My wife and I stopped in to check out the new brewery. Heard great things about it. Well the things were true, it was a great experience. Bartender was friendly and welcomed us into the brewery. Excellent beers on tap. I highly recommend checking this brewery out if you're in the lake Geneva area.

Very nice place! Vargus was really nice and everyone we met was friendly. We ordered a sandwich, which was very good and reasonably priced.

Ok beer. Good service. No tables outside just an industrial warehouse set up. Sandwiches looked good.

It's a fun, casual spot with a spacious layout--there's seating on the main level, upstairs, and outside as well. The self-serve, pour-your-own system is a great feature. After a quick check-in with the cashier, you're free to sample and pour what you like. The taps offer a wide variety of options, including beer and wine, which was a pleasant surprise! There was live music playing during our visit, adding a really nice touch to the laid-back atmosphere. They also offer snacks for purchase (paid at the cashier). One suggestion: it would be nice to see more non-alcoholic options besides just soda--maybe a craft NA beer or mocktail for those not drinking (like myself). Overall, it was a quick but enjoyable stop. We'd return again. I also noticed they offer bingo some nights- that's always fun.

The mansion was built in 1856, making it the first mansion in Lake Geneva. The estate has been completely redone but charming details were kept. Along with a mansion where you can book a room, Maxwell also includes beautiful gardens, lounges, outdoor fireplaces, a heated pool, croquet and bocce ball. There is also a separate area in the back with motel rooms. Like I said, I was there for a lil' drink. There's a bar inside the mansion (Apothecary Bar) with all kinds of medical and druggist paraphernalia, with the space being a tribute to Dr. Philip Maxwell. But it's the speakeasy, which is accessible outside in the front of the house, that you'll want to visit. Ask for the password inside the mansion, and they will let you into a dark, below-ground bar. It's all decorated in prohibitionist flyers, and even the bartenders are dressed up in period costumes. It's a really cool and unique bar in Lake Geneva.

A few days after we visited the speakeasy, we went in to try the apothecary bar to get some food and drink. A friendly helpful bartender, explained all their creative cocktails, shared the pub food that they offered, and answered questions. We ordered a flatbread pizza and a spinach artichoke dip as well as a couple of cocktails. They served us at a table where we sat on a couch in a room just across the hall and were quite comfortable. There are other rooms where you can go - not much seating in the actual apothecary bar.

One of the best restaurants in the Lake Geneva area is a hidden gem on the upper level of the resort, Ristorante Brissago. My wife and I made a reservation for Sunday evening to celebrate my birthday. We were greeted at the door by the hostess. We asked if we could get a table by the window and she graciously accommodated our request. Our server, Tanya, greeted us and asked if we wanted to start with a bottle of wine, or cocktail. After a brief review of the menu we decided to start with a beer. My wife had a Peroni, Nasto Azzurro and I chose the New Glarus Spotted Cow. The bus server brought us a basket of warm bread, olive oil, and shredded Parmesan to get us started. Tanya returned and we decided that a cold night warranted a hot bowl of Minestrone Zuppa soup. The soup was made with vegetables , pasta shells, parmesan, broth , and pesto. A great start that brought the right amount of warmth to the beginning of our meal. Tanya was exceptional. She checked on us periodically and did not rush us to order the next course. I mention this because a lot of restaurants have adopted a policy to seat you, feed you, and rush you out the door. Thank you Tanya and staff for understanding that dining out is an experience to relish and take your time to relax and cherish good food and company. For our entrees I was deciding between two dishes and Tanya suggested the Roasted Branzino. It was prepared with a Potato Fennel Puree, Pomegranate Beurre Blanc, Orange Herb Gremolata. Perfection. It was the most flavorful fish I've eaten in many years. Thank you Tanya for your expert opinion. Bravo! My wife ordered the chicken cacciatore. Her dish was prepared with Roasted Cornish Hen, Cacciatore Sauce, Roasted Potato, Chives. Lighting doesn't always strike twice. Her chicken and potatoes were a bit under cooked. The presentation was beautifully executed; however the dish was good, not great. For dessert we were debating between an espresso martini when another cocktail caught my eye, the creamsicle martini. Amazing martini. It was strong, flavorful, and garnished with a slice of orange. Best cocktail on the menu. Wonderful, sublime, and tasty. Tanya surprised us with a slice of New York cheesecake with a candle and a Happy Birthday placard made with chocolate. Thank you. The cheesecake was amazing. Thick graham cracker crust and a rich New York cheesecake drizzled with Carmel and a side of whip cream, blackberry, blueberry, and strawberry. WOW. Loved it! I'm reminded of an old Irish proverb "Laughter is brightest where food is best". Thank you for bringing laughter, love, and great food to the table.

I was expecting much better quality for the price. It was comparable to eating at a restaurant at a theme park - like you know you're paying way more than you should just because of the location. It's your standard steak house vibes in terms of ambiance - classic decor with a lot of leather. They have lovely floor to ceiling windows overlooking the golf course and we were lucky enough to be seated right next to them so we had a view. There was a mix of dress wear, some people coming right from a round of golf and others more dressed up, it's definitely 'higher end' feel. Our waitress was lovely, very informative and patient when it came to food & wine selection (a really great wine menu!). We ordered Oyster Rockefeller, the steak special and the scallop meal. The Rockefellers were delicious, it's always one of my favorite things to order! The scallops were cooked nicely, but the dish overall was lacking some flavor. Thankfully it had the pancetta in in it which helped elevate the meal. The steak was cooked to perfection, very tender and flavorful. The convenience of the experience is what truly made the night for us, paired with the good wine & good food we would certainly eat here again when we stay on property.
