Came here on a Sunday and there were only 4 groups of people seated inside and 1 guy at the bar and it took forever to receive my bill. This place has basic decor and it can be good for groups or a couple. Very small outdoor seating overlooking Queens Blvd. I'm writing this review as we speak and my card still hasn't been charge. I ordered the mix tacos where you can choose three different types of tacos and it comes with rice and beans. I ordered 2 of the birria and 1 pastor tacos. I like the size of the tacos, it's perfect and it's not overly stuff. The consume that comes with the Birria taco was good. Keep in mind that you have to pay extra for the Birria tacos. The pastor was good but it didn't come with pineapples. Overall, it's a new addition to a brunch spot in the area since there are not a lot to choose from to begin with. This place has potential and I do agree with other Yelp reviewers that they really need to work on their rice, it's not up to par at all. The food is good but they forgot my chips for the burrito. Ordered food for pick up and the restaurant was a lot further from FH than we thought. Long walk.. The burritos are bigger than what I expected especially if I'm comparing it to Tacombi. Lil more expensive than your typical Mexican restaurant but the quality is there and the food is not overly seasoned which is great. Loved the condiments served with the burrito. Pico de gallo, crema, guacamole, salsa/sauce. Good portion. Very fresh. The sauce wasn't spicy at all and I'm not even sure what it tastes like but it was colorful.. the pork is cubed, different than what I'm used to but had a good texture, like a quality pork loin perhaps... So me and my girlfriend went for Taco Tuesday and I was immediately TURNED OFF when the reduced price taco Tuesday menu said customers must pay a minimum of $25 per person. it's like what's the point of offering a reduced priced menu then? and who wants to be told they HAVE TO order a certain amount? very weird. I've never seen that before. I can go to TACOMBI and buy as little or as much as I want. Then they charged us the wrong price for Guacamole but when we told them a man came to our table from the back saying the prices can change but the menu said it was $12. On top that I was charged $4 for sour cream that I didn't ask for and they wouldnt take off the bill. The owners and server was NASTY and do not know how to treat customers. Moreover the food was just okay.. nothing special and definitely not worth the hassle of terrible service, being charged for things you didn't ask for, being charged a different price then the menu says and being told you have to order at least $25 per person on Taco Tuesday. Probably why the PLACE WAS EMPTY! Definitely won't be going ever again and I'll be telling my whole network of friends and colleagues NEVER GO TO MAS TORILLAS! read more

When this place first opened, didn't think much of it. The decor is almost non existent and if you didn't know it was there you would probably just pass it by. Last night was in the mood for tacos and didn't really want to drive to the usual place so decided to get takeout from this place. I am glad I did. The tacos here are fresh and very tasty. The fish tacos alone can fill you up. The blue corn quesadilla was very good. They also give a side of rice and beans. I will let the pictures speak for themselves. I've been on a hunt for good enchiladas and have only been disappointed. I ordered the duck enchiladas for delivery and received chicken. Was not notified about these changes and were still charged. Stopped in to Mas Tortilla for dinner on a Saturday. It was pretty busy, but we were able to sit right away. We ordered empanadas for the table, and I ordered a burrito for my entree. I'll start off by saying the portions were absolutely MASSIVE (seriously, the burrito was about the size of my face). Even better, the food was really good! The service was standard, and the food arrived pretty quickly. The margaritas were pretty average, but they were very fairly priced. Overall, I think Mas Tortilla makes a great addition to the neighborhood, and I see myself coming back again in the future! read more

It's unfortunate but I'm never coming here again. I had ordered from here a few times before and then I decided to go dine in person last night. This review is not because of the food but because of the horrible service we received. I ordered the taquitos with shredded beef and what I got were three steak tacos instead. When it arrived, I politely told our waitress that this wasn't what I ordered. Instead of attempting to fix the error or offering some kind of solution, she decided to pull the menu out and continue to patronize me that because I didn't say the word crispy as it was in the menu, that's why I got what I got. It ruined my appetite and my night - I have never experienced this kind of service in a restaurant before. I eat out or order most nights of the week and I'll be continuing to take my business elsewhere in the neighborhood when I want Mexican food - Compadres, Homemade Taqueria, Tacombi - all places with delicious food and infinitely better service that makes me feel like I'm welcomed. read more

