I stopped by on a Saturday afternoon. The place was not too busy. They used to have spiral croissant. Unfortunately, they no longer make it. Their pastries look very beautiful. Pistachio macaron was good. Ube sesame tart was a beautiful pastry. That was good too. Jade (banana matcha) was a slightly different type of tea. I think strawberry matcha would have tasted better.
Really pretty bakery and great for afternoon tea. We were really bummed they got rid of the stuffed croissants. Service was quick. The place was pretty and clean. I definitely need to take my gfs here for a girls day out. Overall everything was tasty and we definitely will be back.
Cakes are good, but be sure to ask what's in them to make sure it's up your alley! I've tried many and can't wait to try more
Holy smokes -- literally! When I started planning the cake for my sister's 50th birthday, I knew I didn't just need a cake designer. I needed a true artist. Someone who could create a cake just as EXTRA as the person it was meant for. This wasn't just a birthday cake. It was meant to be a testament to 50 years of an amazing life well lived. A sculpture. A piece of art. Something that somehow captured her life, her personality, the things she loves, and the people she loves. There were so many details, and every single one had a story and a meaning behind it. I needed someone who understood that and could actually pull it all off. Then I found Maryam at Marvel Cake. I'm fairly certain Maryam thought I was kidding when I first told her I wanted a gold, smoke-breathing lion on the cake. I was not. And once she realized that, she didn't try to talk me out of my crazy vision, she embraced it. She worked with me to find just the right lion mold. She figured out how to make the smoke actually happen. She even scheduled a practice run with a dummy cake ahead of time so we could make sure everything would work perfectly on the big day. And that same level of care went into every other ridiculous, sentimental, over-the-top detail I threw at her. Throughout the entire process, Maryam was kind, patient, helpful, incredibly sweet, and genuinely invested in bringing this vision to life. And she did. The finished cake was beyond anything I could have hoped for. It wasn't just beautiful or impressive, it captured who my sister is. Every tier, every flower, every symbol, every tiny detail meant something. This cake was incredibly important to me because, in a strange way, it was my love letter to my sister. It was 50 years of memories, things and people she loves, and pieces of her life all wrapped up in one completely outrageous cake. And Maryam treated every single element as though it were just as important to her as it was to me. That is a rare thing. If you're looking for someone to simply make you a beautiful cake, Maryam can absolutely do that. But if you're looking for someone to take an idea that sounds completely impossible (possibly involving a smoke-breathing gold lion) and turn it into something meaningful, personal, spectacular and unforgettable, Maryam is your person. Thank you, Maryam, for understanding that this was never just a cake.
Came by for some baked goods the other day and it was a decent experience. Parking was available in the private strip mall. Staff behind the counter were courteous. Ordered a chocolate hazelnut dessert and it was tasty and very good. Most importantly, it wasn't too sweet. It was on the pricier side at $10+ each.
It has been on my list to visit, known for the Spiral Croissant made popular like around 2 years ago. Great indoor and outdoor dining. Since it is small shopping area there is a lot of parking. It is a great place to enjoy a cup or tea or coffee with a selection of decadent desserts. As you check the display case someone will help you and you can request for take out or for here options. The staff were friendly and helpful when I requested for explanation for some of the desserts. Once you pay, pick any table to sit down and they will bring the tea or coffee with dessert of your choice. I had ordered Tokyo Breakfast and Leek Parmesan (I requested the pastry to be warmed up). Definitely must try for people who love IPP (Individual Production Pastry) type of desserts and great place to hangout with your friends or family.

I'm not sure why I thought they would also have slices of cake ( Hense the name), but they had smaller pastries and dessert options. A lot of selections for all of your dessert cravings. I will have to go back in and try their coffee and other items. But the things I ordered were good.

