I haven't been to Gen Korean BBQ in over 10 years and I was reminded on why. We were only here because we had the Costco gift cards. Food was not that good, the brisket was so dry that I had to sip water to chug it down. Also, the sauces they give are bare minimum, at least put a little more!!? We went right at opening and they were not busy but service was awfully slow. We were waiting forever to get meats, extra sauce (skimpy), grill change, other things. I probably will never be back since there are so many Korean bbqs around. Atmosphere was pretty cool.

My friend (who came from China) really wanted KBBQ and my mom had given me a gift card so I brought him here! It was alright, but I wish I had taken him somewhere slightly nicer? The beef brisket was EXTREMELY chewy and low quality. Usually at KBBQ places the first round is good and then after that the rest are kinda slightly worse, but here even the first round was tough... That was the only meat we tried as we were both kinda full LOL tho I think they mistakenly gave us beef tongue mixed with beef brisket the second round because it was way thick and different Otherwise the sides were so good! My friend said he liked the kimchi fried rice (I knew he would because it was spicy!! a lot of gochujang). The corn cheese was very small but exactly the flavor I was craving! Salad was well-seasoned. Korean fried chicken was okay. Soon Tofu Jjigae was... something lol they put a good portion of tofu and veggies, but the soup was very watery? Tho I think most KBBQ soon tofu is usually not the best anyways Liv(?) was our server and she was wonderful!! Came to help us every time we needed! Another server (didn't catch her name but she had really nice tattoos!) also helped us too! But yeah they were pretty hectic! They never checked on us except when WE had to flag them down. Twice our order wasn't registered (our first round of beef brisket was sent to the wrong table so we had to re-order it; our soon tofu jjigae was never made until we had to ask again). But it's understandable as they were busy, especially for a Wednesday night. Just fair warning Wanted to give it another chance after giving up on it almost a decade ago. Now I remember why I had switched to different KBBQ restaurants oops The peach soju was RLLY STRONG AND GOOD! The peach concentrate/juice was vv sweet :)

We were hungry and didn't want to go to a restaurant, and we found a deal on app for Gen Korean BBQ House at Rancho Cucamonga. The restaurant is trendy, kind of dark, reminds of pub or club in a way. Service is friendly and they are super busy. I waited around 5-10 minutes for my order. The food is 4 meats and 3 sides. Basically they bbq the meat of your choices and put them in a to go box with rice and japchae (stir fry glass noodles). Rice is okay, japchae is savory and good. Dishes are greasy, flavorful, and sweet. I love the calamari steak. Good to order when you want more protein and noise and good BBQ dinner at home without getting the smells of BBQ on your clothes.

Avoid this restaurant at all costs. It honestly looks like it's about to go out of business. Today was my friend's birthday, and we came here to eat. When we walked in, there was only one table of customers in the entire restaurant. The server saw us, completely ignored us, and looked at us with a very cold and unfriendly attitude. Fine. We stood there for about five minutes before a woman finally came over. I told her we had four people. She asked if everyone had arrived. I asked her, "So you can't seat us unless everyone is here?" She said, "Yes." Honestly, what the hell kind of service is this? So before my other friends arrive, I'm not even qualified to sit down? This is supposed to be a service business, yet they can't even provide the most basic level of service or respect. We turned around and left immediately. I came here to spend money, not to beg for a seat. If you can't give customers even the most basic respect, maybe it's no surprise your restaurant is completely empty. Do better -- or just close down already.

