As a big fan of Maria's I knew I had to come here. The very first thing you notice is that this placed isn't well signed. I almost drove past it, if it wasn't for the people standing outside of it. The place is a remodeled factory of some sorts, so you kind of feel like you are in the wrong place. But it makes sense to put a brewery in a place like this. The place was packed, being only open for a week, but it was still spacious. The inside is, not surpringly.. hip. Bright colors, pictures, sculptures, tvs playing various things, even in the bathroom. Take that for what you will. The beer selection was about a page's worth of beers, all brewed in location, and everything I had was amazing. Top notch craft beer, with a wide variety of flavors. This place might even beat Maria's. I didn't have any of the food, but all my friends really enjoyed what they got. I want to try the grilled cheese sandwich! (edit, the French dip grilled cheese was amazing). So yes, this place met the hype, and it's gonna be a new hot spot for sure. read more

Marz beer is great! The brewery is super cool. The food is very tasty. However, the service really doesn't keep up with the rest. I have been here 2 handful of times, this last time going really left a bad taste in my mouth... Came in on a Sunday, a day after FoBab and saw some guest tappings. Asked the bartender what she preffered and she was kind of snotty with her response "saying our beer is better, I wouldn't know." Uhmmm okay? She wasn't very friendly either. When it came time to close out, she saw us standing and another bartender also saw us. The one walked away completley and our bartender served a few more guests before getting us our check. She had us wait at least 4 or 5 minutes and there was maybe 8 people max at the bar. Needless to say, this wasn't the first time with having bad service here, felt obligated to put it out there. Overall, beer is great, the arcade is cool, the tv station in the bathroom is trippy. Will I go back? Probably, but not anytime soon. read more

Are you kidding me? Marx has a game room. Everything, I played Frogger, they even have Burger Time. Not sure if the machines rotate, driving games at least 10 pinball choices. Did I say FREE? Fun place to hang out at for a low key evening. Pizzas are very tasty. Drink menu provides options for most people (hard seltzer, please!). I really liked the canned CBD coffee drink. Bar service was a little slow - felt like I had to be very obvious to get a drink order, but once you get their attention all is good. I really started getting into Marz beers when I moved down 31st Street in Douglas in 2015. Sampling on tap at Maria's, and buying bottles from the front store. The creative brews, with art and names to match are right up my alley. I was stoked when they opened up a taproom in the Brewery. I've gone about a half dozen times since then and have never been disappointed. Great service, atmosphere and food (veggie BBQ sandwich, Moroccan Couscous Salad (also vegetarian), and now Fat Rice pastries!). I was somewhat sorry to see the art gallery go, but the arcade is a fun addition. Favorite Marz beers so far: Bubbly Creek with Yuzu and Cobra Nerde. Their six packs to go are a bit pricey, but totally worth the trip. read more

I've been dying to come here but while I was browsing Yelp photos and the website I still had a few questions. We went on a Tuesday afternoon & it wasn't packed at all. And they DO sell food! Delicious food too. Snacks, sandwiches and even a noodle bowl. They also have a decent variety of beers on tap to choose from. I've never tried a Marz beer I didn't like! Another thing they do that I think is pretty neat is have a couple beers on their menu that they're just trying out, but still offer. I tried both the F2F #1 and F2F #2. Some of the best fruity beers I've ever had. The inside is huuuuge. It's a revamped industrial building and they have a ton of seating. Even multiple community tables as well. Love the atmosphere too, they have cool art work on the walls and the whole vibe is just great. Get the meat and cheese board. It's amazing. My fiancé and I both got sandwiches as well. He got the Cuban and I got the jerk turkey. Both had incredible flavor. They come with original potato chips and a big pickle spear, seriously what combination is better than that? The bartender overheard us talking about a stout they had written on their wall and ended up coming over with a free sample without us asking for it. That's what's up. It was so good too - and I don't even typically like stouts! Just all around great employees here. There's a lot of free parking up and down the street by all of the other industrial buildings which is awesome. I can't wait to come back. Definitely one of my new favorite breweries. read more