Marvel Cake is such a hidden gem! The whole café has a girly and luxurious vibe, from the plush, super comfy seating to the elegant decor. There's plenty of indoor seating, so you don't feel cramped at all -- and bonus points for a clean, well-maintained bathroom, free WiFi, and easy, plentiful parking. I went on a Sunday around 1 PM, and surprisingly, it wasn't crowded at all -- which made the experience even better. I ordered the Hokkaido crepe cake, chocolate croissant, iced latte, and an iced americano. Everything was delicious: * The chocolate croissant was super crispy and fresh -- probably one of the best I've had. * The crepe cake was light, fluffy, and perfectly sweet without being overpowering. * The iced latte was smooth and well-balanced, and you can tell they use good quality coffee. Definitely coming back. Whether you're into desserts, coffee, or just a chill spot with a pretty vibe, Marvel Cake checks all the boxes.
I ordered a custom cake from them and it came out so beautiful and it was very good! Highly recommend this bakery and will definitely be ordering from them again!
This has been my go-to place and a secret superpower for the last few years, that enabled me to show up with an amazing cakes for my wife's birthdays and really any occasions. They have a good selection of small single-serve cakes that we really enjoy, as we get to try many different flavors. But they also have large cakes, daily cakes, legendary Marvel tiramisu and all kinds of pastries. It's impossible to come in and walk out without a huge box of things you didn't know you needed. The service is quick and polite. They will even calligraph a custom edible banner for your cake! I've always taken away but there are some tables to eat in. There are always some people there but it's reasonably quiet and peaceful, with lots of light and muted colors interior.
This place is absolutely lovely! The desserts were such a treat. I came the other day with a friend, and we ordered a few to share, the lemon pie, the passion fruit dessert, and the tiramisu, which was definitely our favorite. I had a cappuccino that was smooth and well-balanced, and my friend got the red velvet coffee, which had a really nice, subtle flavor, just the right touch of sweetness. If it weren't for my sugar sensitivity, I'd probably spend way more time here! The ambiance is so aesthetic and cozy, perfect for catching up with friends over coffee and something sweet.

The hype is real for Marvel Cake's wheel croissants and I see why. I tried the pistachio one and oh my goddd it's amazing. The filling has a perfect half custardy/ half ganache consistency that isn't too sweet. I paired everything with their mandarin jasmine tea, helped with the sweetness of their pastries. Needed to pick up a pretty cake really and Marvel Cake was able to provide it. Friends and family said it was a cute cake and the flavor is chocolate. The frosting is awesome when you let it sit out the fridge for 10-20 mins. Ladies working on the night of Jan 21 were super nice and helpful. Worth trying once but not my favorite. It took me 3 visits to finally get my hands on their viral spiral croissants - get there early to get your hands on them. I didn't realize they were filled with pastry cream as an extra surprise Overall, the pastries are good but not out of this world and pricey. A beautiful tasteful cafe - always delivers on quality desserts and good service. They are a little pricy ($8-$12) per item but in-line with other shops like Alexander's etc. They did get very busy after their viral spiral croissant - and those do run out by 11/11:30 am. They are delicious and layered perfectly- but do get soggy if not eaten within an hour or so. They offer mariage freres teas - which is a great alternative for coffee. Like others have mentioned - this place would be ideal for an "afternoon tea" service and I hope they start something like that soon. Two words: spiral croissants! Come early because they can sell out quickly. I came in right around opening on a Saturday morning fortunately was lucky to have a wide selection of their croissants (pumpkin spice, chocolate, or pistachio) - but as we were eating we quickly saw people buying the iconic croissants one by one. In general - I loved my experience at Marvel Cake! The ambiance is cute and quaint, almost reminiscent of a place to have a nice tea party lol. They had drinks, sweet desserts, and savory pastries available. You can also preorder/buy cupcakes or cakes for special occasions! I tried the pistachio croissant it was SOO good. The croissant was nice and flakey, and was generously filled with pistachio creme (which was such a dream as a pistachio lover myself). The creme wasn't too sweet which I appreciated, and I was surprised by how well the croissant held itself together with every bite. My only regret was not taking another pistachio croissant to take home - service was great during our visit and I had no complaints at all! read more

This place was trending and my husband saw it on Instagram so we decided to try it out since we were in the area during Valentine's day weekend. (Yes, it is a late review/didn't get to finish my review) We got here late (past 2pm) so by the time we waited in line, all the good stuff was mostly gone like the spiral croissants that was trending. Per other reviews I've read, apparently you have to wait in line early in order to get them so if you go in the afternoon, you'll most likely miss it unfortunately. I ended up going home with just 2 pieces of macarons that was close to $10 and they were alright. The aesthetics were nice and you can definitely feel the European vibe. I personally do not think its worth the wait for just the macrons. read more

