I never stated that they should be "cheapest option", yet i feel as though experts in the hybrid business should be knowledgeable in local prices. Dropped $4000 on a reconditioned battery for my hybrid Toyota. 19 months and 27k miles later the battery was toast. I did drop my car off with them after waiting a week for an appointment. Despite driving the national average...they tried to blame it on excessive annual mileage (~15k every year the car was driven). Their warranty offered on the battery was 12 months and they offered no exception to the policy. They also offered me to see one of their friends who would offer me $2000 for the car after I told them I was not going to proceed with the same battery swap another time (since I had completely lost faith in their product). I wish Masaki's spent as long working to find their customers a viable solution as they did on responding to reviews after the fact. I sold the car a few weeks ago for $3500. Waste of money after the first battery lasted over 110k miles. I had better hopes for this place. I did try to work with the company in July 2021 (see attached pic), but they did not bring their A-game. I hope you have a better experience. Based on the reviews seen on Yelp they used to stand for more. Bummer. read more

Beware - Crook - Expert in Lying and manipulating. When you bring in your car, they will give you a quotation without inspecting it. When insist on inspection so that the price can be confirmed, they will give all kind of excuses and claimed they can only inspect on the day of the repair. Brought in a week later on their schedule slot but still refuse to inspection when you are there. Told me leave the car behind. After I got home, that is the time they jack up the price $600 plus from their original quotation. read more

My used Prius (new to me) showed a disturbing triangle exclamation point light come on Friday late I called masakis first thing Monday am and they said they were very busy and could take me Friday. I booked for Friday They offered to let me know if a cancellation/no show came up before that. It is now Monday afternoon and I have my car back fixed and happy! They managed to fit me in, fix my car, and not break the bank all within a a few hours of my original call. This was my first time using this shop, I was very impressed with them. They were able to accommodate me pretty quick and they told me what was wrong and what needed to be ordered and about how long it would take. They even suggested to do another preventative type maintenance but after doing it they found out it should have been done earlier because the part was already damaged. I'm thankful that they went the extra mile by offering it to me with no pressure. It saved me a trip back. They must be very well trained in everything hybrid! We've been bringing our 2104 Prius to Masakis since we bought it. They've kept the car in excellent service all along a t a good price with excellent service. Our car finally had a real problem with the brake system and Masaki's chose to let us in on the fact that the $3,000+ repair was under an extended factory warranty, rather than taking the repair themselves. They gave us paperwork to take to the dealer and have the repair done there for free. Masakis is clearly focused on long term customer relationships over short term gains. read more

I've been here twice fortunately/unfortunately (nobody likes getting repairs) and have had great experiences both times. If you have a hybrid or EV, you know that nobody will even attempt work on it, they all refer you to the dealer. Thank God I found them somehow and saved a ton of money. They were very professional, honest, and expedient. They will look for refurbished parts and offer them when available to save money. My last visit I had the call that never happens: "Oh your car is done already and Lexus quoted me the wrong amount for the parts." Which resulted in paying about 1/2 the initial quote. Repair bills suck any which way but paying about 50% less than what you were quoted and having the car ready sooner than anticipated? LOVE LOVE LOVE! read more

So glad I found this place to do the safety on my Mini Cooper. After what seemed like a million phone calls to find a place close by to get my safety done, I heard the nicest voice on the other end of the phone at Masaki's Auto Repair. He was very patient and genuine in understanding the situation (expired safety) and advised me on the process and for me scheduled that same day. I had already been dealing with people sending me to other places because they didn't want to deal with my situation and some were just down right rude. Got to the repair shop, got it done, sis the leg work to get the reg and title done and headed back to complete the safety. Both times they were super nice and it truly showed that they wanted to help. Too bad they don't service or work on Mini's because this is the kind of place I would take it. Never had any problems with my little Prius c. Took it there to get engine and transmission oil change then few days after my headlights started going crazy. Maybe just a coincidence. They seem to be very competent but lack customer service. They are very busy and it seems that they are happy with their current customers and don't need new ones. You need to make an appointment and drop off your car. So you gotta have someone to pick you up or have more than one car because it will stay there for awhile. read more

I have a Tesla 3 and a Lexus CT300h. Masaki's regularly services the Lexus but also recently fixed the squeak that is endemic in the model 3 Tesla steering upper control arm. This is the ONLY non Tesla establishment that knows how to deal with the squeak. My feeling is that itbis a design problem that Tesla should cover under their warranty, which they will, provided that the problem occurred during the warranty period. After that, you are on your own. The Tesla app, essentially the only way to communicate with Tesla, provides an estimate of $180 to repair. The reality is that it can cost from $500 and change to over $2k, depending on the dealer, and more irritating , what the Tesla customer service representative decides to charge you. I am sick of dealing with the incompetence and arrogance of the Tesla service reps. Masaki fixed my problem for less than $100, including tax, and it works just fine. It's too bad that Masaki can't fix the other things on a Tesla, it requires proprietary tools. I would switch to Masaki in a New Tork Minute. read more

I have never, ever had a worse experience in my life with a business. My car was at this shop THREE TIMES for the SAME issue. I was, in the end, charged over $4,000 dollars for my A/C to be fixed. (And trust me, it was not a $4,000 job.) Each time my car was brought back, it was for THEIR mistakes. For which I was charged. I have a tiiiiiny bit of knowledge in the inner workings of a car, and when I asked questions about the repairs, I could not get a straight answer, especially to the questions which would determine if the mistake was theirs. Instead I was told that "I would never understand the business of mechanics". I am a 23 year old female, and am I wrong in saying that was why he told me that? I have a strong feeling... I would never, EVER recommend you take your car to this place, unless you have unlimited time and money to be wasting. If so, then be my guest! I just want to add that I am a very, very patient person in these situations. I've worked in customer service for 6+ years. I've dealt with the worst of the worst. So I am not exaggerating when I describe this experience. read more