We had high expectation going into this place as the Yelp reviews were overall very positive. I called ahead to book a table for 7 and the lady on the phone gladly obliged. It is worth doing in the event you have a large party. For appetizer, we ordered nachos with chicken and the portion was very good and had all the fixen you expect to find. For entree, I got the mama's carnitas which is slow braised pork with onions, pineapple and oranges and served with a small rice and beans and warm tortillas. The pork was indeed very soft and tender and I did enjoy the dish very well. My son got the pollo asado which is a grilled boneless quarter leg with grilled vegy and rice and beans. He thought it was just average and didn't stand out. My wife got the mahi tacos on corn tortilla and she too felt the flavor was just average. However it is good to see that this place does offer gluten free option such as corn instead of flour tortilla. My two complaints of this place is the wait time to have the food come out is way too long, and also the rice and beans they bring out for the entrees is too tiny and gone in 2-3 bites. My boyfriend and I decided to dine in at Mas Tortilla, and I have to say, we quite enjoyed it! I've been to all the ones in and near the area (metro taco, homemade taqueria, tacombi, compadres99, 5 burro, taco lady in front of gotta get a bagel) and this is my favorite so far. Tacos are on the pricier end at $6 a pop ($18 for 3), but they do come with a side of guac, rice and beans which make them well worth it. We ordered shrimp nachos and they definitely packed the shrimp in every bite. Nachos stayed crispy all throughout, even those under the mounds of beans, shrimp, queso fresco, sour cream, cotija cheese, guac, jalapeños and corn. For the tacos, I ordered al pastor, tinga de pollo, and carnitas. The homemade fresh tortillas really can't be beat here and all the ingredients were super fresh. I'm usually an al pastor girl, but the carnitas were the clear winners. I could honestly feel the love put in these tacos. They also have quesa birria and birria tacos here which l will certainly try during my next trip. Happy hour is from 11am-7pm. We came at 705pm and the waitress still allowed us to order last call for HH. Both waitresses that catered to us were super sweet and friendly. Pictures here is also my boyfriend's frozen mango margarita and my mezcalita, both of which we thoroughly enjoyed. All in all, I'm a huge fan! And although I still favor Jackson Heights for anything taco related, this is a very close second in my heart and the one to beat in Forest Hills. read more

I walked by this gem on my way home from a really long day and decided to have a margarita. I enjoyed the drink and loved how they rimmed the glass with Tamarind because it reminds me of vacationing. I saw a few plates come out for other patrons that looked AMAZING, which I then convinced myself to order something too, and ended up with shrimp quesadillas. Mas Tortilla is a fairly new establishment and I went here with a friend for Winter Restaurant Week. The beautiful thing about restaurant week is the ability to try an establishments menu for a fraction of the cost. The fact that this establishment is new and participating in RW shows they are hungry to get customers in and see what they are about. So let's talk experience...our waitress was super kind and attentive. Their restaurant week menu offered 3 courses AND a complimentary cocktail for $35. We order a mojito and spicy margarita both were really good. So good we ordered another round for $10 for each drink which isn't bad. For starters we had the tostada and elote. These were fairly good. The entree we both had shrimp enchiladas which I thought was fairly good as well. They weren't skimp with the shrimp so that is a plus. For desert we had the churros which were warm cream filled bites of deliciousness. The ice cream went well. Overall we had a good experience enough to give them 3.5 - 4 stars. I may come back here. My husband and I had a wonderful dinner here tonight. The red sangria and Cadillac margarita were divine. My husband chose to order from the restaurant week menu -- Corn Elote as an appetizer, Duck Tinga enchiladas and flan for dessert. I had the most delicious Chile Relleno and we both had rice and beans. I'm so happy to have such an excellent Mexican restaurant in the neighborhood. Came by for Valentine's Day dinner... It was pretty full but we were able to get a table right away. There was one waitress and one bartender. They had three different menu offerings which I thought was nice... One was a five course prefix for $65, the next was a three or four course prefixcourse for $35 a person And then they have their regular menu offerings. Due to the fact that Valentine's Day fell on Tuesday we were able to take advantage of the taco Tuesday special which was any three tacos and a drink for 1995 a person. We had it on the chips and salsa which was a nice addition for 395 and it was definitely homemade and authentic. The drinks were fresh and nice and strong and we left feeling satisfied. Just finished our meal ordered from Más Torilla. Very happy to say we have a new taco spot! Tacos were really good!! Small "street style" tacos, but very tasty and filling. REALLY liked the fact that you can customize which tacos to get for the three tacos that come to the order. You can also add an extra taco if you'd like!!! Chips and salsa were very good as well. Salsa tasted fresh and had a nice heat to it. Also had the duck quesadilla and I thought it was really good!! Very nice that the tacos come with a side of rice and beans as well! Solid option for Mexican in Forest Hills. I found this spot on Yelp when we happened to be in the area and was drawn by the churros pic. It's a cute spot with holiday lighting setup, there was a bar, and tables in the front and back. My family of 4 ordered 2 mains, 2 apps, 1 side, and 1 dessert. The portions were a good size and it was plenty of food for us. Plenty of vegetarian options. Standouts for me were the burrito and the side of plantains. And of course churros were amazing. Ordered dinner from this place because it was new and we wanted to try it. My husband picked up. We ordered a blue corn tortilla quesadilla, a mas vegetarian burrito, chips and salsa, horchata, and jarritos. The horchata was phenomenal. I love horchata so I'm glad that they had it and I was able to get it! My husband absolutely loved his burrito. He appreciated that it wasn't chock full of rice like a lot of Mexican restaurants like doing. The burrito was actually full of the good stuff like veggies and cheese, and he appreciated that since a lot of places like using rice as a filler. The chips and salsa were delicious, and I will order them again. I miss the chips and salsa that you get in TexMex restaurants in the south and this took me right back home. I got the blue corn tortilla quesadilla and it was mostly ok. I just found the tortilla portion to eat dry even though I had drowned it in sauces. That being said, the filling was great.