This is a very hipster place..I felt odd not having a mustache and tight jeans when entering. Large brewery but can be super busy. Decent beer menu but the beers are out there for sure...if you are a domestic light drinker don't even waste your time. Beers aren't cheap...I think they were around $8 each and a 4pk to go was $15. They have board games and an arcade room in the back where you don't have to insert any coins to play - FREE! Like some of the reviewers mentioned here, sometimes the experience with the bartenders here is absolutely terrible. The best way I can explain it is hipster/pretentious. Like the less you care about the customer, the cooler you look? Some twisted logic like that. I rarely drink and don't know a ton about beer, but I was with a fun group and thought I'd give this place a 2nd visit. I asked the bartender his recommendation for a particular type of beer. The level of "I don't care" expression on this person's face is something you hope to never personally reach, as it borders on severe depression. He asked me what I like to drink in a dejected monotone voice. I told him the type of beer I've tried and liked in the past and then mentioned a couple beers that I've ordered at this place during my first visit. He laughed at me and said those beers I ordered in the past do not match my style preference. I wanted to respond with an "Ok? So you know more about drinking alcohol than me? Congrats?" or a "I'll give you another dollar for your tip if you just do your job without judging and trying to insult me." I didn't want to cause a scene so I just nodded and smiled. He then took it a step further and tried to embarrass me in front of my friends and was like, "Wait! Now I need to know! What is your go-to beer then if that's your style preference?" I responded with a beer within that style (which was correct) and he just turned around and walked away since I was right and his attempt in embarrassing me failed. He didn't comment on it or try to start a fun little convo. It was just so random, awkward, and opportunistic. When he asked for a credit card for the drinks after me and a guy friend ordered, the girl in our group offered hers because I paid for the food and my other guy friend agreed to get the next round of drinks. He hesitated and was like, "uhhhhh, are you sure?" as if the guys in the group were doing something wrong by letting the girl pay. I then had to say "yes, we're sure. I covered the food and my friend is getting the next round." He rolled his eyes and then charged the card. I was so surprised to see this type of behavior in 2022 to be honest. It's not weird for a girl to want to pay for anything and it's none of your business why she wants to! I browsed through the images section and came across a photo taken by someone else of who the bartender is and included it in my post in case you were curious and want to avoid him. Awesome spot you could spend an entire night. Pros -Where to start, I loved my time at Marz starting with the cool artwork on the walls. This extended to their mercy and beer can designs. -Huge selection of beers: ipas, stouts, wilds/sours and light drinkers. Honestly, everything I tried was awesome, you really can't go wrong. -Food on-site was much better than I anticipated. They do have a full menu of sandwiches and appetizers so no need to leave Marz for that food craving. -Free arcade games in the back - ranging from pinball to alien - we spent a lot of time back there. -Great selection of merch and to go options. I will say size your t shirts down I got an XL and am swimming in it. Cons -It would be socially frowned upon to move in here? Dear Marz owners, I realize you may think you are too cool for Bridgeport, but take the time to realize your surrounding area is 90% of your returning customers. Your staff is rude. Finally visited and absolutely lived up to the hype. They had so many great and innovative beers to choose from, ample seating, and a great overall vibe. Didn't get a chance to order any food but it all looked delicious. Great place to have an event or host a large party, there's games and even an arcade in the back. We heard about this brewery for some time and enjoyed their beers a lot, usually bought at Binny`s. Last Sunday we had finally decided to visit that place reading only good reviews about it and we were in awe for this particular brewery. As a definitive beer (principally IPA, NEIPA, DIPA) enthusiasts we have gone to many other Chicago breweries (I am not going to name them here because I do not want to leave negative proportion as they are also very good places to try freshly made beer), and I can put this one as the best one so far. This place welcomes you from the first steps, it is like an oasis on almost abandoned industrial area in the city outskirts. Marz was pretty full as for the lazy Sunday afternoon, we liked the idea of DJ playing chillout deep house music only contributing to the whole feeling. The stuff was very organized and giving attention to what is going on around the bar. We tried few beers from the menu and they all were spectacular. They Hazy IPA`s were definitely our favorites. The prices are in the range of $7-$8 for 10-13oz which is very standard for Chicago prices. They also serve food, mostly sandwiches but we have not tried any. I could only see people having them around and they looked pretty enticing. They also serve some kind of brunch options on Sundays by 3pm I believe. The last but not least they have a back room filled with arcade games and flippers and they are all free!! You can have few beers and you can go hang out for little bit to stretch the legs and have some fun, this is very cool. Before leaving the place there is obviously option to buy some of their canned beers, t shirts, stickers and other stuff with Marz brewing logo which I find very interesting. I can only say we had a great time at Marz that day and strongly looking forward to the next visit. read more

