Food was not that good, the brisket was so dry that I had to sip water to chug it down. Also, the sauces they give are bare minimum, at least put a little more!!? We went right at opening and they were not busy but service was awfully slow. We were waiting forever to get meats, extra sauce (skimpy), grill change, other things. We were really tired and hungry from a full day of driving and shopping and we were craving KBBQ. This was the closest place to where we were so we went despite my sister saying their service had gone down a lot. We got there and waited less than 10 mins. I love the dim lighting. We then got sat and the host took 3 dirty cups that were just there on the table so we immediately noticed the table still hadn't been wiped down. The next thing I noticed was that our grill wasn't even set up. Our server came got our drink orders and we immediately gave him our order bc we were HUNGRY. I also asked about the sides since no one seemed to have them on our side of the restaurant and they said yes they had them, so I said perfect He then came back with our drinks and our meat, I then told him we had no grill, so he got that started. We waited a little bit then started throwing in the meat, still waiting for the sides. Our food cooked and the grill started smoking since they took a while to come by. He finally came back and switched it out and again we reminded him about our sides and we put another order of meat in. He finally came with the sides and I noticed that ppl around our table started asking about the sides too, mind you they were there before us so I thought it was weird that no one had them. He came with our second round and we cooked/ate it and he still hadn't came around again. By this time we had already been there a while and kept having to wait bc no one would come around. When he finally did come out we put in another order of meat and a side of gyozas. It took forever to come out, to the point where we didn't even want it anymore but we still cooked and ate. This was on a Thursday evening and the restaurant was not very busy but they looked very short staffed. The food was okay, the gyozas were my favorite.. all the staff seemed annoyed with their job and just didn't look happy to be there and my sister said it was like that every time she's been there. We were hungry and didn't want to go to a restaurant, and we found a deal on app for Gen Korean BBQ House at Rancho Cucamonga. The restaurant is trendy, kind of dark, reminds of pub or club in a way. Service is friendly and they are super busy. I waited around 5-10 minutes for my order. The food is 4 meats and 3 sides. Basically they bbq the meat of your choices and put them in a to go box with rice and japchae (stir fry glass noodles). Rice is okay, japchae is savory and good. Dishes are greasy, flavorful, and sweet. I love the calamari steak. Honestly, I don't know why I keep coming back here. Not by choice, at least. When I walked into the restaurant yesterday, it really hit me that Gen has become a brand that's trying too hard. Instead of focusing on maintaining the quality of the restaurant, it feels like the focus has shifted to selling as many products as possible. Beef jerky, chips, sauces, salt, soju, you name it. Every table feels like you're sitting next to a billboard. Then you scan the QR code for the menu, and before you can even see the actual menu, you have to scroll through advertisements. What are you guys doing? Now let's talk about all the products on the table. You would think they'd at least let customers sample some of the sauces. Nope. Every bottle was empty. And let's talk about the branding. My favorite part of any product is usually the packaging and design, but there was absolutely no consistency. It looked like every product was designed by a different company. Nothing tied together or felt like it represented the Gen brand. It honestly looked cheap. Again, what are you guys doing? I want to end this review with the beef belly. Yes, the photo you're looking at is beef belly. I didn't know beef belly could be cut as thick as a steak. To make matters worse, the meat came out frozen. What happens when frozen meat hits a hot grill? It seizes up and turns tough. I came back here after 5 years and gave this place another try. I guess it was still an upgrade to 2 stars. We came in on a Friday night and were seated promptly. Sadly, the grill wasn't fired up, and it took our server a while to come by with our waters and to take our orders. Even when the meat came to the table, I had to ask the server to please fire up the grill since it was still not on. Thank goodness we had ordered some sides like KFC and tteokbokki to hold us over while our grill was warming up. The standard side dish is very basic. You have to ask for everything else that you like, garlic, ssamjang, jalapeno, etc. The garlic had