Return of the Spiral Croissant! I had them from a different business before but those just didn't cut it. Marvel has around 3-4 flavors ready at 10am every morning but Mondays. Verdict: super flaky, buttery, and generously filled with sweet cream. Eat it right after purchasing for the best experience possible. Each layer was pure pastry deliciousness. They're spirals so it's not super soft, perfect crisp outside with a rich interior. Worth the hype! Flavors: *Pistachio *Chocolate *Tropical Mango Passion Fruit (seasonal) Tropical was my favorite of the 3: fruity, vibrant flavor. Pistachio was too sweet for my taste and chocolate was darker. Not bad though. Love the contrasting textures! No line on a Thursday morning and I went straight to the glass display cases to place my order. Couldn't help ordering a wonderful Parisian style chocolate macaron courtesy of baker @macarons_by_agatha and apple turnover + original croissants to take home. Maybe they'll have strawberry or a new seasonal flavor next time I visit. read more

Honestly, I don't know what happened and where the mix up was. I was in SJ for the day and I decided to grab a cake from a bakery for my sibling's birthday. Their birthday is during the holidays so it's usually really busy so I decided to pick up a premade cake. I call to ask about sizes and whatnot because to order online I have to go through Doordash. I call and am told there's more than what Doordash offers and the lady was really helpful at first! I was asking about a bavarian strawberry cake they have. I was told they have a 2 sizes. One to feed about 10 and the other ~6. I say I need the bigger one, and she tells me they're out, but checked and they were in the middle of baking it. I specified the bavarian strawberry cake about 5 times in this call. She said yes that's the cake. I ask how do I order the bigger one as it's not an option. I'm told to choose Daily Cake which is $95. It says chocolate, but I ask again it's for the bavarian strawberry. I even wrote a note on the DoorDash in all caps specifying 'BAVARIAN STRAWBERRY CAKE'. The store messages me on Doordash asking what color I would like the cake with my note being the first message. I pick up this cake at around 2pm and they open it and it's gorgeous. I'm so excited and thought they did an incredible job until I get home and it's like 8pm now and we're cutting the cake. It's chocolate. My boyfriend was in the car and I asked him so I could verify I said bavarian strawberry multiple times. I can't believe I paid over $100 for a cake that was wrong and it was honestly a mid chocolate cake. I've had cheaper chocolate cakes with mousse that taste way better. Beyond disappointed and since it was through Doordash, a 3rd party, I tried to tell them and all I got was dash credit :) I truly don't know where the confusion and mix up happened because I was incredibly clear. read more

Came for the spiral croissants and it was not worth it. Spiral croissant review: The spiral croissant was about $9 after tax and fairly large, although I would never pay this much for a croissant if it wasn't for the hype. Got the one with raspberry lemon filling, and I have thoughts... The croissant itself has a great texture and crispy outer layer. However, the filling was just a raspberry jam and a lemon custard both piped into the croissant, and it was so runny and messy! Difficult to eat and also such basic, unimpressive fillings. Matcha latte review: Also ordered a matcha latte which was so disappointing. It was basically just hot milk with matcha powder dusted on top, so you can barely taste any matcha. Not worth it. Details for when you visit: Arrived on a weekend afternoon and it was busy inside. We lucked out and got a table to sit down, but there's not much seating for how busy and popular they seem to be. Parking can be difficult in this plaza since it's busy. The interior is beautifully decorated though and has a luxurious feeling. The other pastries looked gorgeous, although I can't speak to their taste. I am not coming back to try them though. read more

Came for the famous croissants but were sold out. This place is elegant, beautiful chairs and small tables, not ideal for more than 2 people. Service was super quick. No napkins were provided but no big deal. Loved the forks. All the desserts are beautiful. It was hard to choose just one. I shared some with friends. -Lemon Pie. Good. Needed to be more tart for my taste and I didn't like the whipped cream in top. Lemon tarts should have meringue instead, in my opinion. -Tiramisù tart. Pretty good! -Creme Brûlée tart. Pretty good! Vanilla beans for the cream which I really appreciated. The shell tart was tasty but like all the tarts, slightly undercooked. Needed 5min linger in the oven. Also I found the shells a little too thick but tasted delicious. -Matcha latte wasn't sweet which I really appreciate. I hate when they add syrup. -Leek and cheese savory pastry. Didn't like it. Could barely taste the leek and didn't like the cheese. Nice option for a coffee and dessert if you're in the area. read more

