I needed to pick up trays of meat early this Thursday morning, so I arrived at 9:00 a.m. because both the posted hours on the door and the hours listed online say the business opens at 9:00 a.m. When I arrived, there were already three groups of customers waiting outside. Through the glass doors, I could see employees inside working, so I assumed they just needed a few extra minutes to finish setting up. I waited until about 9:20 a.m. before knocking on the door, but none of the three employees inside acknowledged me or the other customers waiting outside. A simple acknowledgment or a quick "We'll be open in 10 minutes" would have been appreciated. Instead, we were left standing outside with no communication. By 9:30 a.m., I left, and the other waiting customers did the same. If your opening hours have changed or you're opening late, please update your posted hours or communicate with customers. Losing multiple customers first thing in the morning over a lack of communication is disappointing. read more

Decided to have some tacos for lunch and came to Hernandez for the first time. Love that I can order online and it's the same price as in store. We got to try their quesabirria, tacos (asada, carnitas, al pastor, buche) and tamales. Unfortunately, didn't get a buche but instead of another carnitas and then didn't get the chicken tamales but 2 cheese ones. Overall the food is good especially at such affordable prices. I am surprise that the tacos are $2.69. One complaint I have is that I wish the give up more cilantro and onion along with a bigger container of salsa.... It overall pretty good. This place is delicious! Whether you order one of the great hot plates, or snatch up something to cook yourself. I highly recommend their pico de gallo and ceviche...so fresh and delicious! Well now that I'm 72 years old it's official.... I've eaten over 1 million tacos. Good and bad. Pretty and ugly. Ridiculously expensive in tourist 5 star resorts and others in Mexico City street shacks that cost pennies. The tacos here are up at the pinnacle of quality, flavor, presentation and satisfaction. Absolutely delicious. The short menu is displayed on the video screen behind the cash register. Order, pay and wait maybe all of 4 minutes for the food. There is one small table with 4 chairs outside on the patio. Nice folks. Lingua tacos were lacking meat but really great flavor. Also got a super burrito with no guacamole. Worst burrito wrap ever. First 70 percent were all rice. Then all meat in the other 29.9 percent with the cillantro/onion /salsa. Then a little cheese in the very end. Not sure if there were any beans but no sour cream for sure. All of the ingredients were really tasty but the way it was wrapped ruined the whole experience. I came across a few reviews of Carniceria Hernandez that piqued my interest, so my wife and I decided to check it out. As soon as we walked in, we could tell this place was exactly what we were looking for--tons of great products, fresh meats, and even some in-house prepared foods that immediately caught our attention. The staff was super friendly, offering to explain the different prepared dishes and even giving us samples. We tried the carnitas and the birria, and both were delicious. I did pass on the menudo since I'm not a fan of tripe, but everything else was spot on. My wife went for a vegetarian burrito, and I opted for the Birria De Res. I have to admit, I totally forgot to snap any pics of the food--next time for sure, ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ We also picked up a couple of cheese and pepper tamales, which were amazing. Once we got home, we dug in, and everything was just as tasty as we hoped. We're definitely giving this place two thumbs up and wholeheartedly recommend it. Parking is not an issue, as it can be for other popular spots in the area. I was greeted with a smile and warm welcome by the woman who took my grill order. I ordered a 3 tacos with a side of rice and beans. I wanted to try different meats since this was my first visit; carne asada, marinated pork, and tripe. Wow, wow, wow! To my surprise, the tripe was my favorite. It was like crispy, fatty bacon goodness on a taco. The other meats were stellar and I'd order them again. The prices are super comparable, especially for the portion of meat on each taco (I imagine it's generous due to the nature of the meat market itself). The inside was super clean and organized. It also has a little kitchen with a decent number of menu items to take to go. I've had a super burrito with adobada & it was big and yummy! The chips are crispy, not too thick, with good flavor. The salsa verde is mild & bright. The salsa roja packs good spice kick. The pork, chile/cheese, & chicken tamales are all tasty. We LOVE this place. We have frequented for a few years now and they never disappoint. We usually just pick up carne asada for grilling at home.
