Never had anything bad to say about this restaurant until Covid-19 hit and all of a sudden everyone looses their minds! Last Thursday I visited on my short lunch hour hoping to enjoy a nice relaxing lunch in a place with air conditioning (the place I work currently was experiencing air conditioning problems- so I had to work on animals all morning with no air conditioning). I noticed y'all were open and had NO signage in front stating "take out" only. Chairs were set up and NO signage saying certain seats were marked off for social distancing so after I ordered my food I went out to my car to grab a book. I sat down and waited for them to call my name. A while later it was ready so I sat down again. Just as I had my food ready with the sauce on my chicken and I was getting ready to take a bite, a VERY RUDE lady came out of the back and yelled "you can't eat here!!!" No where did it say you could not dine in. She could have said..I'm so sorry but we cannot have people sit down in our restaurant, I would have been fine with that. So I went out to sit in my car and eat and my food fell out in my lap. I was so upset I didn't get a chance to eat anything for lunch that day and it was a heavy surgery day. I went to try and talk to the manager after this happened but there was a long line and I was on a time crunch. Very upsetting. Doubt I will ever return. read more

This review is solely based on the SERVICE. Yesterday I had placed an order over the phone and the gentleman that answered and took my order was very nice, but the lady at the counter was a different story. I walked in to pick up my order, when I told her my name she replied "for who" with an annoyed tone in her voice. After I repeated myself, she gathered my bag, I payed, then I asked for my receipt. She seemed very irritated with the fact that I asked for MY receipt. She literally ripped off the receipt and threw it in my bag, didn't say thank you, have a nice day, or anything. I love their chicken rice bowls. Probably the best in town. I also really enjoy their chicken salad. Fresh lettuce with shredded chicken. Delicious salad dressing. If I had one complaint it would be the appearance of the restaurant. It is filthy and worn down. Carpet is disgusting. Walls are dirty. There's a tree in the corner that is completely dead! Has been dead for months and months. This place needs a face lift as well as a good cleaning. So their food is 4 Stars. Appearance and cleanliness is 1 star. Get your food to-go. read more

I gave them five stars because the food and timing of the service is always good but there is one girl and I didn't get her name but she always had the most stuck up attitude when I go and makes me want to go to the other location. You know I've always loved Masarus's. Great food, good customer service and even better that we can order on our phones. I love that it's fast and I love that we have 2 locations. Such affordable dishes and did I say delicious. Yes !!! Super delicious, worth every dollar! Even though it's not ever expensive. Fast and affordable! Best green tea ice cream! I've been a customer for years and they are very consistent. Rice bowls, combo plates and the chicken salad are the most popular but everything I've tried has been authentic and delicious. Teriyaki, salad dressing, and other sauces are all made in house! Family went and had chicken teriyaki bowl (shredded chicken over rice), tonkatsu bowl (just the pork cutlet and rice), and ginger chicken wings plate, plus miso soup and an eel roll. I've been eating at this restaurant for years. Probably since they opened. It is my opinion that the food here has diminished in quality. Over the last 1+ years, I've had more complaints than satisfactory experiences here. For example, they hand shred the chicken for the chicken bowls, and in today's bowl alone, I had to spit out either bone, cartlidge, or some vascular matter three times. This has become common. Time before last, I had the chicken/beef combo plate with vegetable tempura. It was terrible! The chicken was dry, beef was cold, rice was oversteamed and clumpy, and vegetable tempura was doughy and cold. "The care is in the details," so to speak; especially in a Japanese restaurant. The service is like the food, i.e., just okay on a good day. If it wasn't for the convenience of a semi-healthy option, I likely wouldn't eat here. read more

I'm sure there are better Japanese restaurants around the world (like maybe in Japan?) but for the price and convenience, this is one of my favorite places to eat in town. The typical order is a rice bowl with either beef or chicken, but they do have a decently big menu that includes sushi, udon noodles, tempura shrimp/vegetables, salads, and a few other things I can't remember. An added plus is their variety of authentic Japanese candy and soda (complete with unreadable symbols). Definitely worth a try to see if you like it, I do. read more

This is the saddest sushi I've seen. Almost all rice with a tiny circle of something in the center. Don't bother. About the same quality as the premade rolls at Savemart. Gyoza was okay, but then again, how do you mess up premade frozen potstickers that you just throw in a deep fryer? Ambience: Well, you order at a counter, there's a few scattered tables and it's harshly lit. Typical strip mall spot they haven't fixed up. PLUS they charge for refills on soda. Lame. read more

As we sat waiting 25 minutes for our order, my husband commented that they needed to change the sign in the window which read "fast Japanese food". I'd say that they need to take out the adjective Japanese, and just call it food. I was starving, so I felt better after eating their spicy chicken bowl, but it was nothing memorable. Some pieces of dry, broiled chicken breast over white rice. It became "spicy" by pouring some teriyaki sauce with chile mixed in it. Rude rude. If I could give zero stars I would. We have been eating here for YEARS! Tonight my order was messed up not once... but twice. To the point of having to drive back. They were not nice about it at all. Even though I had no problem paying for what they forgot. Then the girl who took my order over the phone(Leah) rudely pops into the convo blaming me saying she knows what I said and that wasn't it. Family owned, great service and great food! I love coming here! They haven't raised their prices in years and are the same price as a burger across the street but way better for you. Service is hit or miss. Food is mediocre at best. The menu looks good, but actual product is quite sad. I'm actually surprised about how busy it gets sometimes. So many other better places out there, but it's good for a quick order of steamed rice when I'm too lazy to make rice or just don't have time. Pretty good take-out lunch. I frequently stop by for a chicken bowl or a Katsu chicken bowl to go. Plenty of parking. You order at the counter and wait for your food to be freshly prepared. The service has always been friendly. There are plenty of tables so you can sit down and eat in, but I don't care for the atmosphere so I take my food home. One suggestion I have is to ask for white meat if you prefer. read more

Masaru's is my FAVORITE. I love it so much. I don't like anyone who doesn't like it here. This one is my favorite, the original is always better. It's very convenient and close to my house, which makes me pretty freakin happy. I always eat way too much when I come here, it's so good. Although some of the workers can get kinda snobby, So I always go when the nice lady is working (I think her name is Carrie?). Let me just say though, I would not eat the sushi. Not very fresh. I love everything else though, it's all so amazing. My favorites? The chicken bowl, beef bowl, gyoza (oh my god, best gyoza ever), beef sticks, tempura is good, the chicken salad is amazing, and miso. All of the juices and sodas they have are great. When I go, I usually get a chicken bowl (minus the green onions, and i usually opt out of the teriyaki sauce they put on the bottom), along with an order of gyoza, and a ramune soda. I always pour some of the gyoza sauce on the bowl (go for this instead of a spicy bowl). I love this place so much. Not many places could beat it. read more

Sushi to me is Nigiri style fish and rice, not a massive roll of rice and Nori. This place has become a staple for the typical high school crowd. The older lady that works there is always rude and I dread having to deal with her if I go in. She makes me not even at to go there at all. Rice bowls are ok but plain not very flavorful no veggies, the sushi is cheap but a waste of money they are rolled too tight and mostly all rice with a pea size amount of spicy tuna or Cali roll filling, no sauces for the sushi just say sauce and stingy ginger.