The chocolate spiral croissant was delicious! It was about $7.50 for one but they are huge and filling. They also had plenty of other pastries and cakes available. They had a line out the door on a Sunday right at opening so make sure to come early before the croissants sell out. The workers were very kind and the place itself looked really elegant. We were here on a weekday evening , and we got a table fairly quickly. The interiors at this place is really beautiful. There are quite a few tables , but can see it get full pretty quickly. We tried the following : Tiramisu: 3/5. This had a strong coffee taste which was pretty good , however the base was a little hard to get through with a spoon. Crème brûlée : 4/5. This was definitely tastier. It had good texture. Lavender latter: 4/5. This had a good a flavor of lavender. It was on the sweeter side. The total for these 3 items was 30$. This is definitely on the pricier side. It was definitely worth a try, but not sure if I'll be back. read more

Just thinking about these three unique desserts makes my mouth water! The experience truly feels like riding in the carriage that graces their emblem on the packaging. Strawberry Tart - $10 50 An absolute delight! From the jelly compote inside to the mousse exterior, every bite harmonized perfectly in my mouth. The balance of sweetness was just right--enough to turn even a non-strawberry lover into a fan. Apple Strudel Cheesecake - $11 OMG, yum. I've had a similar version at Cheesecake Factory, but theirs was a bit too sweet and heavy for my taste. This strudel, however, won me over at the first bite. Light, perfectly balanced, and utterly irresistible. How could something look so beautiful and taste even better? Royal Hazelnut - $10.50 Chocolatey perfection that melts in your mouth and leaves you wanting more. I'm honestly relieved their kingdom is far, far away. If they were closer, I'd be visiting every day, much to the dismay of my wallet. Yes, they are pricey, but the artistry and labor behind these creations make every bite worth it. When I'm in town again, I'll definitely visit to ride that carriage and be whisked away by their sweet masterpieces! read more
Recently went to New York and wanted to try the viral spiral croissant's from Lafayette bakery but were unable to because the sold out. Found this spot in the South Bay that had them and they were pretty good! Ordered the pistachio -- which was really good! Also go that egg nog one -- this was also good but not as good as the pistachio one. They were both soft, flaky, and creamy in the inside with the filling! I thought there would be a lot of people trying to order them. But went right at opening on a Thursday morning (week of Christmas) and there were only a couple of customers inside. Both croissant's came out to about $15. Parking was easy, it's a big shopping center. The inside of the cafe was nice and clean and employees were nice. Came here on a Thursday afternoon. I will say the parking lot for this location is awful, it's hard to find a spot! The place itself is super cute with a lot of places to sit down. It was kind of a bummer that they only had 3 flavors of the rolled croissant, and they were unconventional flavors-eggnog, pistachio and chocolate mint. I would suggest a basic flavor that's always available for pickier people! Pistachio rolled croissant- I really enjoyed the croissant itself and the frosting on top. I did not like the filling. There was so much filling and it was really thick. Chocolate eclair- this was soo good, I regretted not buying another! I would definitely come back and try the other items. All of the cakes looked delicious. The prices are alright, averaging about $10 each. read more

