We did happy hour at this place, and it was well worth it. 2 martinis (Key West Sunset and Key Lime) and 2 glasses of wine for half price, plus 1/2 price tapas. We had schnitzel strips (a whole schnitzel sliced up), crab cakes (2 small ones), a tropical Waldorf salad and Brie with pear & pomegranate. One of my favorite restaurants in Key West. I've been here several times and every time it's the same experience. That's not a bad thing, I mean to say the place is consistent and lives up to what you would expect a fine dining place to be. Great food, the drinks are outstanding, and the atmosphere is very nice. The first time we had dinner here was for our anniversary, we arrived a little early and our table was ready but they asked if I could wait about 1 minute. They had to add a final touch to our table, flower petals and a nice little bouquet to bring in the look and help us celebrate! It was a beautiful touch and they went that extra step to make it a wonderful experience. I had the beef Wellington and my husband had the filet. Both were exceptionally done and the presentation was on point. Don't forget the appetizers! You MUST have the lamb chops! They were perfect with just a touch or spice that made them extra special. We found this place 2 years ago and were wow'd. Came back with high expectations and we were NOT disappointed. This place is amazing. We started with the escargot and the scallops florentine. Both were cooked to perfection. My husband had the blackened grouper special and I had the lobster Alfredo. Both of us were extremely happy with our choices. My dish had so much lobster in it that I couldn't finish it all!! We finished with the creme brûlée which is our favorite desert after a big meal. Another amazing dish. Not many places I give 5 stars but this was an amazing meal the whole way around. Excellent wine list (which in key west is strangely enough not all that prevalent) and the ambiance was wonderful. I just think simple is so elegant and the flowers were beautiful. We did go early - before sunset, so perhaps the service and attention to detail on the food were more easily done, but 3 out of 3 times this place has blown us away. Not good anymore. We've been going there for years, always a good experience. Now the waiters are pushy, they want you to finish and get out as soon as you sit down. We spent over$300. In the middle of dessert, the manager came over and told us people were waiting for our table. There were plenty of empty tables around us. When we left I told him that was really ride. My husband and a I visiting from ft lauderdale returned to this place after having drinks the last time we were here in April. We wanted to have dinner this time. WOW amazing dinner, extremely funny bartender TRIPP and also our amazing waiter TRIPP yes we stayed at the bar and had dinner he was that funny and extremely professional TOO. Informative with every detail of every special of the evening. Drinks were spot on delish too. My husband had the Black grouper with a buttery glazed topping with red and green peppers with asparagus and carrot purée mashed potatoes. Excellent his words, seasoned well favorable and extremely FRESH catch. I had the Airline chicken breast (yes I asked which airline "LOL") and the bartender just ran with the joke....the whole bar had opinions on which airline it could be from again all joking FUN. HOWEVER This dish was no joke it was a Chicken breast stuffed with fresh steamed spinish and manchego cheese and carrot purée smashed potatoes with a mushroom sauce. EXCELLENT period Highly recommend this restaurant and I gave it a very rare 5 star from us. It's that good....a guy next to us had the beef Wellington and it looked amazing and he concurred it was his favorite dinner here, as he is a regular. read more

We were at Martin's for Thanksgiving Dinner and can say we had an OK meal. I had the turkey schnitzel and it was excellent but the sides were cold and I could have used more sauce. I didn't get the cold sides as we were the first meal served for dinner. My wife had the lobster tail and it was overcooked and chewy. We ordered a chocolate martini, and received an espresso martini and after trying to figure out what it was, we drank half, they took half off the bill. I guess that was fair. I can't believe this experience. My first time in Key West, and my first time here. I insisted that we go (there were 7 of us) for a bit of a fine dining experience and for martinis. We were greeted by a rude waiter, who was not only happy that I was ready for my drink order but my other 6 friends were not (they actually wanted me to order while they previewed the menu) I asked for a martini bone dry (no vermouth) I saw the bartender putting vermouth in. I told him when he came back and he said oh she made a mistake. I'm thinking he didn't write it down properly. Two of my friends from the party ordered gin and tonics and they asked for lime. The waiter then said well the tonic water is club soda with lime. I said, what? No it's not. Tonic water is carbonated water with quinine. He then continued to argue with me on that. Literally arguing with a customer and he was clearly wrong. We decided not to get dinner at this point because outside of that, he was slow (we were pretty much the only people in the restaurant) and well a bottle of Cakebread Cellars Sauvignon Blanc was $90?? Really? A $30-$35 bottle of wine selling for $90? I get that you need to make a profit, but wow on this mark up. And when we said we weren't having dinner, well the waiter creepily kept coming over to wipe our table down, slowly and methodically. We ended up going to another restaurant only a few doors down, and the atmosphere, wait staff and food were delicious!! read more

Would go lower if I could. Had a reservation 30 days in advance for an outside table. A member in our party has a health issue which requires social distancing. When we arrived at the restaurant 10 minutes early we were told that they book all kinds of outdoor reservations and don't necessarily honor them. Given the Covid environment that we live in restaurants need to take these issues seriously. This was absolutely not the case at Martin's. They were disrespectful and rude in addition. read more

