I had marvel cake booked marked for awhile. I finally decided to make a trip up here hoping that the juky 4th holiday with no traffic I can finally get to try the famous spiral croissant with no line. I got there around 10:30am and lines usually start forming at 9:45am. I called on Saturday and the staff was so nice. She said they make about 300 a day and when they sell out its gone. They also said the palo alto one sells the sprial croissant but only Monday thru Friday. Whereas, the one in Campbell sells them everyday. They have outdoor seating, but if you feel boogie dine inside. It feels like a fancy bakery with fancy seating. They also have other sweets but it's pricey. The tarts are about 10.50. And I know you are paying for the design and the time to make the desert. If I was not in such a rush I would have stayed and ate the spiral croissant there. I love and also hate that I heard of this place from Instagram because the spiral croissants are so good yet I hate waiting in long line :') The first time I dropped by, they ran out of spiral croissants so I ended up settling for one of their other sweet pastries. I honestly don't remember too much about it, but I will come here again for the spiral croissants! You do have to make sure you drop by pretty early close to opening hours to make sure they don't run out While it is a bit of a novelty item, I think the idea and the technique needed to execute this is incredible. And the price! I feel like I wouldn't have questioned it at all if this item was sold at a higher price. I've tried pistachio, chocolate and strawberry before. While the cream to croissant ratio was highly variable, I ended up enjoying all of them. Personally, I liked pistachio the best, then strawberry and then followed up by the chocolate. First time at Marvel Cake! Went on a Saturday morning, an hour after they had opened. There was plenty of parking since it's located within a mini plaza. There was some outdoor seating as well as indoor seating. The overall ambience was minimalist cafe vibes with the different pastries laid out in a glass case for you to look and choose from. Service was quick and kind! They noticed us struggling to decide on what to pick so the employee that helped us gave us some recommendations which we really appreciated :) We came specifically for their croissant wheels. It's literally round croissants with filling inside and icing on top. We got their three flavors- chocolate, matcha, and pistachio. We also got their regular chocolate croissant, strawberry tart and passion fruit mousse! We got everything to-go, except the chocolate croissant. The chocolate croissant was an average chocolate croissant to me. Nothing special, but it was still yummy. For their croissant wheels, I wish they put it in a separate to-go box because it kind of just touches the other pastries and makes a bit of a mess even if you are careful with the box itself. By the time we got home, the croissant wheels had a bit of the strawberry tart on it which we didn't exactly minded, just a would've been nice type of thing to have it separate! As for the taste, the matcha croissant wheel was my favorite. It wasn't too sweet and it did taste like matcha which I appreciated. The croissant was flakey and buttery and had a good contrast with the matcha! My family also agreed that the croissant wheels were a good consistency and good amount of filling! The aesthetic of the store is very cute, but there is very limited indoor seating! We ordered: - Red Velvet Mocha (Decaf) - While it looked very cute overall, the taste was not very flavorful or sweet and we couldn't really taste the red velvet flavor in the drink. - Choux à la crème - Pretty good! SERVICE This is what a fully staffed operation should look like. At 10am opening, there were 4 employees behind the counter ready and waiting to help us. And all were super welcoming. ATMOSPHERE and PRESENTATION The atmosphere and decor of marble cakes is easily one of the nicest experiences in Campbell. From the other reviews, we saw that they sell out pretty quickly so we arrived a bit after opening at 10am but there was already a long line. We ended up waiting for about 45 min to order and then got a box of 5 croissants (they had chocolate, strawberry and pistachio the day we went) and a leek & parmesan pastry. The croissants were good with a sweet flaky pastry crust and filled with cream. Overall, it was yummy but didn't live up to the hype. There was too much cream for me and it took away from the croissant and felt more like a cream puff. The flavors were also just ok - the pistachio was nice and nutty but lacked a bold flavor. Same with the strawberry which luckily wasn't very sweet but a little bland. The cream also makes the croissant soggy after a couple of hours so you really have to eat them fresh. I wanted to try the spiral croissant here to see how it compares to other spiral croissants. I came around 11am on a weekend and there was around 20 croissants left. Not sure if there's more in the back. They had chocolate, pistachio and a fruit flavor. We entered around 11:30M so the viral spiral croissant was already over(bummer!)They apparently get sold out in the first one hour of opening. The server greeted us with a big smile. This is the best bakery in the South Bay. My sister went here to grab some things for me. I basically got five desserts to try knowing that I will not be able to come back anytime soon. This is such a fancy and luxury bakery shop. All of the pastries and cakes were display so nicely. First thing I noticed was the prices especially those little cakes that costs $10. It's so pretty and I'm sure it tastes good, but omg that price though. I got the perla and one small almond bites while my friend got two red velvet cupcakes and two vanilla choux. I gotta say that the perla was really good. I love how there's lemon pieces sprinkle on top of the cream which adds more flavor to the overall pastry. The almond bites are small, but it's so crunchy. Aside from the small tarts, this time we purchase the Charlotte cake in the window display. The pistachio flavor was real and pronounced, $75 for quality! Once you get closer to the business location, parking gets a little tight but we found a spot with no issue. There was a line out the door. But they have a system in place to speed the process up. The interior is personally my favorite reminds you of a small Parisian bakery. The color scheme is greens, whites, and gold. The decorations are very pretty and elegant looking. We got a strawberry swirl croissant and a pistachio one as well. The pistachio one was my favorite but I was a little sad there was a little less filling than the strawberry croissant. Overall, the flavor was there. The soft and crispy texture texture of a good croissant was there. Very satisfied with my visit there! This was a 3 to 3.5 star experience for me. But my daughter felt it was a 4 star experience. Quality/Quantity - Today my daughter got a couple of each: Chocolate Croissants - The chocolate filling wasn't as rich in chocolate flavor as I was expecting. Pistachio Croissants - My croissant piece almost did NOT have any filling... Strawberry Croissants - Just okay, but not $10 ok. Tiramisu Tart - My favorite of the pastries. My daughter and her friends ate their patisseries and viennoiseries there, and we took the rest back home to share. Well, other than the tart, the croissants do not travel well. I even tried heating it up, both in the oven and toaster. Because we/she bought so many pastries, we were able to experiment, but sadly not one method worked. It would have tasted better if we ate it fresh. All pastries were picture perfect, even after traveling back to the rest of the family. Also available - Cupcakes, cakes, macarons, tea, coffee, wine/champagne (to go) and Marianne's ice cream. Atmosphere - Nice clean beautiful location. Minimum seating, mostly a to-go and catering business. Plenty of mall parking today. Service - Good. Price - $7.50 for each croissant and the tiramisu tart is $10.50.
