Isn't it weird when you go someplace and everyone there is just CONSISTENTLY super duper nice and helpful and you're like... "when did this stop being a thing everywhere else?" I think that whenever I go into Martinizing because everything there always greets you with a smile and thanks you for using their service but it's not like they shouting a welcome when you walk in the door like some places. It's just very pleasant, attentive, courteous service. Anyway, they do a great job on my clothes when I've used them. They gave me a discount on my first order. One time I went to Old Navy and then dropped off a whole bag of clothes for laundering that still had tags and stuff - didn't phase them a bit. I have been going to this place for a while now, and it's perhaps the best dry cleaner I've been to. The staff are friendly and helpful, especially Perry who generally helps me with my orders. I am usually picky when it comes to wrinkles and unclean spots on my clothes, so I go through all the areas on each clothing while she takes note of it to share with the rest of staff. I have never been disappointed when receiving back my clothing. There have also been times when I need my pieces back the next day, and Perry has been able to help me with it. I've been using their sewing services for years and have even recommended them to friends. The voice done a great job for a reasonable price. I had a shock today. I took in 3 turtleneck shirts from Kohl's to have the sleeves hemmed. They never gave me an estimate and I never asked for cleaning, nor did they ask for my permission to clean them. In the past the alterations were around $10 a piece so I was willing to pay about $30 for the whole job. Well guess what? When I went to pick them up, they wanted to charge me almost $80.00! That's outrageous! So I donated the shirts to them and went back to Kohl's to buy new ones, currently on sale for $14 each. Next time I'll just hem the sleeves myself. read more

My Husband has been a customer with this place for years. I've always picked up from this place but never had anything done personally. My Brother recently bought Levi's and they didn't fit right. My Husband recommended getting them hemmed here. Veronica did miracles to a few pairs of his jeans. I'm not lying. Perfect color match up and her sewing technique is phenomenal. Wednesday the 27th I knew I needed my suit and blouse cleaned for a interview on the following Tuesday. My blouse was a button up to the collar. When I was putting it on my large chest would leave gaps between the buttons. I decided to see if Veronica could fix it. She was at her seeing machine and I told her my issue and she said it was not a problem. They also said they would have it done by Saturday! I was super impressed. No extra charge or anything for being done within 3 days on Thanksgiving week. Saturday I walked in nervous that my blouse would look funny or something, thinking the worst. Veronica hit a walk off homer with my blouse, NO LIE! To say she is magical is a understatement. The cherry on top was KJ, the phenomenal front desk woman. Super professional, all smiles. And they say customer service is dead, lol! What really got me was she told me my Husband could get a cheaper price on his shirts. I told her he has been coming for years and I'm sure he knows what he is paying for. Seriously, quality customer service and amazing work these people do. Aight here's the run down. I always drive by this place but never noticed a dry cleaning place. lol I dry clean, maybe once a year. And since entering adulthood, I've only dry cleaned a hand full of times. But I've never been to a dry cleaning place with such amazing customer service. I'm actually SHOOK as to how nice their customer service was. Dropped off my stuff on a Tuesday afternoon - was able to pick it up the next day. And it was available before the guaranteed time. What else was great was there is free popcorn on your way out. Another great thing was that you get $10 off your first dry cleaning order. I have mixed feelings about Martinizing Dry Cleaners. The prices are a little high. I believe I pay $2 plus some change per dress shirt to have them laundered. I used to ask for no starch because it made the collar so stiff it felt like it was cutting my neck open, but they never followed my instructions and continued to starch the collar. Whatever I would think to myself, I would just unbuttoned the top button and look like a half a slob. But the one thing that irks me more is that there is a sign in front of the store that says "In by noon, out by 4pm", and they always try to push it to "two days from now" or if I come in on Monday they say "How about Thursday?" Umm, it's 10:30am, can I have my shirts back today or should I change that sign to "in by noon, out whenever we feel like telling you it will be ready."? It's not like I get a discount for them to take longer to clean my shirts. I would understand if it was discounted for the longer wait. That being said, The employees are always friendly. It's open everyday except some holidays. And they are located in the same shopping area as Trader Joe's so since I shop there frequently, it's convenient. But after writing this review and seeing how the service isn't very good, I plan on taking my shirts elsewhere to have them cleaned. read more