a really weird smell and taste, and when I brought it to the server's attention, he was kind enough to replace it with another portion. But even the second set of garlic had the same smell and taste, and it was just off-putting. The meat quality is subpar. The brisket was very lean and was just heaped on the plate; it was not very aesthetically pleasing when it arrived at our table. The steak and the beef belly were better. Pork belly was okay, and the spicy tofu soup was very salty! While I appreciate the sentiment of giving us the bowl of rice right away, the rice on top was dry. It was as if it had been sitting on the counter for a while before being served to us. While our server was kind to us, he kept forgetting what we had asked halfway through our dinner. Our water and sauces needed refills, and we had to wait a while for them to come. There was also another server that 'tailed' our main server, and she only comes by a second or two after our server checks in on us, so every time she comes by, we didn't really need anything since we'd already been checked in. Overall, the price is okay, the meat quality is meh, and if you're just willing to eat some mediocre meat with maybe good service, I'd say stay home, get some meat to grill, and enjoy it there. Giving this place 3 stars. First, the restaurant appeared understaffed, which caused long delays in service. It took quite a while to get a server's attention, and reordering meats was a hassle. Second, our group of seven was seated at one long table with only one grill, which made cooking very time consuming. By the time the meat was ready, there was very little time to actually enjoy it. Literally about 2 to 3 pieces of meat per person before having to start cooking again. Another concern was the slippery floor. Definitely something to watch out for. If you are not wearing non-slip shoes, there's a risk of slipping. As for the food itself, it was decent for the price, but I was disappointed with the very small portions of the side dishes. After that was corrected, we again brought up the missing dessert, but it was still ignored. Even after asking to speak with a manager directly, no manager ever came to address the situation. The only resolution offered was a small discount of about $15 and changing one of our all-you-can-eat meals to a kids' meal instead of an adult price. They tried laying mts down but all they did was soak up the watr. ALSO, the floor was GREASY as hell when i walked through the restaurant to our table. I almost lost my footing while walking slow each time. They originally sat us at a TINY table. My friend is 6'5 and i'm 5'10. Asked to be moved to be more comfortable. We dropped in around 10:45 and maybe waited 15 minutes to be seated, which wasn't bad considering the amount of people coming in. Our table was very clean and our server was quite attentive. My experience at Gen Korean BBQ was extremely disappointing. As soon as we walked in, we noticed there was no air conditioning. It was uncomfortably hot inside, which made the entire dining experience unpleasant. We ordered a couple of Cokes, but they had almost no syrup and tasted like carbonated water. After waiting about 20 minutes for replacements, they brought us Sprites instead, but those also had no syrup and tasted just like club soda. Since this is an all-you-can-eat restaurant, we were surprised when our first round of meat came out in very small portions. We also ordered rice, but it never made it to our table. We had to ask for forks twice before finally receiving them. Our grill was only changed once. The second time it became badly burned, but no one came to replace it because we couldn't get any service. At that point, we had nothing left to cook and were just waiting for assistance. After all of the delays, missing items, and poor service, we told our server that we wanted to end our meal and asked for the check. To our surprise, they tried to charge us $180. We understand paying for the food we received, but charging full price after such poor service and an overall terrible experience was unreasonable. Unfortunately, this was one of the worst dining experiences I've had. Between the lack of air conditioning, flat drinks, missing food, slow service, and being charged full price despite all the issues, I can't recommend this location. Two of our appetizers didn't even come in until the end of our two hours there. And if anything is a manager, walked by and asked us how we were doing it in the middle of our dinner and we followed up About the appetizers and he said they were backed up . And that was after repeatedly asking about them. The same thing happened with our dessert at the end the manager followed up after waiting for about 20 minutes passing they were backed up. We finally did get the two appetizers at the end of our meal, but the fries were super