Great sides as well such as squid bbq, teriyaki chicken/salmon, shumai, etc. parking is a pain, but it's Ridgewood. What do you expect. Don't go Friday/Saturday/Sunday past 6pm. They get extremely busy and the place isn't super big so you might have to wait 30+ mins. Worth the wait? Depends how hungry you are. You might have to wait longer for your food as well. After a long work day, my husband and I treated ourselves to an AYCE sushi dinner at Sushi X in Ridgewood. For a Wednesday night, the restaurant was pretty busy. We were taken to one of the tables closer to the kitchen in the back. I loved all of the polaroid pics on the walls and chill/relaxed vibe there. It was a cold, rainy night. So once we were seated, we ordered some hot tea and quickly filled out our order sheets. The service was great that night - staff were friendly and attentive. We ordered veggie tempura to share. One order is 3 pieces, so we wrote down 3 on our sheet (see pic - this was what we wanted to split between two). My husband filled up on all the vegetarian friendly rolls (sweet potato, avocado/cucumber, avocado/peanut, and avocado/mango; the last was his favorite). I went with a Crazy Tuna Roll, X-Roll, and a Golden Ridgewood. The latter two are deep fried. Both were tasty but just a lot, so next time I would just order one or the other and regular rolls or sushi pieces. We filled up quickly, so we passed on ice cream at the end. I overheard another table say that the ice cream was really good... Overall, weekday dinner at Sushi X was good experience. Fairly standard menu for and all you can eat sushi restaurant. Wasn't too busy on a Friday night. Service was good. I felt the kitchen menu was little lacking. The food was just OK. Same for the sushi it was fine but not overwhelming in any way. Comparing it to other all you can eat I felt it could've been a little cleaner and colder. Plus some of the cuts just fell off. Great location in the heart of Ridgewood....AND, more importantly, the sushi isn't bad either. There aren't many AYCE sushi restaurants in northern NJ, but whenever I find one, the excitement antennas are set off in me. One thing I love about this AYCE sushi restaurant is that, like many of the good ones, they offer AYCE sashimi! However, not ALL fishes or typical sashimi were available here (e.g. regular tuna, eel were not part of the sashimi section), but beggars can't be choosers right????? We strolled in for an early Friday evening dinner at around 5:30 PM. First off, if you're familiar with the area, then you'll know that parking is TOUGH here, especially as the evening wears on, so come early! When we arrived, the restaurant was nearly empty with just 2 parties dining, but by around 6:30-7:00 PM, it got absolutely packed. By the time we left at 7:00, the 2 waitresses working the evening were flying back and forth between tables. I won't go through everything on the menu because, like I said, it's very typical of good AYCE sushi restaurants these days. They have various sashimi, sushi, sushi rolls and special rolls on their menu along with salads, soups, appetizers and fried foods. The sashimi, sushi and appetizers were all decent and I thought it was pretty solid. My better half claimed that there was a bit of discoloration on some of the sashimi, so it skewed her opinions immediately of the sashimi quality, but I didn't think there was much to it as most of it tasted relatively fresh. I DO AGREE with her that some of it could have been better though, like the clam sashimi didn't look great. As for service, it was very quick throughout the evening. Our appetizers and sushi came out very quick, although it wasn't super busy at the time when we dined, but the waitresses were always coming back to see if we were ready with our next order. When it did get busy, things seemed a bit more hectic inside. Also, one thing to note for AYCE diners is that if you're not ordering from the AYCE menu, which as of June 2025 is $31.99/person, they do have an a la carte menu too, but if 1 person is doing AYCE at the table, EVERYYYYONE else has to do it, unless the other parties at your table are under 10 years old. Because our kids were not ordering from the AYCE menu, the waitresses seemingly kept coming back to check on our table to make sure our kids were not eating any of the food that my wife and I were ordering from the AYCE menu. In my opinion, it was a a litttttttle petty, but I guess rules are rules and they are definitely strict here about it. Overall, solid sashimi and sushi. We've been to quite a few AYCE sushi restaurants in NY and NJ and Sushi X doesn't have the best AYCE sashimi and sushi quality we've ever had, but it passes the test still and I would still come back again in the future. read more

Celebrated my daughters 8th birthday here! The kids all really enjoyed the AYCE concept! Food and service were really fantastic. They were able to accommodate our party of 19 guests in the back by the sushi chef station which was perfect. The restaurant is not large but if you call in advance, they will happily figure out a nice place to seat your party. We LOVE that the place is BYOB of course. The sushi sashimi and the hand rolls were good and for the price you pay, expect to leave super full with money still in your pocket. THE FISH: The shumai is tasteless and over fried. The sushi was old, smelled and was cut like some kind of meat. I've never had salmon sashimi that was Warm, so thin you could see through it, completely covered in fat and cut like a French Fry. I wouldn't even touch the other Sashimi, as it was old and looked like it was sitting out. The sushi was sloppy and looked like it was premade as it was warm. The food that was cooked in oil tasted off and I honestly have to think it has something to do with the Oil. FOOD POISONING: We left the food half way through. We could eat it as me and my husband started to feel sick after eating it for 20 minutes. It didn't sit right with both of us, and we were right. We both got food poisoning and were sick for over 24 hours. Please don't eat here. Delicious and fresh sashimi, quick and friendly service! Part of 4 who came in Thursday night around 6:45pm, no wait. We enjoyed the all you can eat (AYCE) sushi and sashimi. My favorites are the red clam, white tuna (melt in your mouth!), squid, red snapper, and eel. We also enjoyed baked mussels, gyoza and shumai, and various other side dishes. For dessert, I loved the refreshing ginger ice cream and green tea ice cream flavors! The waitresses and waiters were attentive and refilled our tea and water, new menus frequently. I will say that their English is not great, so it's helpful that we spoke Chinese :-). Just be patient or speak more slowly if you are a customer who cannot speak Chinese! We came for all you can eat and ended up paying 15$ extra for few rolls that we could not finish and the rice that we left on the plate!!!!
