This is a family owned Chinese restaurant. Small and authentic with an extensive menu. The Thai tea was made very sweet; a little too sweet for the standard taste. Although the chicken chow mein was excellent; one of the best I've had. And the wontons in chili oil were ok. Now this place does accept cards, but they will not take more than one form of payment for some reason. As with many Chinese restaurants, they have a large extensive menu, but there may only be a couple of dishes that they are better at making. This place is no exception. We definitely ordered some good dishes and some A-OK dishes. I think the reduction in stars is mostly due to the long wait despite there only being one or two tables. They might have been understaffed, but the table behind us had to follow up with their order as they noticed that we had almost finished eating our meal and their meal was nowhere to be seen. || L O C A T I O N / P A R K I N G || -Located in the same shopping plaza as 99 Ranch and many other eateries such as Seasons Kitchen, Chung Chun Rice Hot Dog and Ten Ren. -Cross Streets are N Euclid St and Crescent Ave. -Parking can be a hassle if you're here during peak hours. It was our favorite dish that paired so well with rice. There were no leftovers at all. Wontons in Chili Oil - Honestly hard to mess up unless the chili oil isn't flavorful enough or if the wontons aren't fresh. There was a decent amount of wontons and the chili oil gave it a little spicy kick to it. Good but nothing outstanding. House Fried Rice - There was potential in this dish but it was just way too bland. I think they forgot to season it? At least compared to the other dishes, I might as well be better off eating regular steamed rice rather than pay 10+ dollars for fried rice. I would not recommend this dish. Delicious dumplings and super friendly customer service. I had actually spilled some sauce on my shirt during a lunch break and the lady serving me even helped me remove the stain! What a true gem hidden in Anaheim. I have to admit I've been to this shopping center before but I've never noticed Ma's dumplings. My girlfriend and I have this great tradition of treating ourselves to dim sum every few months and this spot has been at the top of the list for a while. Finally having a chance to check out Ma's the first thing I noticed was the LARGE menus. The options seemed endless. But we narrowed it down to the chicken dumplings, veggie dumplings, green beans and chowmein. The dim sum was a great deal, 10 for around $10, they were great sized and I loved the veggie ones with fresh ginger. The chowmein was also great, but for real star to me was the green beans. Light flavor with a kick at the end from the pepper. Also, spoiler alert ita served piping hot. One of the favorites at this restaurant is the salt and pepper chicken. I really enjoyed it this time, because it was salty, most people I go with really enjoy this meal. The service is always great. You can tell it has that family owned atmoshphere, where all the servers are very respectful. Very relaxing atmosphere with cooking videos playing in backround (asmr). The dumpling dough is pretty thick though, would like it better if it was thinner. I do like that they give you 8 pieces, it's a large order for an appetizer. Veggie Fried Rice - Too plain, we barely ate any of it. Hong Kong Style Pan Fried Noodles - I am obsessed with pan fried noodles and these were great! I will definitely order them again. Portion is big too, I had it for lunch the next two days. General Chicken - This was OK. Large chunks of white meat chicken with a kind of sweet sauce. This did not reheat well the next day. Scallion Beef - We LOVED this. Super tender, large pieces of thick beef, delicious brown sauce with loads of scallions. Looking for Chinese food in the Anaheim area has posed a great challenge in my journey to find the best restaurants, which is why I was happy that I came across Ma's Dumpling House. Though farther away from the center of Anaheim in the same shopping center as the 99 Ranch Market on Euclid, I was willing to drive out if it meant the food was good. After looking at their menu, I decided I would steer away from my usual orders and proceeded to get a Salt and Pepper Chicken. At the time of this review, this costs around 13 dollars after tax. I entered the small restaurant around 7:30 to see a large party and a small party occupying the tables, which was a good number for the amount of seating there was. I then quickly picked up my food from the nice staff and left to inspect the food. Opening the box to inspect the food, it smelled aromatic upon opening which was enticing to me since I was decently hungry at the time. The chicken looked lightly coated, which was a good since many dishes similar to this are usually overly-coated. The portion seemed to be satisfactory with the entirety of the box having chicken in it. The only downside is that a good handful of the pieces were void of chicken. What I initially thought was chicken ended up to be scraps remaining from the breading. This being said, I wish each piece had more chicken as that is what I would be paying 13 dollars for. Price to portion ratio suffers a bit because of this. The taste of the chicken itself was overall great! The chicken itself was moist, which is a hard balance to strike due to the fact the fryer can take lots of the moisture away. The breading was subtly spicy from the red peppers in the dish which provided a nice kick. The chicken was also paired with some garlic and pepper, which made the chicken's flavor resonate in the mouth. It was somewhat sweet, but not in a way where sauce was a concern. All the flavors put together made the dish a great pairing to rice, which I found to be quite enjoyable. For the Salt and Pepper Chicken, Ma's Dumpling House deserves a solid 4 stars. The taste of the chicken was very flavorful with a variety ingredients, but the one star deduction mostly comes from the portion-size being a little less than what is usually available for the price. I'll reemphasize the fact I wish the chicken pieces were a little bit larger. Other than that, Ma's Dumpling House did an overall good job. read more

