The food at this place is amazing! Taste authentic and fresh. We came during brunch and ordered the brunch enchiladas and fajita. The meat in the enchilada was tender and flavorful. The fajita as well tasted great. We also ordered an horchata that was delicious. The server was attentive and helpful when selecting our food. Came on cinco de Mayo- not sure if this had anything to do with the food/service received that day. Tacos (chicken, steak, pastor)were okay- def have had better, juicy and flavor. Margaritas were poor. Flavors tried passion fruit (okay out of all), mango, strawberry were poorly made, light on the flavors & I had to request salt on the drinks. I really expected to love this place and was shocked at how bland the food was! My partner and I went for the restaurant week prix fixe. With three courses and a drink included we were so excited. Unfortunately the service was very poor. A couple seated 15 minutes after us received their appetizer, drinks, and water almost 10 minutes before us? We tried to be patient because there was only 1 server, but the service was sub par at best. We had to ask for water and got it at dessert, we felt pressured to order more drinks, and the server was very short with us. The place is small but not small enough to be taken care of by one server. I think everyone's experience suffered because of that. The food was alright, drinks were good. The mole was the only thing worth the price. The chicken in the empanadas was dry and the birria didn't have much flavor. I think you might like it if you didn't grow up eating latin food and have deeper pockets. You can't have BOTH expensive subpar food and no customer service.... read more

First time ordering- excited to have a place to get classic Mexican street food. I ordered the three combo taco platter and the elote. The elote was delicious- seasoned to perfection. The tacos were clean, classic and very tasty. They come with a little cup of guacamole which was excellent-im a little guac snob - I think I make the best guacamole:) , a red sauce, green sauce which duplicated what I've had on the streets of Mexico. I know that's a random thing to comment on but shows attention to detail. Drinks were also very good--be warned the medium margarita is HUGE and knocked me on my butt. We ordered from here for the first time tonight and we were blown away! We had the carnitas burrito and the carnitas, Al Pastor, and chicken mole tacos. Everything was outstanding, especially the mole taco! The burrito is huge and the taco trio is very filling and also comes with a very generous portion of rice and beans. Everything also came with quite a few sauces, toppings, and guacamole. There was also a small bag of house-made tortilla chips! The food, drinks and service at Mas Tortilla are all truly deserving of 5 stars. It is a real Mexican restaurant with dishes like mole poblano, chilaquiles, and pozole. My wife is a Mexican-American transplant from Texas and Mas Tortilla reminded her of places from back home. We have been 2x and plan on making regular visits. Gave Mas Tortilla a try the other night and it was good, but doesn't take the neighborhood throne for best taqueria. I will compare it directly to Tacombi since these are the two newest and best spots competing for your dollars. Delivery - I am pretty patient with restaurants in their opening weeks because they have to iron out the kinks. That said, delivery from their website is processed through Door Dash and took 1hour + 10 minutes. Tacombi also uses Door Dash and delivery has consistently been 25-30 minutes including opening week. Hopefully that delivery time improves. Cost - I was shocked to find that everything on the menu (except the guac) is more expensive than Tacombi for similarly sized portions. The regular tacos (al pastor, chicken, carne asada etc) are pick any 3 for $16. Specialty tacos are 3 for $19, but you cannot choose a variety, they have to be 3 of the same taco. Unfortunately, because of this I chose not to try (and compare) the fried fish taco, duck taco, or short rib taco. $19 is high risk if the fried fish doesn't deliver well. Quesadillas and burritos cost $16 if you add chicken/pork/steak. To be fair, the quesadilla is a traditional large 2-tortilla deal, loaded with cheese, whereas Tacombi's $9 quesadilla is a single tortilla with less fillings folded in half. Chips and guacamole are $12 but I suspect avocados are very expensive right now, this seems to be expensive at all the restaurants right now. Food - I had carnitas, al pastor, tinga chipotle chicken, and carne asada in various tacos and quesadillas. All of the meats were tender, juicy, and very flavorful. The al pastor, especially, was perfect whereas Tacombi's al pastor (only) is very dry most of the time. The tinga chicken was juicy but could use the flavors turned up a few notches. The tacos were traditional street taco size and full of meat, the quesadillas stuffed with cheese and meat. Everything is very good! That said, the tacos lack the complexity of flavors that Tacombi offers, as far as the spices and fillings used. Mas Tortilla has very traditional flavors. Tacos from both places seem to be about the same size and amount of meat and fillings. The elote was the only disappointment. Even though it is served fresh on the cob, it was very overcooked and soft. But, Tacombi serves what tastes like canned corn, so it's a wash. Sauces, salsas, guac - This is the only area where Mas Tortilla is a clear winner. The red sauce is nice and spicy. The green sauce is fresh and herbaceous. The guacamole is fresh and very tasty, exactly what you'd expect and want. Tacombi falters at all of these, which is a kick in the balls considering their guac costs $14. Overall, I'd give Mas Tortilla a 3.5 review. You're probably going to spend $5 more for your meal here than Tacombi, or at the very least, the same price (which people complain about at Tacombi). Tacombi offers complex flavor profiles that make the food pop. Mas Tortilla serves up very traditional flavors, executed well. The problem is that at this price point, you'd expect more than well-executed traditional tacos. read more

Just ordered tacos and they were not very edible, dry and flavorless, $3 extra for the tiniest piece of fish it's was like deep fried anchovy size taco , I was hoping for good Mexican and this was literal trash. I had takeout twice and both times delicious! I had all of the chicken tacos -- very fresh. Also, they double the soft taco which I love. The three tacos came with a large side of rice and beans, in addition to guacamole, sour cream, pico, green sauce, etc! It is really two meals.
