I have been coming to this dry cleaners for twenty years now. I now live in Lake Merritt district in Oakland, but I still come here because they are the best. June has helped me for years now; she and the rest of the staff are very courteous and very efficient. My shirts come back in impeccable shape, and they do an amazing job on my comforters and quilts. They always come back sparkling and like new. I have tried other dry cleaners mainly for convenience sake, but none compare to Martinizing at South Shore. They pay attention to details that other cleaners do not, plus I get my cleaning back very quickly. I am a big fan. read more

The employees there are always kind and provide great customer service. Everytime I drop off clothing, it is usually always ready for pickup before the expected date. I've only recently started coming here for my dry cleaning, and I've really enjoyed it. KJ has been incredibly helpful each time I've come, offering to help me out to the car when I've had my baby with me, and working with me on the total price (some of my shirts would cost extra to clean, putting this place out of my price range, but she waived the extra charge). Most importantly, my shirts, pants, and ties, especially the ones that have had food stains, have come back looking great. These guys are amazing. I have been going into the store for years and sometimes still go in even with their free delivery service just because I love to see them. Everyone at Martinizing is so friendly and helpful. I met the owner, Grant a couple of years ago and he is very nice and cares so much about every customer. Amazing customer service by June! It was my first time at the dry cleaners but she made the process easy and made me feel comfortable. When I inquired about the possibility of getting these stains out of my jacket, she was honest and told me that there was no guarantee but they would try their best. As a student in college, I often find myself having to dress professionally either for job interviews, fraternity events, or pretentiously-themed parties, but I seldom have the time to take my clothes to a cleaners. After doing business with the Alameda Martinizing, I can honestly say that I am 110% satisfied with their promptness, dependable customer service, and exceptional quality cleaning. A lot of people might be fairly apprehensive to see "1-Hour" in the title of a dry cleaners, but I can assure you that your treasured items are in good hands. No rushed service and poor handling of items here. I don't own a large wardrobe of expensive, fine material clothing, so whatever delicate dry-clean items I possess, I try to maintain their condition for as long as possible by trusting this business in this particular location. To conclude my experience here, I would highly recommend this place if you ever find yourself looking for a dry cleaners that handles your clothes with great care and charges you much less than they should. Do not use this dry cleaner. We used them three times, hoping each time the service would be better, but it only got worse. EACH AND EVERY time our garments are returned missing buttons and hooks on skirts are ironed over and unusable. In addition, the service is beyond rude and unconcerned. I am so frustrated with the service/result at this location we will no longer go there and will pay more to avoid this awful business. UPDATE: I went today to pick up two items that were returned to me without buttons; when I went in they told me that anything that comes to them with "removable" items (although buttons are not removable...) they just "toss the items" away, so be sure "you remove everything from the garment." In telling me this, the lady at the counter made a tossing motion. Moral of the story, if you want even a decent job, don't go here. read more

I wish I could give them zero stars. A few months ago I brought in several items, including a black silk blouse. The blouse came back with weird white stains on it. I tried to hand-wash it, but the black pigment is gone. Luckily, the spots can be covered by a suit jacket so I didn't have to throw the blouse out. I thought I would give Alameda Martinizing another try. For a few months there were no problems, but then this past Monday I went to pick up some suits I had dropped off. I didn't look before packing them for a business trip out of town, which was a BIG mistake. Getting ready in the morning, I notice that buttons on both suits were broken in half. Someone at the Martinizing knew about the broken buttons because one of the half-buttons had been sewn back onto the suit...backwards! Had they just told me that the buttons broke, I would have been annoyed but okay with it, but to try to hide the fact that they screwed up my suits by sewing broken buttons back on and not even doing it right is just about the worst customer service possible. DON'T EVER USE ONE HOUR MARTINIZING.... unless you are in the mood to get your garmets returned to you damaged. I dropped off my husbands suit to be pressed and it was returned to us with a hole and possible burn marks on the collar of his jacket - he can't wear the coat and the attendant at the dry cleaners failed to mention to me that they had SEVER LY DAMAGED his suit. I am outraged. When I called this afternoon to discuss, I was basically told that nothing can be done until at least Tuesday... when I asked how we would be compensated the manager said it would be up to the owner. Suits are expensive and it's ridiculous that this place wouldn't even let us know that there was a problem. read more

This place is a BIG DISAPPOINTMENT! I came here because of the hours they offer but the QUALITY of service is POOR. I brought my uniform here the first time and they gave me double creases down my pants and hair everywhere on my uniform. I brought it in a second time because I had a coupon for $5.00 off and wanted to give them another shot. I also advised them to make sure I don't get double creases and they noted. Today, I picked up my uniform and it had double creases in the front and rear of the pants but not as bad as the first time. They also had double creases in the front of my shirt as well and there was even more hair. I called them to complain but was directed to contact the manager, JOEL, during the day between the hours of 7:00 AM and 2:00 PM. These hours don't work out for me. I don't understand why people keep bringing their clothes (especially uniforms) to this place. read more

Worst Service I have ever experienced plus they are absolute flat out liars! Every time I have ever brought something in there they tell me one price and then charge me a different price when I pick it up which is usually about twice as much as they told me when I drop the clothes off. I started using the service several months ago and extremely impressed by quality of their work and service! Work is impeccable and very fast! Before you know your laundry is all done and beautifully folded. Few issues I had were resolved immediately. They get back to me right away and make sure that I am happy and it is all ok! They do their best, to make their customers happy! Their VP of business development gets back to me over the weekends and escalates any issues that I have to make sure that everything is resolved to my satisfaction! The follow up with you and have made my life so much easier! I just wish I could get hold of their customer support during non business hours in case of emergencies!! The price for their wash and fold service is a bit steep but well worth it, they do a good job of neatly folding, sorting, pairing and then packing the washed laundry into zip up bags. As a person who absolutely hates doing the laundry this is a godsend. Our household is a family of 4 and the first time we got the laundry done we put some of it away but it was packed so neatly and the clear plastic of the bags made it easy to see everything that was there, so we just left it like that and it was extremely convenient. The first time i came in I had 90 pounds of laundry and at 2 dollars a pound, my jaw hit the floor when i realized how much I'd be shelling out to get it all done. They ended up misplacing a couple bags of my laundry, I didn't even notice because we have so much. After catching the error Bob promptly had a driver deliver the rest to my home. And told me I could have a discount on my next visit. Now we are moving and I've sworn to myself this will be the last time I'll pay to have the laundry done here because it's just too expensive. We need to just go through our wardrobe as a family and donate most of it because it's over a decade of cheap clothing that just builds up because we never get rid of old clothes. So I enter the business and brace myself, talk to the the woman at the front and inform her of my last visit, what happened, and what Bob had promised me. After not finding a note on my file they decided to call him, once they got off the phone she informed me "This service will be complimentary" ....and I'm like.....complimentary?.....like....free? She told me I was correct and once again my jaw hit the floor but this time because the price tag was $0 I've had a wonderful experience with this business, misplacing 2 out of 10 or so bags of laundry i brought in and returning it to me a few days late was a minor inconvenience and totally understandable. They made it more than right by me and to take that weight off my shoulders as i'm moving into a new place with my family is an ultimate boon, I am grateful. So I have decided that after I get all the laundry back we will finally give most of it away so we're not drowning in it anymore or having to move it to the new place. We are staying in Alameda and I will now give this business my continued support, my days of doing my families laundry will now be far fewer. Once we can shed some of the sheer volume of clothes we have the cost will no longer be an issue. read more
