Elizabeth cakes and dessert (available on Tuesdays for Lotería night)

This bar has become a staple! From fun theme nights to excellent brews- this is a great little brewery. While the service can lean a bit slow, the taste of everything makes up for it. I was there on a Tuesday for loteria night and they had amazing chocoflan for sale as well. The loteria was fast paced, fun to play, and had TONS of prizes. They host magic the gathering night on Thursdays where you can play others or your own group as well. They have a great selection of beer and awesome smash burgers! If you are going for the burgers- note that on days they have pop up vendors (check instagram) they will not serve their typical menu. I look forward to returning for more events.

Tacos are AMAZING here. They are made fresh and hot. Be careful not to burn your tongue. The cheese is crispy and pan-fried to the tortilla. They give you a lot of the ingredients so it's hard to fold it and eat it. Get a fork! It spills out on your plate. The sauces that come with it adds that kick and extra flavor. I personally like the steak better than the chicken, but both are still good. Their smash burger is good too and it's a double patty. It's more on the salty side so make sure you get that drink on the side! I had the honey water and it tastes like kombucha. I had the Korean roasted barley drink which was very unique and different. I'm use to drinking the flavor as a hot tea so having it in a sparkling beverage form blew my mind bc it was so different. Not sure how I feel about it tbh.

We stopped in for a quick drink before heading out of Chicago. We are happy we did. I got a michalittle and he got a few tastes of beer. We ordered the burger and it had grilled cheese on it. It was super cheesy and full of flavor. The double smash burger was filling and great for the price. It comes with fries and they taste just like McDonalds fries, we loved them! I wish we had found this place sooner or lived in Chicago. We would be regulars!

The okc smashburger with an extra patty, added bacon. Excuse the messy counter in the background, it's my cousins haha

Really good brewery, great for drinks, great for the burgers, great for hanging out with a group of friends or family. The interior is nicely decorated with its own unique flair, oval shaped bar and nice custom wood feature above the middle of it. There's some TVs for games, a big pull down screen too. They have a nice glass area to see where they make the beers and also have a little store front with beers and merch to buy. Service is always great, attentive and friendly. The okc smash is great, I just wish they made a sauce for it, it's got a great crust on the smash and taste great. I was hungry so I added another patty and bacon because sometimes it be like that. They serve a wide variety of brews they make, cocktails (the manhattan is pretty good), and thc drinks. I've been a decent amount of times and will be going again.

Brat with side of potato salad during Oktoberfest

Went during Oktoberfest and got to witness a hilarious polish sausage eating contest and sampled some brats. I can't say I loved the sausage because the kimchi it came with tasted alittle off but I did love the potato salad. When it comes to the beers I love their huge variety including THC drinks. THEY ARE DELICIOUS. Would recommend the Half and Half.

I brought my mom here after a trip to zap props, and we were impressed with the overall atmosphere and food. I don't love ordering at the bar, but the folks working there were very helpful and kind. The beer was good, and we also got some loaded fries, a shrimp, quesadilla, and a Smashburger. Everything was very tasty. There were lots of little kids and babies there, which I appreciate because it can be difficult to find kid friendly places sometimes. Would definitely go back!

Everything was good, I didn't know how delicious crusted cheese was we ordered the fries the bar drinks were light but good hop & honey water tasted like sparkling water with honey literally sublime fries 10/10 no complaints.. i would suggest the salsa in the bar there is adequate street parking we dined in but ordered at the bar and food was brought to our table. a server didn't come to us..

Ambiance - super cool interior, bar in middle, lots of tables, they have themed nights (Thursday is karaoke night) Service - order at the bar and staff brings food to your table Food - smashburger is a must get (love how crispy the edges were), the protein for the tacos were a bit dry

I already love the vibe of this place and all of their unique craft beer selections, but tried their food for the first time, specifically their smash burger and it was DELICIOUS.