I think I found my new favorite study spot. Came here to study with some friends to study and chat for a bit and was so pleasantly surprised. Off the bat the bakery/cafe is so aesthetically pleasing and everything looks so clean and put together. Right now since it's the holidays they have these adorable Christmas decorations up and it really livens the place. The cafe itself is also quite big compared to a normal cafe. The pastries and drinks are really good! They have a good selection of desserts and even have a few savory pastries. They have a good list of teas and coffee drinks. The staff were super sweet and accommodating. I will definitely be back here! read more
3.5 stars but rounding up since Marvel Bakery has quality pastries/desserts. The spiral croissant craze continues to go strong. Thankfully, there was only a short line when I arrived about 10 minutes before they opened at 10am on a Friday. The staff were super efficient, and I was in and out in less than 10 minutes since I was fifth in line. There were 3 spiral croissant flavors (strawberry, pistachio, and chocolate) , and they only allowed 1 of each flavor per person. They spiral croissants were kept behind the main display area, and they didn't have signs or pricing, which I hope they add so you have all the information before deciding what to purchase. I also purchased the pistachio spiral croissant, and will have to try warming that up slightly before consuming, to see if that changes the flavor/texture. I would come back for their other baked goods, but hope inflation can continue reversing since items are still expensive! Marvel cake serves little cakes and pastries for my soul. I love the ambiance and the vintage yet classic modern vibe the cafe has to offer. The pastries taste phenomenal, and the textures of the crust, jam, and cream in almost everything I've tried have been spot on! Nothing I've tried has been overly sweet. I find they have the right balance in every one of their offerings, and if you find it sweet, well, balance it out with one of their amazing cuppaccinos or variety of teas they offer. I asked for my latte to be hot during my first visit. I was told it isn't supposed to be hot, but hey, it was a cold day, I think! Anyway, I got it the way I had requested, and I still got my latte art, and that made my day. Their spinach pastry is to die for! The service was phenomenal during my second visit, and I'll continue to visit because I still have to try their spiral croissant and also because their place is inviting. Give some love to these guys because they really have something pretty, amazing, beautiful, and dedinitely delicious brewing up here. read more
I preordered some small desserts at the store a week in advance, kept my receipt, and pick-up was smooth. When I returned a few days after that, I noticed the ube sesame tart changed shape and possibly textures so it may not be relevant now, but it looked like a little taco before. We were pleasantly surprised by the ube and black sesame puddings (they were firmer, like Jello) underneath the cream. Tiramisu tart was spot on with the taste of coffee and some subtle liquor. I bought two Napoleons because it's one of my dad's favorite pastries, although according to Google it should be filled with almond paste instead (while mille-feuille is the one with cream). There's quite a lot of sweetened cream sandwiched between the flaky pastry layers, but because it's very airy, the sweetness isn't too overpowering if you eat enough of the flaky layers with it. read more

FLAVOR (4/5): I originally ordered the strawberry croissant but they brought out a pistachio! Luckily I do like pistachio and this one was a hit! The filling was a dark green, not too sweet cream which compliments the flakey pastry. They also had a chocolate option as well! INSTAGRAM WORTHY (5/5): This place went viral on tiktok and I finally got to try it! Still had plenty left and lots of seating on a Sunday morning. Exterior and other pastries look super fancy! SERVICE (3/5): Other than us getting the wrong order, we were served really quickly. They bring your food to you if you choose to sit down and eat. TAKEAWAYS: Is it $9 for a circle croissant? Yes. Marvel cake sure is a sight for hungry eyes, if you can brave the lines and prices which are towards the higher side. Then again, that's to be expected of French patisseries I suppose. Beautiful finish on the pastries as well as the place. My experience was pleasant and I waited about 20 mins on a weekend but I hear they often sell out of the spiral croissants. The service was a little disappointing however. read more
My review is based on the spiral croissants, as I haven't tried the other pastries and desserts they have at Marvel. However, everything looked beautifully done, and my eyes and stomach said buy one of everything, but my brain was more reasonable for once. I had read that there can be a pretty decent sized line for the spiral croissants, so I arrived right when they opened on a Wednesday. Thankfully, there were only two other people there when I walked in. The woman that helped me said that it gets busier on the weekends. They have a limit as to how many spiral croissants you can buy. That limit is more strict on the weekends. I don't remember what she told me because my anxiety started kicking in when another customer decided she needed to stand right on top of me as I was ordering. So, my focus shifted to how uncomfortable I was, and I blocked out what she said. The store is really clean and cute. It feels like what I would think a European bakery would be like. However, I have been to Europe and none of the bakeries I went to looked that nice. So, more like what you would see on TV. The display cases are filled with gorgeous looking desserts and pastries. They are almost too pretty to eat. And the staff were very pleasant and helpful. I wouldn't mind going back and hanging out there with a coffee and a pastry. The best part of this particular visit were the spiral croissants. They are huge! They had three flavors; chocolate, pistachio, and pumpkin. All three were very tasty, but chocolate was my favorite. I'm not usually a huge sweets fan, but the creams that filled the spiral croissants weren't overly sweet, and the flaky, buttery croissant bread helped to offset the sweetness. They also put a generous amount of filling in these, so they do get messy when you cut them in half or you try to bite into them. The outside of the croissants were crispy and golden, and the inside was perfectly soft, flakey, and buttery. I bought two of each flavor, so I could go deliver a box to friends and take a box to my family. They also put them in these cute little boxes with a nice looking bag. The way they packaged their items make them perfect to drop off to clients, etc. If you haven't tried the spiral croissants I would highly recommend you try them at least once. If that's not something you are interested in I am sure one of their many other treats would fit the bill. I will definitely be returning. read more