I normally like this place for their awesome happy-hour, but I didn't appreciate the staff today. I've been living here in Key West for the past summer and I regularly go to Martin's because the food is great, but today I had to go somewhere else. I ride my bike everywhere on the island and after toting my date and myself all the way and then being refused a table in the dining room (with AC) I decided to take my business elsewhere. I always dine in the dining room during happy hour whenever I go, but today they told my date and I that if we were ordering dinner we can sit in that room, otherwise no happy hour service. Though it looked like the people in there were enjoying the happy hour. Didn't make me feel good. Sad I won't be enjoying Martin's during my last 3 days here in Key West. Barring this experience, I've had a good time. I hope you don't run into this problem and you are treated like a welcome customer. read more

Great foods for happy hours. Everything was excellent, I would of given them 5 stars. But our bartender was so horrible we had to move to a table, she kept splashing dirty dish water on my drink. I'm sitting at the bar, big mistake! So we went to a table, our waiter knew we are here for happy hour 4-6. he didn't check on us till 6:03. So we couldn't orders any more foods or drinks. We went to this place last minute when a nearby place was closed. We usually don't go to eat on Duval. Most of the best places to eat are on the Duval side streets and parallel Whitehall and Simonton. We went in for the tapas but were convinced to get the live Maine lobster. It wasn't a tough sell. Some of the best lobster I've ever had! Excellent presentation and sweet, succulent taste. The apple strudel with ice cream took the cake (no pun intended). We don't recommend many places to eat dinner on Duval, but this one is a must. We look forward to trying again for some core menu items. read more

Alas, hunger and fatigue got the best of me and my date and after taking note of the dim lighting and a tropical allure, we settled upon Martin's. Escorted to the back garden, the experience was headed into good territory, but nothing really called out to me from the menu. Then our server, bless her heart, was awkward at best. This girl was just not on the same plane and succeeded in doing anything but selling us any of the menu items. Looking for a nice dinner on Duval Street which is full of Sloppy Joe's and Jimmy Buffet Dive spots, the description of Martin's in a Key West local guide caught our attention: "...one feels surrounded by European sophistication... in a chic cosmopolitan setting." While this would sound tragically cheesy anywhere else, it sounded like just what the doctor ordered in dive-y Key West. As promised there was decent, artsy, faux-fancy decor and service. The menu is set-up as a prix fixe with $29 or $39 dollar entrees that include one appetizer or dessert. I had yellow tail florentine that was covered with a layer of melted gouda cheese, that would've gotten cast off of Top Chef as cheeseburge fish filet. Eve C. got a pretty flavorless lamb osso bucco. While I'm allergic to shellfish, the people next to us seemed to be enjoying their snails, mussels, and lobster. As typical for many German-inspired dishes, kinda just ended up being heavy and flavorless. We were left w/o room to order the bananas foster that had caught our eye. If you want semi-fancy in the Keys without pretention, and you've got $100 to burn, give this place a try. But don't expect too-too much, k? =) read more

I'm surprised at some of the bad reviews here. I came here for dinner last night while in KW for the weekend and we ended up here for a late supper. Our waiter was very professional. He answered all our questions about particular items on the menu and checked in on us just enough to not be annoying. A couple of glasses of champagne were thrown in on the house, which was a nice touch (we didnt tell anyone but we were celebrating our Anniversary.. so it worked out) I had the Fettucini with Shrimp and my husband had the Yellowtail Florentine with Roasted potatoes and Spinach. This restaurant promotes itself as being the best and with it's classy looking storefront, one would assume so. however, this establishment is also the prime example of the famous adage; "don't judge a book by its cover." Now why was it so terrible, you ask? not knowing what to order, I asked the waitress for her recommendation. She spoke highly of the most expensive meal on the menu: veal stuffed with crab meat. I ordered that, and waited at least a lengthy 45 minutes with anticipation. When it finally arrived, the veal was about 30% grizzle and fat. yuck. I cut away all that and was left with a small portion of actual, edible meat and when i took the first bite an unpleasant sensation of something frozen in the meat hit me. It was the crab. The waitress even gave my dog a bowl of water, which is really why there's a fifth star. The food itself wasn't bad. I've had much better food, but Martin's was definitely acceptable. Yeah, so I heard good things about this place on TripAdvisor; why didn't I look here first?! Yelpers are right! Listen and don't go here! We went in for brunch, and as others said, it wasn't that busy. Pretty, upscale environment and a neat German-inspired brunch menu. Sounded good! The first indicator should have been our drinks - both my mango bellini and the bf's coffee arrived lukewarm, around the same temperature, in fact. And none of the rest of the meal was hot, either. I got the Toast Asparagus. It came out - the bread had built-in sundried tomatoes, which just didn't fit with the ham and gouda. The asparagus on top was either canned or frozen and cooked to mush, very offputting. And the hollandaise was gloopy and not cooked properly. The bf's crabcakes benedict tasted as though they were made with canned crab, and the eggs were gelatinous. He said the meal has turned him off to any sort bennies for a while. We won't be back! They explained to us that they had to cancel our reservation due to another party requesting to change their reservation from 16 to 20 people. How on earth did they think this was a good idea? Meh. The place looks really classy but it's totally out of place - what is it doing on Duval with all the wasted revelers and people looking for burgers and beer? Anyways, the decor and ambience are really nice - I'll give them that. It's pretty and classy and looks like a great date place. In the rear, they have a little outdoor seating area that's ruined by astroturf on the ground. It just feels weird. But that's nothing, because the food is completely underwhelming. It's not bad, but the prices you're paying ($100 a person easy including decent wine) dictate that the food should be spectacular, and other restaurants like Sevenfish, Latitudes, and Flaming Buoy Filet whatever Co. mop the floor with this place. I had a snapper filet drowned in some sauce - totally average. Someone at the table ordered another filet that was covered in hardened, melted PROCESSED CHEESE that looked like plastic. CHEESE on fish? American processed cheese? What the hell?! It was really revolting, and only because down the street at any of the other restaurants you can get a juicy slice of grouper delicately coated with coconut and lime. Skip it. go to Latitudes instead. It's way prettier and the food is spectacular, and it's cheaper. No comparison. read more