Marz Brewery makes the most savory comfort food. From their gourmet ooey gooey cheesy smashburger to their cheesy fried tacos, everything here is the PERFECT weekend treat after a hard week of work, you know what I'm saying? Although you can definitely come for tacos and a beer on their trivia days, too. Bring all your friends--this place is quite huge and have long tables for large parties. Tip: Order on the left innermost part of the bar if you're just there for food, and remember your table number when ordering!

Went for the first time and I enjoyed it. Ordered the guacamole, steak and shrimp tacos. The food order did take some time but it states that on the menu so I was prepared for it. Ordered a cocktail and it was just okay - tasted like juice. I should've opted for one of the canned options. The tacos were good! I loved that the meat was plentiful and not dry. I will say the cheese they use (I'm assuming) or some other component on the steak taco is a little salty. But other than that I enjoyed and would return.

loved it here. great family vibes on a sunday afternoon. you can bring kids. they had a guy making some excellent empanadas. i think casa empanadas was his company. loved the beer, staff, food. everything was excellent. plenty of free parking and easy to find. need to go back for a burrito. chicken taco was also great.

Great service and great everything. The place is sooo cool and I'm sad my phone died bc I didn't get to take more photos because there's just so much coolness inside this brewery. Recommend this place highly. The tacos and the amazing salsa was to die for. Kudos to the person who makes the red salsa. I'm a little jealous bc I make salsas myself. Loved it!!

Ask the Community - Marz Community Brewing

Are the CBD seltzers available to order in while eating or are they only to go?

    Both are acceptable

    Is the place children friendly?

    Yes

Can I get beer to go?

Yes! They do curbside pickup and also you can get package goods to go.

Do they require or take reservations?

    No, the patio is walk-up.

    Can we bring our kids?

You sure can. They even have high chairs.

Their website shows three beers. Is that all they have? No food menu, so no food?

They definitely have food! It's an interesting selection. It's filling food, too. They have more than 3 beers. They have quite a lot on tap and bottles. They also have a space where you can buy their bottled beer from a fridge and merch.

Does this place have TV's in the bar section? I know most brewery's don't

yes, they have one big screen for sure. most of the times I've been there its tuned into some sort of non broadcast channel, very weird programming, but they had World Cup on earlier this month.

Do they take reservations? A group of 6 or so people would like to come for lunch on a weekend. Not sure if it's typically packed.

No reservations from what I have seen. When I was there on the weekend we arrived around noon and it wasn't full yet but it did fill up shortly afterwards.

Our server, Miguel, was phenomenal. She was attentive, fast, and gave us some spot-on recommendations. Per her advice, we ordered the deviled eggs with jalapeño, hands down the highlight of the table. The deviled eggs with paired with that subtle jalapeño kick was absolutely perfect. For the mains, the chicken and waffles were good, carrying that solid comfort food flavor you expect. The waffles were a bit soft for my taste. To drink, the sidecar was mixed perfectly, well-balanced, crisp, and hit the exact right note. Giving it 4 stars only because while the mains were good, the starters and the outstanding service from Miguel were what truly stole the show. We sat and didn't have to wait too long for the waitress. She was nice and assisted up accordingly! I ordered the bottle of champagne for mimosas with pineapple and orange juice and was pleasantly surprised by the $35 price since we're used to paying twice that back home. The food came out pretty quick and was hot and ready to eat. All of our food was good well and we all enjoyed our dishes. My only takeaway would be if guests ordered bottled water and/or champagne, the waitress should poor them into the glasses for you. From my experience, this is something that I thought was a norm. Overall, great place to eat!

