I recently had allot of work done, almost 4000.00. I've had a good history with the father and son establishment, although just tire work. This time shocks struts, tires, breaks and much more. Needless to say when I picked the car up a loud thump coming from the passenger rear and very shaky steering wheel. I brought it back and they said they didn't hear anything and it maybe the small bag of tools in the trunk, which I knew it absolutely wasn't. Nevertheless the son agreed to replace the rear strut thinking it may be defective. When I picked it up the next time I was only charged labor but it was still thumping. The father told me ya know the car is getting old, even though the thump was never there before the work. Anyway upon doing a very little research, my particular car must have different bushings if aftermarket struts are used otherwise there will be an unnoticeable gap and cause a thump. He rebalanced the tires to address the shaky steering which worked great but charged me again to balance. So I paid twice to balance the tires properly and still dealing with the thump. I refuse to go back at this point reason being they rip the back seat apart with grease all over as well as not reassembling the correct way. Oh ya the breaks have been squealing loudly since I picked up the car the first time, my guess is cheap parts. The son is more approachable and easier dealing with, the father is very ignorant. I have been a customer of Martin Tire for several years now. I came in on 02/03/22 with a tire that had some type of slow leak. I expected I was going to need a new tire. Martin tire inspected the tire and showed me that the tread was still very serviceable and recommended patching the tire for $35 (two nails), as opposed to buying a brand-new tire for $110. I was in and out without an appointment in 40 minutes. Thank you, Mike Sr and crew for your fast, friendly and cost-effective service! This used to be my go to place for not just tires but for repairs as well. My last experience has left a very dissatisfied flavor in my mouth. Such a bad taste I do not plan on returning. I brought my VW down for a timing belt, brakes and to diagnose and fix an issue with my cooling fans. Chuck at Martin Tire told me they could do the repairs no problem and quoted me a price that was great for the timing belt and the brake price was just a hair lower then the dealership. The fan would need to be diagnosed before a price could be calculated. I scheduled an appointment and brought the car down. They had my car from 8:00 - 12:00 when I got a call from Chuck telling me they don't have a tool they need to do my timing belt and won't be able to complete the job. He said they can still do the brakes and fix the cooling fans. Figuring I could get two of the three items fixed I said go ahead. At 2:00 I got a call from Chuck telling me my brakes were done and car was ready but that they couldn't diagnose the cooling fan issue because again they didn't have a tool necessary to fix it. This frustrated me since they had my car all day and the two things I really needed fixed he had failed to do. Why take a job if you don't have the tools. When I arrived at Martin Tire to pick up my car what was supposed to be a 500$ brake job was suddenly 650$ with no call to say that the cost would be higher. He went on and on about having to replace rather then turn the rear rotors. I paid the bill but left very disappointed. Unfortunately it didn't end there. I am rather handy rotate my tires myself, I tried to do so the following weekend and discovered that they had put the lugs on so tight that I snapped a craftsman tool trying to take them out. I returned to Martin tire and explained that I couldn't get the lugs off. I started out very calm. He barked at me that he put them on at the factory specs of 85 - 90lbs. I politely explained that I don't believe that to be the case since I couldn't remove them. I explained that if I got a flat tire I would have had to have the car towed since they wouldn't budge. He finally relented and said he would loosen them up. I asked him if he wouldn't mind just swapping the tires front to back since he was already removing them and I couldn't do that myself last weekend because they had been over tightened. Incredibly he told me I would have to pay for that. At this point I was past pleasantries but politely reminded him of the many people I had referred and the many trips that I and my family had made to his store. I was loud enough that employees and other customers all stopped and watched. He again was disrespectful and I persisted that I was a less then satisfied customer. After several minutes of a back and forth show for all those around he relented and agreed to swap them. While my experiences prior to this trip had been for the most part good I should have heeded my friends advice to avoid this shop after they sold him the wrong size tires and refused to rectify their mistake. Most tire/alignment shops won't even touch a lowered vehicle never mind have the knowledge to do a professional job. They even got my Acura cl dropped 2.5" on tein coilovers and an aero body kit onto their alignment machine without any issues or drama. Over the years I've had tires replaced and cars lined up. They made it right, no charge I needed replacement tires and bought two used tires from Martin Tire. They looked good and they were on the car in under an hour. Unfortunately, they had a leak and had to be topped off every couple-a-three days. I couldn't go back for two weeks but I brought them back. I had lost the receipt, but they made it right. In under a half hour they had fixed the problem and with no additional charge I was back on the road. I couldn't recommend them more. read more