I came back here after 5 years and gave this place another try. I guess it was still an upgrade to 2 stars. We came in on a Friday night and were seated promptly. Sadly, the grill wasn't fired up, and it took our server a while to come by with our waters and to take our orders. Even when the meat came to the table, I had to ask the server to please fire up the grill since it was still not on. Thank goodness we had ordered some sides like KFC and tteokbokki to hold us over while our grill was warming up. The standard side dish is very basic. You have to ask for everything else that you like, garlic, ssamjang, jalapeno, etc. The garlic had a really weird smell and taste, and when I brought it to the server's attention, he was kind enough to replace it with another portion. But even the second set of garlic had the same smell and taste, and it was just off-putting. The meat quality is subpar. The brisket was very lean and was just heaped on the plate; it was not very aesthetically pleasing when it arrived at our table. The steak and the beef belly were better. Pork belly was okay, and the spicy tofu soup was very salty! While I appreciate the sentiment of giving us the bowl of rice right away, the rice on top was dry. It was as if it had been sitting on the counter for a while before being served to us. While our server was kind to us, he kept forgetting what we had asked halfway through our dinner. Our water and sauces needed refills, and we had to wait a while for them to come. There was also another server that 'tailed' our main server, and she only comes by a second or two after our server checks in on us, so every time she comes by, we didn't really need anything since we'd already been checked in. Overall, the price is okay, the meat quality is meh, and if you're just willing to eat some mediocre meat with maybe good service, I'd say stay home, get some meat to grill, and enjoy it there. I can't say that I'll recommend this place to friends and family.

Giving this place 3 stars. First, the restaurant appeared understaffed, which caused long delays in service. It took quite a while to get a server's attention, and reordering meats was a hassle. Second, our group of seven was seated at one long table with only one grill, which made cooking very time consuming. By the time the meat was ready, there was very little time to actually enjoy it. Literally about 2 to 3 pieces of meat per person before having to start cooking again. Another concern was the slippery floor. Definitely something to watch out for. If you are not wearing non-slip shoes, there's a risk of slipping. As for the food itself, it was decent for the price, but I was disappointed with the very small portions of the side dishes. Would i come back? Probably not.

Alyssa is over here on fire working the room. Busier than expected for a Thursday lunch (I'm guessing due to graduations) - but she's handling it like a champ. Food is delicious as always, meats come out fast. - wish there was a half portion option when ordering because it ends up being so much food for a table of 2. Place is such a vibe & love that they don't have the annoying fans in the middle of the table.

    Clot of hair in food
    Par H.

We found a clump of hair in our pickled radish-- not a single strand, but a wad of hair. We immediately notified our server, who said he would inform the manager. The manager never came. We had to remind the staff again, and still no manager ever showed up. On top of that, we ordered dessert and it never arrived. We asked about it multiple times, and each time we were told it would be brought out--but it never was. When we received the bill, it was actually the wrong check from another table. After that was corrected, we again brought up the missing dessert, but it was still ignored. Even after asking to speak with a manager directly, no manager ever came to address the situation. The only resolution offered was a small discount of about $15 and changing one of our all-you-can-eat meals to a kids' meal instead of an adult price. Overall, the lack of attention, communication, and basic service was very disappointing. I expected much better handling of food quality issues and customer concerns.

This is one of the best kbbq restaurants I have been to. The quality of their meats and sides are great and they have a lot of options. Our server Madison was really nice. Now the manager or whoever she is, Jessica, I didn't like her attitude or her energy.. If you don't like working in customer service or operate miserably than find yourself another job or be unemployed!

Can they accommodate large party of 60?

I don't see why not??? I would call the GM and ask.

Do they have kids' pricing, or is it one price for all?

It's one price for all but that's ok, just share whatever you order for yourself with your child. That's what I did with my toddler and it was enough food.

Is this place nut free friendly? I'm allergic to nuts and sesame seeds.

Yes I can tell them to don't cook with oils that have nuts and u can tell them no sesame

If my child doesn't eat meat dose she still have to pay for ayce?

Yes they do everyone gets charged that walks in that's why they make you wait till your entire dinner party is there

Just the right amount of salt and garlic, and what a crunch. The hot and sour soup, authentic and better than Chinatown. It's salty, spicy, vinegary, bamboo shoots was crushy too. The roasted duck was spectacular, crunchy skin and flavorful meat. Perfect seasoning. The orange chicken is a must. Crunchy and so so tasty.