NOT FRIENDLY TO KIDS OR TO PARENTS. We were made to feel very unwelcome here by one of the staff. We were rudely spoken to as were two other families. In my two years of being a parent I have never felt so disrespected or made to feel so unwanted. We left immediately. Didn't finish our beer. Also if you need a high chair for your kid don't expect to find one. They only have two in the whole place so plan to hold your kids. read more

Really good beer. Really awful experience. Call my crazy, but I find a brewery to be slightly akin to a bar. Therefore, the large amount of infants and toddlers in Marz struck me as a little strange. This in itself isn't a deal breaker I suppose, but I could've done without the temper tantrum that took place at an adjacent table. What was a deal breaker was the piss poor service. When you walk in and have your ID checked, the greeter mentions that you can sit wherever you like, and just to go up to order at either end of the bar under the signs that say something like "place order here." Sounds easy enough, right? Not so fast. Each time I attempted to order underneath one of the previously mentioned signs, it took over 10 minutes for one of the handful of bartenders to saunter over and say either, "What's up?" or "Please tell me you're not going to order 5 half beers." Keep in mind that the place wasn't crowded by any means. The bartenders weren't all busy serving other patrons, however a few of them did serve people who walked up to the bar (not the signs) to order after I had been standing in the place I was told to stand for service. The staff was super dismissive, had zero sense of urgency and just lacked all the hallmark traits that you typically see in members of the hospitality industry. Again, the beer was great. But not so great that I'll endure being treated like a doormat in order to drink it. read more

So I went to cermak produce to get some beer for a get together. The labels caught my eye and I was looking for something different. I took a couple of 4 packs of citrus party and flower power. I love that it's not sweetened at all. I mixed with some gin and we sure had a good time. I went online and ordered for pick up got some additional items like apple pie and kombucha all very delicious. It was easy to order and I called when I was there and someone came out with my order in a couple of minutes. Will def be back read more

Been going since it opened and is a consistent winner! Beers are fantastic and apply to the varied tastes we all have. The servers and management are chill, warm and responsive. It's a large, cool space which can accommodate a large volume of people. I feel welcomed each time I walk in regardless if I'm staying or buying beer to-go. I love that they have live entertainment come in during the week and on the weekends and even when there is no live entertainment, they are playing the Lumpen music station, which I believe, they own. The station plays old school, boogie, funk, etc. - all good stuff! The only thing I've not done is eat there, so I cannot comment on the food; but, I hear more and more the food is very good. Marz is one of my favorite breweries in the Chicagoland area by far. Their new taproom is absolutely amazing and, obviously, you can never go wrong with their beer. The place is huge and every inch is perfectly decorated with art, cool fixtures and plenty of seating/standing area. I went on the night it opened and, while there were lines for beer, we had plenty of space to hang out. Really cool aesthetic. If you're new to Marz, the jungle boogie variations are a good place to start. Also, Golden Boy actually does taste just like white chocolate so definitely give it a try. Overall, would recommend Marz to anyone. I went with 3 other people and they have also been raving about it ever since. read more