I went there a while back to replace all my tires. Financially tight, I opted for used tires as they offer a guarantee ( I forget how many miles or months they offer). Anyway, I get them replaced, one week later, I got to do my state inspection. I fail, why, safety, tires. Upset, I go back to Martins with the paperwork. One of the employees comes out to meet me, I explain to him what happened and his response is, " well, you got used tires, sometimes you get a bad one, it's not our fault there is nothing we can do". I point out there "guarantee" , present my receipt for when tires changed and failed state inspection, this RUDE employee continues to argue and talk over me. Finally someone else came out from the voice as I refused to continue to have any further discussion with this person. To be fair, they replaced the tires, did an alignment for free and I passed my inspection, however the treatment I got when I went back to voice my concern was completely unacceptable. Been going here for years, never a problem, at least until now... Needed tires replaced in December and they told me needed brakes done too, to the tune of $600, but discounted because I bought tires at the same time. Paid around $450 total for the brake work, which seemed reasonable. Besides, I never had problems or reason to doubt them so I went ahead with the work. Got the usual guarantees, etc... all was well. Now, less than 3 months later, my brakes seem to be having problems, so I go back to Martin. They barely look at the car and tell me it "sounds" like it needs all the same work I just had done in Dec. but now will cost $600! After hearing that, I pulled out the work slip/receipt from Dec and asked how their guarantee would work against the cost of redoing the same work and suddenly, the problem was completely unrelated??? Needless to say I took my car else ware. The new shop looked at it, deemed the work in December needed to be repeated and either Martin screwed up the job or the parts they used were cheap/bad/used/etc. In the end, I had all the same work done over for another $450. (Apparently, had they not screwed up, the Martin price for the Dec work was pretty fair after all) So in the end, the problem isn't that Martin Tire overcharged me for the work or anything, it's that they either messed up the work or the parts they installed were faulty and even when given an opportunity, they refused to back up their work. I simply can't trust them after this. The way their stories changed about the problem and how they spoke to me also showed they couldn't care less about me as a customer. Crazy as it may be, I'd still suggest getting tires here because of their awesome prices and fast service, but must recommend you find a real professional mechanic for any other work that is needed on your car. read more

I was previously a long time customer. Was told my tire would be in "at noon" and I'd be called. I was never called,contacted martin tire at 1:30 to be told the tire wouldn't be in today. I asked to cancel order and was charged freight fees never mentioned before, was told I wasn't "promised". Unprofessional unethical. I've even brought all my kids and the owner gave them all matchbox cars for good behavior...great local place and great honest prices...I'd rather give the hard working local shop my business and trust that I'll always be happy. These guys are great. I called after hours yesterday about my flat tire and hoping to get it repaired since I had just bought new tires. I didn't expect a call back until the morning but they called right away. Told me to come in first thing in the morning. I did and they fixed my tire and put it back on in less than 20 minutes. This place saved my ass. I got a flat on the Mass Pike on 5 hours in to a trip to Boston, and it was beyond patching. Wasn't going to hobble around all weekend on a donut, let alone drive back 6 hours. A place down the road I stopped at first didn't have a used tire in my size - I gave Martin Tire a call after a recommendation from the staff at the other shop, they had one, and let me know it would be $60 plus tax and I'd be out in 15 minutes from when I got there. That was 100% accurate. Is it a like-new tire? No, I wouldn't expect that, and if I wanted that I would have just bought a new one. I got what I needed, it was cheap and quick, and it got me both to the city and back home. If you ever find yourself in a similar situation, call 'em up. read more

Do not go here. They take advantage of people. I went on 10/12/16, to get a new tire and alignment. They charged me $160 and then tell me I have a bad tie rod. He then brought me to a newspaper article and said "I don't mean to scare you but this is what can happen." Article was about someone crashing and dying due to tie rod breaking. I'm a single mom of 2 kids! He did it on purpose. Has another guy "do" the alignment and writes on my paper "best possible alignment" for $70. I didn't know till after but how can you do an alignment with TWO bad tie rods? Then refused to realign it 4 days later cause I had someone else do the tie rods. Claims that's why I needed another alignment I put new parts in. They couldn't of even aligned it with bad tie rods and never should have taken my money. Took advantage of me because I didn't know better. Then tells me well ill now do it for $60!!! O and by the way they only told me about one bad tie rod. They would probably of magically found the other one when replacing first one. Which is funny cause the tire I had them replace was not the bad tie rod they told me about. Was opposite side. You could see when you took tire off how bad it was. If they would told me this before hand I would have never paid to do it and would've fixed first then got alignment. I came here after reading the article in the T&G about the family business. I like to reward good businesses with my money. I came in due to irregular wear on my tires from not rotating them enough. They took me in quickly and swapped out the tires. I would have given the business 4 stars but after my tires were remounted he Tried to sell me along with everyone else that came in the door shocks/struts/springs. I was told my tires were wearing irregularly because I needed new shocks and struts and was quoted $500. I then drove immediately to my regular trusted mechanic who inspected the vehicle and confirmed that he was blowing smoke and that his statement was false. I would have gone to my regular mechanic but they are always backed out a couple weeks for good reason, because they are honest, professional and won't try to upsell you...not the case here. i was visiting a friend in worcester while driving suddenly my brakes went as i was far away from home i stopped by this shop...these guys are real scammers i went there to get breaks pads and rotors for the front as i though it was the issue...the guy im guessing chuck! told me i would also need calliper and that i must leave that car with them all that without even looking at the car and quoted the parts and labor at $800?? it was getting late and i was with my 4 year old son had to get home drove the slowest i could and used the ebrake...went to a shop in my town and the mechanic he drove the car in and told me to hold on while he lift the car right there he showed me that the break line was broken and he would fix it for $160. glad i didnt let Martin tire touch my car...so hey do yourself a favor a avoid going to this place! even if you wanna ask them a question NO! read more