This cute little place with friendly service is quite a good find. I really wanted dumplings but could not resist ordering the cumin lamb. It was exceptionally good. I only had two types of dumplings; pan fried pork buns and wontons in chili oil. Neither of them are mind blowing. Although I really appreciated that the dough on both of them was obviously handmade. The wontons and chili oil had some Szechuan pepper corn that was nice and tingly. But the rest of the flavor was not on point. I will go back just for the cumin lame that's for sure. My 10 year old and I found this cute place when starving after a long drive. We shared the #1-Juicy Pork Dumplings, #3-Pan Fried Pork Buns and #117-Chinese Cucumber Salad. The salad was absolute refreshing and delicious but for my ten year old it was a strong taste that she did not like. I've never had it before but now I feel like I'm addicted. Rainy day in SoCal. Family was craving some dumplings/XLB "juicy dumplings". Checked my trusty Yelp app and found several options in the local area. Out of all the reviews, this place seemed like a hidden gem, and besides, I had to get some groceries at an Asian market, which Ranch 99 is nearby. 'Perfect storm' indeed. Upon entering, there were about 10 booths and 2 large round tables. Walls decorated with the traditional Chinese decor but modern, receipts where past patrons wrote appreciative messages, and since it was the lunar near year coming up, some of those decorations as well. Staff were quick to have us seated, super friendly and polite. They took our order, and about 15 minutes later the food came out one by one. I wasn't sure what to expect, would this be authentic or an American style of dumplings. The reviews are about 3.7 stars as of this writing, and I have to say it's unwarranted. The food was good. The value for the food is good. The skin for the XLB was a little thicker, but for my kids, they were much easier to handle. Also the cost is about $5-7 less than other places for 8 XLB. Literally there was another option we could have gone to instead, but authentic Chinese food shouldn't be overly expensive. The taste was good, but the tiny thing that it lacked was it wasn't 'soupy'. It was hot but it didn't have that soup explosion upon eating it. That's not to say it wasn't tasty, it still was. We also tried their string bean chicken, excellent. My kids ate it all up, and we all know how kids can sometimes avoid eating their veges. We had their pan fried dumplings, which surprisingly enough, was more 'soupy' when I bit into it. I almost preferred this item over the XLB. Had the sweet and sour chicken ( the pork version wasn't available) and it was good too. Lastly, had the beef flat noodles, comfort food right here. Simple, tasted good with everything else, it hit the spot. I would recommend trying this place out. It's pretty authentic with slight American style to it, but still keeping it traditional. Next time I have to try the beef noodle soup, that's the other main dish that would display how authentic this place is... it's one of the other menu items that I would say is a must try if you want to keep it authentic. Service was quick and friendly. No problems for non mandarin speakers, and native speakers. I've been to places similar to this that would make non native speakers feel awkward to order, as well as the 'quick pace rush rush' Chinese food places, but this place is great for anyone to try. (I was myself nervous to use my broken Mandarin to order, but thankfully I split it up with English). Would recommend this place for families, friends, and anyone that wants to try good Chinese food that is reasonably priced. read more

We sat down quickly. Small quaint restaurant kinda quick bite place to dine. We started with hot tea. Ordered egg rolls, juicy pork dumplings, chicken steamed dumplings and chow mein. Starting with the egg rolls, they were crisp, great flavor vegetables. I will definitely order more of them next time. They come with 4 and sauce. The pork dumplings were tender, the pork was tender, they came as little purse style. Love them the best. The chicken not much flavor to the meat tho we added chili oil and soy sauce. Will not make this one of my reorders. They were fresh. Just not toy liking. The chow mein we picked was.beef. We pleasantly enjoyed this. I am one for a hole in the wall joints and I have been eyeing this eatery for the last few years and I finally went. I ordered Xiao long bao (pork dumplings), sautéed string beans and a bowl of rice. The skin of the dumpling was simply too thick. The pork was over cooked and the soup lacked flavor. I was happy I ordered the sautéed string beans. I would give it 0 stars if I could. The owner was extremely rude. Yelled at my family and made a scene because they were simply asking questions. This was their first time there, so it's very normal to ask. My grandparents can't eat spicy food, so when they asked if the chicken was spicy, she responded with, "Did you not look at the menu??" Since they were taking their time trying to figure out what they wanted, she made another comment saying "If you're not happy with the service you can go somewhere else". I am writing to share my recent experience at this restaurant, as I feel it's important to provide feedback on customer service. This was my second visit, and unfortunately, I encountered a rude attitude from the staff members, who I believe may be the owner. During my first visit, I brushed it off, but I had hoped for a better experience this time. On my lunch break, I was eager to try some different dishes, and I politely inquired if they had chicken feet, which I have seen at other similar chinese/ dimsum restaurants. However, the response I received was quite DISMISSIVE with comments about taking too long to order and being told not to ask too many questions about the menu. She began to take the menu away while my other friend was still reading it. I found this to be a bit abrupt and, frankly, quite rude. This made me feel unwelcome and uncomfortable. I did only ask if they have chicken feet that's it and start giving me attitude and look at me like she's gonna EAT me up! Lol Worst Customer Service!!! I understand that busy times can be stressful, but there were only a few customers in the restaurant at the time.