Based on social media, I thought that the line would be around the block, so I came here at 9am on a Wednesday. For anyone else expecting this there is no need LOL just show up at 10 if on a weekday. The staff was friendly and let me in to the store before it opened after seeing me "work from home" on my laptop in front of the store from around 9:10am and even offered some drip coffee, but please note they don't open until 10am. There is a lot of seating area, and another room that is extra bright and actually quite perfect for getting work done or hanging out with friends. I got one of each flavor they had, and intended to bring the croissants to San Diego. I'm punctual. Actually, I'm usually early to all of my commitments. I took some time off on Friday 5/5 to take Gavin to get his passport done. We arrived early but little did I know there wasn't even a line, so I Yelped what's nearby. I turned 41 that day so a little splurging is justified so off we went. Nestled in a very big and busy plaza. Parking was an issue for me. I wasn't able to find any. If you are pressed for time and do not have the patience, then I suggest going early or after the lunch rush. The bakery is bright, open, sleek, and inviting. Staff were busy but they were helpful w/ a smile. Everything in the display case was enticing. As you can see, I was not able to make sensible choices, so I ordered more than I should have. Everything that we ordered was flaky, delicious, and not entirely too sweet though I don't have a problem w/ desserts being overly sweet. The chocolate spiral croissants are a must order - bursting w/ chocolate decadence inside. So good! Everything was so good! The meticulosity details in each baked good is highly noticeable. First time here. Cute decór and clean inside. Not too busy the day we came in, which was nice. Some of their menu items were already sold out earlier in the morning, but there was still a good variety to choose from. The staff weren't too friendly or welcoming this day, but it didn't affect our experience. We enjoyed the pastries and teas, and they were all delicious. The first time i attempted to go here, it was in the late afternoon near Valentine's day and most of their items were sold out. This time, my colleague was able to pick me up something on their way back. They ended up getting me the creme brulee and the tiramisu. Both were sooo amazing!! The Creme brulee had the perfect shell to it. It was a little bit dense and I wasn't able to finish the whole thing in one sitting. The winning cake had to be the tiramisu! It was light and you can taste the rum to chocolate ratio pretty well. Although, each of the cakes were about $10.00 a piece, I would love to come back, i have to try the pistachio cake next. read more
***3.5 stars*** I came right at opening time at 10am on a Tuesday and we were the first ones in the store. My friend and I tried the strawberry spiral croissant, pistachio spiral croissant, chocolate spiral croissant, and the leek parmesan pastry. I really enjoyed the leek parmesan and they give you an option if you want it heated or not. It was buttery, flaky, and a great savory snack. My favorite spiral croissant was chocolate, then pistachio, and then strawberry last. The spiral croissants were decently good, but I feel like it's more for the hype/aesthetic rather than overall taste. I'm glad I tried them at least once and that I didn't have to wait, but I probably would only come back for other pastry items. Dessert- My favorite was the Napolean and fruit tarts. The Pistachio Mouse Tart was dense due to the base. The chocolate spiral croissant was crispy and soft, but with not too much filling. Drink- matcha latte was excellent. Strong bold flavor and not bitter. Service- people was attentive and cleaning throughout the place when customers came and left. They run out fast I recommend arriving 10 min before opening to stand in line to ensure you can get a croissant :-)