soggy. The tables are small. Too small to accommodate most things. We didn't even get our El pastor, which was one of the meats we ordered. It seems like there more people then staff. It's crowed and chaotic. The food is mediocre at best. I'd rather pay $40 For AYCE somewhere else then $20 PP for terrible service. Only compensation we were offered was a soda. We never were offered a refill on our waters or napkins either. I'll start of by saying, the food hit the spot. My friends and I really wanted KBBQ, and KBBQ we got. However, that's about the only good thing about our experience dining here. We got here about 2pm on a Saturday. The restaurant was buzzing, but not packed - we only had a 10 minute wait before being seated. We were seated in the back corner of the restaurant. It was an awkward, cramped space for our party of five, but we pulled up an extra chair to made it work. The service was horrific. No one acknowledged us for 15-20 after we were sat. Considering we were sat in the secluded corner of the restaurant, there weren't many chances to flag down a server. We had to continuously flag down staff to take our orders, refill banchan, change our grill, refill water, etc. The servers were incredibly difficult to get a hold of throughout the entire meal and looked inconvienienced when we did manage get their attention. Another issue we were faced with is that we did not get the food we wanted. We ordered the Red Wine Pork Belly (amongst other things) 3 separate times and never got it. On the other hand, dishes that we did not order kept being sent to our table. Various bachan items also came out frozen. They were encapsulated in ice or had ice crystals, so we ended up throwing them on the grill like the pickled radish. This experience was a complete shock. I've always know Gen to carry themselves at a higher standard than what we experienced. I'm just greatful that the food we did recieve, we enjoyed. If you're going to dine here, I'd say come hungry and be ready for some difficulties lol. read more

Upon arrival the host told us that there was no wait but some of the tables were dirty and needed to be cleaned still so we sat down to wait. After 20 minutes and more people showing up the host called us up to tell us that "since no one is cleaning the tables it's gonna be another 5-10 minute wait and I'll check you in at the top of the waitlist because you have been here the longest" 10 minutes later he proceeded to seat 2 parties before us... and then he smiled and laughed and said we would be next. Gen has upped their meat game with a new premium menu. I had stopped going to Gen because other local Korean BBQ's had better meat choices. New to us at Gen was the carne asada, Al Pastor, skirt steak. It is definitely worth the extra $20 to get the premium meats. The Jap Chad was yummy and you can get bulgogi fries now. If you haven't been in a while, it is definitely worth a return visit. My only complaint is that the grill was getting super smokey and blowing my way. Very standard, casual AYCE Kbbq restaurant. If you're looking for high quality meat I would say don't get your hopes up, but if you're just wanting to indulge and your goal is quantity and getting to try a bunch of different meats, then this is a good place for that. We came here on a Saturday evening at 8:30pm and were seated with 15-20 minutes. The place is pretty big, it has a ton of seating and even has a second floor. It can get quite noisy as it's a busy spot, you can hear other tables talking and grilling, and every other person here is celebrating a birthday for some reason so the servers sing and cheer to a different table at the top of their lungs every 5 minutes. But again, this is a casual spot to hang with friends so don't come if you mind noise. Service was great, our servers Eduardo and Omar were very kind and knowledgeable about the menu! They got our orders to the table promptly and were super friendly - big thank you to them for great service even on a busy weekend evening when I'm sure they were running around stressed. Good was decent, most meats were too sweet, chewy, or fatty. But our favorites were the spicy pork bulgogi, red wine marinated pork belly, honey soy beef belly, kimchi fried rice, and Korean fried chicken appetizer. For dessert we ordered hotteok and the new mango sticky rice fried bites, both of which were really great. They also have macaron ice cream sandwiches. Overall it was a decent experience and no complaints other than that the ventilation is not great so you will definitely leave smelling like smoke and meat, but that's to be expected. read more

Customers should be charging for their waisted time waiting in the lobby and waiting for food. Horrible experience and no customer service. Would recommend that your waitlist remains updated and accurate. Would highly not recommend. read more