Pros: (generally) friendly staff, automation (texts when your clothes are ready) Cons: they don't tell you the cost when you drop your clothes off, and there is no posted price-listing so you don't know how much an item is going to be until you pick it up and sometimes the prices don't make sense. For instance, I recently laundered (not dry-cleaned) two 100% cotton standard shirts. When I picked them up my total was $15.60, which felt like a lot to launder two cotton shirts. The person who rang me up agreed that it did seem to be a lot so she applied a $5 coupon to my order--which, that's nice, I guess--but it still shouldn't be $10.60 to launder two cotton shirts (at least not based on my previous experience with this establishment) . When I asked for my cost breakdown, the store clerk offered a vague reply --("generally, it's $3.70 to launder a shirt but the prices might be different based on the fabric or the buttons or the collar. There are a lot of factors that go into pricing."). But again, these were two basic 100% cotton shirts with standard buttons so I was hoping for my particular cost breakdown instead of a generally theory of pricing. I wasn't trying to be difficult: I just wanted to know so that in the future I can determine if it's worth it to launder certain items. But I walked away not really knowing why I was charged what I was charged, or how much I'd be charged for the same items in the future. The problem is not that the prices are high, the problem is that the prices don't seem to be fully standardized. The price you're charged seems to be based, in some part, on who happens to handle your clothes that particular day (i.e. I once laundered a kurta and it was $6, a couple months later I laundered the exact same kurta and it was $15). While they will adjust the costs if you complain, I would rather they just tell you the cost upfront so that you can make an informed decision, rather than going into things blind and hoping that there are no surprises when you pick up your clothes. read more

They clean my clothes for work and do a good job, and one time, I was a bit late like I wasn't going to make it there on time, so I called at like 8:59 PM or close thereto (they close @ 9:00 PM most days), and I asked them if they'd stay open for just another few mins, and they did, it was v nice of them :):) their prices r decent, I've had cheaper, but the cheaper ones I've gone to didn't get my shirts as clean, so I guess u "get what u pay for" or something like that, and they get everything done on the day they say they will or sooner, and when I ask for same day, they get it done on that same day, After a lil over a year of getting my dry cleaning done here, they're still doing a great cik job! ***UPDATED REVIEW*** Bob reached out after this review was posted and was truly wonderful in trying to make things right. He acknowledged where things went wrong, and went out of his way to right them and to keep us as customers. The efforts that he went to have bumped this review from 1 star to 4, which is pretty significant. While Martinizing is still very expensive, the service that Bon aims to provide is excellent. ***ORIGINAL REVIEW*** $2.69-$5.69 per shirt for wash/launder and press. They charge an arm and a leg for wash and press shirts. It was my mistake for not asking their prices, but I assumed pricing would fall within the range of what we have always paid at other cleaners. $75 bill for 13 shirts. The low end of what they charge for wash and press is higher than Rinse who picked up shirts from our house, laundered and pressed them, and then delivered them back to us... for less than $2.69 a shirt. Sadly Rinse doesn't operate in Alameda so we are looking for a new cleaner. I dropped the shirts off, my husband picked the shirts up. He assumed we had paid to have them dry cleaned it was so expensive. When I called to clarify, they told us we were charged $5.69 per shirt for someone to hand press the shirts because the shirts must have been silk, or linen. When I explained none of them were... they then said... maybe it was the buttons. One of the shirts has metal details on the buttons, all the rest are plastic buttons. So, yes we should have been charged $5.69, for one of the shirts. One of the hand pressed shirts was burned on the shoulder. To avoid all of this, when you are taking new customers, Martinizing should review pricing (or have it posted, and also point out garments that will be an extra charge. At any rate, we won't be back. read more

This was my first and definitely the last time I ever use Martinizing Dry Cleaners. I dropped off my LV scarf there a few days ago and when asked them to give me a price upfront I was told it was around $11 and that I would only pay when I picked up the item. When I picked it up the next day, they charged me $27 because it was and I quote " it's a Louis Vuitton and requires special treatment". Ummm, really? Just because someone brings you a designer piece doesn't mean you can play around with the pricing! It would have been different experience if they hadn't suddenly decided to change the price on me. Should have told me it was $27 not $11. Moreover, they left a small hole in my scarf (picture attached), was that the kind of "special treatment" they charged me extra? Although my favorites have all gone on - Fatima and Pam. Freda and JC are still anchored (for the time being). While many of these new younger employees don't have what it takes in my opinion - Alison. JC is friendly, attentive and all about supporting the customer in an effective and efficient manner. You don't see her in the back chit-chatting and ignoring the chime when customers walk in. She makes her way to the front quickly to assist customers.
