy, to get the menu, our sodas, our food. I have a pet peeve with cheap plastic bowls for salsa trays, they just seem so unappetizing. The food itself, too spicy, just not good at all. And I love Mexican food. We were told this place is good, and will not be back. I'd rather go to Chevy's in Santa Rosa. read more

This place is awesome! Food is delicious, great selection of fresh and homemade ingredients. Service is excellent! The chile renellos are delicious, packed with awesome stuff like prawns, papaya, and topped with fresh avocado. The flan is amazing and I don't always like flan, but theirs is creamy and heavenly. Everything here is great from the chips & salsa to the soup, salad, dessert, and everything in between. This was actually the place where my boyfriend and I first met, so it is a special place for us. We've been here a few times but we will be coming more often because it is just so good!! read more

My husband and I love Martha's! They bring salsa and bean dip to the table (complimentary) and both are delicious. We usually scarf them down immediately. Lol. I found this place through yelp and decided to try it out. I ordered the chicken burrito and was blown away. For $9 I got a huge huge burrito that tasted amazing. The best part of the burrito was the chicken, which was tender and juicy all white meat shredded chicken. Another great part about this place is the service. When I sat down within 3 minutes I was served chips and salsa, and a really great bean dip. The outside seating on the patio was also really great. read more

My brother was visiting from the East Coast and wanted some good Mexican food, so we tried Martha's yesterday after visiting California Carnivorous plants, and this place did not disappoint! He had their Chili Colorado, which had an amazing depth of flavor. The enchilada suiza was excellent as well, packed full of roasted chicken and topped with a delicious green sauce. It's a tiny place and parking is limited, but it's well worth it. The amount of take out they were doing shows the locals know a good place when they see it (or taste their food)....so I'll be back again to try more of their menu, like the tamales! read more

By far BEST in town for real Mexican food. Hard to find good food in Northern California as I am used to good Mexican being in San Diego. All ingredients are fresh and not overly greasy like the other restaurants down the street. In Sonoma county most Mexican restaurants are heavy on the lard and grease. Few are healthy and lite. I spent two nights in Sebastopol, just coming up for a weekend from San Francisco. The first night I went to Barrio Cocino whatever, and, well, I left a review there, too. I don't even Yelp review often! Anyways, my Mexican itch was not scratched and so I came here the next night. A real, actual MEXICAN RESTAURANT! Be still, my Texan heart! I grabbed a table on the back patio, and they brought me chips and salsa and bean dip right away (for free). The patio is silly but wonderful. The menu is extensive with all the tex-mex dishes you might imagine. The beer was cold and came with a glass and a lime. The young ladies working there were super friendly and very attentive. The enchiladas Cancun were fresh and hot with melty cheese. The hot sauce I got upon request was made in house and spicy! My heart and belly are so, so happy. Thank you, Martha's Old Mexico. My family and I have been going here for 15 years. Martha is an amazing person who really cares about her restaurant and customers. They are always friendly and pleasant and the food is AMAZING. Ask for a side of the creamy guacamole ranch to go with your chips or meal it is THE BEST. Their shredded chicken tacos are my fave. I find the reviews about "unidentified meat" or "canned" food comical. There is nothing unauthentic about this food. Anyone who writes a review of 1 star is just having a bad day. read more

Martha's is a good and somewhat unique Mexican restaurant in Sebastopol. I'm not sure if it's supposed to be a regional type of Mexican cuisine, but it's not a taqueria. You sit down in nicely carved chairs at wooden tables. The decor is tropical. One thing I really like is the hot bean dip that comes with the tasty chips. More places should do this. The covered and heated back porch is nice in the winter. read more

My wife and I like to come to town just to eat at Martha's Old Mexico. They have an avocado dressing that is slightly spicy and really makes the salad zing. The back garden area is where we like to sit because of the feeling of being outdoors. The food there is always fresh and great tasting with the right amount of heat. I like the ample chips and salsa, but tend to eat too much. It's good that they have take away boxes because I usually have to take some home for the next day. read more