First time around I was satisfied with my radiator change; 4 weeks later I brought my car back and asked them for their services as the car had broken down due to cooling system malfunction that they had already replaced. Normally a simple diagnostics run on the same job. Therefore there should be no charge; however they are now charging me 200$ on top of what they were going to originally charge me on a 350$ job. I had a very poor experience with this business. I stopped by earlier this month inquiring about a safety check, was scoffed at and told to come back later. A few days later, I noticed AAA was offering free 40-point inspection at approved repair facilities, and Masaki's is one, so I went back for that service plus a safety inspection. I was falsely told a numerous amount of things that were wrong with my car. For example, that my oil was low, but upon inspection of the dipstick I found that the oil level was near the high mark. Also, that my battery was bad and needed to be replaced. I took it into O'Reilly's for a replacement, they tested it for free and said it was in perfect working order (voltage output, holding charge, etc.). The list went on with these falsely reported issues. In all, I felt that I was being targeted to be taken advantage of by this business. What's more is that they were unprofessional and a bit rude. read more

I don't understand the bad reviews for Masaki's. I have been taking my cars there for years and have always been happy with their service. Their labor rates are comprable to other shops in the area and I have found their mark-up on parts to usually be reasonable. Once they suspected a problem with my car might be one of two things. They replaced the first part, but that did not fix the problem so they replaced the second one a few days later and did not charge me for the first replacement. And, I did not even have to ask. I had two repairs I needed done to my truck recently. The dealer was going to charge me $1,500, but I had the work done at Masaki's for $900. They recommended replacing the timing belt while they had the engine apart, but did not pressure me to do it one way or another. I had an older Honda for a while and it threw a timing belt. They had recommended I replace it by 75,000 miles, but I did not. At 78,000 miles it threw the timing belt. I had the car towed to Masaki's. They gave me an estimate for getting the car fixed, but told me that I might want to consider junking the car because despite their repairs the car would not be the same as before. I talked to another shop and got a similar estimate. They tried to talk me out of the repairs, but I had Masaki's do the repairs anyway ($2,500.) I wish I had just scrapped the car. I ended up selling it a year later for a bit less than the repair costs. Like most all other things in life, don't just blindly get anything done to your car. Get a second opinion or do your own research. I have found the guys at Masaki's to be honest and straight forward about the repair costs and their timing on how long it would take. Have a Prius ... was driving it when the "hybrid malfunction" light came on. Didn't sound good and after referencing my manual was basically informed that I shouldn't be driving the car unless I wanted to potentially ruin it. So, I took it to the dealership. They told me I had to wait 4 weeks for service. I was flabbergasted! So, you're telling me I can't drive the car, but I can't get service for 4 weeks! How does that work?! Thankfully, I was referred by a friend to Masaki's. Daryl and his brother Dave, were awesome. They took the car in and serviced it within the day! Miracle! After reading all the great reviews for Masaki's Auto Repair, plus the fact that they are Toyota experts when it comes to Hybrids, namely Prius, I decided to give them a call. Darly answered the phone and I explained my dilemma. He took the time to explain causes and symptoms I was experiencing with my Prius. With that said, I decided to give them my business. I brought my vehicle in and within the day they called to say it was finished. Replace coolent valve, drain, and replace the spark plugs. Price was fair, but even if it was more than other places I would have paid more. What I feel I would be paying more for is their honesty, their professionalism and knowledge. These guys do it right and stand behind their work, guaranteed quality. Dave took the time and brought me into his hybrid section to explain the process of replacing cells and what it all means, come on..how many garages have you been in where they take the time to educate you about your car. This is the first time this has happened to me. Usually they swipe your card and hand you your keys, not these guys. Dave must have spent 20-25 minutes with me about the subject of balancing cells. I walked (drove) out of there as if I just graduated with an associate degree in Hybrid maintenance. Oh...did I mention both Daryl and Dave have a dry sense of humor? You just have to know how to bring it out of them. I figured it out immediately and it made my experience even better. Good people, honest people, those are the kind of people we want working on our vehicles. Although I couldn't figure out why the door knob on the office door was lower than the standard height. Hands down this was the best customer service I've ever had at a mechanic shop. Brought in my old Prius when the dead battery lights came on, and they took the time to explain to me how the battery works and how they will fix it, with rough price estimates. They didn't talk down to me, and I was so appreciative! It ended up being more expensive than I expected though (over $2700 to fix the battery... not worth it for what I paid for the car, and was more than what they had explained to me initially). I also didn't appreciate that they changed my back licence plate cover to theirs without asking (I would have preferred if they checked with me first??). But their work was solid, car runs great now, and they were super friendly. I need to be more clear when I get a quote next time (and not buy an old Prius!) read more

These guys are legit. After taking our fleet of company trucks to Masaki's for years, I started to personally take my Xterra there for service. I never feel like they nickle and dime me, and if something can wait to be fixed until next time, they never hesitate to mention it. I have always felt like they are one of the few honest mechanics around. Disappointed with diagnostic fee. Was charged $65 more than my normal mechanic for running a computer diagnostic when my car was towed here. That's a big difference. Also, my normal mechanic waives the computer diagnostic if work is performed. They did not offer this. They were very polite and professional, but it's never fun to feel like you're being over-charged after being under duress with car trouble. My fault for trusting a AAA recommendation and not asking enough questions up front. read more