What a great place! Ty was our server and we decided to enjoy happy hour with a few martinis and small plates. Martin's did not disappoint!!! We started off with the Blue Martini along with scallops Florentine (scrumptious), the brie cheese (we should have ordered three servings), lamb chops (loved 'em) and mixed greens with a balsamic vinaigrette. We moved on to our second martini and it was a cosmopolitan...awesome flavor and yes real men drink Cosmos . The Citron Vodka, triple sec, fresh lime juice & splash of cranberry was mixed perfectly and entertained the palette. We ended up ordering the pate' of the day and tuna tataki to finish. All of the small plates we had were just simply delightful. I really enjoyed the Tapas here at Martin's and enjoyed trying such a wide variety of food compared to one main meal. Service was really good, I'll give them that much. I guess the thing I liked the least was the auto-gratuity. This is the only place that did it in my 7 days in Key West. I also didn't like that they didn't tell you and it almost felt sneaky the way they left the "tip" portion empty and glaring at you when they returned the bill. Maybe just me but I didn't like it all. It's too bad because our waiter would have got 20% or more except for that fact. I left it at the 18% they charged. The meal was ok. Nothing to write home about. We had the 2 course prix-fixe. I chose an appy & entree. My son chose entree & dessert. I started with Sea Scallops Florentine which was scallops sautéed with bacon & spinach then broiled with farm fresh Gouda cheese. Teeny, tiny scallops, warm cheese that was hardened, yet gloopy for lack of a better word! Very meh. For dinner I ordered the Jager Schnitzel which for some reason I thought would be great! It was not. The spatzle was tasteless and long stranded like spaghetti. It was not good at all. The schnitzel was ok but the mushroom sauce just kind of ruined it. I was very disappointed. I only ate a couple of bites and ate the rest for lunch the next day but it was not memorable at all! My son had the filet mignon and he said it was good but not great either. He also had the Bananas Foster for dessert which was again, not bad, but not great. I really was disappointed with this place though the decor and service were very nice. This place does not disappoint! My mom is of German descent and she greatly enjoyed the food (even the red cabbage which is a hard sell for her). Our server (unfortunately we have forgotten his name) was amazing. There were 5 of us and we had 3 glasses of wine, a martini, 2 iced teas, 2 cappuccinos, the brie and bread appetizer, 5 dinner plates (the osso buco was to die for), 6 sides, and 1 dessert (the apple strudel) and the total cost (including a tip) was under $350. It was a wonderful upscale family meal for our last night in Key West. My son had the fettucine with asparagus and is not a picky eater. I'm not sure if picky kids would enjoy it as much. Would recommend and will come back to Martin's if we ever stay in Key West again. read more

This place has terrific service though we never experienced it. I'll get to the food in just a moment. I watched as other tables were given handheld LED lamps to peruse their menus with. I heard a reading of the specials and descriptions of wines. I watched attentive service with the right balance of attentiveness and distance. At my table: - a reading of the beer list (4 beers), Then I get made fun of for my selection. - No description of specials - Told that lamb could not be cooked rare or medium rare (then don't serve it! IT'S LAMB!) - An honest accident later takes place at our table (not of our doing of course). No big deal except that we were kept seated at the table with soaked linen and where glass had just broken. - Upon getting our food no one approached to ask if all was well. - I had to grab the pepper mill and do my own grinding. No big deal I suppose, I like doing that. - There are inconsistencies and typos all over the menu. The food was good, not extraordinary but certainly good. The lamb, even at medium to medium well was quite tasty. My wife had a fantastic house salad of mixed greens and really tasty dressing (no Danish blue cheese however, as described on the menu). In short, this may very be a great restaurant. It's location is perfect. It looks great. And the menu is super tempting. I guess we just had the worst they had to offer. read more