Martin tire are crooks. My nephew went there to replace oil pan on his Hyundai. My trusted mechanic who owns his own shop was on vacation for 2 weeks. They charged him $400. (My guy said he would of charged 2- 250) after he got the car back it was very loud.they told him he needed a new flex- pipe. Another $200 to replace the oil pan you have to take the pipe out.they must have broken it. And expect him to pay for it. B.S. like i said they are CROOKS read more

Went in to Martin Tire to have my winter tires mounted. He blasted me with upselling and of course nick picked and called it a safety issue! They sell used and no name brand tires. Their work crew is constantly changing and huge turnover of employees. Greasy dirty old place. I had to go back for a mistake they made and he of course doesn't accept responsibility and hit my credit card again! Ended up going to their competition and fixed it RIGHT!! read more

A few years ago I got a quote for some snow tires (Bridgestone Blizzak), good price, still have them for my odyssey, was pleased. This year I was looking for snows for another car, went on tire rack and called around, the owner said they would get me the goodyear ultra grip that I researched and wanted at a better price, i really wanted a studded option too but he said he didn't have that, i will go with local if even a little more money, i wasn't around for the install, my wife went as I was traveling, a few weeks later when I see them on the vehicle i noticed they are studdable! well i called up and was confused, also they are a company i never heard of called champiro, researched and its chinese and got the lowest possible rating from a canadian government site (to their defense people give them awesome rating at tire warehouse so i am confused but people didn't do tests I guess), tire rack has nothing on their site and they test them on hockey rinks, the receipt say I was sold a PREMIUM SNOW, sorry chinese no-name doesn't SHOUT premium to me, anyway after lots of back and forth research because no one had the Goodyear, tire rack said they have a narrower (slightly) tire that would work and its rated near the top with the blizzaks that are out of stock, they also perform usually better than studded unless on a straight with ice that's the only way a studded beats out a non-stud, martin said they would order, they were there fast, the guy on the phone agreed i didn't need to pay anything even if they were more money (was saying I could pay another 30% more for blizzaks if he could get) ridiculous, so i went down and even when I was having them installed he was still telling me how it costs more.. each was $76 each his cost before, new ones he paid $120 for each, sorry bud.. I wanted a premium which you sold me and your receipt says premium at $120 each, looks even to me, well anyway, watch out! they didn't even put the name of the tire on it.. I didn't even want to be in the same room with him, ridiculous, not sure what they were thinking, pull a fast one on my wife or couldn't get what he promised and threw something else on, no excuse, the guy said he sells these all the time to people, great, for him but I don't see how you can write PREMIUM when they are generic and charge $40 more for tire then cost, that's 50% markup, when I can get premium (real tested premium with lots of miles that I can do research on) for the same price and just have them shipped somewhere and installed at $15 per tire. read more

I used this place years ago and they seemed ok so thought I would try them again. The owner quoted me $600 for a new set of snow tires installed. I ordered the tires and made and appt for a Saturday morning in early Dec. when I got there they claimed that the place they order from "lost the order" It was snowing and I really didn't have a lot of options. Long story short, I ended up getting up-sold into a set that cost $900 all together. These have been the worst snow tires I have ever owned, I got stuck 3-4 times last winter. When I researched these "high end tires" I found out that they are a snow tire designed for both snow and highway performance especially at higher speeds which wasn't what I needed at all. The owner said he would take care of me in the spring when I needed to swap them over. I just talked to him about swapping my tires over and all he offered was to do it for $75 instead of $100. Really??? Now I'm stuck with a set of expensive snow tires that I'm not happy with. The owner sounds great on the phone but this was clearly a greasy bait and switch. Not Recommended... read more

I've gone to this place a few times in the last couple years by recommendation for tire issues - and they have given me the best automotive service experiences by far. They're very helpful, knowledgeable, and it's evident that their goal is to get you in and out quickly with your best interest in mind. I have had family and friends go there too, and no one has ever even said one bad thing. Best experience with a tire installer in Worcester so far. When I arrived, the owner was waiting for me. He took the car keys and his crew got to it right away. They asked me if I needed anything else done in the car and it happened that the car was due for an oil change and alignment so I asked them to do it. By the time I was done with coffee and donuts the car was done and I was driving out with super set of tires at a great price with no hassle. Will definitely go there again. read more
