    Entrance... No sign...

Karaoke in Honolulu, Hawaii... Trying out all of the karaoke places in Honolulu, my friend found Masil Pocha on her Yelp app. We all just tagged along. I read reviews on where to park - for free. The lot in front is shared with the Foot massage business. We went on a Saturday at opening time (5:30pm) without a reservation. We were lucky. I think it can get crowded. Located on Kapiolani Boulevard, across from the Convention Center, my first thought was that it's cute inside! The little lights were cheerful and the private rooms were brightly colored! The entrance isn't marked. Just look for the Green "Pass" sign from the Department of Health and the Hours of Operation posted on the glass doors. Service was quite good. We rang the bell inside our room and the guys took our orders and brought the yummy Korean cuisine quickly. Songs were $2 each. We paid cash into the machine and used the remote to search for songs by title. Since it was a weekend, we had a three hour time limit. Sunday to Thursday has no time limit! All rooms have a $50 food/drink minimum daily. It was a good experience and I think we'll be back some day!

So, this place was one of the only restaurants open after 10pm on Sunday evening while I was staying in the Ala Moana Hotel. The inside of the place has a strange vibe to it . Kind of dark but not too much. Some random hip hop playing with Anime on a big screen.. The service was really friendly, and I liked that you just had to push a button on the table to get service help. But, the food we got was not the best. I have to say that the chicken was flavorless and the potato pancakes were super oily. Not sure if I would return but thats just me. They are still worth trying out for yourself if you are in the area and want some late night eats. :)

We wanted to get some food after eating ice cream... we found this cute place. Frogs everywhere for their decoration. We got Ramen and Chicken wings. The ramen was super spicy and the chicken wings were undercooked. They corrected immediately and took the food back to refry. And added extra rice cakes to help off set the spicy broth.

Oohh spicy...we put rice in with the leftover sauce and it was yummy

Came back again on Saturday to celebrate belated birthdays with group of 7 and was able to get a karaoke room at 10pm. This time we got the green room and it fit all of us nicely. Stuff our face with tteokbokki and French fries, and wash it all down with soju bombs. Again the servers were all nice and friendly. Sang our hearts out and filled our bellies with food and laughs. It was another fun night here.

English karaoke binder, they have an insane amount of songs!

Hidden gem alert!!! This is a fun place to hang out, grab some drinks and snacks, and sing karaoke with friends! Visited on a Monday night and wasn't too crowded, although I hear Friday night can get crowded. They are relatively new (opened months ago), and they've nailed the atmosphere! It's very nicely decorated and feels very comfy and friendly. I got seated at the bar area and got the big wave draft beer and potato pancake. The waiter serving us gave helpful recommendations about the various menu items. They recommend getting the whole chicken or chicken wings, which I will surely try the next time I visit! The beer was great and the potato pancake surprised me! I couldn't stop eating it! It's simple with just cheese and egg on top but it turned out incredible! They also give you drink snacks like popcorn along with your beer (I'm told they do this in Korea). Next we went to one of the karaoke rooms. They have 2 smaller ones and 2 larger ones. They have both Korean and English songs, and an enormous selection! We sang Break Free by Ariana Grande and Carry On Wayward Son by Kansas... my throat was tired just from that! At the moment it costs $2 / song. With a group of friends I think it's worth getting a karaoke room! Service was very friendly and helpful throughout, from giving menu recommendations to helping with the karaoke machines. Shout out to Jen, Max, and Gabe! Also thx for playing Blackpink songs for me! There's a parking lot outside for a couple cars. I'm not sure where else to park once it gets full? Overall I highly recommend this place as a fun place to hang out with friends. Will be returning to try the soju cocktails and more karaoke!

Masil Pocha has a pretty long happy hour with great service and fantastic specials. They also have karaoke rooms available if you're wanting to belt out some tunes. Just make sure to check their karaoke room policy.

"Popcorn chicken" lol old stale leftover pieces
    Mina K.

I ordered popcorn chicken and I can clearly tell they used leftover chicken pieces. The batter looked dark and burnt. You can compare the picture I uploaded to the picture that is already on their Yelp page to see the difference. I ordered through delivery so I wasn't even able to complain directly to the employees/owner. Such a disappointment to the business ethics they have.

    Towing invoice/receipt from Masil Pocha

My car got towed here while spending $300 bucks with a party of 12. Ended up paying $200 to get my car out because the manager can't do anything about it.

We had a friend visiting from Scotland and wanted to give him an authentic pub experience, and Murphy's delivered in every way. Fridays after work are especially great here, the place fills up with energy, and for some reason the Guinness just tastes better. We grabbed seats at the bar, always the right move, and were taken care of by bartenders who were friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. My buddy and I stuck with pints of Guinness while my wife enjoyed a dirty martini. The food did not disappoint. Corned beef and cabbage, a breaded pork chop with mashed potatoes, and a salmon Caesar salad all hit the spot. The back bar is packed with memorabilia and old photos, so much history that you could grab a pint and wander for an hour just taking it all in. The shuffleboard was another highlight and quickly turned into a few competitive games. What really stood out was the crowd, so many regulars stopping in, greeting each other, and chatting with the staff, it truly felt like a Cheers-style place where everybody knows your name. Murphy's works just as well for lunch or dinner, and it is perfect for both locals and visitors. Thanks, Murphy's, for making it such a great night for our Scottish buddy.

Therefore I believe that there are still kinks to be made with their reservation system. We waited at the bar until it was sorted out. You walk through a whiskey wall and walk upstairs to the speakeasy. They used a lot of the decor from the former location known as Harry's Emporium. We were the only ones for about an hour so we were able to maximize the bartender's time. Max is an excellent bartender and informed us that they are only open on the weekends for now. He's the only bartender and they are still working out staffing issues. No food at the moment. The theme is New Orleans/French. The drinks and music all have that vibe. The staff was super nice about it and was able to accommodate us, with only a small request that we be out by 8pm since there was another big party with a reservation coming in. Absolutely reasonable. They sat us right away at three large tables, which gave us plenty of space for food and didn't force us to sit super close together. Menus, waters, plates, napkins, and forks were all brought out immediately, and our waiter was quick to take our order. We started with the prix fixe menu for 8-10 guests and were going to add other items à la carte, but a handful of our group accidentally went to the other Side Street location (make sure your group is all on the same page), so what we ordered ended up being more than enough. We left stuffed and with 5 boxes of food still. Edamame was nice and steamy, and large enough to easily pop the beans out with your mouth. Wish there was a bit more salt though. The farmer's salad had everything going on from citrusy to salty to crispy. Avocado had a little bit of oxidation but the capers, dressing and potato curls provided plenty of reasons to overlook it. The fried rice came in a hefty portion, with sizable pieces of bacon and sausage. The chicken I didn't realize was boneless based on the shape of the deep fry, but it was nice to freely bite into it without worrying about hitting anything with my teeth. Probably a bit too much on fried bits but still good. Pork chops had a better meat to crisp ratio in my opinion, as well as juiciness. They even came with ketchup on the side, which I love as a pairing but don't see much of at restaurants. My favorite meat item was definitely the sizzling boneless kalbi. The presentation on the sizzling plate with a side of kimchi was spectacular, and the meat was full of flavor. We also ordered yakisoba, which wasn't part of the prix fixe. Tasted good but nothing past standard expectations. We let the waiter know we had a 30th birthday at the table, and they brought a couple scoops of vanilla ice cream with a candle, and did a decent job getting the whole room to participate in the singing. It could also be the type of crowd this place attracts, since it seemed that everyone was so friendly and approachable. Thanks to the quick and consistent service, we were out in a little over an hour with no complaints.