The waitress had informed us that a single is a double, a double is a triple, etc! Opted for a single with bacon as an add on and it was delectable. The thick pieces of bacon were truly the cherry on top. It comes with a slice of pickle. Additional sides, including fries, are extra. We unconventionally got an omelette.. but let's just say it was one of the fluffiest omelettes I've had-- not your classic breakfast omelette. Inside are roasted peppers and cheese. I planned to dine at Au Cheval for Sunday lunch and unfortunately there weren't any reservations available on Resy for lunchtime when I checked. Of note, Resy charges $2.50 per person to book the reservation which does not go towards the bill. After looping around for parking and finding a metered spot, I checked in at the restaurant shortly after 11:30am and was told I was 28th in line and the host could not quote a wait time due to the inclusion of online reservations. I thought that was a bit odd so I ended up walking around to explore the surrounding businesses. I finally received a text that my table was ready around thirty minutes later. The restaurant itself is not big but gives off an old fashioned vibe which I guess correlated with the type of food served. I ordered a single cheeseburger, a side of thick cut peppered bacon, and a side of French fries. I figured it was more economical to order a side of bacon rather than adding it to my burger so I can eat as much or as little as I wanted. The food came around fifteen minutes later. The burger itself did not look as big on the plate as I expected, although it was apparent how thick the two hamburger patties were. Since everyone was raving about the burger I had high expectations which unfortunately were not met. The burger tasted like a burger found at any average diner across the country. The bacon pieces were thick and flavorful but I don't think they elevated the burger as much as I'd like. Also, I wished there were cheese options rather than offering only American cheese which is probably the cheapest cheese that can be added on a burger. The fries reminded me of In-N-Out fries but the fries at the bottom of the cup were way too salty as if all the salt was added to the bottom of the cup instead of trickling down after being sprinkled on the fries on top. Considering all the hype about Au Cheval and the claims that their cheeseburger is one of the best burgers in the country or world, I was very underwhelmed. If this burger were to represent the Chicago food scene on a national level, it should rank lower than several other major cities in the United States.

After we sat down, our server took her sweet time getting to us and was largely absent the entire visit while the servers for the others tables were attentive and present as I've come to expect. We started with the Crispy Brussels and Burrata Toast which was an amazing and fun combination of flavors textures with the sherry glaze and pickled onions providing a perfect counter to the richness of the cheese. Our second course was the Gage Caesar which we've had before and have enjoyed sharing multiple times, but this time the lettuce was full of grit as if the prep chef did not even bother washing the lettuce. The server never came by to check on us so I had to wave the manager to complain about the salad. The server also never checked to see if we wanted refills on our cocktails so we placed our orders with the manager. The final dish was the venison burger which was perfectly cooked and seasoned if you like venison, which I do so we enjoyed that greatly. The condiments that came with it were perfectly matched to balance the game of the meat and the fries were perfect as usual! The server then FINALLY got more involved with our dinner and was predictably perky and present at the end, something that always irks me when they have been otherwise absent for the meal. The ONLY reason they are getting 3 stars instead of less for this visit was the flavor of the food and the response of the manager in dealing with the lack of service (and the gritty salad). I would give the initial server a zero if I could.

I wish I had taken more photos, but we were too busy enjoying the food as it arrived at the table! For drinks, my sister loved the Strawberry Rose Paloma, and I enjoyed a glass of Kir-Yianni Sparkling Rosé, which paired beautifully with the meal. The warm, seasoned pita deserves its own recognition. It's soft, pillowy, and absolutely addictive. Honestly, it's hard not to fill up on the pita and spreads before the rest of the meal even arrives. Our server struck the perfect balance between friendly and attentive, without ever feeling intrusive. We usually make room for dessert, but we were completely stuffed this time. In the past, though, I've loved both the Warm Sticky Date Cake and the Frozen Greek Yogurt, and I'd recommend either without hesitation. I was secretly hoping for a tiny scoop of frozen yogurt as a birthday surprise, but my server didn't mention it and I didn't remind him of the celebration (and honestly, we were way too full anyway ). As a huge Top Chef fan, it's always special dining at Chef CJ Jacobson's restaurant. I had the opportunity to meet him during my very first visit to Ema, and he was incredibly gracious. His creativity and attention to flavor are evident in every dish. Ema continues to set the standard for what a great dining experience should be.
