Mash'D brunch is so much fun!!! A weekend event, you'll need to come to terms with the fact there will be a wait if you don't come right when it opens. I think it is worth the wait!! I've been here a couple of times and I usually order the cheeseburger omelet ($10.79) and it is always delicious! It really does taste like a cheeseburger and would probably the perfect "hangover"-esque brunch dish. The chicken & biscuits ($16.29) is also a really good option too!! The one thing I wouldn't recommend is the garlic broccoli. It was extremely salty and also you get like 5-7 pieces of broccoli for $3.50. It's just not worth it. Overall the food was meh and the service was subpar. Our server wasn't very attentive, often disappearing for long lengths of time leaving our drinks empty. I ordered a bar drink that I received at the end of my meal, pretty much making it pointless. When the server came to the table to take our initial order she set another table's dirty dishes down on our table. Already bitten food from the dirty dish landed on our table. Just left a bad taste in my mouth, no pun intended. Oh and the server cursed, I'm not a prude and I curse like a sailor just found it odd that she was so comfortable to curse in front of other folk's children. The gravy had no the flavor the sausage was reminiscent of Italian sausage and the fried were too soggy to stand up to a runny egg and gravy. We were visiting out of town and found this gem to have lunch. The host greeted us promptly and sat us in a booth as requested. I was so excited to see that most of the items were labeled GF or GF/V! I cannot tell you the struggle of having to figure out what to eat. I enjoyed one of their crafted drinks, Text the Ex and the Swole Bowl filled the bill with my food allergies. The rest of the party enjoyed the pizza, tacos and a potato & egg skillet. It was on a Monday so it wasn't loud and we can enjoy our conversation. Based on the reviews and pictures, I had this place on my list when visiting San Antonio for work. I got the meatloaf and butterscotch pie/cake. The meatloaf was delicious, however the butterscotch pie is something I won't get again. I don't know if it was frozen but the consistency was kind of hard and crumbly. Oh, how I've missed Mash'd! I made reservations online for two and was seated promptly. The booths now have added what I assume is plexi glass to provide more safety between guests. I actually loved that! I could not hear anyone else's conversation but the one I was having, which is sometimes a struggle at crowded restaurants. Our server was friendly and was quick to provide us with anything we needed. Wish I could remember her name, because she was great! My only issue was, I spotted 2 or 3 servers without masks. This was the first time we tried this restaurant. We came on a Saturday and boy the place was packed . We didn't realize that this place was a very popular place for brunch and we came in at 12 noon and had to wait at least 15 minutes to get a table because we didn't make any reservations. But the wait was all worth it . I ordered the shrimp and crab volcano which was a bomb. It was bursting with flavor, even with a good amount of rice in that dish it tasted so good . A good combination of the saltiness of the shrimp and cheese and the sweetness of the snow crab and with the rice in there , the dish was so balanced . We have been wanting to try this place for a few years now. So when my husband asked me where I wanted to go for Mother's Day, and gave me the options of this place or Fogo... I chose MASH'D. We spent about 10 minutes looking for our server to ask for a side of ranch for our appetizer. My husband ordered the meatloaf and it was actually really good! I ordered to WTF tacos, which is what the server mentioned was the most popular dish to order there. Let me tell you... I would rather eat nursing home food than those tacos. There was the tiniest pieces of extra blackened chicken. All you could taste was the overwhelming blackened flavor. Nothing else. I took two bites of a taco and couldn't eat anymore. As if that wasn't bad enough, let me tell you about the "Killa Pie" which needs to be renamed immediately. It was like a Walmart pumpkin pie that had been sitting on the shelf for 2.5 weeks and has an overbearing butterscotch flavor. As a lover of moonshine I've been wanting to try Mash'D for YEARS now and finally had the chance to knock it off my list this past week when I met up with a friend for dinner and drinks. It was a Wednesday evening around happy hour time but it was pretty quiet in the space. We had no problem being promptly seated at a booth by the hostess upon our arrival. Upon looking at the cocktail menu I was very, very surprised to see that there seemed to be only 2-3 house cocktails that were moonshine based. I had heard that they had a moonshine flight but it strangely enough was not mentioned on the menu. I asked our waitress and was informed it could still be ordered. It became a little silly though because when I inquired as to the moonshine flavor options I was informed that they didn't have a list of all the flavors yet (despite being open for literally years now). Our waitress (Alexis) and I then had the fun of trying to go through all the 20+ plus flavors verbally to try and make a decision which was easier said than done. And forget about knowing specific brand names (although the impression i received was that a lot of their product comes from the Ol Smokey Moonshine distillery in Tennessee) When the flight of four moonshine flavors arrived they were served room temperature which caught me a little off guard so just an FYI if you're considering ordering a flight as well but aren't a fan of room temperature flavored shine like me :) After getting the drinks settled, my friend and I placed our dinner orders - she went with a salad - and I opted for the "Lover of Meat" pizza. Not going to lie, I enjoyed the pizza way more than I expected to. It's made Detroit style so it's very bready with a lot of sauce on top - but the ingredients (sauce in particular) were very fresh and flavorful tasting. It was at this point after dropping off our entrees that our server Alexis kind of dropped off the face of the earth in terms of service. There was a table next to us with two guys that I assume she knew or was friends with because she basically proceeded to ignore us for most of the rest of our visit and just stand around chatting with them and showing them things on her phone. At one point after I was finished with the pizza my friend and I wanted an extra order of fries. Even though Alexis was literally standing one table over I ended up having to flag down another worker (i think he may have been a manager) to place the order for fries because she showed no signs of stopping her conversation after about 10 minutes. We got seated in our own room and the music was at good volume and the floor manager even offered to turn it up or down to our preference. The menu has a decent amount of options. Full disclosure: I've never eaten here. However, I have done quite a bit of drinking here. The drinks here are fantastic- and if you're coming on the weekend during brunch, the mimosa prices can't be beat. Personally, I'm a big fan of the tequila based Jolly Rancher. The watermelon flavors are great, the only annoying thing is that watermelon chunks can get caught in the straw. Let me just tell you- the bartenders have a heavy hand with the booze, and, at the risk of sounding like an utter alcoholic, I appreciate that in a person. They also are willing to take time out of their work to talk to you, answer questions, etc. As for their other cocktails, let me leave you with one warning: when they say "Knockout Punch", they MEAN it. We decided to give Mash'd a try due to all the amazing reviews we read and so we came to enjoy some cocktails and dinner and when we got there it was dead... Decided to sit at the bar and when checking out the menu, it was mainly loaded with bar/pub food, mostly fried. Finding this to be disappointing, we looked at the drink list and it was mostly sweeter drinks. Ultimately, we chose a cocktail (which one of us didn't even finish as it was too sweet) and their spinach dip. The spinach dip was really good, but very filling. Our plan was to give it a try for an appetizer and round of drinks then head to dinner elsewhere, which is what we ended up doing. I can say that the service was very friendly and great, but their menu isn't what I prefer...
